For many years my family ate from the same Chinese restaurant which was Bamboo House in Skokie on Touhy Ave. Well, the owner had been in business for more than 30 years and was ready to retire. No one in his family wanted to maintain the business. After closing we were unable to find a decent Chinese restaurant. One day my husband & his boss stopped in Little Wok for lunch. My husband could not wait to get home to tell ME that he'd found a good Chinese restaurant. We had tried several Chinese food restaurants but none could compare to what we were used to from Bamboo House until now. When I tell you eating from Little Wok reminds ME of the Chinese food that my parents would get believe it. The food at Little Wok is make fresh to order and is very delicious. I ordered from Little Wok earlier today and was extremely concerned about sanitation. When I picked up my order, the older woman working the front register had a visibly red nose. Her nose was running. She sneezed and coughed without covering her mouth. The woman did not have a mask on. I spent a great deal on my family's meal and now I don't think it's safe to eat. I never saw her wash her hands after sneezing and coughing. I don't know if she packaged the food or cooked it. I truly hope not. She did not ring up my order. I won't be returning. I've been coming here for a few years now and I've never had a major problem. This place is one of the cleanest Asian restaurants I've been to and they also remodeled in the last few months. With the remodel, can an increase in prices but most of the dishes are a reasonable price. The lunch special is especially a good deal with an egg roll, fried rice, and an entree ranging from $6.25-8.00ish. I recommend the kung pao chicken, crab rangoon, sweet and sour chicken, vegetable egg rolls, and fried rice. I haven't tried their sushi yet! The staff is always nice and are good about accommodating food restrictions/allergies. They are pretty quick about taking your order but I don't feel rushed while I'm eating there, even if it is packed. The only negative I have is the TO-GO ordering. It's been more than a few times that I get home only to find the completely wrong order. They've been known to mess up orders for other people I know as well. Let me start by stating, I have been a strong avid support of this restaurant ordering at least 2x week for lunch. We were fond of the volcano rolls and gyoza as two of my staple selections. Last night I became violently ill after consuming these rolls and when reaching out to the restaurant this afternoon to make them aware I was abruptly disregarded and even told that they are "only the cashier, you need to call the owner/management on Friday!" I was calling only to inform them of this serious matter and to investigate further on the condition in which the ingredients are being stored and/or sanitized. I've ordered take out a few times here - it's close to my job, so when I have a taste for it, I order it for lunch. I've been very underwhelmed by their sushi, and today was the final time I will be ordering from them. I ordered their spicy yellow tail roll as well as a philly roll. The yellow tail roll was 80% jalapeno. No where on the menu was it mentioned that the roll contained jalapeno. I don't mind it, because I wanted spicy, but the amount of jalapeno, and the size of the pieces was kind of ridiculous. The roll tastes extremely crunch, you can't even detect the fish in it due to the amount of raw pepper. Please see my pictures - you can see the rolls them selves, and then the amount of pepper (and the size of the pieces) that I finally ended up removing. Seriously - I like jalapeno, but this was kind of ridiculous. I was expecting like spicy mayo or something... Another complaint worth mentioning is the size of their take out soy sauce containers. You cannot actually fit a piece of sushi in it, to dip. You would have to pour the soy sauce in a different container. I order sushi take out a lot, and it seems that every other sushi place has the standard size container - all the same one, that you can actually fit a piece of sushi into. I don't know why this place chooses this version...not very utilitarian. Maybe more cost effective for them? I paid 14 bucks for my two rolls - one of which was inedible. The philly roll was kind of gross, more mushy than other philly rolls I order from other places and was kind of warm... And the pieces are cut very very large. I've honestly had a better philly roll at Marianos, from the pre-packaged section. This was gross. Very disappointing meal. Will not be back. read more

I've ordered takeout and had food delivered to my home so I can't speak for the service. The few times I've ordered food was due to how close I live to Little Wok. The food is too salty and I find myself having to douse tons of water after eating the food from here. I've ordered a variety of dishes and soups and they were all salty. I was surprised they have Korean food on their menu but it's not authentic so don't expect to find real Korean food here. All in all, the saltiness of the food is keeping me away from Little Wok. If they go less on the salt, I wouldn't mind continuing to order food from here. read more

Was craving Chinese, and this place is around the corner, so ordered delivery for two adults and two children. Pros: Quick delivery, HUGE portions, great chicken (not gristly, which I get is a textural thing but puts me off quite a bit), flavorful sesame chicken, solid vegetable rolls (2 per order) Cons: The potstickers were pretty underwhelming - it was almost like they were too big and too overstuffed, which made for a dried-out potsticker - I would not order them again. The General Tsao's was... fine? I wouldn't order it again either, but then again it's not my go-to dish. Looking forward to hitting this place up again for my family of four. In lieu of two entrees, we'll get the sesame chicken, veggie rolls, crab rangoon (which are GIANT) and a miso soup for me. I ordered delivery for lunch. First time with this restaurant based on the excellent DoorDash reviews. Maybe the Chinese food here is good, but the sushi was a huge disappointment. The tiniest portions, yellowtail sashimi appetizer was two extremely thin slices with no seasoning, the tuna tartare was maybe two Tablespoons if I'm being generous and the tuna was like mismatched scrap pieces, poorly seasoned. So we're in this pandemic and self evident that restaurants are conspicuous about the way they prepare food right? Well that's not the case for our friends at Little Wok Evanston. I ordered food from here and to my surprise my chicken was prepared w/a paper clip in it. I can not make this up, with breading and everything. And it wasn't like the manager showed any type of remorse, no his response was "how do I know you didn't put it in there." Really sir? And refund, nope he told me to go through Uber Eats because it was a 3rd party order. Wow won't even take accountability for this. Last night my best friend surprised me at Little Wok with many others for my 17th birthday. It was truly amazing to share that moment with this place. I ordered the usual California rolls and it looked enticing. It tasted even better. The ambiance was nice/cordial but could be casual if preferred. My friends ordered orange chicken, Godzilla sushi, pad thai, noodles and so many other dishes. They ate a lot! My waiter was really sweet too! I would drive by this place when going to Food 4 Less and always thought it was a hole in the wall Chinese place. I remember going to their website and wondering why such an establishment would have such a modern website and fancy menu. Well, it's not so hole-in-the-wall. Walking in, the decor appears to be kind of modern - brightly lit with a big bar with a TV, (p)leather booths and black tables. The restaurant is small, with only 4 booths by the wall, 4 tables, and a few seats at the bar. Upon further inspection, the wall is a bit dirty, and the table seems to be poorly painted black. Still, it feels like a clean and bright place to eat. My complaints about this restaurant are: 1) 2 quick stir-fry dishes took 25 minutes to come after our appetizer, and no other tables were waiting for food during this time (or at least, no food had been coming out). We were expecting a quick meal and that was completely unexpected. The waitress checked in at 10 minutes and said it was "coming soon." NOPE. 2) While the flavors were good and not overwhelmingly salty, the food was very greasy. 3) The portions and quality aren't worth their prices, which isn't exactly cheap for a quick meal. Also, it's not quick. It reminds me of Joy Yees, with smaller portions but sliiightly better taste (but more grease...) More on the food... -Our appetizer (octopus salad from the Japanese side of the menu) was pretty good, with tender baby octopus and a nice salad and good contrast. Small portion. -The mongolian beef we had was not like any other I've seen in an Americanized Chinese restaurant - this one had normal white onions instead of long pieces of scallions, and a very starchy and sweet, sticky sauce, no crispy white noodles. I think I like the typical ones more... but know what you're getting. -The Little Wok chow fun comes with a generous helping of the protein combo (beef, shrimp, chicken?) for a good price. We didn't walk away with the best impression of this restaurant. I'm torn between never coming here again and giving it another chance for their really cheap sushi menu prices. We'll see. read more

About three years ago when this business was newer, hubby ordered some carryout sushi for us from Little Wok. The rolls didn't look fresh at all, in fact they looked old, and they turned my stomach. We threw them out, were VERY disappointed and vowed not to waste money here again. Fast forward to today, my husband wanted Chinese and the place he recently discovered is closed on Mondays. He hasn't been thrilled with the Chinese in the area; usually we find one dish we like at one place, another dish we like at another place, and good soup or pot stickers or egg rolls, etc., will be somewhere else! We have a friend who swears by Little Wok's chinese, and being minutes from our home, we decided to try again. Just no sushi!! He ordered crab rangoon, an order of beef lo mein spicy, another order regular for our daughter, and Mongolian beef for me. (Good Mongolian beef is definitely hard to find!) He and our daughter both enjoyed their lo mein and he said the spicy had a great kick. We all liked the crab rangoon, except we weren't crazy about onions mixed in there. Who does that? The consistency of the crab-cream cheese mixture doesn't bode well with crunchy pieces of onion, so I was turned off and just ate the outside. My Mongolian beef was delicious! The beef was tender and the sauce was very flavorful. It was very heavy on the sauteed onions, so while I like them in this dish, next time I would just ask for easy onions. Just ordered delivery from Little Wok for the first time (via Seamless), after they sent me a few flyers. Delivery was relatively quick (35-40 minutes to downtown Evanston). Pot stickers very tasty and doughy, which I like. But the cashew chicken was not my style - large pieces of chewy chicken, runny sauce, and baby corn, peas, and green peppers as garnish. I much prefer the cashew chicken from Hunan Spring, which has thicker sauce, plus water chestnuts as garnish. All in, I paid $18 for food, delivery, and tip. We had an incredibly terrible experience tonight with delivery service, which was so so easy to fix. Their website listed broccoli included in the sesame chicken order, but upon arrival, it did not have it. After several phone calls back and forth with both the manager and the owner of the restaurant, I was ultimately personally blamed for not reading the website correctly, and for being told that I should have known that the website menu and the menu in the restaurant are totally different since I have ordered from them before. They refused to give a refund for the one dish, and were unwilling to compromise on another resolution. It's really unfortunate when the customer has to model good customer service, and the business does not reciprocate. read more

I called and they told me literally the day was slow and had already closed the kitchen... We've been coming here almost every weekend for months. This had become our go to place. We went back today and our experience was less than stellar. First, the service was dreadful. They had a young man who was a server there, and he was top notch. He is gone and between our visit last week and today, his presence is greatly missed. The quality of our food was off as well. I had the salt and pepper squid, which is my favorite and it was way too salty. The rice in my entree was very bland, even for rice. This is by far the WORST sushi I have ever had. I ordered a salmon and avocado roll and I had to spit it out after one bite. The salmon was not fresh and was in the form of a paste. Food Allergies? Steer Clear! If you or your loved one suffer from food allergies, I would recommend steering clear of Little Wok. They are not diligent about food prep or apparently the health of their customers. Even though we had flagged a peanut allergy on our order, we still managed to receive egg rolls fried in peanut oil. As I helplessly watched my husband choke on his own vomit as he gasped for air on the way to the emergency room, it made me rethink who I trust to prepare our food. The restuarant accecpted no culpability here, so I suspect they won't take your allergies seriously until someone (who cares to deal with a lawsuit) sues the pants off of their negligent business. read more
