The Tom Yum soup was also a disappointment: murky, overloaded with onions and mushrooms, and easily the worst I've tried anywhere. My family ordered sushi, so I sampled theirs as well, but it was below average at best. Overall, I left feeling genuinely grossed out. The Pad Kee Mao was filled with flavor and I shamelessly ate the entire serving lol. My daughter enjoyed her Basil Fried Rice as well and the shrimp was very fresh and had robust flavor too. Go Black Hawk Maki and the spicy miso soup were delicious as well! We ate several sushi rolls but me least favorite was the Lucky Beards Maki, the imitation crab took over the roll and I personally didn't enjoy that. The flavors are often either absent or oddly off, nothing tastes "right", and sometimes what you order just isn't what you get. This spot absolutely exceeded my expectations. I ordered the lunch special on 2 occasions. The first time I got the bento box. Every component was delicious. The salad was a tasty carrot ginger, the chicken teriyaki had the right sweet and salty and the side of Cali rolls were just right. The time after I got the pad thai. Also very delicious but the star were the crab ragoons. Probably the best I've ever had. Filled to the brim, hot and crispy. Wish I had like 20 more. (The noodles and sauce were equally unobjectionable.) Chive dumplings were really good. Spicy edamame was also good. Some cute gimmicky sushi on the menu. Free parking on the far side of the street, but paid parking on the side closest to the restaurant. Why? I have no idea. That's the nature of street parking. So happy I found this hidden gem on Peterson! I always drive down this street and I never noticed Pride until I did a Yelp search for restaurants in the area. The food here was good! The portion sizes were huge and prices very reasonable. I had the crab ragoon, always a favorite of mine as an appetizer. I don't care if it's not the healthiest! Salmon Avocado sushi roll, this is also always one of my go goes. The fish here is of good quality and I asked for a side of spicy mayo. My main entree I had the Thai basil chicken medium spicy with white rice. The portions size was huge! I didn't get to finish it and I had enough for leftovers. I also got to try the shrimp fried rice, which my friend enjoyed. 5 stars! I'll be back for sure. The staff also extremely friendly. It wasn't busy when I came in and I don't know if it gets busy, but I think a found a new spot for lunch I have also had the green curry which was a big portion size and fresh. Usually when we go out to eat Thai food, the portions are much larger and 2 can eat one entree, but not this one. I can eat up the whole plate and feel only 70% full. Cons - Dirty bathroom (which is unacceptable at any business especially a restaurant), burnt Pad Thai (accidents happen, just make another), salad was not fresh (tasted like they'd taken it out of the freezer after 2 weeks) and appetizer portions were small for the price. How can a so-called Thai restaurant mess up so terribly on Pad Thai! Not sure if it was over cooked on this one occasion, or their recipe is off. The noodles are broken apart, coated with what seemingly is the Pad Thai flavor powder, rather than the peanut sauce... @.@ it ended up looking like Singapore curry noodles rather than Pad Thai! Very dry indeed. The taste is majorly lacking the tamarind flavor, and as a result is overly sweet. Now the protein, beef, is surprisingly dry also, like beef jerky. Did they overcook everything?! Or is this how everyone else got their Pad Thai!? Sorry, major disappointment. I was inclined to give a one star, but thought it wasn't fair since I only tried one dish. Went for dinner and caught their Happy Hour special. This is an amazing deal they offer. Great prices on all your favorite appetizers and sushi. We got the Midori, Three Spicy and All About Salmon rolls. Everything was delicious. MIdori is a vegetarian roll, which is great for vegetarian sushi fans who are tired of avocado and sweet potato rolls. It had tempura broccoli in it alongside mushroom with, yes, avocado on top. Well done with a good combo of the deep fried potato goodness & the sweet sauce over the top. $ 3.99 Shiitake Maki - Love my veggie rolls! Great flavor & will be getting this every time. $ 3.99 Philly Maki - Lease favorite of the bunch but still a good roll. All of the rolls were well rolled, perfectly cooked rice , fresh ingredients and good flavors. $ 5.99 Chicken Pad Thai - Though not my absolute favorite, it was good and I would get it again. Flavors were tasty in the dish. $ 7.99 Chicken Pad See-Ewe - Fabulous! One of my favorite dishes around and Pride's version was one of the tops of my top. What a delightful surprise! This small fusion restaurant is creating some of the most beautiful--and tasty--sushi in Chicago. The menu is about half Japanese, half Thai, and many of the fusion items are spicy, such as their take on edamame, which had a definite kick to it. The beef salad comes with the traditional spicy rice vinegar sauce that would accompany a waterfall beef salad. These were both good, but the stars of the show were the sushi items. We began with a plate of sashimi. Although the chef offers a sampler, we selected our own, and the pricing was very reasonable to get exactly what we wanted. All of the items were very fresh and delicious. Then we tried several rolls. Wow! As you can see from the photos, each was a work of art. I've never had sushi served with such a painterly approach! All three rolls were excellent, and really different from one another. My favorite was the "All About Salmon" which combined salmon, smoked salmon and ikura, balancing them with both creamy and citrus ingredients, plus spicy and sweet sauces. A month ago we tried the high end sushi place across the street, and it was good but extremely expensive. At about a fourth the price, our meal at Pride was actually better, and I'm ready to return any time. read more

Pretty average food for some Thai cuisine. But time to go is during lunch I believe from 11am-3pm because you'll get a great deal on the lunch special. There's a 3 options you can choose from: miso soup + appetizer + entree, appetizer + entree, or the bento box deal. This lunch deal is the whole package and is more than enough to satisfy hunger. However, the three kings roll was not really impressive. That was the downfall... Maybe be picked a bad roll out of the batch but nonetheless is was really disappointing and I don't think I would ever want to go there to ever get sushi but for Thai food, yes I'll come back and get the lunch special because it's a good deal. For my entree, I got the pad kee Mao and I specifically told the waitress to put very little onion and I'm not sure if she failed to mention to the kitchen or if that's what they consider as less onions but my dish had a bunch of onions. My friend had the pad see ew and make it spicy, hers was much more tastier. The appetizer comes with two a piece which is reasonable. I also tried the Thai iced tea and not too impress because it was way too overly sweet. If I was to ever come back is because of that lunch special deal! read more

AVOID IF COLORED. I usually don't write reviews & unfortunately I had to give a star to post this but .... This was the first time I've ever been here and it will be the last. The food could've been passable (even tho it was far from authentic) but the server was extremely rude. I ordered pad Thai and I asked her for it to not be spicy and she looks at me and says it's not spicy and I said in a playful nice way "oh you know , sometimes, some places will make it with a little spice" I was smiling and all and she rolls her eyes and gives me this annoyed look and says "it's not spicy." At this point I'm over it. She brings limes and these limes were dehydrated. There was NO juice in it. So I ask again, brings me another tiny lime wedge with no juice. So my husband can already see how annoyed I am and goes and asks again so she gives him 3 more wedges that has NO JUICE! My husband ordered a curry and gets a stir fry.... Again, annoying. My husband asks for chili sauce & she charged us a dollar .... For hot sauce..... when have you ever been charged for hot sauce? Okay....... Anyways, she would awkwardly stand and stare from different corners of the restaurant and it made us feel uncomfortable, it was like she wanted us to leave. Look, I'm southeast Asian. I know Asians can seem rude sometimes. But this was a whole other level of rude. What's funny is, she was really nice to the table next to us who were Caucasian. She must've assumed I wasn't Asian and seen my Caribbean husband & didn't think my country is neighbors with hers (actually Thailand belonged to Cambodia originally) so she decided to treat us so POORLY. I'm a little surprised I haven't review Pride yet as they are my number one go-to for Thai and Asian food here in West Rogers Park. As always, I found Pride on Yelp and was delighted by their wife's variety of sushi. Pride is located in a convenient place in a neighborhood. On the restaurant walls, you will see how so many residents of West Rogers Park love this location and the family that owns the business. I have ordered numerous times from Pride either by calling in is the Yelp app GrubHub or just stopping and getting some food. The staff is always friendly and professional. They're always put in nice little extras in the bag. I love the containers that they use for carrying out. Everything is ever done with high professionalism and care for the product. My food is still ready whenever I come for pickup. When I've ordered through GrubHub within the Yelp app, every single time, the driver is early with my order, and everything is always hot. My favorite dishes from Pride include Thai fried rice with extra shrimp. I don't know what it is, but this is probably my favorite dish. One serving will last for two days, so keep that in mind. I'm in love with the bear sushi. But there are other Sushi varieties that anyone would enjoy. You might have your favorite Thai and Asian inspired restaurant. Still, I will highly recommend that you try Pride to see if you be won over by their professionalism, excellent customer service, high-quality food. read more

Amazing sushi!! I got carry out from them and the sweet potato rolls were absolutely amazing. The tempura itself was out of this world-- it was so crispy and amazing even for take out. My rolls came in sizes of 6 pieces each, so 12 in total, which is really nice. I would totally recommend them to any sushi lover. read more

Pride sushi and Thai is unsuitable for vegetarians. Their menu is tiny and lacks Thai staples such as papaya salad, spring rolls, and wide noodles. Dishes such a Pad Thai are prepared with pre-made sauces and cannot be ordered without fish sauce. The same is true of garlic noodles. We have eaten at dozens of Thai restaurants in many cities; and have never had a problem ordering vegetarian Pad Thai. Their fried appetizers are fried in oil which were fried along meat items; so we couldn't order those either. In addition ; their vegetarian maki rolls are an afterthought and not worth ordering. Many of the rolls contain fried items; so they are not suitable for vegetarians due to their oil. Definitely be suspicious of any restaurant that offers multiple cuisines. Thai and Japanese food aren't remotely similar. We definitely will not be coming back. read more
