Last Friday night, we went to Live Axe for an event held in the party space on the lower level. This was my first time at Live Axe, but not at axe throwing, so I had an idea of what to expect. It's a really cool looking venue inside. When you enter from Lafayette, you'll walk around to the reception desk. When we stepped up, a woman asked if we had reservations. I mentioned the party and she said it was downstairs. Before descending the stairs, we showed our IDs and got a wrist band. We also scanned a QR code to complete and sign Live Axe's waiver form. The lower level space has its own full bar, variety of seating for guests, and (I think) two areas with axe throwing cages. That night, one area was for competitive games and the other was to just try out or practice throwing. The whole Live Axe team - safety instructors, bartenders, and food servers - were great! They were professional but still had a fun vibe and energy at the same time. My husband and I went to the cage area where you could free throw. The instructor there gave us a demo and chatted with us. She was really cool and cheered when we got bullseyes. If you're looking for an axe throwing spot in lower Manhattan, this is a good choice. FYI - Live Axe also has a Rage Room. Overall, I would recommend it!

What a fun place this is! I came here one sunday for a private work out class that was being held downstairs and than after we got to throw some axes! So this place is not only an axe throwing place and a bar, but you can also host events here too. The staff here are very helpful and knowledgeable about everything that has to do with throwing axes. The bartender here is very nice too. Axe throwing is alot harder than it looks. It is soooo much fun though! It is a great activity for a rainy day, or a work outing or just with friends and family. This place has multiple axe throwing cages both upstairs and downstairs. There are also two bars. The one downstairs is alot bigger and nicer than the one upstairs. If you find yourself in this area and want to try a new activity I highly recommend this spot. Also, it does not matter if you're new to axe throwing or a pro. The staff here will teach you everything you need to know to be able to get the axe on the board.

I'm torn on what to review this. I'll start off by saying that I am not a fan of axe throwing - I've done it twice before and I'm not particularly good at it. However, our company was hosting a party here so I needed to participate :) The two employees teaching us how to throw were very detailed and helpful. They stuck around the entire time. The bar staff was fast and pleasant, too. The food was just ok. They have a cool photo wall downstairs and the bathrooms were very nice!

My husband took me for Valentine's Day and honestly it was the coolest date. We had an online reservation and check in was seamless. There's a large clean bathroom downstairs with photo opportunities around it. We did the 2 people cage with Brendan who was AWESOME. He was very friendly, patient and supportive. I had never touched an axe before and won 3/4 games by the end. There's a full bar with snacks and tables to hangout. I actually cannot wait to go back again soon and bring some more friends. The facility is close to the Canal St subway stops for easy access.

Such a fun place!! Kevin made it so fun and kept up with our group's stupidity and competitiveness he was awesome!

I found myself at Live Axe for an after-work engagement event. I remember when axe throwing became a thing a few years ago, it intrigued me but I never got around to trying it out for myself. That all changed the other night, and I was looking forward to finally throwing one of these things around while connecting with my colleagues. Live Axe is located near Chinatown - the space is pretty large and is set up were there are different "cages" around the space where parties will be throwing their axes; down the center of the room are long tables where food is served and you can socialize. When we walked in we were greeted by the hosts who walked us over to our section; it was there that we met Gabriel who served as our host. Gabriel went over the roadmap of our time at Live Axe: we we started by doing a couple of practice rounds where he taught us how to properly throw an axe. Then, we broke our into two teams and played some games. It was really a lot of fun - I found it a great way to blow off some steam, and it was great to socialize with my colleagues outside of the office. All the while, Gabriel did an excellent job engaging our group and keeping us on track; he really made the whole experience a great one. Can't forget about the food - the majority of the menu is what you would expect at a combo eat-and-play venue: chicken, flatbread pizzas, a giant soft pretzel, etc. - everything was tasty. Their drink menu is also noteworthy - they have a number of specialty cocktails as well as ones that are tried and true. Overall, Live Axe was great fun - I'm glad I finally got to experience axe throwing for myself, and the staff really made it a memorable experience. I would have no qualms returning to throw some more sharp objects around.

4 stars!! What could possibly go wrong when you mix axes, liquor and beer?? LOL!! Came here with a group of 8 for a team building event. This is a great way to let off steam and get to know fellow work buddies, friends or family members better. What you find out may surprise you. What made it special were the people who work there. I was greeted when I walked in the place, was asked sign a waiver (NO SURPRISE) and the person who kept score, gave everyone tips on how to improve their skills were great. You should plan on making a reservation. During the week they open around 4 or 5 pm. Saturday and Sunday are at 1 pm. The lace was busy so plan ahead. They do offer discounts for groups which should save you a few dollars. All you need to do is check website which shows all pricing. The also have league events if you join their team. The equipment was in pretty good shape, I would have liked see the boards in a little better shape. As mentioned earlier everyone was friendly, they have a great bar, they do serve some food, mainly snack or appetizer food. The entire place was clean and well maintained. Overall great experience, I would definitely recommend them and would definitely come back.

Came this Saturday i booked a shared cage for 7 pm. I was running a little late but still made it. The instructor was nice and very helpful. We only got 30 min but wasn't too bad. I ordered the Mez'kall and the chicken skewers. The drink was good but not too strong. The chicken skewers were cooked well very tasty, but I would've rather leafy greens than the shredded lettuce it came on. My date had the peasant sandwich a whoping $21 jeez; he said it was good, although he had it plain. My second time here after the pandemic, and it was empty but started filling up around 8ish. There is plenty of seating. I like the concept of the shared cage it makes for great conversation, meeting new ppl, and friendly competition. Although we didn't have anyone to share with, it was still cool. The bathroom is clean. There's a big bar downstairs and cute picture ops. The staff was friendly. I will definitely return. I also wish the menu wasn't so limited. Add some fries and burger.

And absolutely phenomenal experience under the watchful eyes of Jason, the bartender, and Gaby the axe instructor. Drinks were phenomenal, and my crew had an amazing time learning how to throw axes for the first time. And there really isn't much else to say about this place besides the vibes are absolutely immaculate and you'll have the best of times thanks to the best crew in the customer service industry. As usual, I stuck with my classic blue Hawaiian and I was not disappointed in the slightest. Great place to blow off some steam after a hard days work!

Went here for a team event and it was super fun. It was my first time and thank goodness I didn't hurt anyone or myself. The staff here are very friendly and the drinks are solid. Can't go wrong with a cold glass of beer or an old fashioned. We ordered some white and red flatbread pizza, pretzel the giant, garden on a skewer (skip this one) and grilled corn a cob (def skip this one). There's plenty of space upstairs and downstairs. We played a couple of games which was super fun and competitive. Would be a fun date night spot as well.

This place has 5 stars because it deserves it! We had a birthday celebration with 8 people so we reserved a cage and everything was fantastic. None of us had ever gone axe throwing before and our cage master, Kevin was awesome. Not only did he give good instruction, he also gave us each individual tips on how to improve our throwing. He also organized a competitive team game which was super fun. Food and drinks were very good, our server Gabby was absolutely lovely. Everyone raved about what a fun event it was. I would definitely go back. Highly recommend for group events, team outings for work, etc. read more

awful. got there on a Saturday at 1:45pm for a 2pm reservation. was told that they were understaffed and running a little behind. no worries. we sat and spent $20 on 1 beer and a seltzer. 2:45pm I finally decide to speak up after multiple parties were shuffled through who came after us. no one owned up to anything. the woman working didn't even remember our name for the reservation and said she thought it was 2:30pm even after she checked us in. 45 minutes no one offered to comp us a drink nothing. we asked for a refund and no apology or tried to make up for the hour of our wasted time and $20 on 1 drink. will not return. read more

This place had absolutely THE BEST Halloween atmosphere for covid. My boyfriend reserved a lane for us to throw axes on Halloween and because of this venue it was super fun and memorable. There was a worker there in our lane with us and she was there to teach us proper throwing techniques and supervise. I have no experience with axe throwing, and have terrible aim when throwing even the lightest of objects (I can't throw a ball to save my life), but the worker that was placed with us was such a great teacher - her patience with me was impeccable, eventually I got the hang of things and my axe throwing came naturally. She set up some games for me boyfriend and I to play together once we got a handle of things and they were a lot of fun too (I'm a competitive spirit so I obviously put my all into the games). I never knew axe throwing would be such a workout, my boyfriend and I worked up a good sweat throwing repeatedly. After we finished throwing, the worker took photos of us and lead us to the bar where we ordered some cocktails and chilled out. I'm sorry I can't remember the name of the worker who guided us through everything, I'm writing this review several weeks after visiting instead of right after so her name escapes me. If I remember I will add it to this review, she was a real superstar! ( She was working on Halloween and had spiderwebs/cobwebs makeup on) read more

Omg this place is so fun!!!! We made 8:30pm reservations for a party of 12 on a Sunday night for a friend's birthday and we had such a blast. Not to mention the food was amazing. I was expecting bar food but it was so much more gourmet. We ordered white flat bread pizza with truffle oil, the baked potato and the chicken skewers. Totally recommend. The service was also amazing. Don't miss out on this experience! read more

Had an awesome time! We came into the city for my birthday and decided to try axe throwing. Eugene was our axe throwing guide and he was so funny, helpful and friendly! He came up with games for us to play and taught us techniques. Highly recommend him and would do it again. I got the Groupon for this and it was a ghost town in there due to COVID! Only downside is drinks are super expensive. read more

I came here for a team offsite last night and had so much fun! They require you to sign a waiver when you first enter and then you are assigned an employee who will teach you safety practices and will facilitate different games for your groups. There is also a bar and you can order food. We didn't choose any food but enjoyed a few drinks. I will say it's very noisy and it got pretty hot inside, but didn't impact the amount of fun we had. Would definitely come back again!! read more

I celebrated my birthday here, and we had an absolute blast. The place itself is gorgeous inside and we loved the photo wall downstairs. Food, drink and music were good too. Nick was our coach, and he was so helpful in giving us tips on how to improve. I enjoyed the different games they had us play. I took my team here for a team bonding event and we all had the best time! Who knew a bunch of co-workers throwing axes would go over so well? Sonny was our host/referee and he was INCREDIBLE! He had the best energy to hype us all up, provided really impactful coaching on technique, and made the impressive effort to learn all of our names. I had so much fun here and everyone was so nice and the drinks were great. The downside was we had a reservation for 2 but were told we had to wait until 3 and even then we still had to wait. But because of that, the owner provided us with a free drink. I would definitely recommend and come back. It was an awesome experience! read more

We spontaneously decided to come after dinner and are so glad we did! It was pretty expensive ($50 per person compared to ~$30 at other places) but I guess that's NYC for you. We had Sonny as our Cage Captain and he made our experience. He was super engaging and patient with the training and games and got everyone involved. read more

This place was better than I imagined it was going to be. Learning and actually doing axe throwing was quite a workout but it was fun as well. Our axe throwing coach Sonny was beyond the best. He was patient and made sure we understood the axe throwing mechanics. If you come here you guys should definitely ask for Sonny. read more

My team and I came in last night for a happy hour and had a wonderful time! Danzel was our enthusiastic and very talented host. He taught us a few different games we could play with our team of 6, and really got us in the competitive spirit. Live Axe is a really cool space, it's clear how much planning and work went into the aesthetic. My favorite part of the bar is the wall of roses and skulls downstairs. They have a fantastic beer and cocktail list, with lots of local and classic craft beers. I can't wait to come back and throw some more axe! read more

Had a great time. Once you confirm your reservation with the front desk you get seated in a waiting area. The music is good & the drinks are good didn't get a chance to try the food. When our cage was ready we had Sonny & he was dope. I was wondering how would they make axe throwing interesting & Sonny delivered lol. He had several competitive games for us to play. I had so much fun and you would think 45mins would fly by but it didn't & you work up a sweat lol I definitely recommend this place for a fun date or night with your friends read more

This place is perfect for a night out in the city!!! This is such an original concept, the first and one and only of it's kind in Manhattan! it was so nice to hang out with my friends there, service was great, awesome bar with kind and helpful service as well, food was just perfect in combination with the drinks, and Axe throwing was super entertaining! Just got home from an afternoon of axe throwing and food. My kids (20, 18, 12 years old) and I all had a really fun time!! Everyone working there was super nice, had a cool vibe and the axe throwing was excellent. Sonny was a terrific instructor, too. He was safe, thorough, engaging and fun. Really took the time to get to know us, make sure we all had tons of throws and had awesome commentary during the competitions he had for us. We would absolutely go back again! read more

Had such an amazing and fun time today. Sonny was my instructor today and he was super fun and made the first experience here an amazing one, had fun competitive games to make the session way cooler. I would definitely recommend coming here if you want to blow off some steam of just have a fun time throwing axes. I will definitely be coming back in the very near future. read more

From the moment I walked in, the staff welcomed me with open arms and made me feel completely at home. Their friendliness and enthusiasm really set the tone for the evening. There was a manager hanging around making sure things ran smoothly and our server came by to check in a few times. So it really pulls you into this sort of portal where you're fully locked in on games and then you look up and its been 3 hours, love it. Drinks are fine but they are a great price. Got the Waaaluigi which was really tasty and pretty unique! The wonder punch was a classic tropical rum drink and good but was a little watery. Absolutely LOVE the music here, both live and regular music through the speakers once the live shows are done. This place is pretty sweet as you enter and feel the inner child/nerd come out. It's great place to bring the boys out to hang out, a place decent date night with your partner and for anybody in general. The employees were nice to introduce me to their specialty drinks and other items. I ended up getting the Appletini which had a somewhat sweet yet sour taste. Pretty good 7/10. I do recommend playing the weather simulator game since it has a bunch of options to play solo and coop. Then there's the box bird game that pins two players to collect as much points as you can. Pretty simple. I did enjoy this fighting game that doesn't require much knowledge. It has your simple lows and heavys and an auto combo. Pork was a great character to play with. Definitely recommend coming here
