My experience was terrifying and I absolutely hated it. I've seen their work from outside the window, and it was painful to watch. I took my puppy there couple of times because everywhere else was booked. when I took her there the second time, she started trembling with fear. They did such a terrible job it traumatized my puppy. Took her to petco hawaii kai they kept her for 6hours didn't work on her until I said something and Chloe came home cut. They cut her tail with the buzzer! I am extremely happy to report that we had a great experience with the teeth cleaning service they offer here on occasion. I've always struggled to keep my dog's teeth clean from early puppyhood. Even with daily brushing with the special gel from the vet we still had lots of build up. I was a little nervous taking my dog in for a teeth cleaning, because he can get a little shaky at the groomers. Great groomers. Boonies was very helpful and professional and kind to our dog. Our dog came out well groomed and energized.

Our two bichon frise pooches, Coco (11ish) and Moco (9) are the worst when being groomed. Coco is so bad that he was kicked out of a salon a while back for being aggressive. He's even had to be muzzled at the vet for a nail trimming. Prior to discovering LLP, we groomed them both by ourselves and they hated every second of it. Coco, the male, is very dramatic and growls (SCARY-snarling-biting-he's gonna kill you type growling), whenever you touch his legs or try to clip his nails, and does not tolerate accidental hair pulling (he screams like you've broken his bones or something!). Moco, the female on the other hand, hates strangers and is a nervous wreck whenever you try to groom or bathe her. She tries to hide as soon as she knows something is up, and once you pick her up, her eyes bulge and the rigor mortis sets in. Although she would never growl or bite, she always tries to pull away from your clutches. :/ it takes about two days to shave both of them down (nice-ish) just because they are so intolerant and difficult. In desperate need of a break from all of that, and the dogs in desperate need of grooming, I was desperate to try to find a salon that would try to groom them. So after digging through the Internet and being met with disappointment (most places don't take dogs that have a history of biting/aggression), I found Live Love Pet. After reading on their website about their compassionate approach to grooming (and lack of caption: "no biting dogs!"), I emailed the owner, Krystal. She responded within 12 hours (pretty quickly IMO) and said that they would be happy to try grooming our dogs! Krystal matched me with a few of her groomers who might work well with our difficult dogs. The next day, I called and made an appointment for the both of them with Yuka. We drove to LLP, parked in the spacious pay-to-park lot, and arrived about 15 minutes in advance, pooches in hand. Coco and Moco were acting just fine for the whole car ride and even when we took them into LLP. They were not cowering or shivering at all (they shiver out of nervousness when we go to the vet) and seemed okay with being there. It smells and feels nothing like a vet clinic. No bleach/sterile smell, and the perfect temperature with a little fountain running in the corner. Oh! They also sell Orijen foods which CocoMoco and our cat eat. We met Yuka and filled out forms, then allowed the pooches to meet their new "aunty." Yuka was very kind and gentle with coco and moco. Neither were afraid of her (remember what I said about Moco -hating- strangers) and both of them went willingly with her into the grooming area. We said our goodbyes and left to find some lunch. For the first hour that we were gone, I clutched my phone expecting somebody to call and tell us that our dogs were too awful to be groomed. But that call never came :) I love the location of Live Love Pet since there's lots of food choices...froyo, coffee shop, ramen, vegan... and it's right across from my beloved Otto Cake. Kahala Mall/movie theatre/Whole Foods/Petland is only a short drive away, so you can get a lot of stuff done, or be entertained and stroll around while waiting for your dog. Yuka called me when they were done. I didn't really know what to expect but when she brought them out We were amazed. Our pooches actually got styled! I thought at best C&M would just be shaved down because of bad behavior but I was totally wrong. Coco was adorable and was given an orange bandana. Moco's top head fluff got a trimming and was tied into a ponytail with a checkered green bow. When I told Yuka the story about coco being kicked out, she was shocked since both of them were really good for her. Coco even let her trim his nails and touch his paws and legs. He doesn't even let us do that! I guess Yuka has the magic touch. Coco and Moco have never looked better and have never in their lives had a better haircut. Yuka made them look and feel so young again! (See my pics) you could immediately tell how good they both felt when she brought them out...they were springy, excited, and happy. Overall it was a great experience for the dogs and us humans. Yuka is a truly kind and compassionate groomer and our dogs love their new aunty. Oh! LLP also has these funny dog treats that are dog-shaped. I got a kick out of them although Coco and Moco weren't really in a treat mood. Maybe next time. We will surely be back. Thank you Krystal and Yuka. We are so grateful to be able to bring them to LLP. There IS hope after all, for those difficult and seemingly-impossible dogs in need of a groom. read more

BEWARE! This groomer practically cut our dog's extra toe (dew claw) off! It was bleeding and hanging over halfway off. The vet said it was a bad cut and we had to pay to have it surgically removed, and cauterized due to the excessive bleeding. Live Love Pet offered to pay for 50% of expenses, but we need to cover the rest of the care and cost. I'm outraged and will never bring him back! read more

I was apprehensive because I have a reactive dog who has been groomed elsewhere twice since we got him in February and he was a nervous wreck. Even with a tranquilizer he barked a lot and tried to get into my arms when we picked him up (yikes, he's a standard poodle! ) However, when I picked him up from Live Love Pet he was calm and quiet. They told me he didn't bark much and since he was nervous they took their time with him. They gave him a lot of breaks between the various services they provided him to let him quiet his nerves. As a result, it took most of the day to finish him, but it was so worth it to see him behaving normally and not barking his head off. And he looked really handsome, they did an amazing job and even plucked his ears which none of the other groomers was able to do. I took my rescue dog to Andrea at Live Love Pet. He was filthy, had some remaining flea and ticks after 2 medications, and really dirty ears from having had fleas, ticks and possibly earmites. She took him it gladly and turned him into a new dog. 3x bathed, blueberry facial, ears cleaned, teeth clean, nails trimmed pad fur trimmed. When I picked him up, the happiness that exuded from him was pricelss, although the price of all those treatments was minimal in relation to all you get. Parking is either meter on 12th street or the 12th street parking which is metered. 11th street parking is a ticket and a kiosk so may be more humbug if you are dropping off and picking up. It was my first time so I put in one hour and they took care of me in 5 minutes! I could've saved $1.25 in parking- LOL! They took such great care of my senior chocolate lab! She lives water but baths are hard for her and they called me to let me know the challenges she had and how they let her rest. I didn't plan for the extra time but luckily my day was pretty flexible and it worked out. I was so grateful they monitored her and watched out for her. I picked her up 2 hrs later than the planned time and she had so much energy. She smelled wonderful and I've never felt her so soft. With their usual oily coats, I didn't know it was possible! It was further from my home but worth it and I feel like if I couldn't pick her up, they would've accommodated until they had to close. I may try a mobile service just because transportation is hard for her. However, it may be hard to live up to the service of this place. They did have to charge an extra $10 and they didn't tell me until I had to pay. It didn't matter to me for this business but in other situations, I usually like to know ahead of time. It is so evident in how gentle and caring Krystal is with my dog that she knows what she's doing, and really cares that the dog is not stressed or in pain. Difficult to review as we weren't happy with the grooming. Crystal the owner however earned my respect in that she didn't give any excuses or a difficult time and fully refunded our money. The lady had class. All the stars were given for that reason. BTW one of her employees did the grooming not the owner. While she was dealing with us I saw a Yorkie on the table with a beautiful cut that Crystal was doing herself. Interesting note, she has a diplona for a degree in education from Indiana university. Just picked up the fur baby from the groomers and Andrea was wonderful. At first seeing how kinako was reacting when we first got there--scared and all I was a bit anxious as to how she would do. After a few tries at different groomers I would shave her myself but she would not allow me to do her anal gland expression at all. That is the part of grooming she hates the most, so I just hoped she wouldn't snap at Andrea. When I walked to the door to pick her up she was jumping and happy. However, this is a must, since my little girl Kolohe has been coming to Live, Love, Pet for over a year and I have always been extremely happy with their service. Krystal and all her staff are truly amazing. I know only took my girl, Kolohe, in for a much-needed spa day, my partner & I also added her two boys to the mix, Shadow and Kalani (her new adoptee). No easy feat since quarantine has made us all in need of a Pedi and hair cut. They walked out like they owned the world. Shadow who has some horrible skin allergies was treated to an extra pampering of moisterinzing for his skin/coat.
