First time and last time. Made an appointment and they weren't ready for me for 20 minutes. Got mani/pedi. Both sub par. I had to ask the manicurist to clean up 8 different things on my fingernails, and two mistakes on my toes. She made an exaggerated shrug and rolled her eyes as if I was being nit picky when in reality she did a really poor job. I was being as diplomatic as I could, and shouldn't have to point these things out. So unprofessional. There was one nail that we couldn't get the red nail polish on the side of my cuticle bed to come off -- turns out it was blood! Wow. My friend went too - nails look amateur. Nancy! She's THE BEST! I hesitate to write such a stellar review for fear that I won't be able to get in to see her as easily as I do right now, but she so deserves this review. Nancy is one of the few manicurists I have ever gone to who consistently gives me a perfect set of acrylic nails each and every time I go and see her. She never seems rushed, even when I know she has a full schedule and people are in fact waiting for her (after me). She does all the little extra things that so many other manicurists do not do after awhile. She is pleasant all the time, without being annoying and too talkative if you happen to be feeling somewhat quiet that day (which is nice). She is always on time schedule-wise and if she is a little bit off schedule, she lets you know immediately and it usually is never more than about 5 minutes off from the scheduled appt. time anyway. She double checks the length of your nails after she files them, which many others do not and she actually listens to you when you tell her what length you DO want them that day too! Sometimes I can't decide what color I want and she will give me her opinion and welcomes me bringing in my huge zip lock bag of nail polish bottles of different colors (other manicurists have seemed annoyed when I have done this in the past). Enough said about this great artist, and an artist she is. You won't be disappointed if you make an appt. with her. This place has gone downhill. I used to come here three years ago and the service was much better. I recently had a French gel manicure. Only one coat of the white polish was placed. My nails felt so thin. Normally when I get a French gel at least 2 coats of white polish is used for the tip. No surprise it didn't last and my nails broke and chipped after 1 week. My mom also came here and said the girl who worked on her was rude- she asked her for a specific color (brand and name of color) and the techs response was along the lines of "all the colors are there- go look over there" in a rude tone. It's Friday and everyone wants their nails done. I get that, which is why I made a 3 O'clock appointment. I arrived at 2:55, by 3 I had my nail polish picked out from an okay selection. At 3:10 I was directed to chair 7. The lady who I presume was to do my nails told me to sit and put my feet in the water and she would be right back. At the same time a customer asked her to wax her eyebrows and off they went. So I put my feet. In COLD water and waited and waited........... By 3:30 NO ONE had said a word to me the eyebrow lady was still out of sight. So I put on my shoes and walked out. I had been there for 30 minutes!! When I walked out man said just a few more minutes. I said 30 has been enough. It was clear when I walked in I should have walked out. There were so many people and they were clearly over booked. I wish they had just said they didn't have time for me. So now I've wasted and hour driving there waiting and driving home for nothing. read more

I have been desperate to find someone who can do pink/white gel nails well. I used Yelp to find Livery Nails and called because the reviews were so good. I was very lucky to be able to be serviced as a walk-in. Tran is exceptional. He knows his business well and made my pathetic nails look better than anyone I have gone to. He kept assuring me that he knew what to do and was experienced. He really is that good. His prices are reasonable and the shop is clean and bright. His brochure even states his shop/company goal on the back and includes a mention about how he assures cleanliness. When have you ever seen a nail salon even care about that? I'm ultra picky when it comes to finding a good pedicure and I'm pretty sure I've tried most of the salons in Danville and San Ramon, even Good Nails in Dublin. I found a winner! The ladies here are so nice and actually talk to YOU, not in Chinese the entire time to their follow workers, I think that's always pretty awkward. They are very meticulous when it comes to using clean tools and fresh tubs for each person--HUGE. Also, they take their time in really getting your toes perfect before they polish them. The scrub they use is amazing and the scented salts they put in the water--nice touch. They area always welcoming walk-ins and unlike other places, don't rush your treatment in order to get the next customer started--I can't stand that. All of the girls in there getting acrylics--their nails look awesome. If I were still into fake nails I'd definitely get them done here. Only negative is that they don't have a very good selection of polish and the polish they DO have is some off-brand, cheap looking kind. I'd suggest bringing your own. I went in yesterday to get ombré French nails done. I usually go elsewhere but my place didn't have any time for me and I had broken a couple of nails off and needed them fixed. I called livery nails as I had been there in the past and liked it and they were super accommodating with my scheduling; I worked until four so I couldn't come earlier. They said they had another person at 5 so if I made it at four or four o'five they could fit me in. I made it there on time and was immediately sat and started on. Tran did my nails (the male at the front) and did an amazing job. I showed him pictures and he asked how light or vibrant I wanted the pink, if I had wanted sparkles, how I like the length and shape etc... most places I have been to aren't this precise in my opinion. He took his time to make sure my nails were perfect. He also told me how much it would be before he started which I love! It's the worst when you go into a shop expecting to pay a certain price and have them say it's more when you're paying. It was $45 for my nails which I thought was fair as the ombré French isn't easy to do and because I had a few broken nails. Would recommend this place to anyone! read more

I had heard great things about Livery nails or should I say one of the men that works there. So I gave it a try for a shellac mani however I got stuck with Kathy (newbie.) Unfortunately she didn't speak English and when I asked for colors that were the name brand Shellac she had no idea. Finally two other ladies finally helped out. Then she did a horrible mani and shellac job - thick. Needless to say, my chipped and then two broke and then finally the nail polish started to peel off. So it lasted just about a week. Even though the salon was full of clients we were seated immediately and all next to each other. The three things that stood out the most were friendliness, quality and price. Purpose: Wanted to give this a try based on YELP reviews About Me: I work in HR. I study and assess organizations, businesses, groups and find ways to make it function more effectively & successfully Will go back? NO and here's why: ************************************************************************************************************** CLEANLINESS - 0/5 -Ventilation is very poor. The only air circulation came from the door. I came out smelling like Tide or whatever cheap laundry soap they used for the towels that were used on my hands and feet. -Chairs are very spaced closed to another. If I stretched out my arms, they would hit the face of the customers seated to my left and right. It was very cramped. -Ledge behind the chairs are very dusty and it boggled me that they stored nail polish there too. -Leather chairs were old. Leather was chipping off, seat quite sunken. -Nail polish hap-hazardly stacked and also dusty -Magazines were all over the place. -The brushes and scrubs they used on my feet were not new. They were used recycled. They use the same tools to clean the foot tub - it was a big yellow (sort of like a hair brush) that was used to clean my feet also was used to clean the tub. AMBIANCE: 0/10 -Everyone spoke their native language, almost the entire time. The techs would occasionally speak in English but only when spoken to in English. -Customers arrived and waited for 10 minutes before they were seated. Every time a customer came in, the owner or the lead, Nancy would alert her team but barking out orders in her native tongue and the only think I could understand was "shellac" -Rushed is how I felt. The 2 technicians who did my feet and hands were kind of in a hurry. The lady who was massaging my legs drifted into space and ended up massaging not my calves, but the upper part of my ankle. -In 30 minutes, 5 customers arrived, felt like an assembly line. -One customer who sat closely to me seemed to not care about the other customers as she took from what it like was a business call the entire duration my service. I left and she was still on the phone. TECHNIQUE: 2/5 PEDICURE SERVICE: The tech who did my feet was diligent and detailed. She had a heavier hand and sometimes was rough when she was filing out my nails. My cuticles were okay, no wounds our cuts. Nail shape is good okay. Scrub/Massage, very poor. MANICURE SERVICE: Tech smoked. I could smell the lotion she used to cover up the smell of nicotine on her hands which failed miserably just because my hands smelled of nicotine after my massage. Nail shaping, cuticle cleaning and overall service - very poor. The shape of my nails were uneven, and there are a number of left over cuticles that were not cut properly, again I think this is due to techs being rushed. CUSTOMER SERVICE: 1/5 -Poor if not with Nancy. Nancy seems to be the matriarch and from how I've seen her (she serviced this customer who was on the phone) her technique quite admirable. The return customers seem to have a good experience with Nancy and this is quite obvious with the other reviews. -The techs were polite and cordial but the technique is not at par with the soft skills TYPE OF CUSTOMERS: -Saw mom with 4 girls, businesswomen, about 3 elderly/senior ladies and your average lady who just wants to have a relaxing, pampering, mani-pedi. You will not find socialites, nor dignitaries here. PRICE: Cheap $/$$$$ OVERALL: High potential if the basics are covered. Clean space, respectful customers and staff, great hard skills and technique. This establishment seems to specialize at Shellac manicures, glitzy, glittery designs. The biggest sell in this business is the price and last minute but great service you can expect from Nancy. When I first walked in, I thought I'd have to leave, but the person at the front desk assured me the smell wasn't as strong in back, because he (in the front) was doing acrylic nails. I have been coming to Livery Nails for years. I went in yesterday for a mani/pedi. I informed the tech that I had just returned from Yosemite and my heels were extra dry and rough. I was pleased with the service until I got home and sat on my bed. My heels were still dry and rough, so much so that you could hear it when I rubbed my feet on my comforter. I returned today confident that she would fix her error. I was wrong! The tech assured me that she did her job. I showed her the dry skin on my heels and she said "I worked on you a long time, remember?" Now, she did give me a nice long foot massage but that's not why I went to the salon and that doesn't get rid of dry, dead skin. Then she said there was some sort of additional treatment that costs $5 that she could've done. Well, if this was offered day of service, I would have got it done. So, she refused to fix her problem and I left very surprised and disappointed. I will not be returning nor will I recommend this shop to my friends. read more
