When I complained about the 2" head on my Guinness, I was told that I didn't know how a Guinness was poured. I've been drinking Guinness longer than this person has been legally allowed to pour it; and yet I was treated like I was the fool for wanting it to be fixed. Poor Food and Service Like the people and the story, but that's where it stops. Liz's is good size spot cut into two sides. Bar with live music (paid cover to enter) and then the restaurant side with a 12 seater bar. Description done. Now, I don't want to be negative, but to start we sit at a hightop table and wait 15 minutes for anyone to come up to us. We order draft beers and they get to the table 10 minutes later. The place wasn't even busy. The beer was not cold and the draft lines must have been dirty because the beer was stanky. Not a good start. We order a couple of salads, steak tips and caesar. Now, let me tell you, the steak tips were not tips. Cutting a crappy steak up into chunks aren't steak tips. Awful. My wife got a simple caesar salad with chicken and it was wilted with chicken that looked like it was cut up into chicklet size pieces. It was came with ranch dressing. Forgot to add that these salads took another 45 minutes to arrive. Terrible. Once again my apologies but this was one of the worst dining and drinking experiences we have had in a while. Some many areas need improvement. If you don't have steak tips, you can't cut up an old sirloin into small chunks and then cook them well charging 25 dollars. Hard pass read more

We popped in here for a quick bite as we were in the area. What a great spot ! It' a def a neighborhood bar with a lot of locals. For good reason too. The bar tender was attentive and made sure our drinks were full. We started splitting A half order of nachos. It was huge ! And so tasty. Loaded with toppings. Hubs had a small pizza and that also was huge. Looked great. I had A wrap with chicken and avocado that was quite tasty. It came with a lot of fries. We noticed this Liz's Tavern in the strip mall adjacent to the town common and have been wanting to try it for a while now. We arrived at 6:45 PM on a Saturday night and waited maybe five minutes to be seated, unsure of their method. No one came over to seat us, so we sat ourselves as we saw others doing. After another ten minutes I went up to the bar and waited there to order a pizza. Paid for it and we waited in a booth for it. Fifteen minutes after that the bar keep came over and told us the kitchen was running behind. No problem. Another forty five minutes past when we decided to question the whereabouts of said pizza and were told it would be an additional wait. At this point I asked for and waited fifteen more minutes for my refund. I think they were just hoping that we would leave with out it. No one from 7:00 PM to 8:20 PM ever came over to ask if we even wanted drinks while we waited. Not a good business model as the wife and I were thirsty. Our overall observations of the establishment were that this place seems to be a locals only hang out for cheap beer, whiskey and eats. There was definitely a vibe of some getting the VIP treatment. We saw two other couples experience a similar fate, except they didn't hang around as long as we did waiting for someone to come over. They left. To be fair, I can't comment on how the food was, as we never even got a sniff. I can only speak to the place itself and the service. The interior reminds me of some of the dive bars you would see in the Malden and Chelsea areas. When you conjure up an image of a "tavern", it is not Liz's that comes to my mind. Floors not the cleanest and eww rug in a drinking establishment. Make sure that your shots are up to date if you need to enter the restrooms. Again, very much like a dive bar. Can't think of a reason why we would ever consider returning for more of that. read more

Love this place. All of the food I've tried has been excellent: pizza, burgers, chicken tenders, salads, wraps etc. my friends like the quesadilla and pulled pork as well. Drinks are good and the prices are good. This place is kind of a hidden gem because it's in a strip mall type plaza. But it's like a good local pub with a good menu. They have live music sometimes and trivia on certain nights. It can get kind of busy dinner time to 9:30, and even more on nights with things going on. Sometimes there are only 2 bartenders/servers on, so yeah you could potentially feel a little neglected. And yeah, sometimes you have to flag them down, but if you're not a jerk about it the service is excellent. But they bust their butts, I've never seen anyone just standing around while people are needing something. This is some of (if not the) best pizza in the area. We went to Devlin's for the first time this evening. There are 2 rooms to the tavern. A main room with a bar and separate seating and a secondary room with a performance stage, booth seating, bar and 2 pool tables. Room one was well occupied and room two was empty (due to COVID, no performances, pool tables covered/not being used). We were seated in the second room (a very large room that we had all to ourselves and had NO complaints about). It was quiet and very comfortable. We were greeted by a very friendly employee and served quite quickly. We started with drinks (hubby had a beer. I had a Diet Coke) and the nachos, which when served looked too big to finish AND have room for our meals... but were SO delicious we almost ate the whole thing. Red, white and blue corn tortilla chips topped with melted cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onions and grilled chicken pieces and a big scoop of sour cream in the middle. Fresh and VERY delicious (next time we will try the chili instead of the chicken). My meal: the chicken quesadillas (served with fresh homemade salsa and sour cream). Most likely the BEST quesadillas I have EVER had! Instead of the usual tortilla, it was a slightly grilled/crispyish tortilla filled with cheese, grilled chicken, onions and peppers. Out of this world DELICIOUS! Hubby's meal: the mushroom Swiss burger served with lettuce and tomato on a roll with their "regular" fries, which there was NOTHING regular about them. Darker in appearance and (word of the day) DELICIOUS! We both took half of our meals home (thanks to those DELICIOUS nachos). We will DEFINITELY be going back. This bar earned two stars, one for each respective reason. It has pool tables, and it has alcohol. My burger was soaking wet, yes. Wet. My glass was empty for 15 minutes before I got my second beer. Bartender was inattentive and didn't think my federally issued passport was real and then was rude from that point onwards. There was a heavily tattooed man with a weird combover thing claiming he and his girlfriend own the bar. He's yelling about a phone call he just had and whilst doing so went behind the bar and poured himself a shot. Which is heavily illegal. I wish other bars had pool tables around here. read more

Last time me and (as I tend to call him) Daddy were at this wonderful drinkery/eatery, he indulged himself with the fried clams... Listen toots, do NOT go to the Cape for your clams anymore. COME TO DEVLINS!!! They were incredible. Perfect batter, perfect texture, perfect weight. Now, as great as the food is here, you won't find a more beautiful or jovial bar staff. First time visit. This restaurant is in the same space as at least two previously failed places, Jalapenos and Patriots (I feel like there was another I'm missing but can't remember). We were told this was bought by the owner of a bar in the next town over, saws signs up a couple of months ago and was curious so see what the new owner would do with the inside. BTW if you haven't been around this area - Devlin's is in a plaze off Rt. 126 but is sunk well below street level. There is a sign out front next to the street that is very visible, but you won't see the place until you turn in and drive down to the parking lot. The plaza IMO is a deperssing place, and the entrance to this place isn't especially inviting. The interior seems the same as the last place but with the mexican decor removed. It feels dark and has a .. smell? to it. It does not feel particularly clean and the booth seats remain uncomfortable. From their printed menu, I chose a beer, they were out. Picked a second beer, they were out. Finally asked what they had and got a drink. Food is very plain bar food. We god sandwiches and fish and chips, all was OK. Didn't have a decidated server, the bartender came from out behind the bar to check on us from time to time. Took a look at the 2nd (function) room. Looks like a few booths, a secondary bar, a couple lone pool tables (not sure if they were available for use) and a big empty space in the middle. I assume they would have live music set up there, but I didn't see a riser or dedicated area for the band, then again I didn't look too carefully. Honestly, I wish some new owner would invest the time and money to actually rip out the entire space and re-do it with something nice to look at instead of trying to re-open it as cheaply as possible, which what I think has happened again here. read more

Went to Devlin's yesterday for a late lunch with my boyfriend and daughter. It's always good, but everything just seemed elevated. The food and drinks, the service and the wonderful music they were playing were exceptional! I think they might have a new cook, if they do, this person is a keeper! Huge portions and delicious food! Very clean, too! We got Steak & Cheese Eggrolls, French Onion Soup for apps followed by Stuffed Peppers, Fish and Chips and a Classic Burger. Finished up with a Boozy Brownie Sundae! A new restaurant, just opened this week. There were a couple of mistakes but they were handed quickly with an apology. Our waitress was very attentive, helpful and friendly. We tried their boneless chicken with teriyaki sauce. The menu said tossed with sauce, but the sauce came on the side. They were good, the sauce was better with the ranch dip. My husband had the chicken, avocado wrap with tater tots, he really liked it. The wrap didn't fall apart or drip all over. I had the bacon cheddar burger with french fries. It was okay, the burger was thin, couldn't taste the bacon, very dry. I did like the fries, but the tater tots were better. read more

We have been here several times and it's not that the food and drinks are bad because they are not ..., But .., As usual never enough help to point of waiting 15-20 minutes between drinks and having to wave someone over to get attention.. On of our orders was as cold as it sat in the fridge for 30 minutes.. So while 2 of us ate, one of us waited another 25 minutes for a new order that was slammed on the table . We actually like the food here but seems like every other time we come there are problems with service . read more

I took my wife here on Saturday night. The bartender told us to sit anywhere. We did. No one ever acknowledged us. There was wait staff wandering around to tables that already had food and we stared at them and said "hello" trying to get their attention but they simply ignored us. I don't understand why all the tables around us had what seemed like decent service but we were just left to the wayside. After about twenty minutes a woman came up to us and said she was with three other people and they waited for service or about 35 minutes and we're leaving because they were also ignored and they saw us being neglected also and that the two of us would probably not have any luck. My wife and I are fans of the food here and stuck it out until we had been in there for about 35 minutes and decided to try elsewhere. I almost wish you could bill a restaurant for wasting some time of your life that you will never get back. I know from previous visits that this place is usually understaffed. But those have been during lunch hours on weekdays. This is a Saturday night. If you guys don't want paying customers just put up a sign that says you guys are overstretched and to try elsewhere. Really can't review the food because the blonde bartender refused to wait on, or even acknowledge my presence. I sat at the bar for fifteen minutes-she glared at me, refilled other patron orders, and then rattled off the tap beer list to a table well behind me whilst glaring at me. Perhaps a sign needs to be posted outdoors: only known locals welcome. This was by far the worst experience I've ever had in a dive bar. Go to Gumpy's down the street. I swore I would never return to this place but I went Saturday night to support a local band. I now have mixed feelings my vote used to be 1 star. So on the band side of the bar the blonde woman with the chest tattoo was awesome!!!! The guy working along side her SUCKED! He should job shadow her and learn something! I only wish I could have tipped her and not him. He literally waved me off twice only to serve what looked to me like people he knew. If I go back here I will definitely be avoiding him so that I don't lose my cool and openly tell him aloud how much of a terrible bar tender he is and then will proceed to hand the other bar tender a huge cash tip for them only! Came here for a drink with friends. We set down with our friends and was told we needed to be only six to a table. We moved to accommodate that. After waiting a half hour we were told that we were not going to be able to be served a drink because we stood up for a minute to talk to a friend. It made no sense. It's not like CDC guild lines were being followed, people were drinking without having to order food. We were not served due to whatever the staff felt. It was unprofessional and biased. The atmosphere is wonderful... we had Ashley and Iris for waitresses, who by the way, jump in and help each other out when the other is busy... There is outside seating for those who prefer it which is great... I've sat both inside and out and enjoyed both areas... The food was served to us in a decent amount of time... This place was awesome. The food I ordered was the nachos. They tasted great and were very filling. The waitress was attentive but not overbearing and helped me when I needed anything. Been sitting here since 7:30 (it's now 8:50 on a Saturday night), placed appetizers as soon as we sat, and just now got them. Went for dinner with the family. They were short staffed and the owner was nowhere to be found. Only 1 waitress who was doing her best running around making sure to get drinks to all her customers to try to keep them happy. She was smiling and doing her best to keep everyone happy. Another waitress came in later and was not rushing to help out at all. She leisurely went to what tables she knew people at to chat. Food was not very good at all. We had the nachos and they had almost no cheese on them. The salad was good and the sandwich was dry. I visited Devlin's 6-8 months ago & the food was OK- typical pub food. Tonight I went with two friends & the food & service was awful! I am a grilled cheese fan, so I ordered a grilled cheese (cheddar pepper jack) with tater tots. My friends ordered fish & chips and upgraded to onion rings for $1 more; her husband ordered the chicken & alvacado sandwich. We waited over an hour for our food. My grilled cheese came out first. I ate a few tater tots while we waited for my friends food. When I went to eat my grilled cheese, I realized it was on cheap bread that had been toasted with ONE piece of american cheese (microwaved?l). It wasn't grilled? No cheddar pepper jack? I sent it back- even though they offered to remake it, I refused (my son is a Chef & I've heard bad stories of remade food). Anyways, my friend & her husband's food came out at least 10 minutes later (big no no, all food for a table/party should be served at the same time). My friend - who paid an upcharge of $1 - received 5 large/greasy onion rings (20 cents per piece?). They do give you a lot of tater tots, but why upcharge the onion rings if you are only given 5? The fish was very greasy and awful. My friend's husband's sandwich ended up as a wrap & dried chicken with no sight of avocado. Not to mention. the waitress took our food & drink order in the beginning & barely saw her the rest of the night. We returned all our food. They apologized & said they had a party in the next room (poker tournament/weekly league?) and only 1 chef & waitress. REALLY?! You don't get extra staff? BTW - the poker players were eating before us. I was not charged for my meal & my friend did not have to pay for her fish, but they had to pay for the sandwich/wrap. Unless they *invest* in a good chef, go to Famous House of Pizza (across the road) and get a fantastic pizza/meal - they never disappoint! Should have gone there instead! read more
