Love these local gems that are community magnets. Lizton Dairy Bar has drive thru or walk up service. Ample parking and a few picnic tables. And they are actually open year round. The double cheeseburger is made to order with a soft bun and whatever you want on it. Lettuce, tomato, onion, mustard please. Fries are substantial, crispy and salted. Ok, so who can pass up a small town soft serve ice cream on a hot summer day? Not I. I went through the drive thru. Chocolate soft serve for under $2! Service was friendly and super quick. Well, this was a one-time purchase. 2pm. Not busy at all. Drove up to the drive-thru and girl was immediately annoyed. Wanted a burger with everything on it. Was told snarky they come plain. Food is finally ready and because I'm the adult, I say "thank you" as she hands me the food. "Yep" was her response. I was starving or else I would've gone somewhere else. We paid for it and didn't get our cheese fries and soda so we asked for it and was told she didn't put it in so we just paid for it again. She brought the cheese fries but forgot the soda again so we asked for our soda. We arrived 11 minutes after 8PM. According to their website they closed at 9PM, according to Google they closed at 8PM. We took a gamble and showed up anyways. Right as we walked up they let us know they were closed. As we stood in the parking lot figuring out what to do next, they came out and let us know they were willing to serve us. It couldn't have been a nicer gesture that they got the lights back on just for us! I'll always appreciate this place for that! I visited Lizton Dairy Bar on a Saturday in the late afternoon and it wasn't busy at all. They don't have many options so it is easy to pick. The ice cream was fire fire! Like the ice cream was so so smooth and flavorful. I had a heath flurry and it really was tasty. The customer service was where I felt the establishment was lacking. I didn't feel personally very accepted. I felt like the area wasn't very accepting and a poc could feel like they weren't welcomed there. read more

Wow been passing this place for years. Always wanted to stop and never did until today. And I was quite impressed and really regret not stopping years ago. I had the double cheeseburger and it was juicy and very flavorful and it was piping hot. The fries were also just as good. It brought me back to my youth and the way these places always tasted and when you went on vacation or a long drive this is the type of place you always looked for to stop and eat. Soooo a lot of my Brownsburg/Pittsboro/tri west people I know love this place. They can't wait to share what they get when it opens, so when i was in the area I figured I would try. I have high expectations for little places like this. They are kind of old school serving coneys and sundaes. A lot of towns have them such as frost bite in Avon, mrs curl in greenwood for example. So this is what I would compare it to when rating. I thought it was over priced. The little turtle candy on the sundae was a cute touch but overall nothing special about what I got. Stopped in after a day of hiking with my husband and a friend and I'm so glad we stopped! It's just a little spot off the main road through Lizton but they pack a punch. Their food is great! We got mostly ice cream and I chose the vanilla and chocolate waffle cone. It was hot so it melted quickly but it was a good portion and much appreciated after a day on the paths.
