Fundae's is locally owned and they even make they own ice cream just down the street from me. I was craving coffee ice cream and the clerk offered me samples of a coffee and donut ice cream and an Oreo coffee ice cream. After careful analysis, I selected the coffee/donut on a sugar cone. And it was wonderful. The shop is cute with tables inside and outside. They have over 35 flavors and several size cones, cups or milk shakes. Ice cream cakes are available for carry-out (believe me, I thought about it), The clerk was friendly and attentive. There's plenty of parking. In and out of the strip mall is a bit confusing, but worth it. The shop is less than a mile off the highway. Well worth a visit. read more

In the 6 years I've lived in this area I can't believe I've never been to Fundae's. Well, better late than never. First off, really cool interior. I like a certain table that has a futuristic look. Plus, they have games and things for the kids (young and old) to enjoy their sugar high. But off to what this place is all about: the ice cream!!! So many different flavors. And they have in house sodas and ice cream cakes, which is better than baked cake. In my honest opinion of course. My order was a "Fat Elvis" shake which had banana, chocolate chips and peanut butter. And I had them add malt powder to it. That was nostalgic for me because I grew up in the 80s and malt shakes were popular. Oh, and I had whipped cream and a cherry added. The ice cream here from Wisconsin is smooth, creamy, and delicious! Was introduced to The Exhausted Parent after delivering our firstborn years ago. The first bite brought me much joy. I dunno if it was because it was my first flavor from here but it remains my favorite. They have lots of flavors and options to satisfy tastes and dietary restrictions. They do have seasonal flavors and change up the flavors offered in store. However, if you see a flavor on the website but not in store, make sure to ask the staff because sometimes they can get it from the back. The portions are generous so i generally get a sugar cone size or small cup. I haven't tried their drinks yet but curious about their use of boba. The selection is pretty extensive, so everyone should be able to find something they like. I tried the Ube Chai on a sugar cone and was not disappointed. It was light and not too sweet. Although the shop carries additional sweets (like B Happy Peanut Butter), I was only interested in getting some ice cream. The shop is located in a stripmall on the south side of the highway, so access is somewhat awkward. You can enter from the stop light and work your way over, or turn on the east side, but have to go all the way back and come forward again. Weird that they don't have a direct access to the side road there. Anyway, I was hunting ice cream and as soon as I finished parking in the shared lot, I noticed the "Fat Elvis" ice cream listed on their menu. Made with a banana ice cream base, they add peanut butter bits to provide the flavor combo that mad Elvis into Fat Elvis. Undeterred by the calories, I ordered a single scoop in a cup. It is on the expensive side (around $4), but they sure don't skimp on flavor. This was so good! Very creamy ice cream, not icy or dry tasting. Just lots of melt in your mouth flavor. I took my service dog in, and sat with my friend and had my expensive ice cream. I was probably informed that the owner was watching me through the camera and demands to see the dogs tag to prove it was a service dog. The person in the shop apparently wasn't qualified to read it so they wanted me to take the tag off take it over to the machine where the owner could read it. (while, my ice cream melted.). I declined. If the tag leaves the dog, they are no longer labeled and cannot stay. The employee took the tags off against my will. It was 15 minutes of unnecessary unpleasantness. The associate refused to give me information so I can call and discuss the situation with the owner. Furthermore, legally, the employee had no business touching my dog. On a less important note , there were no chips in my mint chip ice cream. And I only found 2 nuts in my rocky road. As somebody with limited mobility and physical disabilities, it is hard enough to get out and live life without the additional harassment. read more

I placed this same review, minus this first paragraph, on Google, but with a 4-star rating. Now that I'm at Yelp!, I see that Fundae's lists "Social Distancing Enforced," but I assure you, when I made my visit, that was not the case. Therefore, I've given a 2-star rating here. I cannot definitively recall the total number of employees working the evening I visited, but there were at least two. One was taking orders, and the other was working the cash register. I think there needs to be a 3rd employee to make sure too many guests aren't entering the store at the same time. Made my 1st visit a few weeks ago. The line was a bit long, which is a great sign! I needed to check ingredients anyway, so I was able to check out their pre-packaged selection from the freezer near the front door. (This also allowed me to distance myself from the groups of customers who were all too close together for social distancing.) Unfortunately, there were a number of selections that contain ingredients I cannot have, which aren't even necessary for the food to contain. But, I was able to find some options that worked for me. And, they tasted good! Selecting from the pre-packaged options also got me going more quickly, since I was able to bypass the line and head straight to the register. The young man at the register was friendly and efficient, and he helped me sign up for Fundae's rewards program. Fundae's ice cream is shipped in from Wisconsin, so that helps explain the higher price on pre-packaged offerings. I love supporting local, family owned businesses, but would like to see their ice cream come from a closer source. But, there is something special about Wisconsin dairy, so I understand bringing in a good product from farther away! Though guests wore masks, because Fundae's allows groups of people to enter their store, there is no way provided to maintain 6 ft. of distance from other customers. I recognize their storefront is small. I also recognize that there is joy in looking over the selections to make one's choice on the spot. However, I personally believe that Fundae's needs to set up so that flavors are listed outside on a menu / picture menu, possibly posted on the windows? And, when there is a crowd, I suggest that Fundae's requests that only one to two people from a group enter the store at a time. This would help maintain social distancing to keep customers and staff safe. I enjoyed Fundae's products, and I definitely will recommend this business to others, as well as return there in the future! EDIT: I very much appreciate the owner's response. I think the groups in the store were so many that it prevented my seeing the spacing signs on the floor. I also must have missed seeing a list of flavors outside, but I was suggesting those for others. I have to see the listing of ingredients, so I have to enter the store. Ours was an unplanned visit, or I would have checked for ingredients on their website first. I forgot to mention that my husband REALLY liked one of the flavors I brought home, I just have to remember which one it was! read more

Yes, yes, and yes. This place has AWESOME ice cream. We eat a lot of ice cream in our household (at least 3-4 times per week). this is worth the drive. Ice cream is creamy with awesome flavor by itself. The mixed in toppings to the flavors really elevated the ice cream to another layer (its not just generic vanilla with minimal Oreos). Wonderful service from the young man behind the counter. Waffle cone was fantastic. I'm absolutely ecstatic an ice cream place finally came around here! And it's hand scooped ice cream! DQ is good sometimes, but every now and then, hand scooped is the best! There were so many unique flavors! We were immediately greeted upon entry with smiles. Everyone seemed happy to be there. Great for kids, families and couples. Everything is reasonably priced as well. Tonight, they were supporting a fallen deputy in our community. Their employees are in training so ice cream was complementary, but donations were welcomed and appreciated. I've been here several times now and love this place! They have a large selection of ice cream that varies greatly. They also have about half a dozen vegan (soy) flavors. They usually only display one or two of those but they will gladly get you a sample from the back. The vegan flavors are hit or miss. The butter pecan was great but I got a cherry one before that was mediocre. Today, I didn't get a vegan flavor and went with lemon poppyseed which was delightful. My son got a root beer float. 32 flavors of delicious ice cream. Fundae's was easy to find and had plenty of parking spots. I was worried about the line that was nearing the door but there were multiple employees working which made the line quick and efficient. It was hard to choose but I got a scoop of munchie madness. Vanilla ice cream with Carmel, Oreos, cookie dough, m&ms, and peanut butter cups. It was some of the best ice cream. Their other flavors looked delicious as well. Well this review has been a long time coming, be abuse shortly after we moved here ( I think it was not even 24 hour from Orange County, CA we stumbled upon Fundae's. Now I really can't come from the perspective of an ice cream snob because I can and will devour almost any kind of ice cream and probably have but speaking from an addict I know great ice cream when I taste it let's be honest when I devour it. It is my opinion that Fundae's ice cream ranks up there with some of the best I've had. In the OC it was B's Candy, Bruster's, Chunk N Chip and Han's but for the Whitestown area so far it's Fundae's. With a huge variety of cool flavors that send your taste bud's down a Jamaican bobsled run, combining some of the best frozen concoctions. And the staff are top notch and are the best, a huge shout out to Tristan, you Da Man. The one downer is the owner he's was there tonight for a special event and our interaction was less than pleasant. A few weeks back we stopped in to purchase a few pints of ice cream for the holidays and a strawberry cheesecake pie caught my eye in the freezer and it did not disappoint at all so needless to say when we went in tonight I was curios about what other pies they might have from time to time, because I never saw them before. Tristan was off duty so I asked him about it and he suggested that I ask the owner because he was there tonight so I went up and said something to the effect of Hey what other pies or things like the cheesecake do you offer he said we don't to which I responded like the strawberry cheesecake he said we don't sell those I said a yeah you do I bought one her just two weeks ago he said not here you didn't. Now at this point I'm getting a little frustrated and I responded to him with well a actually you do and that young man over there Tristan sold it to me you might want talk to him about it. To which he finally responded well it must have been ice cream. I couldn't help but chuckle duh you are a ice cream shop. I don't know if he knew he was coming across so cocky but I heard him talking down to a young girl about putting up a game away properly and that he questioned if she could do it. Other than an owner that shouldn't step out from behind the counter and leave the customer service to the professionals (his staff) the staff service treats and ambiance is great. *****************UPDATE****************** The owner mentioned above (Donny) took the time and peplyed to my post and and respectfully offered some much appreciated insight and impathy regarding our interactions it turns out that we were both a product of the stress of this new existence that we are coming to know as life on planet earth. I walked away knowing that he cares about his business, his employees, and his customers the very way I would hope to care for mine, but reminded that we all need to be more patient, forgiving and kind as life gets more stressful putting everyone on the edge of social disaster. I hate giving negative criticism, but I feel like it is sometimes necessary. I wanted to like this ice cream shop because it's in my neighborhood, but it just doesn't compare to Brics in Broad Ripple (in my opinion THE best ice cream in Indy). It does have some good points though. Pros - Lots of flavors and options (kosher, gluten free, dairy free, soy, fat free, yogurts, low sugar, dye free, etc.) - Lots of parking - Friendly staff, willing to give you lots of samples Cons - The single scoop is literally only one scoop for $3.75. I guess I'm spoiled from getting 3 big scoops for the same price at Brics in Broad Ripple. - The sterile dining room doesn't make me want to sit down and eat ice cream. It feels like a chain frozen yogurt place. No character, like The Scoop or Brics. Hopefully, some/all of these concerns will be addressed at some point. Again, I really want to like this place, but sadly, I don't at this point. read more

Great small ice cream parlor that's a gem in Whitestown. While the ice cream was good and great flavor choices what topped this visit was this: I took my 3 yr old son with me for a special treat. Midway thru his cup of ice cream and all his sprinkles he picked the ice cream fell off the table and spilled everywhere. The girls were so nice they came over and remade it for him as he was nearly in tears. This dad was Uber impressed and thankful.
