This my my italian go to place for lunch lately becase it of their $4.95 lunch special.. I get the lasagna or past combo.. It comes with thir house made rolls.. Really good since I make my own bread. The bad thing is that Even though we are the only diner there at 12:30 on a weekday.. It took 20 min for the food to be brought out. I really have not been there when it ever crowded. Their slow service is not suitable for express lunch since the waitress just sit there while waiting for the food to be ready. They can also update the decor since the booth cushions has scrathes and slumps. I am hesitant to show visitors here since the ambience decor needs to be updated. I support hole in wall places but sometimes I need a place to meet for lunch date. Also it is a cash only whih can be a pain.. My childhood consisted of living with my family every summer in Philadelphia and North Jersey. Pizza there is rarely the pizza you find in Texas, no matter the claims of "New York Style" that most claim on their sign. Crust wrong, no flavor, rubbery, etc. That is NOT the case at Lizzano's. This is the only East Coast-worthy pie I've found in Texas, and I've been looking for years. The crust holds up, will properly fold, yet it's still pillowy and soft in the center. Right amount of sauce, and the cheese is perfect. Reminds me of the by-the-slice operators in NY, NJ, and PA. I actually look forward to the days when I know I'm ordering from Lizzano's. read more

The pizza in its entirety was a bit salty, but I was hungry. I was more disappointed in the wings. You could tell they just put them in a warmer, for way too long. I have to admit my rating slipped to about a 3.5 last night. I have to deduct a little for a side salad consisting of only iceberg lettuce with one small slice of roma tomato and really bad ranch dressing. Little slivers of carrot or cabbage or *something* to give the side salad more flavor would be something, and they definitely need a different brand of ranch (this was definitely not made in-house, it tasted like it came from a crappy grocery store brand ranch dressing). I ordered shrimp alfredo and I don't think white sauce is their forte here. I kept putting more and more parmesan in it to try to give it a little thickness and flavor. It needed salt and either some flour or corn starch to thicken it a bit. The shrimp were good though, well seasoned and not overcooked. I think I'll stick to red sauce dishes and pizza here. They still get props for good prices and great, friendly service though. read more

This is hands down my favorite pizza place ever! The New York style foldable pizza is what lured us into this quaint family owned restaurant, but we've also tried several hot sandwiches and stromboli which are all also amazing! Not to mention the desserts are delicious, especially the tiramisu. They only take cash but the prices are very low so it's completely worth grabbing a $20 from the ATM beforehand. Quiet little pizza place in a strip mall. There was only 1 other party there when I arrived and nobody else ever came in to sit. This was surprising to me considering it was prime dinner time on a Friday night. Complimentary dinner rolls were steaming and warm and came with an olive oil balsamic dip. A crisp outer layer with a very soft interior. Shared the standard caesar salad which is enough to share with two people. Although a hungry person could easily finish it alone. Went for the XL meat lovers pizza for the main course. All the meats were tasty and the cheese stringy. The thin crust beneath the pizza stayed crisp after cooking and being covered in sauce. There was no charring of the crust at all and some of the outer crusts were fairly hard and not chewy. The sauce was not my favorite pizza sauce. I usually prefer a slightly sweeter sauce. All things considered, nothing really pushed this pizza to the next level for me. It was a fairly average flat crust pizza yet I really enjoyed the entire experience and accompaniments. read more

Hands down the best pizza I've had in DFW and fortunate enough to be around the corner from them. The crust sets this pizza apart! The food is absolutely amazing. We typically get a Pepperoni with Jalepeno on it and a Chicken Alfredo, it hits all the feel good places. Now the best part, they are FINALLY accepting credit cards! The pizza is good enough for 4 stars, but the cash only policy is ridiculous. A sign on the door says they are helping customers by not passing along credit card transaction fees. Well, I'd prefer that you pass the $.50 transaction fee to me (average cost for a $20 transaction) than force me to go to an ATM and pay a $3 fee. Most people under 60 do not carry around much cash anymore. Sending your customers to a gas station to an atm with $3 fees is extremely poor service and arrogant. read more

Fortune brought us here. Seriously. We are new to the area and stopped at a pizza place down the street (byob). It was inexplicably closed. Yelped and found Lizzano's near by. It is literally sandwiched between a dry cleaner and another restaurant along side a 7-11. Since the sign on the door said cash only it was good fortune again that the 7-Eleven had an ATM machine. Not knowing what to expect we walked in and were very warmly greeted by a darling young man named Ali. I can tell you his mama raised him right because he was so polite, so knowledgeable about the menu, and so friendly, that before we even had one bite of food we knew we would be back. Ali recommended the Greek salad with both their house dressing's. One was a basil creamy dressing and the other was a vinaigrette. Both were delicious and the salad was abundant with olives which makes it perfect for me. It came with a basket of hot crusty bread and a dipping olive oil and vinaigrette We ordered a large sausage and mushroom pizza and all I can say is that I've not had this great of a pizza since I left the Northeast 11 years ago. The toppings were fresh the crust was buttery and crispy. Molto bene! Sometimes you just come across those places that make you shake your head and wonder why they aren't ruling the world . Lizzano's... what can I say. This is the restaurant yelpers dream of encountering when they search for somewhere great to go. Local and elegantly quaint with fantastic food...that is Lizzano's. A hot spot for my family, I've been going here for a bit over two years. Heading to this restaurant fills me with those storied ideals of having a local spot where you can just go and enjoy being alive with great food. I have a hard time describing my love for their food. I typically go with their manicotti, drenched in their lovely tomato sauce. Fresh and hot, it warms me up and makes me forget about calories pretty damn fast! Paired with their bread, WOW. Seriously, they might have the best bread I've had at a restaurant. It comes out every time piping hot, I don't even need the oil and vinegar to dip it into. Don't even get me started about soaking up the tomato sauce with it... I'd give 5 stars alone for the bread!! Another stand out is their greek salad. They home make the basil dressing, which I would also give 5 stars alone for! Creamy, the perfect hint of basil...Best salad around. Another fantastic thing to dip the bread into... I love it. With all of these amazing dishes, it is incredibly hard to branch out and order something different, but... THE PIZZA. Best margherita pie I've ever had in Texas, maybe ever (I can't think right now, but the fact that I can't think of anything else says something). LOADED with torn basil, fresh mozzarella and huge tomato slices, this pie is ridiculously good. One thing to note about Lizzano's pizzas... The price increase from small to the extra large is like 4 bucks. NEVER order anything but the XL! If you can't eat it all, you've just bought yourself lunch for tomorrow (and it reheats well, I KNOW this (Don't use a damn microwave to heat up your pizza...Oven, oven, oven!)). The cheese pie alone is a stand out, but the ingredients here are heaping and the variety of handcrafted combinations is very pleasing. No need to make your own combination of ingredients, trust Lizzano's! We come full circle with the family that runs and operates Lizzano's. The food enough is 5 star, but the service and friendliness they dish out is brilliantly sincere. I only make it to Lizzano's every couple of months, but they know my face and welcome me... and they know my damn order!!! My lovely girlfriend must eat gluten free, and they know that and remember! While they don't offer gluten free options, they do have an incredible tomato basil soup that they serve her (no croutons!) with the greek salad. The last two times we went, she didn't even have to order! Lizzano's knows and cherishes their patrons, and I will always give them my business for that. Extra things to note, Lizzano's only accepts cash in an effort to bring down prices (success!) by avoiding charging cards. A minor inconvenience, it gives us all a time to avoid the digital world and throw some bills around! One other thing, Lizzano's is BYOB. Paul H. found this place and suggested we check it out because our fellow Yelp friends seemed to enjoy so much. Now keep in mind- this place is excellent for carb loading for cheap- it's not the best place for you if you're on a diet so be prepared mentally. I wanted lasagna and cheesy bread. The cheesy bread was pretty damn good. It's honestly really simple but it transform when you dip it into the lasagna's salty sauce. The lasagna was flavorful and meaty but it was a little salty for my taste. I wouldn't eat it without their bread. I was curious about their pizza so we ordered a slice of pepperoni to try. I learned of this restaurant while scanning Yelp during a business trip to AA headquarters in Fort Worth. I've lost track of how many times I've had a meal here in the past 6 months. Always excellent food. Tony and family (a real "mom n pop business) keep things basic, which is OK with me. I don't need pretentious chain bling.
