    Lloyd's Carrot Cake w Walnuts & Raisins Slice ($6.50)
    Aya E.

Ordered: Lloyd's Carrot Cake w Walnuts & Raisins Slice ($6.50): with signature cream cheese frosting Aya's take: Good carrot cake is hard to come by but I've always heard great things about Lloyd's! I was finally in the area and stopped by for a sweet treat. This location isn't quite your typical bakery where they have cakes and desserts on display and seating. It's a no frills, grab-and-go type of place. As for the carrot cake, it's soft, tastes homemade, and if you don't have an allergy or preference, definitely get the one with walnuts & raisins. The carrot cake was soft and the crunchiness of the walnuts complimented the texture well. I wish the cake was a bit more moist or fresh but the flavors were definitely there and the cream cheese frosting was so balanced yet decadent. Good try!

    The cake!!! The best!

Amazing Carrot Cake. The best of The Bronx if not the whole city! Moist and delicious. Friendly service. No seating. Get your Cake and go!

I came the other day (this past weekend) to get a slice of Lloyds famous carrot slice since it's been a while. And I'm sorry to say that the quality of their baking has gone down. Perhaps today wasn't a good baking day because the slice of cake I received was very oil and lacked flavor, unlike how I formerly knew Lloyds to be. I genuinely got a headache after eating the cake and (for me) that's because of how much oil was used. The service however was decent as always. A nice young man gave me the slice and utensils and that was all. Will I come back to Lloyds again? Probably not or atleast not for a while. I pray everything is well for the owners and the staff. I hope it was just an off day and when I do come back it's better! Much love and prayers are being sent for the continued success of the business despite my experience.

I had the opportunity to try your carrot cake for the first time at a Friendsgiving party, and it was out of this world!!! I will attest to the fact that carrot cake is an acquired taste for many, and everyone really enjoyed yours! I think that this is because Lloyd's carrot cake is moist, not overly sweet, with just the right amount of frosting, and also contains bites of nuts and fruit!!! The nuts and fruit are reminiscent of a fruit cake that mom loves from a bakery from her hometown, which is wonderfully nostalgic! Fun fact, I ordered this cake on goldbelly to my house, forgot that I did not change the address on shipping, so the cake ended up somewhere else. My friend who accepted the delivery saw that it came from Lloyd's and was willing to buy the cake from me since it's that good, and was hoping not to share I let her keep the cake as a token of friendship! Of course I had to order another, and here it is!!!! I did share

Yes, the best carrot cake in NYC. People lined up outside for Lloyd's pre-Thanksgiving. - 11/23/2023

Lloyd's Carrot Cake is a famous family owned bakery in the Riverdale section of the Bronx. Founded in 1985 by Lloyd Adams and his wife Betty, who have since passed away. Today, the adult children continue the legacy of Lloyd and Betty serving many loyal New Yorkers both near and far. The delicious cake has fresh grated carrots incorporated with the main ingredients, topped with fresh cream cheese based frosting. We were introduced to the phenomenal carrot cake by the Van Cortlandt Track Club who serve it at our many award dinners and track club events and races along with prizes. During the holidays people line up around the block to pick up their wonderful cakes. You can order ahead online on Lloyd's website. Enjoy and have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Was gifted this slice from a friend who knew I wanted to try carrot cake from here but I never have the time to stop by here. Was completely mind blown by how delicious this slice was. Amazingly moist and flavorful! Love it and can't wait to go here myself.

I've been wanting to try this carrot cake. I decided to call and order my carrot cake and a slice to eat riding back to CT. When I drove up to the store front. It was at least 10 people in front of me. I decided to ask a guy in front of me if he was picking up an order or ordering. He said he was picking up. That's when I decided to walk inside to pick up my order. The ambiance smelled of carrot cake, and everyone was very friendly. This carrot cake is delicious. It's the best carrot cake ever. I enjoyed every layer from the carrots, nuts, and raisins and spices. This cake was banging. When you're in Bronx, NY, make sure you stop into Lloyd's Carrot Cake. To all my Yelpers, let's continue to eat our way through the world.

I've always loved Van Courtlandt park and it certainly doesn't hurt that Lloyd's Carrot cake has it's original location right across the street from the park. My family used to frequent Lloyds quite often and I'm happy to say that not much has changed. The classic carrot cake lives on, with the option of raisins/walnuts or plain, and a varying assortment of seasonal cake offerings. They sell cake slices, cupcakes, and whole cakes of different sizes. They do ship cakes nationwide and also use some of the many delivery apps for more local service. The staff is kind, patient and efficient. The lines can get long on nice days and during holidays. If you're looking for something in particular, your best bet is to call ahead or get a custom order. There are two locations now, with an outpost in East Harlem but I always prefer to take the ride up and enjoy a slice of cake on the way back. This location doesn't have seating but the park is a great place to eat cake if the weather allows. Come here, get some treats and share with the people you love.

Just a follow-up from our previous review. Lloyds is STILL outstanding. Seriously, if you're reading this and wondering where to get a cake from, just stop. Look no further. You bring this cake to any event or party, people will be talking about it long after it's over. Their carrot cake is the carrot cake that all other carrot cakes are judged against. Don't like carrot cake? You'll like this one. It's just THAT good. I still haven't tried their other cakes, I'm dying to, they look great, they smell great, I'm positive they are great...but their carrot cake? I travel 2 hours for.

I've heard of Lloyd's Carrot Cake years ago, but was never in the area to pick some up. Finally we were close by visiting a park in Yonkers, so we made the trip to grab some. My family grew up having carrot cake on special occasions and now we will this spot as another go to. The storefront is small as there is just the front to order what you want. The day we went was very hot and because they probably have the ovens going in the back to bake all the sweets We got the carrot cake with nuts and raisins, but there is another option without in case you aren't a fan of the mix-ins. The carrot cake was moist and not overly sweet. This is perfect since you get the majority of the sweetness from the cream cheese frosting. It's perfectly balanced in each bite. They also offer other cakes if carrot cake isn't your thing. My husband is more of a chocolate fan, so he got a slice of the double chocolate cake. He liked the chocolate cake as well. Looking forward to the next slice and returning again in the future.

Best cake I've ever had. I never thought I'd even like carrot cake but Lloyd's has me hooked. It's the best icing I've ever had on a cake. They are very quick in there and as of writing this 2 slices for my wife and I was only $10 bucks.

Long lines every now and then, but worth the wait. Preorder if you can, cuts time that way. Take out only. Our favorite is the original carrot cake with nuts and raisins!

It did not disappoint. My wife and I love carrot cake and this is the best we've both ever had. We took an easy subway ride ordered two pieces and sat across the street at the park and enjoyed. This was a great start to any day. Highly recommend

I think what makes their cannoli stand out amongst some of the best is their shell. It's always fresh and crispy. Their filling is a little more vanilla forward compared to other NY institutions version of the cannoli, so keep that in mind when trying one. I'll put it to you this way, if you like Italian pastries, especially cannolis make this place a destination to visit, give them a try and see how it ranks up compared to your favorites. And while you're there, take in the rest of Arthur Ave! Oh, I almost forgot. They have what my husband says are the best savoiardi cookies in the state. They're always fresh, soft, slightly chewy in the middle with a delicately crispy exterior. They're to die for with a hot cup of coffee.

The customer service, the cake, & the taste was all the same as what it was before. AMAZING! I got the fresh strawberry shortcake with crackers all around for a friend's birthday. I was able to get the bakery to write on the cake and buy candles for the cake as well. They boxed it up for me nicely and safely so the cake wouldn't mess up. When I brought the cake to the party it was the main attraction at the end of the night. The cake was sliced and served. Once the guest had that first bite they were taken aback at how BOMB the cake was! They said it was the perfect kind of sweet. Not overly sweet like other cakes and how it tasted so fresh and delicious. Awww man I need you to experience it for yourself! This cake in particular has me in a chokehold! Their selection is extremely large and contains all that you would expect (biscotti, rainbow cookies, b&w's, pignolis, etc) as well as Italian ice and various other treats. The line moved fast, and the workers were extremely helpful as we ordered our rainbow cookies and pignoli cookies with cannoli cream. The pignoli were great...they had that signature almond taste, just right. Very enjoyable. And the cannoli cream center was a nice touch, and very good as well. The rainbow cookies were ok. Admittedly, I have a very high bar for rainbows, so I hold them to a high standard...and they were good, just not as flavorful/almondy as I particularly prefer. In all, Artuso is a great stop. A perfect post lunch/dinner spot to grab a quick snack to cap off a meal. Definitely check it out.
