I made reservations about a month ago for my best friends birthday. I had heard mixed reviews but it's close to home and I thought we could give it a shot. It's a really beautiful place, with a vibe. The hostess with the pixie cut and mermaid eyeshadow wore me out. Our reservation was at 5pm, I called ahead because we were struggling for parking to let them know we were going to be a bit late, the hostess who answered said it wouldn't be a problem. We arrived at 5:15, but they wouldn't seat us until our full party arrived, had I known that I would have booked elsewhere. I already knew a party of 7 women would not arrive at the same time. Instead of having us awkwardly gather at the front of the restaurant they could have just seated us so that we weren't in the way of other guests or the servers with food and drinks in their hands. Finally all of our guests arrive, one hostess gets our name but she disappear, the hostess with the pixie cut and heavy green glittery eye shadow turns to me after I've already given my name multiple times and checked in at the hostess stand she asks me for my name I tell her, she looks at her screen and says well your guests arrive really late so you will have to be out of here by 7:45. The policy is not patron friendly however it's the policy but as a hostess share that with me when I share that my guests haven't arrived, when she said we couldn't be seated til everyone arrive she probably could have included that there would be a time limit because of it. We honestly could have chosen to go where we weren't rushed. We are seated ordered our drinks and appetizers shortly after. I initially ordered aguachile, as an aside I'm a foodie I eat land sea and everything in between, raw or cooked doesn't matter much to me. The ceviche has raw shrimp like completely raw the skin was still blueish grey, the scallops were raw, the crab meat was raw... I have never had a raw bowl of seafood I just couldn't bring myself to eat it so I had the roasted oysters instead. They were extremely salty, not a dish I would recommend. As an entree I'm ordered the lobster, rice was burned, refried beans were also burned and the lobster was gross. Pretty expensive for the food to be sub par. Our waitress was great and super accommodating, I hope she sees this and knows she was appreciated it can't be easy serving 7 tipsy women. I would recommend visiting to say you did it but the hostess and quality of the food wouldn't bring me back. read more

We came to LMNO for an early Valentines Day dinner (highly recommend doing Valentines the day before for less crowds and less prix fixe situations). We had a list of dishes recommended by a friend who had been before and they did not disappoint. We got the street corn, birria tacos, and the whole branzino to share. Everything was amazing and I'd order it all again. The star of the night though was the branzino. It was charred at the edges and tender in the middle - actual perfection. The design of the space was really cool too - see the picture of the bathroom bathed in red light. This place left me so conflicted. The service was great and friendly, from the hosts to our waitress and bussers. The space and ambiance are really cool, even with the blaring music other reviewers mentioned. The drinks were good. The food is really tasty, but is the main source of my disappointment. Our server said most things were designed to be shared, but could certainly be eaten by one person. We initially ordered the guacamole, fried snapper, and two different types of the dirty tacos. The plating of the guacamole legitimately made me laugh. A large plate with a small dollop of guacamole on one side and the rest of the plate empty instantly gave me a bad feeling about the rest of the night. The fried snapper was very good, but there absolutely was not enough food there to justify roughly $40 for that alone. We were mistakenly given an order of regular tacos instead of dirty tacos through our own mistake in ordering, which was no problem, but two tacos with only chopped steak in them for $18 is totally absurd. If you can believe it, the dirty tacos are even smaller! What was described as more like a quesadilla was just two taco-sized tortillas with meat in between, so when split four ways, was essentially just one taco per person. After ordering two more orders of dirty tacos and two dessert, we had already racked up $75 per person and were still hungry! Woof! Never again. read more

The mariscos was a ceviche on a toasted tortilla. The fish was served with roasted green peppers and onions. It came with huge, fresh, warm tortillas. The fish plate had chunks of radishes on the side. Why? I don't really know, except I ate them and they somehow complemented the rest of the meal. As far as food goes, we ordered a few different things just for the table to share. Classic guac to start, which was solid. Kevin took our order all out once & items arrived in a timely manner to our table, making sure our table wasn't overwhelmed with several plates of food. The timing was great, as we did not feel rushed, but also did not feel that we were waiting too long for the next item. We ordered 2 tuna tostadas, an order or carne asada tacos, an order of duck tacos, the snapper chicharrón & a side of esquites. Tuna tostadas were so light & tasted nice & fresh! Both the duck & carne asado tacos were amazing, the carne asada being my favorite between the two as they were so tender & flavorful. The snapper chicharrón was a huge hit with everyone! Along with our food, we got a round of drinks that were all deliciously well balanced. We also got the Mexican chocolate mousse cake. It was very rich with a perfect hint of spice, topped with a passion fruit sorbet that added a lovely fresh tangy aspect to it. We were a group of four, & with 12 items on our check, the total came to just under $200. Came here last weekend with some friends. Immediately afterwards, I was ready to give a 5 star review! Our cucarachas, guac, esquites, shrimp tacos, and mariscos tostada were all delicious. We also had decaf espresso martinis. The next morning, I was 80% sure they gave me food poisoning which I've only had once before in my life. I have to imagine it was the tostada because that was the only item with raw fish. They get 3 stars for being tasty and because I'm not 100% sure they're to blame. read more

If you want festive-summer-vacation-vibes, I'm pretty sure you could get those here even in January, although this was a celebratory birthday dinner in July. I know there are so many great places to eat in Fishtown now, but making the trek over from West is usually a deterrent for me, but my good friend promised me that this would be "my kinda place". She was right. Start with cocktails, of course and don't skip the spicy Margarita. Also try Our Daily Veg that is especially refreshing for a summer evening (green juice, mezcal, chili liquor, lemon and pickled carrot). We sat at a bright yellow table on the shady patio but a seat at the indoor/outdoor bar looked really fun. We shared everything and ordered a feast. Definitely try the pescado saltine. We did and then put in another order! So good! The Vietnamita was delicious! Tuna, Napa cabbage, peanuts, charred guacamole...honestly a taste and texture explosion. Chips and guac and grilled esquites definitely delivered but my two very favorite orders of the night were the asada fries and the pescado zarandeado. Whoa. So the fries are smothered in shaved pork adobada that is tender, juicy and flavorful all packed on top of waffle fries, melted cheese cream and salsa fresca. Honestly, they made my heart skip a beat. The pescado zarandeado is a grilled whole sea bass that is the flakiest, tastiest fish I have had in a very long time dressed with dashi-achiote marinade (that's what gives it so much flavor) shishito, avocado, radish and then you roll all of that deliciousness into a warm fresh tortilla. This was my 1st time going to this restaurant for my gf birthday, we sat outside in the patio area but caught a glimpse inside and the ambiance is beautiful. The day we went there was a bunch of people with kids and babies and strollers everywhere so kind of tight to squeeze through but it is what it is regarding space. Now to what matters most food was good, the Caesar salad is honestly the best thing we ate and I'd go back just for that, the fried shrimps(cucarrachas) come in 2nd they were very yummy and out of the 3 different taco types we tasted we both agreed the steak was our favorite with the burnt cheese and the chimichurri sauce flavors worked great together. The other 2 tacos we weren't too fond of the flavor and chicken was pretty bland. Overall I'd return and get the salad and shrimp for sure but only reason I can't give 5 stars is prices are crazy high for 2 tacos per order. I know places more authentic that you're able to at least get 3 tacos a order for less. Always love coming here with friends. Must get the crab guac and birria tacos. Also my favorite drink is the veg which is veggies and Mezcal. I can drink a bunch of those! Doesn't feel like you're in Philly - feels like you're in nyc which is fun. If you're there on some nights there's the speakeasy in the back but usually have to get tickets beforehand. I know this place is known for tacos but we wanted to try something different so we ordered the pescado zarendeado (grilled whole seabass), ensalada mixta (kale salad), and the grilled esquites (elote). The seabass was delicious; nicely marinated, moist. It was served with grilled shishito peppers and whole green onions that had the perfect hint of acidity, fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, tomatoes, radishes, and flour tortillas. I'm not sure how you are supposed to eat this dish, but I tore a bit of tortilla off, wrapped all the ingredients inside and it was sooo good. The fresh vegetables kept it refreshing, not heavy and greasy like most Mexican dishes. The only thing I wished was that the tomatoes hadn't been cut/prepared too early; they looked like they had been cut much earlier in the day awaiting being served. The kale salad had a nice combination of ingredients - I liked the chickpeas. The dressing was also tasty. Wished the kale was a little fresher. The elote was fine. Not sure why there was liquid in the bottom of the container (the corn is grilled) or why the mayo wasn't already mixed in. Overall was happy with dinner! read more

I've been eating at LMNO for years in addition to starr restaurants in general, actually was a hostess & a server at Starr restaurants before graduating from school. The hostess was very rude, I was greeted by a kind gentleman upon entering the restaurant who let me know I could be seated outside. After this three more parties walked in Joey, who I assume is the head hostess greeted all three parties after me and sat both of them before me, afterwards she asked me what I needed I let her I know I already had spoken to the gentleman who told me I could be seated, he also had let her know I walked in first before she sat the other two, she rudely told me okay well I'm the one who you need to tell because I'm taking over, i then had to repeat myself after already waiting almost 10 minutes before being seated. Definitely rubbed me and my girlfriend the wrong way she was on the phone & heard the interaction and was very upset. She was very rude and it was completely unnecessary. Afterwards our server Spencer was such a doll, very attentive super sweet and funny completely saved the night! The food was also delicious as always. read more

We did a three course meal with desserts, and with every dish that was put on our table, we thought we had tasted the best dish at the restaurant, until we were proven wrong when served the next plate. The dirty veggie tacos were probably some of the best tacos I have ever had. The quinoa in it was such a nice touch I would have never thought I'd see. Every flavor for each dish was so well thought out, plus the place was pretty trendy and fun (which, as a millennial, I go nuts for). It is located in Fishtown, so I didn't expect anything truly authentic, but the vibes were still great with good music! However, unfortunately, I was disappointed with how much food I got as compared to how pricy it was.
