Tried Lo-Lo's Chicken & Waffles and honestly... I don't get the hype. The grits were lumpy, the catfish was greasy and not well seasoned. Overall the food missed the mark. The cornbread was pretty good, and the Cadillac margarita tasted good, but definitely on the weaker side. Came in on a Tuesday evening seated immediately. Order was taken within good time and bathroom was clean. Our order took a minute to come out and did not come out together. There was a few minutes between each dish but that seems like a lot when you're hungry! I got the blackened catfish dinner; the fish was blackened and seasoned to perfection and the garlic butter topping was tasty as well with a fluffy texture. Heard really good things about Lo-Lo's Chicken and Waffles so we had to stop by while in town. Would highly recommend making a reservation or calling ahead as there was a pretty decent crowd and we still ended up waiting even after calling ahead. Our server was great, very friendly and flexible with our groups many requests and adjustments to orders. Shrimp deviled eggs were tasty, they came with a hot honey sauce that really tied the flavors together. We all loved the chicken and waffles, and primarily ordered the Double D meal (two breasts and a waffle)but any chicken and waffle combo is likely delicious. Depends on your cut of chicken preferences. Kool-Aid and Lemonade were great, a little sweet but that's expected/appreciated with those drinks. DJ was great and overall the space was pretty large. Assuming they create a party brunch vibe on weekends and maybe even host night time events based on setup and menu options. Will definitely check out Lo-Lo's again next time we're in Phoenix. The service was good. I did have to wait a little bit for my server but while waiting I was told my server would be out soon. Very welcoming and friendly environment. The food was good, you can get toppings on your waffle and I got whipped cream. I'm not sure if it was extra, but probably. I got chicken and waffles and as a Los Angeles native I love Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles but don't go there anymore for several reasons. So, I was excited to try Lo Lo's. The waffle was really good better than Roscoe's imo, the chicken was kind of warm not hot like I would have liked. They give you a good amount of butter and syrup so that's great. The kool-aid was also very good and I haven't had kool-laid in a little bit so it was a treat. Also, you get a large cup of Kool-laid so you don't need a refill. My server was very kind. I told her I was thinking about relocating to Arizona and asked her about good areas to search. She literally sat down with me and took the time to give me areas to search as well as names of apartments that she recommended! I really appreciated her taking the time to help me with my search. I didn't get her name though. I definitely recommend Lo Lo's and I see that they own other restaurants so I look forward to trying them. Went to Lo-Lo's Chicken & Waffles for lunch on a Saturday during our vacation. We read reviews that were pretty good so we figured we'd check them out. I highly recommend putting yourself on the waitlist through Yelp as they get busy. It was about an hour wait, but by the time we arrived we were 2nd on the waitlist and only needed to wait about 10 minutes. They have a small parking lot but we found parking without an issue. I assume this could be a challenge if they get too busy! First impressions: the place is a little tight, but the vibes were good. They had a DJ spinning rnb and old school hits and the crowd seemed to be enjoying it. It can get a little loud, so for folks with sensory sensitivity this could be a bit much. Our service was super sweet, but we noticed she often forgot things and messed up our order. She was apologetic and did what she could to remedy it. We started with the catfish bites and gizzards. The food took a LONG time. Almost 45 minutes for appetizers and 15-20 minutes after for our main meal. I will say the food was hot and fresh, so plan to wait a bit for your food. I ordered the blackened catfish with dirty rice and sautéed veggies. It seemed a bit bland to me about after adding some salt it was more edible. Our table also ordered chicken tenders and a waffle (which they loved) and a few sides to try. Overall, it as a good experience. The ambiance is super cool, but the service was slow, some of the food items were mediocre, and it just gets so jam packed plan to wait a long time to be seated and to get your food. read more

I'm a fan of a crispy waffle so I also make this request when ordering and it delivered again. 2 of favorites sides here are the Mac & Cheese & Collard Greens. Pricey sides, but worth it. If your in the mood for a lot of sides, I would recommend the Soulfood Platter. As for a cocktail, the Blackberry Paloma... I think I sucked it down like my daughter's Blue Kool-Aid. This time around it was daddy-daughter quality time after a long day of sports. The DJ was on point and blended the right old skool jams that my daughter recognized. The classic was Slick Rick & Doug E Fresh joint that had all the old heads in there doing the lyrics and my kid was looking at me like I lost my mind. Love the family vibe, love the culture & always a great experience. We stopped for lunch at the original location of Lolo's Chicken and Waffles on Central in Phoenix. You can never go wrong at Lolo's! I really love the look of this place. The exposed brick and wood beams in this whole building really add to the feel. There are pictures of the family all over which give it a very personal touch. As always, I check out wedding fixtures, and I love the ones here - - especially the mason jar lights. The old school r&b that plays in the background is a perfect match. There are some great murals on the outside of the building. We were served by Jasmine, who might actually be the best server in the world. She is super friendly and upbeat - - like a ray of sunshine! I made sure to order dessert first so I wouldn't risk not having room for it. That was a good move because the portions here are HUGE. We had: *The Little Amadi (chicken& waffles) *The Phat Azz Sammich *Banana Puddin' Everything was so good. I have to mention the fries, which are sooooooo good. I normally don't like leftover fries, but I brought home some fries with my Sammich and and they were still so good reheated. Over the years I have enjoyed Lo-Lo's at several locations. I remember dining at the former Scottsdale location in the leased facility with my late wife, visiting the former Gilbert restaurant, stopping by the location at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, and more recently the newer Scottsdale location as well. It has been great to see the brand grow while maintaining the same great food and welcoming atmosphere. One of the things I especially appreciate about the Central Avenue location is how easy it is to reach. The Valley Metro Rail stops conveniently right across the street, so I can hop on the train from my midtown Phoenix high-rise condo and arrive in just minutes. As a native Phoenician, I strongly support local restaurants that consistently serve great food. I am the kind of customer who knows exactly what I like and tends to order the same dish during my weekly visit. That consistency is one of the reasons I keep coming back. The quality of the food never disappoints, and it is always nice to see familiar staff during my regular visits. The atmosphere reminds me a little of the classic sitcom Cheers, where people recognize you and greet you with a smile. It feels like coming back home each time. During my weekly visits, Kat H. is frequently my server. Her friendly smile and attention to detail are a big part of why I return. When I called the person who answered just said "yeah" and when I asked to speak with a manager he put me on hold and left me on hold. This was our first time in Phoenix and we wanted to patronize a Black owned restaurant especially during the economic blackout on 28 February 2025. We (a group of 5) were seated pretty quickly and enjoyed the live DJ and classic Black tv show clips while we waited. The food was GREAT!! I had the platter with 3 piece dark, candied yams, collards with smoked turkey and cornbread . Everyone in my group got a variation of the same.
