This place is a diamond in the rough! I buddy of mine suggested this place and we came out on a Tuesday evening. The place was semi-packed but we still got seated right away. The restaurant is a rustic building with an open wooden ceiling. Pretty cool!! Service was amazing! Our waiter made sure we were well taken care of and constantly checked on us. The food was another story! I wasn't expecting next level fried chicken in Phoenix!!! In other words the food was on point!!!! Overall, great spot! Great service, great drinks and amazing food!!!!

Tried Lo-Lo's Chicken & Waffles and honestly... I don't get the hype. The grits were lumpy, the catfish was greasy and not well seasoned. Overall the food missed the mark. The cornbread was pretty good, and the Cadillac margarita tasted good, but definitely on the weaker side. Shoutout to our server for being friendly and attentive, but unfortunately the food didn't live up to expectations. Pretty disappointing experience overall especially with the hr wait.

I only give it a 4 because they didn't have gizzards anddd the wait time from ordering food to getting the food was 40 minutes. Typically it's not like that... however the food is consistent and was bomb. I got the platter $26 (3 legs, greens, mashed potatoes, cornbread) everything was GREAT!! Friday lunch vibe was chill, music and good service. Would definitely be back and it's a great place to bring those visiting Arizona

Came in on a Tuesday evening seated immediately. Order was taken within good time and bathroom was clean. Our order took a minute to come out and did not come out together. There was a few minutes between each dish but that seems like a lot when you're hungry! I got the blackened catfish dinner; the fish was blackened and seasoned to perfection and the garlic butter topping was tasty as well with a fluffy texture. I tried a bit of chicken which was yummy as well. No complaints and we took a couple bottles of hot sauce to go. Would recommend and return!

If you haven't been to Lo-Lo's Chicken & Waffles yet, you're missing out. The food is undeniably good--crispy, flavorful chicken and waffles done right every time. Service was on point too, friendly and quick. And you can't go wrong with that Kool-Aid . Hands down better than Roscoe's House of Chicken and Waffles or any other chicken and waffles spot I've tried. 5 stars all day.

As a longtime devotee of the brunch game specializing in the pursuit of chicken & waffles, I'm delighted to report this venue checks out with accolades. Known for their Kool-Aid (always on tap!), I saved my sugar for extra syrupy toasty golden waffles (just right) on LoLo's Special and 3 pieces of moist yet crisp Southern fried chicken. The breast was on the dry side, not to be overlooked with some LoLo's award winning hot sauce & syrup - finger lickin' sweet & spicy! Neal was managing the front door and team working multiple tables with a great attitude - a pleasure to behold!

We were greeted and seated quick. Very friendly staff. The whole place looks clean and inviting. The food is delicious as always. The whole group I was with loved everything they ordered. Sometime while we were eating a DJ showed up and started playing music. It felt like a party in there. But surprisingly not overwhelming.

Ambiance: Clean restaurant with plenty of seating and attractive decor. Service: We were served by a nice gentleman who was attentive. Food: 8/10 -- The chicken had excellent flavor. The greens were the highlight for me. The cornbread was unique; it reminded me of Jiffy. Candy Sweets were delightful. The catfish was also tasty, and I usually don't care for catfish.

Very mid. Went on a Monday afternoon & waited an hour for food. The place is nice & plays good music service was good. The food was also okay. Just chicken & waffles. My friend however, got catfish & mac and cheese& it looked good.

Delicious chicken and waffles! I highly recommend the catfish bites! We all enjoyed our food and were seated pretty quick for a group of 5. Our server was awesome! She recommended drinks for us and helped us save money! The restaurant is good for friends and/or family. The bathrooms are decent.

Service is always good here. I bring my out of state family and friends here. Lots of chicken options but also seafood and vegetarian as well. Good vibes and good music. Lots of parking!

Heard really good things about Lo-Lo's Chicken and Waffles so we had to stop by while in town. Would highly recommend making a reservation or calling ahead as there was a pretty decent crowd and we still ended up waiting even after calling ahead. Our server was great, very friendly and flexible with our groups many requests and adjustments to orders. Shrimp deviled eggs were tasty, they came with a hot honey sauce that really tied the flavors together. We all loved the chicken and waffles, and primarily ordered the Double D meal (two breasts and a waffle)but any chicken and waffle combo is likely delicious. Depends on your cut of chicken preferences. Kool-Aid and Lemonade were great, a little sweet but that's expected/appreciated with those drinks. DJ was great and overall the space was pretty large. Assuming they create a party brunch vibe on weekends and maybe even host night time events based on setup and menu options. Will definitely check out Lo-Lo's again next time we're in Phoenix. Probably 2nd best chicken and waffles I've ever had!

Vegan? At Lo-Lo's? No, no, no. There is some form of chicken, cow, or pork in almost everything but the kool-aid. Great eating ;) Just kidding. There are fried green tomatoes, fried green beans and a veggie plate. Not sure if the cornbread is vegan.

We made our reservation online and were seated right away, which made for a great start to our celebration. It took a little while for our waitress to come to our table, but the restaurant was very busy since it was the weekend. Once she arrived, she was friendly, attentive, and provided excellent service throughout our visit. One thing we really enjoyed was the live DJ, who kept the atmosphere fun with excellent music. We were seated toward the back of the restaurant, which worked out perfectly for our large party and gave us plenty of space to enjoy our meal together. For drinks, we ordered two Bloody Marys, two beers, a mimosa flight, waters, and lemonades. The only disappointment was the Bloody Marys. For the price, we expected them to be garnished with olives and the traditional toppings that usually come with a Bloody Mary. Our table ordered a variety of dishes, including the Cinnamon Roll Pancakes, Chicken & Waffles, Flapjack Tenders, the French Toast Sandwich (served with breakfast potatoes and syrup), Oxtails with Dirty Rice, and Catfish & Grits. Overall, the food was delicious. The Cinnamon Roll Pancakes were good, although we expected a little more cinnamon roll flavor and icing, similar to what we've experienced at other restaurants. The biggest disappointment was the oxtails. While they were flavorful and well-prepared, the portion size was smaller than expected, especially considering the $43 price tag. A helpful tip for anyone visiting with a large group: the restaurant will only split the check into two separate bills, so it's a good idea to bring cash or plan your payment arrangements in advance. Overall, we had a wonderful experience celebrating our sister's birthday. The lively atmosphere, great music, delicious food, and attentive service made for an enjoyable brunch. We look forward to returning in the future. We also learned that the owner has another restaurant called Soulful Tacos, which we're excited to try soon.

I've eaten at Mrs. Whites for many years, and every time I want to go back to real southern cooking this is where I come to. Companion and I dropped in for lunch, and there was so much food that we skipped dinner. I ordered the Southern Fried Chicken. 3 pan fried pieces that are juicy and golden brown. For sides I had mixed greens with hot sauce and mac and cheese. The collards were tender and delicious and the mac and cheese didn't even come close fo K..... Dinner. It was loaded with cheese and truly memorable. It also came with a large piece of homemade cornbread with lots of butter on top. Companion ordered the child's plate which is 2 pieces of chicken and and 2 sides. Ordered were cole slaw and mac and cheese. Because we are both diabetics, we both ordered unsweetened tea, but I really wanted a glass of the sweet tea which you get all through the south. We had planned on getting the wonderful peach cobbler for dessert, but we were so full that it would have been impossible to get down. Other items on the menu are smothered pork chops, fried catfish, and chicken fried steak as well as a host of other items. The restaurant recently underwent a complete renovation and it is really nice inside. Lest I forget to mention it, This is a small place that has been here for as long as I can remember. Popped in before a Suns game, an easy walk past Chase Field. It was good to get away from the usual pregame options. The place was clean and inviting, and had a little bit of a "back in time" feel without being dated. Quickly and pleasantly welcomed and seated. Then came the hard part, making choices. We had fried chicken and fried catfish, with sides of Mac and Cheese, macaroni salad (yep, Mac two ways), greens and mashed potatoes with gravy. All were great, obviously home made from longstanding recipes. Especially into the greens, which were bursting with flavor. The catfish was delish, and my wife called the fried chicken the best she ever had. Saved room for peach cobbler, which was served smoking hot. The perfect sweet end to the savory meal. Next time I'm all in on pork chops, which looked amazing. And we will come on a Sunday, the only day dressing is available as a side option. If you're looking for a meal that feels like a friend had you over for supper, go here! Thanks Mrs. White's family!

Tucked back in a small building, just off Southern Avenue, you'll find Southern Fried. It is a small little walk in store front, so plan ahead to order out. We went ahead and ordered online to make things simple and easy. As shown on their building and advertised they show they serve Jamaican food so I was pretty let down when I looked at the menu to discover they do not have any Jamaican food. Seeing pictures of previous Yelp reviews of jerk chicken and oxtail left me bummed. We ended up ordering the fried okra, fried mushrooms, the 2 fish and 5 shrimp combo, along with the fried catfish and fries. We took our food to go and headed home, just around the corner. Once opening the containers i instantly got excited about the mushrooms. Anyone that knows me knows i am mushroom obsessed. With a quick dip in the ranch that came with and popping one into my mouth.... Yummmm! The okra was a bit of a miss. It seems they were still a bit slimy. Moving along to our main courses, I was disappointed to find that our fish was packed on top of our fries and the fries were very limp, soggy and unseasoned. I think packing the takeout differently could easily eliminate this issue. The catfish and shrimp were seasoned to perfection. They both had a perfect blend of spice and a light and crispy batter. I would love to see Jamaican food on the menu, as the advertising is a bit deceptive. Overall I would definitely be willing to try them again and would love to give one of their burgers a taste test.
