Stopped in for a mid day shopping spree and coffee break. What a fun shop. The establishment is a coffee shop with tons of stationary in the back of the quaint place. Totally cool and fun vibe with an arch painted with ivy. So pretty! The store in the back is so much fun for letter writing aficionados. Very cute stationery from Japanese artist. This sister location is much bigger than the other one and has a coffee-shop style setup, which is a big bonus. I visited on a Monday, so it wasn't busy, but most tables were still taken by people working. On weekdays, you may want to order to-go and shop in the back. I visited when they had the Earl Grey Matcha Latte, and it was honestly the best matcha I've ever had. The tea and matcha flavors were strong and blended perfectly--highly recommend if it's still available. The shop in the back is super cute and sells trinkets, stationery, tote bags, candles, snacks/foods, books, and more. I spent about 30 minutes just browsing because there was so much to look at. Staff in both the café and shop were very friendly. They carry items similar to Niconeco Zakkaya, so this is a great alternative if you're far from the other location. read more

Super love the idea of merging a stationary store and cafe in one. My new favorite is their earl grey matcha latte. It has just the perfect amount of sweetness. I've had other drinks as well, but this by far is the best, though on the pricier end. Their baked goods are constantly changing, which I appreciate. It can take some time for your drink to come through but it's worth the wait. The stationary store in the back makes my middle school dreams come true. I love all the pens and notebooks, and other cute mementos. They have an easel in the middle of the room that allows you to sample the pens. It is similar stock to other Japanese stationary stores in the region, so you'll likely find the thing you're looking for (or walk away with something you didn't plan for because you couldn't resist getting your third annual planner of the year..). On a weekday, the noise level is average: not at all a loud, bustling cafe, but not pin-drop silence either. They rotate their specialty drinks seasonally and their baked goods are quite good from the ones I've had! The lavender cookie they had over the summer was a delight. You can see the amount of thought poured into every element of Loaf on Paper; it photographs so easily. The ratio of their coffee drinks is milkier than I'd want. Both times I've gotten a specialty latte, the flavor is drowned out by the amount of milk and none of the syrup, the foam, nor the espresso come through. If they could tweak the recipes to account for a better balance, this place would be on my more frequent go-to places. read more

I've been meaning to go to Loaf on Paper ever since I heard they were opening their new location in Williamsburg, but didn't have the chance to visit until this past weekend and I'll be back very soon! The front of the shop is a coffee shop serving coffee and various pastries and the back is a stationery store. Unlike their location in Manhattan, the stationery story in the back is very spacious and cozy. They sell a variety of notebooks, cards, stickers - really anything you are looking for! They have a nice selection of tote bags in the back - I had to resist grabbing another tote bag to add to any collection! I grabbed a cute crochet snoopy trinket bag and when I was checking out, the cashier said she actually made it herself! I grabbed a pistachio cream matcha on the way out. The coffee shop definitely gets a lot more foot traffic compared to the stationery shop, so I would order first next time and then pursue the stationery part while you wait for your order. There's only 2 baristas handling the orders, so be patient on the weekend! It took longer to order, but my drink came out pretty fast. Unfortunately, I did not like the matcha here - it was too watery for my liking and also did not have any strong flavors. They did have other interesting sounding specialities that I'll probably try next time instead. They discourage laptops on the weekends, so this is a great place to chat with friends or read a good book! read more

As you walk in, you are greeted with the cafe space. It's lovely, whimsical, and super clean. Seating can be a bit limited, but cozy nonetheless, and people can be seen working on their laptops. I visited on a weekday, so it was not as crowded. There are a few specialty drinks to try - I ordered the black sesame cream latte. It was sweet, but not overly so. The caffeine is not very strong, though. Please note that the cafe does close an hour before the shop closes, so try to get there early! The service was nice and quick! As a new matcha drinker, the cashier explained thoroughly what was in the Coconut Matcha Cloud and decided to try it out. I was unsure if I liked it but the taste rapidly grew on me and wanted more! My friend got a vanilla latte and she did not like it. It was pretty busy on a Saturday afternoon (it was peak cafe time tbh), but the staff were friendly, and service was quick. My friend and I got their hojicha lattes, which were so good! Not too sweet, and not too bitter either. We also split the cutest strawberry shiso cake, which was also not too sweet, and the slightly savory shiso complimented the strawberry jam well. Just one thing to note, they only have a one stall bathroom, so plan accordingly. I'm really hoping this cafe is here to stay! Absolutely loved Loaf on Paper. It's a new stationary store in Williamsburg by niconeco zakkaya (located in the east village). I visited the store on a saturday with my friend and it was a bit crowded since it's new and it was the weekend. Despite the crowds, we enjoyed our time here. It was stationary heaven. When you step in, it's the cafe with a couple of tables for seating. We didn't get anything from the cafe since it was crowded, but would definitely want to try it next time. We made our way to the back where all the stationary goodies were. There was a wall of stickers, pens, washi tape, notebooks, stamps, anything that a stationary lover would love. Everything was so cute and aesthetically pleasing, I had to resist from getting the whole store haha. The store is so cute and calming, I could stay there all day. This was a truly wonderful experience! My friend and I spent a couple hours there yesterday getting some work done. The space is bright and the staff is warm and friendly. We both got matcha's but my friend got a warm regular matcha latte and I got the Earl Grey matcha and they make their syrup in house, with an Earl Grey foam on top! It was truly a top tier matcha- easily in my top 3 and cannot wait to go back! Highly recommend - great quiet space with wifi! read more

This is a super picturesque little shop. Part cafe, part stationery store... it's pretty much perfect! Or it would be if I didn't visit when the line for the cafe stretched to the door. (I about had it with crowds at that point, haha). I stopped by with a friend on a Saturday afternoon which is apparently when everyone is there as well. There are tables lining against one wall and all of them were full. There is a back room which is the stationery store and it's clear the place was well thought out. I loved all the Knick knacks - and if you love cats, they do have a lot of cat themed items! I sadly skipped the cafe on this first visit but I did end up purchasing a watercolor workbook I had seen online before. There was one worker in the back and they were really nice and helpful. I had a backpack and bags with it being my last day in the city and it was sometimes a bit tight (no room to make a u-turn; I could only go forwards or backwards if I was down a narrow path and it was blocked), but it didn't get to the point where I felt like it was too crowded and I had to leave. Glad I found the time to stop by, but now I'm just thinking I should only go to Brooklyn on the weekdays. Lol. read more

The interior was SO lovely, cute, cozy, and clean. Light music was playing in the background, and there were so many fun things to browse both in the cafe and store sections. My friend and I came here around 11am on a Monday, and it was packed. However, when we returned around noon, we did find seating in the corner when we came back. I ordered the pistachio cream latte and black sesame pound cake, while my friend ordered the chia pudding. The latte was 10/10. SO creamy, and I could taste the pistachio and matcha! The pound cake was also delicious (not too sweet), and I liked that I could also taste the black sesame flavor. We ended up staying around an hour browsing the store. There were so many things to marvel at and admire. Would 100% come here again (maybe a little earlier next time). read more

Loaf on Paper is the newest expansion store for Manhattan's Niconeco Zakkaya. Not only is it a bigger location, it also houses their OWN cafe in the front ! I had visited twice during my recent annual NY trip and both times the store (cafe and stationery side) were quite busy ! Unfortunately didn't get a chance to check out the cafe but maybe next time ! But lots of customers seem to be working/studying, taking a lot of their seating space. Stationery side offers similar inventory (if not more) than the Manhattan location but in a much more OPEN and BRIGHT area with air flow AND THEIR VERY OWN RESTROOM TOO ! (quite an important thing apparently in this city, had quite a few restroom hunting adventures, even from their other location) LOVE their massive sticker wall upon entry, leading to a bookshelf of washi tapes on the right, with cards/envelopes on the left. Tables in the middle of the store holding various planners and accessories. Shelf on the left of the store houses their writing utensil inventory ranging from pens and pencils to markers and limited inks and stamps. Futher back in the store holds their inventory of traveler's notebook items as well as totes, etc. This store will be, if not already, my 1 of 2 recommedations to people who are looking for stationery (especially if they love cat designed items). read more
