After browsing Yelp for coffee house / tea with breakfast pastries, Manjul Coffee was the nearest business where my professional travels take me. I was greeted by a male associate, but did not appear sincere nor with enthusiasm. There is very minimal pastries. No chocolate chip cookie. I decided on one chocolate croissant $6.25. It is here where I egregiously received a red card: "We're sorry, but cash is not accepted here." I voluntarily ejected to make a Irish Exit. Totally despondent. Manjul Coffee does NOT comply with "Prohibition of Cashless Establishments, as of March 21, 2026, all retail and food establishments in New York State, including New York City, must accept in-person cash payments, banning fully cashless stores." (source: Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA), Local Law 34 of 2020). Oh! This law is enacted, but not enforced as Manjul Coffee requires a severe telling-off or dressing down. Manjul Coffee was recommended to me by a friend. I will say this, this place has some ambience. I was surprised by the sandwich board outside indicating this was both a cafe and a clothing store. When you enter, it feels almost like a high end gallery space. There are unique seats around the perimeter with small tables between them. It was beautiful but a tad awkward if you want to face your friend while taking to them. Still, I really loved the decor complete with a giant fake tree in the middle. The area towards the back is where the clothing shop and bathroom are located. Unfortunately, the decor and layout is pretty much where all my three stars are going. The staff seemed kind of annoyed that I was there. When I ordered they grimaced and when I asked for oat milk to put in my coffee I was given the milk with a bit of a scowl. I was confused by this as I do my best to be friendly to baristas since I know they have a hard job. On top of all this, the coffee I had was...not particularly flavorful. I had a pour over so I thought it would really have robust flavor but it tasted watered down. It was also oddly lukewarm (I like my coffee hot). Beautiful space. I was also looking for coffee on my way to work and stopped by what I thought was a cute and aesthetic coffee shop. Chose a large black coffee which was rather small. And a chocolate croissant with chocolate the size of raisins put inside. The coffee was rancid. I left paying approximately $15 total. I truly like the decor. The staff was just okay. Luckily, I was in a pretty good mood this morning so I left a small tip...but this place as a coffee shop is NOT worth it. But the interior is nice and modern/sleek. This is a very nice coffee shop that has studio vibes. It's all glass, mirrors, stone, and marble with nice chandelier lighting. The door going in was huge and all glass with big greens in vases around the entrance. A warm welcoming vibe. The coffee bar is located in the middle of the place with seats and tables all against the wall around the coffee bar so you can see the baristas making coffee and drinks. Their menu is pretty simple and not too extensive. You got the coffees, teas, and special drinks. I decided to go with the coffee with pineapple foam, which is a fizzy drink since this was my first time here. I got it to dine and it came in a glass like it was an alcoholic drink. It looked so cool with the foam on the top! It looked very silky smooth as I cleaned off the foam. Very fizzy and sweet like pineapple! The coffee had subtle aroma and not that strong. Very good for people who hate strong brew coffee flavor. The foam really made the coffee subtle and light. Good thing about this place is that it is decorated with outlets all around you in case you need to charge your phone or laptop. The stone tables are a tad bit small and too low profile so if you're deciding to work here then it's not really the best thing because the tables are not ergonomically suited for computers. I had to bent my whole body down to look at the computer, which was uncomfortable. Music is kind of loud if you need to relax. Music is lounge music. Towards the middle of the place is a large tree with clothes on a rack. Then there is a wall separating the coffee place from what's going on behind the wooden wall. I ordered an iced americano, which has become my go-to when a coffee spot doesn't have iced coffee. This is one of the more zen, busy coffee shops I've ever been to in my adult life. I can't speak on the clothes because I'm about 15 years too old to shop here, but I do love the soba tea here. It has the perfect amount of nutty flavor that'll make you realize that you've turned into your Korean parents and now you drink stuff like this. I love checking out new coffee shops. Since decoration was nice came in to grab a cortado. Boy did I regret it. The staff is friendly. But the coffee I can taste the potential but I'm not sure if they time their espresso or not. Based on the taste I don't think they time it. It was super acidic, very sour l from the first sip to the end I had to throw it out. If the espresso was pulled correctly the coffee flavor would be even better.
