The last 3 times I've been there, the food was not good. It tasted canned. Lacked flavor. The sides were watery. Will not return.

This restaurant was the worst I've been to in years! I left 2/3 of my combination plate and 90% of myMargueritte! The food was terrible and the salsa was like a mixture of ketchup & pickle juice. We tried it and understood many of the negative comments. Server not very friendly, almost surly, and the place was almost empty so not sure why. A bit pricey, and the enormous portions mentioned elsewhere we not to be seen. About right for us, but no bigger. Got the pork in green chile sauce,, which they don't know how to make. You'll get some pork al pastor (in red sauce) with some green sauce slopped over it. Wife's chimichangas were good. Not worth a stop. read more

Lobos is a nice restaurant nestled in the downtown Grafton Blues community. The service for us, is always good and the food is brought out in a timely manner. Their complementary chips and salsa have gotten better and you can't pass up a tequila shot or a margarita on the rocks! While I wouldn't say this is an 100% authentic Mexican restaurant because it also has a Tex-Mex feel to it on the menu, the food is always delicious. Of course Tex-Mex is inspired by traditional Mexican dishes, which makes the food very desirable to the locals. The more Tex-Mex options they offer are steak fajitas, chimichangas, cheese enchiladas, and Mexican pizza. We've enjoyed both the fajitas and chimichangas, because who doesn't love a sizzling hot dish brought out to them or a deep fried burrito? Both, well made and plenty of flavor to each one. The more traditional Mexican recipes would be their Grilled chicken with Mole Poblano, Puerco en salsa verde, tacos Al pastor, Chile rolleno, tamales and tostadas. The mole isn't to die for, but it's good, however give me good authentic spices, cilantro and a well made corn tortilla, I'm sure to be back. As you can read, they offer an array of different dishes which is why it's a bit hard to decipher if it's 100% authentic or Tex-Mex Restaurant. However, no matter what you prefer, may it me true, authentic Mexican dishes or a Tex Mex dish, it's always a opinion of personal taste and Lobos tries to offer the best of both to community they serve. The restaurant is attractively decorated. But I was very disappointed in the food. The refried beans were thin. The serving size of the rice and beans was no more than 1/3 cup each. Truly had a good time here for lunch. We had the sampler app to start and wow, really good. The guacamole, bean, cheese, pico, and chiroso dips were very good. Could have left the flautes off. My wife and I decided to check out Lobo's one evening when we were craving Mexican food. It's unfortunate there's not many options for Mexican fare in the northern suburbs. We hoped Lobo's would be a new go-to place. We sat at the back bar. I ordered a margarita, large. I did not realize how LARGE the large was. It was very large! My wife helped me finish it. The bartender was nice but we found the food rather plain. Cool building, nice workers, okay food. If management only realized the untapped potential they have--being one of the only Mexican restaurants in the area. I hope they step up their game soon...really soon. read more

Lady upfront has terrible customer service. I guess $27 worth of tacos doesnt get you limes and salsa because my wife went back inside to get some and she was trying to charge us extra. I dont mind paying their overpriced tacos but charging me extra for salsa. Outrageous! read more

Stopped in for lunch for 2 adults and a child. We tried a taco salad, a pair of tacos, and a kids meal of a soft shell taco. Bill came to $43 for tiny portions of very unimpressive meals. None us enjoyed it and the service was also terrible. There were only 3 tables seated in the whole restaurant so there's no excuse. Boy has this place gone down hill. Got charged $10 for salsa and chips which was always free. A ice scoop of guacamole is another $9. I got a "mouthful" of hair in my soda, meaning 2 footlong hairs. We were never told that sitting outside that we'd be getting charged curbside prices. My taco salad and chimichanga was the worst I've ever had in my life. I use to love this place. Talking and catching up as we finished our drinks, we were asked to leave They claimed they were busy...HOW RUDE! It blows my mind that others are rating this place with 4 and 5 stars. Assuming they had improved, based on the reviews, I talked my husband in to going back to try "American" favorites. He begrudgingly agreed and, subsequently, I have actually downgraded my review to one star. The chips and salsa reached a new level of bland. The salsa was more akin to tomato paste with few "extras" thrown in. We asked for hot sauce in the hopes it would add some flavor. It didn't. The waitress seemed annoyed that we not ready to order by the time she delivered our water. My first disappointment was seeing velveeta cheese listed on the 2nd item on the menu. Because of this, I asked what the "cheese" was in the chimichanga. I was told "yellow and white". I disappointedly replied, "not chihuahua"? She replied "no", so I ordered the ceviche. My ceviche came and had a very sweet flavor. Two bites in I asked the sever if there was sugar in it. She said it was the ketchup. Yup! That's it, I thought. That's the flavor. Then I thought ummm, ketchup? Are you kidding me? She asked if I wanted it and I said no. She took it away and I refused her offer to order something else. My husband ordered the carnitas tacos "special". We are not sure what the special is, as they were the item and price as I the menu. While they were edible and visually appealing, they were quite lackluster. The manager (?) came to our able and said there is nothing sweet, nor is there ketchup in the dish. So, I had heard some good things about this place.....maybe I came on a bad day. We had 3 waiters/waitresses total, who never brought us what we asked for. My fajitas were burnt and flavorless. The sides they brought with it were tiny and mixed with curious things and brown guacamole. They seemed put off by our request for corn tortillas and ended up bringing us flour and maybe hoped we wouldn't notice. No one came to give us a bill after they took our food and we had to ask at the counter for it. They do not have an ala cart option, and is very overpriced. My boys had basic tacos that were soggy on the bottom and fell apart within minutes of serving them. When we paid, they were counting tips at the counter. The staff was rude and the food was insanely expensive for what it was, which was not good. $15 for a poorly made burrito- the flour tortilla was wet, it was made with black beans, and the veggies were a bunch of green peppers and onions. Lobo's is owned and run by a family from Mexico who clearly cares about the food and the service. I love the dining at Lobos which is what you'd expect, more or less TexMex, very expertly prepared. Adios, Lobo. What happened to Lobo's? It's Saturday night and our family just got back from an extremely disappointing experience at this Grafton Mexican restaurant. When we walked in, we were greeted by the manager (Lobo?), who brought some chips and one tiny dish of salsa for a family of five. Then, he disappeared for the rest of our stay. We looked around, and the place was empty. No one. 12 minutes later, the waitress showed up to take our drink orders. We also asked for more salsa and chips. 37 minutes later, she brought a pitcher of margaritas (For $26 bucks!), but no more chips and salsa. We reminded her about the chips and salsa, and she says, "Oh yeah..." 14 minutes later, the chips were delivered. At this point, she asked us if we were ready to order. We told her we were frustrated that it was taking so long for service. She explained she, "had another party and just didn't have time for you." We told her we were unhappy, asked for our bill, and started walking out. Three of the people in our group were ex-waitresses and usually give extremely generous tips. Not this time. No tip. We were insulted and angry. As we walked out, Lobo himself appeared from somewhere to ask, "Is everything alright?" We quickly explained our disappoint to him and walked out -- we took our business to a local Chinese restaurant. Adios, Lobo. read more

Our family has been going to Lobos since it opened, about a year ago we noticed the quality going down and the price going up. We were waiting patiently for the patio to open back up - finally got to go back. Chips were very stale - Ordered our normal pitcher of house Margaritas. It was so watery it barely tasted like anything. Ordered a taco salad and paid extra for grilled chicken instead of the shredded, which was about $14.00. Barely any chicken, very little salad- it was basically just the shell. I am not sure we are going back. I usually am in love with this place. The margaritas are awesome and the food is a big bang for your buck. This time however i was dissapointed. We came here for a Grafton Auxiliary poppy meeting and we were rushed out of our table. I understand that it is busy so we were not upset to move to the bar. When we get to the bar it is packed and we cannot get a seat. We need space to continue our meeting. I was saddened that as a frequent customer and local volunteer organization we had to leave to finish our meeting. We would have stayed for more drinks. read more

So if you order fajitas for two, they bring you enough tortillas for one, and when you ask for more, they just add it to your bill without even saying it's extra. Same with cheese. They bring out so little, your almost forced to ask for more just to eat the fajitas plate they brought out, but they charge you $2 more for the cheese and another $2 for the tortillas. So the $29 dinner became $33 just to the basics. read more

Third and last time we'll ever go there. About 30 minutes ago me, my boyfriend, and my mom came to eat at Lobo's. I took a single sip of my boyfriend's soda, and the owner/manager came over and scolded us, refused to give us refills, and asked us to leave. On our way out, he became extremely aggressive and literally SHOVED us out the door physically. He challenged my boyfriend to a fight outside. Police came and everything. Giving the place 1 star is too generous. My wife and I ordered take out. Problem 1. They said 35 minutes before it would be ready. Problem 2. I got there 10 minutes before the 35 minutes were up. The food was packed up already. Get it home. Not even a 2 minute drive. The Lobo's Burrito I ordered was filled with rubbery overcooked steak, no flavor or seasoning and the rice and refried beans were cold. My wife ordered the Pancho's combination. Again absolutely no flavoring, undercooked, the sauces that accompanied the order was the worst guacamole I've ever had and the salsa was disgusting. I've had better flavor in tap water. Problem 3. We paid $27 for this vile trash. We ended up throwing the food away because the dog wouldn't even eat it. We ended up getting to Highland House the same night because you can never go wrong there. My wife and I are very picky about Mexican Food. I was quite surprised when she said she found good Mexican Food in Grafton. So we checked it out before we had a book club meeting. The parking was plentiful between the street and the lot. We have only had problems with seating on Cinco de Mayo. These decor is pleasant and bright. The menu initially concerned me. I doubted these great dishes could all be served well. But, rest assured, these place has great food. Some items have big portions, so you might have leftovers. The staff is friendly, but the place is busy. Since this is the suburbs, I have seen some very rude patrons, but never servers. In fact, I am surprised by reading some of the other reviews. They must have the wrong restaurant. I recommend the guacamole with the initial basket of chips. From there, lunch or dinner, I would recommend the horcata with steak tacos. You can't go wrong. The seating is easier at lunch time. The outdoor patio is heavenly on a sunny day. The fajitas look fun. I try to stop out here once a week. read more

We have been going here since it has opened and we will be ordering to go again this evening. The food is excellent, it has been consistent since they have opened. I do not usually do reviews but I came to the website to find a menu to order and was shocked by some of the reviews that were here and felt the need to leave one myself. The staff are always helpful and kind. We have always had great service when we eat in. And for the prices, I always have way more food than I can eat. The Margaritas are excellent too. We've enjoyed the food here several times in the past, and we've come back many times. However, we've noticed a pattern, and it seems to be confirmed in some of the other reviews of Lobo's I've read here. There's an older guy that must be the owner or manager or something, and whenever he's there, we tend to have a bad experience. Last night, same deal. My wife and our younger son have celiac disease--a severe allergic reaction to gluten. Previously, we've been told that if we call ahead, we can get gluten-free chips and salsa with the chips prepared in a separate small home-kitchen-style fryer they keep just for this use, that may need time to heat up. And we've had success with this before. Great! Except last night, no answer to our calls. Dumped to voicemail, and the voicemail was full. Tried several times in the half-hour leading up to our visit. My wife and one son arrived at the restaurant before me and our other son. My wife asks about the possibility of gluten-free chips, explains the non-working phone, etc. Waitress we've never had before walks across to the front desk where this older man is sitting, and he gruffly just says "no clean fryers". Waitress doesn't say anything else about it to us, just "can't do it". No other accommodation, no concern, nothing. The place wasn't busy, and we weren't in any hurry. We would have waited. They just weren't interested in doing anything. So my wife and one son don't get chips or salsa. Nor can they even entertain the option of anything else fried because the restaurant apparently can't be bothered to initiate the starting or cleaning of their small fryer tonight. Since we're sitting within eyesight of this guy, I notice his interactions with everyone. He's mostly poking around on his cellphone, doing nothing. He yells at staff here and there. Seems like he's in a bad mood. A woman walks in and she's telling him she's been trying to call in an to-go order for over an hour and couldn't get through. She then notices HE HAS THE PHONE OFF THE HOOK. She points this out to him, and he tosses the phone back on the hook in the most uncaring way possible. Another server helps this woman and she's now stuck waiting at the bar for most of the rest of our meal, not terribly happy. Old guy goes back to his leaning and phone-gazing. Now, I don't know what's going on with this guy. But really, if you're an employee, you're terrible. If you're a manager, you're more than terrible. And if you're the owner, well, you deserve what you get when your business closes. None of these versions of this guy should be working there. Awful. The place has always felt a little expensive for what you get. The food, always a little plain. And the service, almost always a little slow. Most of the time the waitstaff is super-friendly, though this time this waitress was only perky when we were done and she knew it was time to shine for her tip. Otherwise she was completely invisible--and rude when she wasn't. The food last night was fairly mediocre as usual, no surprises here. There is no good Mexican food in Ozaukee county, it seems. And over $80 for our final bill. We've been really excited in the past to be able to go here and not have to worry about the fryer situation. It's one of the main reasons we've gone as often as we have. Celiac disease makes things pretty tough, so when you find a workable option, you gloss over a lot of not-positive factors and kinda take what you can get. But this one guy there, this ONE guy, ruins the place and the experience to the point where it's not worth it. I don't want to give money to a place that thinks any of that guy's behavior or treatment of customers is OK. And my celiac-carrying wife and son both like to have some chips and salsa sometimes. Lobo's has been one of our typical date nights for years. We always order our same dishes and are always usually happy with our experience. This time, our bill was quite a bit higher than it normally is. With supply chain shortages, and inflation, we thought maybe prices had increased. However, upon further review of our itemized bill we noticed three separate charges for sour cream and guacamole that have always been included with our dishes. When we inquired about the charges, we learned that was their way of making up for rising costs. Upon reviewing the menu, one plate said it was included, and the woman begrudgingly removed that charge. When asked why these additional charges weren't made transparent when we asked for our missing sides, we were met with rude, argumentative comments and responses. It left a sour taste in my mouth. All we wanted was transparency. Coming up with sneaky charges here and there to make up for your rising costs is plain and simply shady business practices. 2:00 lunch. I'm happy I tried this place because it is as good as I hoped...maybe a little better? It's 5 o'clock somewhere so I ordered a regular margarita on the rocks and my go-to fav Mexican restaurant entreè the chicken enchiladas verdes. My drink arrived within a few short minutes and my food followed less than 10 mins later. Super fast! I had only a few minutes to mow down a small handful of tortilla chips and salsa, which by the way was way better than any typical salsa I've had at other Mexican restaurants. They don't shy away from spice which was refreshing. Even the regular margarita on the rocks was better than many places I've been. Sitting outside on a warm summer day was delightful! And when I arrived I wasn't sure if I'd sit outside or inside, but when I walked in and smelled musty smell of perhaps the dirty carpet I knew right away I preferred to sit outside. The interior seemed a little dark, however warm and welcoming. I finished my whole plate... I never do that at Mexican food restaurants, but I was hungry and this was better than my go-to Mexican restaurants in Milwaukee. I had dessert too...cuz why not? The flan was good, although slightly overlooked (honestly I don't think most would notice and I'd still order it again). Service was friendly and prompt. I'll be back again another day. read more

Let me begin by saying that I have not done restaurant reviews before, but I felt last night's dining experience warranted a review. My husband and I dine out at least once a week; more if we are going to movies or theater. Some of our past restaurant experiences, prompted me to leave this review. Last night was a movie night -- we wanted to try a new restaurant (one that was new to us). We were tired of our usual 'OK' Mexican restaurant. After reading reviews and looking at photos of Lobo's in Grafton we decided to give it a try. We arrived around 7:00 pm, found a parking spot next to the restaurant and headed to the entrance. The outside patio was busy and patrons were sitting at tables on the porch. The minute we walked thru the door, we received a friendly greeting and a smile from the hostess. We were seated immediately and given menus. Chips and salsa arrived quickly -- very fresh. We ordered our drinks; a beer for my husband and the best blended strawberry margarita I have had since Dos Banditos closed years ago. Then we ordered our entrees. My husband selected the three small burritos (2 ground beef and 2 chicken). I ordered the steak tacos with extra sour cream - I was given a choice and selected 3 soft flour tacos. Both of our meals were served with beams and rice. My meal also came with lettuce which I enjoy with tacos. Within a short period of time our food arrived. My husband likes his food 'hot' as in temperature. Both of our selections were served very hot and fresh - no sitting around in the kitchen for these entrees. Honestly, I will say this is the best Mexican food we have had in a long time (that includes the restaurants we frequent in AZ). Our server checked with us numerous times over the course of our meal, and our plates were cleared quickly. Our very reasonable bill arrived upon our declining additional food or beverage.....with an appreciative verbal 'Thank You' from our server. We had a very enjoyable dining experience. The food and drinks were great, the atmosphere was bright, clean and cheery; and all the staff we encountered were friendly and hardworking. On our way out, the hostess thanked us.... Really, Really good! The food was amazing. It was lunch so a bit early for margaritas but they have a huge bar. The queso wasn't as good as Highland House. Ordered the Carnitas Tacos. Perfect, authentic. Nice patio, place was friendly. A bit worried based on "velvetta" verbiage throughout menu on ordering cheese enchiladas in the future. A few Mexican places use velvetta in dishes. Hoping this isn't one of them. We will be back. Maybe our new weekend hangout. read more
