Everything I've had here I really liked. Chips and salsa are good. I've had various tacos, enchiladas and burrittos and usually a margarita.

I was spending some time in Slinger Wi and I had 3 restaurants picked as my lunch possibilities and this was 3rd on the list. At the last minute I thought about the 4 stars compared to the top 2 and I ended up here. The decor is bright colors and sinister murals on all the walls which might scare small children. Service was excellent and everything was on my table in a timely manner. My strawberry margarita didn't have a big strawberry flavor but it was a nice pour and not watered down. I was brought chips and salsa as I ordered a blended strawberry margarita. The chips were spot on because they were warm/thin fresh and seasoned nicely. I'm torn on the salsas because you get one hot and one mild. The hot was fresh made chunky with nice heat while the mild was a purée style with good flavor and I think for the first time there was no winner because they were equally very good in their own ways. I ordered the #2 Mexican combination which is 1 chicken enchilada topped in red sauce that looked more brown, 1 taco Al pastor topped with onions, cilantro and a pineapple strip and one steak sope that comes with rice and choice of beans and sour cream. The plate looked delicious. Nothing was super seasoned but it was flavorful. The first thing I noticed was my food was hot but burn your mouth hot. The second thing I noticed while tasting the meats on their own was they were all moist/fresh. The whole plate was delicious. My overall my thoughts is that they are doing everything pretty well with flavors and food temperature and they got their game together, nice job. read more

The staff was nice. We ordered a to-go meal that was prompt. That being said, this place is not authentic. If you are looking for an authentic experience and ARE Mexican, I would encourage you to look elsewhere. The food has the presentation of someone who looks like they have seen authentic Mexican food before. Presentation is correct. FLAVOR is wrong. Or rather lacking. That was very disappointing because the food had potential. Salsas were extremely mild ( they give you a variety of options)- one even tasted like marinara sauce. You don't need a ticket to fly to Mexico just come to Polanco. The moment that you step in, you are transported to beautiful Mexico. So that is for the well done inside and out ambiance of the restaurant. We were a big group, of 12. We order everything on the menu and all es delicious. Kudos to the chef. After hearing through the grapevine that this Mexican place is great I decided to take the drive out to Slinger and boy am I glad I did. The restaurant is in a strip mall, but has a decent amount of space with a very nicely done outdoor patio. The decor is authentic Mexican with beautiful murals throughout the restaurant. We were immediately seated (went for lunch on a Sunday) and very promptly served water as well as chips and salsa. Throughout our dining experience the waiter was fantastic, upbeat, and extremely attentive! He was having so much fun with the table, we were actually laughing! The food was wonderful! The chips were warm and the hot salsa was very good. The mild was a little on the tomato side but some may prefer that. The chicken fajitas were good and the serving size was impressive. The Burrito Mexicano was stuffed to the brim and as big as the plate! My son said it was very good. I had the Quesabirria and it was fantastic! So very, very flavorful with the perfect amount of cheese. I have been dreaming of them ever since. I highly recommend stopping in and giving this restaurant a try. Had to put a 1 star to be able to leave review. Waited over 2 hours for a pick up order that we never did receive. Watched others get their orders before us even though they came in after. 4 tables left as never got food. The whole time the "hostess", lied and kept saying 20 minutes. NEVER AGAIN!! read more

The waitresses were awesome they offered me free ice cream for my birthday but there was short hairs in my food from the cook and it felt gross going down my throat. I would never go there again. What a pleasant find in Slinger. Full bar, extensive menu and friendly service. Is sat at the bar where they have a solid collection of tequila in hand and Mexican beers on tap. Drinking a micro, they offered up free chips and salsa. Chips were ok but their salsa was addicting. I finally had to push it away to order my entree-queso birria. Served with rice and beans, it was certainly a lot of food. The beef within the taco was tender and flavorful. Dipped, stuffed with cheese, and then seared, the tacos were a solid dish. I will say that the accompanying consommé to dip the tacos in was a little oily and didn't have the rich beefy taste of others that I have tried. Nevertheless, I feel Polanco did justice to the dish. I wouldn't hesitate to come back if I was ever in town. Solid food, extensive cocktail menu and friendly staff. What more can a guy ask for? read more

Wow! We've lived in Milwaukee for over 15 years and this was the best Mexican restaurant we've been to. Luis was our server and he was awesome- very welcoming and connected with us but got that we were eating quickly. The food was SO good and not heavy and greasy. All of the staff seemed happy to be there which says a lot about the management/ownership - great environment. Great bar menu and lots of options. Amazing place! The first thing you'll notice on entering is that the entire restaurant is beautifully covered in murals done by regional artist Ricardo Flores. We were told they closed the restaurant for a month so he could complete them all. Don't miss the smoking man mural behind the wall. Staff are friendly, chips are hot and refilled often, two sauces with the hot one actually having a nice degree of heat. Nice selection of beers and cocktails; margarita specials. Food was very good and flavorful; our party tried two styles of fajitas, both of which were served sparkling hot; the El Chapo plate which was a fajita variant with grilled jalapenos and cactus; and chile rellenos that were perfectly textured. Waiter brought wrong order and started to argue with me when I told him about it. ( He did not write up what I ordered ) Never checked back afterwards and I ended up having to drink the remain of my wife water when she was done. Looking at my credit card statement someone there also inflated my tip for that visit as well. This is one of the best Latin restaurants I have been to. I lived in Central America and have spent time in Mexico. It's a true gem. Fantastic service and ambiance and the food to match. The food is very good, however, beware if you ask for any extras' to your food. They charge for every little extra condiment and don't tell you at all. We have the quesabirrias all the time and we asked for a little more cilantro on it and to fill the sauce jar well. They did not put any more cilantro on it and charge .75 each for 2 sides of little cilantro really!! then to fill the birra sauce 2 oz cost $1.75. And heaven for bid you ask for a couple extra limes, cause that too cost $1.50 for 3 small slices. Green sauce was added for which we didn't ask for at $2.00 and a side of 2 oz cheese sauce was $2.00. Next time we will bring our pre-cut limes and cilantro in a baggie in order to eat the $22.00 priced meat tacos the way we like them. It was very frustrating, Our bill was $137.54 so we paid enough to not have to be charged for $10.00 extras that might have cost them .50cents. We will try the new Mexican place down in Hartford instead of coming back here for long while. read more

My wife and I have been going to Polonco's for the past 6 years. Food was always good. But now with the new ownership back on August 2021 the restaurant has taken on a whole new look. New paintings and artwork, the patio is beautiful and the food is still amazing. If you like authentic Mexican food you will love Polonco's. On top of all this the staff is always polite, and if you ask the owner to stop out he is super friendly as well. Nice job Polonco's! read more

Crap service, food not much better. I was giving the place 1 more chance after several mediocre experiences. Never again, the service from this alum waiter has gotten intolerable. Mixed orders with another table, wrong order, rushing to take your order before he even brought chips out! He was unfazed by all the mistakes he made, didn't seem to care at all. Food is good but expensive for what it is. Service is not all that good, I order from here often and pick it up after work. I don't think I've had one that was correct, always missing something or the order was wrong. Kid raved about his child's menu quesadilla. They also have kids chicken fingers, Mac and cheese, grilled cheese, burgers and tacos. Good portion size but for $5 you'd be better off buying a $12 dinner and having the kid eat part of it and take the rest home. Great leftovers. No complaints. Music was festive and not too loud. I've given them so many chances. Whenever we eat there the food is good but the service is very slow. I've gotten delivery a few times and they always miss something in the order. Last time it was an entire meal, and when I called they said they couldn't deliver the meal but that I would have to come pick it up. Seriously?! I decided to give them one last chance tonight. We ordered 6 meals plus some sides for delivery. Two of our meals had the tortilla soup. They only delivered one soup. Clearly the ticket says two soups. They don't do a quality control check when they package the food. I will NEVER order from them again because I've been duped too many times. My meal was $20 for 3 birria tacos. The consommé was good but it was only filled up halfway. And the side of tortilla soup was missing. Never again. read more
