We love this place! My son loves Mac and cheese, so we stopped by for dinner and dessert. We loved our food! My son got the regular Mac and cheese and I got the Special : Ballpark Mac which is Beer brats, stadium sauce, topped with crispy onions! Which is delicious! Then for my dessert my son got a scoop of the chocolate custard with sprinkles and I got a scoop of vanilla custard with a shot of espresso and peanut butter cups and marshmallow cream! Out & Out Catering / Eatery & Custard is a great experience. I was visiting relatives and had the opportunity to experience this incredible food establishment. We needed to bring food for a 5-year-olds birthday party, and he requested the mac and cheese from Out & Out. Never argue with a 5-year-old...you will lose. We placed our order online to expedite the process and were given a pickup time. We arrived a little after the lunch rush to pick up our phone order. I don't know when I have seen such an extensive menu of options. If you can't find it here I don't think you can find it anywhere. The staff was very helpful making sure that we had everything that we needed to make a birthday boy happy. We ordered a platter of wraps and mac and cheese. Love the options for protein with the wraps. The food was once again fresh and tasty. Everyone from a 2-year-old to an 80-year-old was happy. Not always an easy task. I've been a regular of Out & Out for years, even since a friend brought it to my attention. Not being a Cedarburg resident it's an extra 20 minutes out of the way if I'm stopping after work or a 40 minute round trip if I'm just heading from home, but I'm happy to make the trip. Their menu consists largely of Mac & Cheese, wraps, paninis and frozen custard. Being a Wisconsinite it really resonates with me. I get the classic "original" mac and cheese every time. It's always consistently good and it's still warm after my 20 minute drive home. They use a less common noodle that is quite large and the portion is generous too. The other menu item I'm always to is the shake of the week. They always have a different one and they're always good. Oh, and I have to mention their salads. Not for me, but my mother likes them as much a salad she gets anywhere else. Another thing I appreciate is the fact they have an app. An app for a local place isn't common in my experience. This makes it easy to order in advance so you can skip the line, skip the phone call and better still earn rewards. Finally, I have to commend a few of the guys who work here. Two gentlemen in particular who both are always pleasant and personable, which alone is commendable, but they've also both been there a few years. You can't go wrong with their specialty mac and cheese, different than anywhere else and particularly nostalgic if you grew up around here. Gave it my third shot tonight. Last two times they didn't have my phone order in process when I came to pick it up - had to place it again - ended up waiting 30 minutes for my order. Tonight I walked in at 8:20 pm not realizing they closed at 8 - my navigation app said they closed at 9. Stood at the counter with three staff members giggling and ignoring me after seeing me standing there waiting to order. No one said a word so I asked the young guy mopping the floor if they were open - he said no. I mean all the staff had to do was tell me they were closed. Why would I give the place a dime? Leaving Strawberry Fest today I promised ice cream to my son that came with me because it was hot out and he was a trooper with all the walking around we did. We started driving towards the McDonald's in Cedarburg, but along the way I remembered previously seeing a different restaurant nearby that serves ice cream or custard. We pulled into Out & Out and hit the jackpot compared to going to McDonald's. It was so good, in fact, that we came back later in the day so my wife and other son could try it too. On our first visit my older son got a custard mixer with brownies, Oreos, and hot fudge and I got a half original mac and cheese and a strawberry lemonade float, which was their special flavor for this week. When we came back, my younger son got a chocolate custard mixer with cookie dough and brownies while my wife got the Spicy Chicken Kick mac and cheese without the red peppers. Both kids loved their custard, which was to be expected. It looks like they're pretty generous with the toppings and have a good variety to choose from on the menu. Way better than the soft serve ice cream from McDonald's. The mac and cheese was great. We both thought the cheese sauce reminded us a little of Kraft mac and cheese, but slightly more elevated in both the flavor of the sauce and the quality of the noodles. There was plenty of chicken in her mac, but it was little light on the andouille sausage. The strawberry lemonade float was otherworldly good. I've had other floats before like root beer and dreamcicle, but strawberry lemonade was a new one for me and frankly has set a new bar in my mind for ice cream/custard based drinks. I can't rave about it enough and I'm sad that it's only a one week special, but considering how good it was, I'm very much looking forward to trying other special flavors they have and having the strawberry lemonade again, assuming it's back during next year's Strawberry Fest. read more

On my list to try for quite awhile and wish it hadn't taken so long to get here! Came with my 7yr old for lunch on a Wednesday and it was busy, and now I know why. She had the original mac and cheese and loved it, and she's a picky Mac n cheese eater. I tried a few bites as well and it was great, way better than Noodles and Co. and cheaper than Noodles as well. I had the Chipotle Chicken sandwich and it was excellent. We had some custard for dessert and it was also terrific, only $3.75 for a scoop and you get 3 toppings! Service was extra friendly, seems like a family and treat you like family, the kind of place I like to spend my money at, but don't need to spend a lot because for the quality and quantity of food, it was very reasonable. I love Mac n cheese! To be completely transparent, I'm a Kraft kind of gal, and don't always like when the dish is jazzed up too much. So I went in not sure what to expect. Well, I thought this was amazing! I loved every bite of the original, just as it was. My husband had the spicy chicken (minus the bell peppers) and he was raving about his too. If you're going to have the kitchen in plain view of the customers you should at least make sure it's clean. The floors under the counters look like they haven't been swept or mopped for months. My favorites are the buffalo chicken, bacon carbonara, and surprisingly, just the ordinal Mac and cheese. They also have many other options such as soups, cold wraps, sandwiches, ice cream, and custards. A lot of seating is available and it can get busy during the weekend and during the summer. It's located in a nice, popular part of Cedarburg and close enough to Mequon and Grafton. The Mac and cheese is delicious, rich, and very full of flavor and cheesy goodness. If you're looking for a great place to get a good meal, this should be your choice! I love going here because I can order a head, drive up, jump out, run in, grab my bag, get in the car, and drive away, No fuss and usually no mess. The best part is I usually get something fairly healthy and (unless I choose to get a milkshake), I don't end up feeling guilty about eating out. On the rare occasion that I get a milkshake, I choose the banana milkshake, and try to convince myself that it was fruit! Don't judge me! The food here is good. The workers work extremely hard so don't forget to tip. The only problem I've ever had is once in a while. While the app is wonky. If something weird happens, however, the management is usually very helpful. That makes up for everything and I end up satisfied. We are very disappointed in Out and Out for the second time. The Mac and Cheese was dry and the container is now less than 1/3 the original size. It is so small now that it looks like a small plate instead of a bowl at barely 1" tall. My chicken, bacon ranch wrap had no bacon. It is so sad to see the downfall of one of Cedarburg's most popular restaurants. Now that it is employee-owned, the staff/owners have decided to get greedy and cut the quality, flavor and container size to put more money in their pockets. What a shame. read more

My favorite item is the Americano without chicken. It has so much flavor and I love the ciabatta rolls they use for the bread! The Mac and cheese is also a classic. Beware if you have food allergies. I'm gluten sensitive but have other serious food allergies (anaphylaxis). I've eaten here before without issue so I decided to try again. I ordered a gluten sensitive Mac and cheese with broccoli and chicken. Not long after eating I began to have swelling and thought uhoh perhaps soy was slipped in somewhere. After a long wait I managed to get someone on the phone who immediately told me soy isn't involved and I have to be honest the response seemed irritated and wanting me off the phone asap; if soy was present (like in lecithin, the noodles, or flavoring) this person wouldn't know and wouldn't bother to check. I explained I was having a reaction and trying to nail down what was happening (in case I need to go to the ER). It would be nice if they'd offer to read out the ingredients (or even better list them on the site). Clearly the allergen is present (unlikely peanuts or tree nuts are involved which I also asked about). The food itself however: great chicken and broccoli, sauce was absorbed I think within the noodles and the noodles were a lump that outside of allergic reaction, is sitting poorly in my stomach. Very much not worth the $15+ I spent. If you're allergy cautious I would not risk it here. read more

Out & out proved to be not only great food but also a perfect little spot to satisfy the need for a quick bite. We had the Italian sandwich and it came out toasty and flavorful. This was a great sandwich and I was really taken back at how good it was. So far on track. We also ordered the twisted Wisconsin mac n cheese spicy chicken kick style. It had andouille sausage, red bell peppers and a Cajun cheese sauce. It wasn't quite the kick I would have hoped for but the flavors were good. Being a "fast food" pasta it really wasn't bad at all. This isn't some fancy dancy restaurant I'm expecting 5 star dining at. I came here for a quick lunch and Out & Out satisfied that need on all levels. I would come back again in a heartbeat if ever in the area. Prices are extremely reasonable with half order of macaroni and cheese for $3-$4, and full orders $6-$7. They have like 5 different types of their twisted macaroni and cheese. We went with their three cheese and chicken, delicious choices. Their wraps and sandwiches also sounded fantastic. Would love to go back and get the turkey cranberry wrap.
