California lobster roll and lobster bisque
    Adam A.

IMPRESSIVE! I am always in Maine and have never found any lobster roll on the west coast that even comes close. This place had a California lobster roll made with Sriracha. Delicious! The lobster bisque was equally impressive. I highly recommend

Its located inside a small plaza located in Pasadena. This plaza has a very small parking lot. When we first walked in, an aromatic smell greeted us before the staff. Everything smelled so delicious! The staff greeted us and guided us how to order. The interior is cute and small. Very vibrant, casual, and they were playing music over the speakers. The menu can get $$$. If you order anything with lobster, it's best to consume it the day of and not have it as leftovers for the next day. Also, the amount of lobster that you get with your order is justified in its price. We ordered to go and got a few different entrees. Old bay cheese fries: when you order to go, they separate the cheese from the fries. My husband didn't realize the cheese was missing from the fries until he saw the container. I think that was great thinking on the restaurants side. The fries had a little spice kick to it, but the cheese sauce smelled and tasted amazing. Best item in our order. Lobster tacos: If you're a fan of American style like Baja fresh, the tacos are healthier, then these are for you. These tacos are not like Mexican styles, so be warned. Lobster grilled cheese: this sandwich was HEFTY! It is a lactose intolerant person's nightmare because of how much cheese was in it! The bisque was very aromatic and was delicious to eat the day of. I didn't finish this so I saved it for leftovers. I couldn't eat it; lobster became too chewy. My husband finished it. Lobster spaghetti: traditional spaghetti with lobster meat. Nothing special except the presentation was spectacular. The lobster tail was used as a garnish and the meat was not attached to the tail. Church filled with caramel: must be consumed as soon as possible for it gets hard after a while. It wasn't too sweet considering the church was filled with caramel. Overall, this isn't a place we will frequent often because of the cost, but we do plan on returning.

My group came here for lunch because we were looking for a sandwich place in the Pasadena area. My sister found this restaurant on Yelp and we all wanted to try it since loved the lobster rolls we had while visiting Washington DC last spring. The lobster roll that I ordered was alright, but I am do comparing to a rather high bar that was set when we went to a seafood shop in Maryland that also specialized in lobster rolls. The other item on my plate was the clam chowder. I really wanted to like it, but I mainly wished it was a tad thicker. The flavor was totally fine, though. The best portion of my combo plate was actually the fries! They were seasoned very generously and were super crispy. Overall, this was a decent lobster roll spot for this area since there aren't many around this area (that we know of).

Stumbled upon a hidden lobster roll shack in Pasadena called Ry's Poke Shack, and wow -- what a find. The place was spotlessly clean, the staff were genuinely friendly, and right at the entrance you're greeted with Top Yelp awards, which immediately sets the expectation high (and they deliver). We ordered both the Classic lobster roll and the Connecticut-style. The bread was warm, crispy, and perfectly toasted, the lobster was fresh and generously portioned, and nothing felt overdone or skimpy -- just balanced and done right. The sides paired perfectly with the rolls and rounded out the meal nicely. The tatertots and fries were crispy and satisfying and well seasoned! Highly recommended!!

Cali Truffle Roll - with 3oz of extra lobster meat. Yummy!

First time I've ordered from here and it was delicious! Ordered the Cali Truffle Lobster roll with extra lobster meat for delivery, and it absolutely hit the spot! The flavors were fun and exciting, with generous, meaty chunks of lobster that made every bite satisfying. The roll itself had great bread - soft and complementary without overpowering the star ingredient. What I loved most was being able to enjoy this messy, hands-on meal in the comfort of my own home. There's something special about being able to dive in without worrying about making a mess at a restaurant. The extra lobster meat was definitely worth it - plenty to enjoy throughout the entire roll. Overall, a delicious delivery experience that brought restaurant-quality flavors right to my door. Would definitely order again!

I came in today with my boyfriend to grab some plain buttered lobster rolls, fries, and clam chowder -- everything was amazing, truly 10/10. The lobster rolls were packed with generous portions of lobster and even came with a side salad, which was also delicious. The clam chowder was very creamy and flavorful. Prices were great and very reasonable for the quality and portions. The food tasted fresh, the staff was kind and welcoming, and the whole experience was great. I would definitely come back!

    Lobster Maine with fries

The place is quite cozy. Nice ambiance and decor. The service of host was on point. Very helpful. The food was ok. Good flavor for clam chowder. I wished there would have been some seafood meat in it, though. The lobster Maine roll was just ok. I wasn't a big fan. The fries were just fries. A bit overcooked and no flavor. The Connecticut roll was just ok as well. There was plenty of parking. One out front and a huge public parking lot in the back.

    Jessica Y.

The restaurant is located in a small Plaza. Has a parking lot. Easy to get parking. They have indoor seating. We tried a crab roll, lobster pasta (seasonal item) and came with side of bread. Everything was delicious! Staff was very nice. Similar to what other Yelpers say a bit pricey but food is great!

Connecticut Style Lobster Roll (8/10) Lobster bisque (6/10)
    Christy C.

Ordered Uber Eats and it was delicious but pretty pricey! Got the Connecticut Style Lobster Roll ($23.95) It was pretty small but was packed with big chunks of Mane lobster and garnished with green onions and mayo! This was 8/10 The lobster bisque ($9.90) was just ok, nothing special. Just tiny bits of lobster and not much lobster taste. It was pretty mediocre and pretty salty so I wouldn't recommend it. This was a 6/10 They have a good variety of lobster, shrimp, and crab rolls but expect to pay $20+! Can't decide between crab or lobster? No problem! They have the "Clobster Roll" ($22.74) and you get the combo of both worlds! Unlikely to return but it's an ok spot for first timers!

Located in a small lot but very friendly staff and they have a few tables inside. We planned on taking to-go at 7:45pm but they invited us to enjoy our meal dine-in, much appreciated! We ordered a signature roll combo with the maine roll, a side of fries, and clam chowder. They even let us try both the clam chowder and lobster bisque, and ended up serving us a half portion of each because they tasted so good. Their mac & cheese was decent and their lemon pepper wings were nice and crispy. I recommend getting one of their house lemonades as well. Overall a bit pricey but service and food was great!

    Maine style lobster roll combo
    Melanie L.

Located in a small plaza and very pricey, but so good. I got the Maine style lobster roll combo for $29. I think it comes with more fries than the regular order! I was told the Connecticut style was more popular, but that the Maine was more flavorful. (Thanks for the suggestion from the cashier). I got the clam chowder with it and it was also good. Not the best I've ever had, but still good and generous with its portions of clam and potato. My MIL ordered the lobster pasta and I took a bite. I have to say it's probably one of the best ones I've tasted. Rich with lobster and very flavorful. The other ones I've tasted have been more light and a bit bland in taste. Service was actually amazing here. The cashier made good suggestions, was on top of bringing us water and overall very friendly. Not many tables to sit at, but cool little spot.

French Fries Clam Chowder Cup Connecticut Style Lobster Roll
    Rachel B.

Unfortunately the lobster roll I ordered was the least special part of this meal, as it tasted slightly overcooked and dry. The fries were delicious, and the clam chowder was super tasty and filling. I think I'll have to come back again to see if the lobster roll itself was a one time fluke, and next time order a bigger bowl of clam chowder!

    Maine Style Lobster Roll
    Faith D.

Three of us stopped in for a weekend lunch around 2. Not a long wait at all. There's just a hand few of tables inside to eat at. You can order at the counter with a person or on their IPAD system, which was easy to use. Big chunks of lobster in our sandwiches (Maine & Connecticut) both full flavored deliciousness! Honestly I could have eaten two. We shared calamari and the breading was too thick for my liking. Next time I have a lobster roll craving I know exactly where to come.

One of his customers accidentally drove into the wall in the parking lot. Instead of getting upset or angry, Leroy's first reaction was to make sure she was okay. I helped translate for them, and he kept reassuring her, saying, "As long as you're okay, everything else is okay." He told her not to worry about the damage because he was just happy she wasn't hurt. Seeing how shaken and upset she was, he even gave her a quick side hug to comfort her. In a situation where many people would have focused on the accident, Leroy chose kindness and empathy. That says so much about his character. It's rare to meet someone who genuinely puts people before property, and I think that's something worth recognizing and supporting.

The restaurant has a nice, natural light filled space, and though it was busy, it wasn't too loud. It worked out well to go with two people so we could try almost all the options... - Scallop aguachile, avocado, salsa macha verde: Came with two shells, each with a little scallop, avocado, zucchini, radish, cilantro. Nice and refreshing to start. - Strawberry and vanilla French toast fingers, pistachio marzipan: A very generous portion of French toast with strawberry jam and pistachio sauce. Nice and crunchy crust. It was an interesting contrast to the aguachile first course! - Crab cake eggs benny: Two poached eggs on crab cakes. This was good, nothing unexpected, though I was getting pretty full at this point. - Summer berries, Scottish shortbread, white chocolate mousseline: This was the only dish we were disappointed by. The shortbread was pretty bland and the texture was lacking crispness. - Profiteroles, vanilla ice cream, strawberry ice cream, hot fudge sauce: Simple dessert but put together well. So good. We asked to start with the oysters and focaccia, then the mussels and for our main course the fish and brussel sprouts. Mind you there are 3 other tables in the entire place at 8:30 on a Saturday.. The first thing to come out of the kitchen was the main course side, the brussel sprouts. We reminded the waiter this was for the main course. He just stood there genz staring. I asked nicely if it would be OK to keep those on the warmer until the main course is served, he silently took them away. Then not 3 minutes later all of the food was delivered except the oysters, our appetizer. It kinda ruined the experience for us forcing us to eat every at once, quickly before it was cold. Killed conversation, Killed the vibe. And if was coursed properly we probably would have ordered another bottle of wine. So it Killed the bill and the tip too. It wasn't busy at all on a Saturday night, so it's not like the kitchen was slammed and accidentally pushed everything quickly. The oysters came out last, and we never got the focaccia, nuff said. We didn't bother complaining. We didn't want to be difficult and we aren't looking for a freebee. But at that price point they should know how to course a meal. Sad, but I don't think this restaurant will be here in 6 months. So go now if you have been wanting to try it.

I came here with a friend, just the two of us, and the portions were HUGE. We ordered a lobster that was around 3-4 pounds, and the lobster is priced per pound. I believe we had the Boston Lobster House Special, and we added the noodles for about $10 extra. Let me tell you and it did NOT disappoint. The lobster was incredibly fresh, perfectly seasoned, and absolutely mouthwatering. The noodles soaked up all that flavor from the lobster and seasoning, and everything together was just delicious. I kept wanting to eat even though I was already getting full! It is a little pricey, especially depending on the size of the lobster you choose, but they give you A LOT of food. There were only two of us, and we each had enough food left over to take home and have another full meal. Honestly, the amount we ordered could have easily fed four people. We also had the shrimp fried rice, which was delicious, and even the lemon iced tea was really good. I wanted to try more things, but there was absolutely no way, we already had so much food! This is definitely more of a family-style dining experience. In my opinion, this isn't your typical quick Chinese food spot or chain restaurant. The quality, freshness, portions, and overall experience put Boston Lobster on another level. I also loved the atmosphere. We sat near the live seafood tanks, so you can actually see the lobsters and other seafood in the tanks, which added to the experience. They also have their own private parking lot with two-hour parking, which is a huge plus. We didn't have reservations and were able to get seated, but I could definitely see this place getting crowded, so reservations may be helpful during busier times. For me, Boston Lobster is easily FIVE STARS. If you're in the Rosemead area looking for delicious Asian seafood and some seriously good lobster, I definitely recommend it. It was a bit dark for our eyes to see the menu but we had our phones. I wish they had a nice light or candle which would help with the lowlight. On to the food. Excellent. It was so good. Everything is served for sharing. This is a Spanish restaurant so think tapas. We shared tapas - albondigas in tomato sauce, Olives and garlic, octopus with potatoes. All so tasty and delicious. For the main meal, we ordered, filet mignon, seabass, lamb chops and rigatoni with peas and serrano ham. We shared each others dishes so that everyone had a few bites. It did not disappoint. I really want to go back to try the paellas.

To be honest, I'm really not familiar with Spanish food and don't think I've tried it before. But…read morethis meal was so flavorful and delicious. We got the pan con tomato, the shrimp in wine sauce, the salmon in lemon caper sauce, and the papas bravas. The shrimp was okay, but everything else was outstanding. The salmon tasted very fresh and the lemon sauce was perfection, a lil thick and creamy lemon sauce. The potatoes in both the salmon dish and the papas bravas dish were cooked to perfection, and the pan con tomate had this perfect crunch to it. This restaurant is beautiful as well, whether you're inside or out in the alley at sunset where you get sky and Mountain View's and an alleyway lit with string lights. It's a beautiful setting. I would definitely come back and adventure to try more things on their menu.

There are private rooms in the back on request if you have a larger party and seafood is always fresh as they have an aquarium with lobsters, crab, geoduck, and fish. The decor is charming with vintage trinkets along the side of the wall. There is a waiting area by the lobby and restrooms in the back of the restaurant. Since it gets so crowded and busy the restrooms could be tended better. Parking is available on the street otherwise you have to valet on the lot.

The 4 of us especially liked the white fish with basil and the shrimp with snow peas. The rice noodles with seafood and the kung pao were also good. That said, we like our food spicier, so we asked for chili oil and limes. Some dishes did have vegetables, but when I go again I'll order a vegetable dish. Service was stellar - personal, but never intrusive. I liked that we were seated immediately and still given time for our late guests to arrive. Food arrived quickly once we ordered. They were gracious about splitting the tab afterwards, but could easily have asked whether we wanted separate checks since we were 3 unrelated sets of adults that arrived separately. So, what could have been better? The chafing spoons were too small and too few, leaving us to pull the chafing plate to the edge of the lazy Susan and scrape. My dinner plate was too small, so I made a bit of a mess while eating. The main room is noisy, even with some empty tables, Next time I'll ask for a table in the quiet section (to the right when coming in the main door.) I've driven past Newport Seafood many times and not gone in because the parking lot was already full, and it's not my style to park elsewhere and walk over. However, on Monday at 5 PM, we found ample parking. All that said, Newport Seafood seemed at its best when serving special meals to large families all around us. I will think of them next time we celebrate a special family occasion.
