The lobster grilled cheese is the thing to order, trust me! You get a little side of lobster bisque with it, the bread is soft, and you get a good amount of lobster in the sandwich. The lobster roll was good too, but the grilled cheese stole the show. Really solid meal, but so much bread, I was uncomfortably full after lol. read more

Very friendly worker and the lobster roll was pretty good. I would say its a little overpriced for what it was, but not too bad. Its very small though. Might be worth a stop if your group can't agree where to eat since its located in a food court, but I wouldn't go out of my way to come here. read more

I've tried all of the popular ones in the Bay, including 2 $$$ versions from 2 different Michelin star restaurants, and believe me, none touch this one. AND none are cheaper!!!--$28 baby! STUFFED to the brim with high quality, fresh as f, cooked perfectly large chunks of good lobsta! Super toasted bread drenched in butta. With a side of butta for you to dip the big ass chunks falling out. Next time I crave a lobsta roll I'm flying to Legoland and coming here! A frickin #FoodStall of all things! This place was very popular. We really had fun at the Windmill center with a great environment, good entertainment, and lots to do. This place was on my list of places to try at the Windmill Food Hall and I was so excited to finally try! I did check out the other spots but I always came back to the Lobster Lab! I ordered the lobster roll warmed with butter, a lobster bisque and chips. The lobster bisque came with little crostinis. The bisque was delicious! It was super hot temperature wise and took a second to cool. The lobster roll came with little micro greens on top, a side of butter and a lemon. The amount of lobster in the roll was impressive and it was delicious! I was obsessed with the lobster bisque and have dreaming about it for days. It will definitely be my go-to on the next rainy day. I chatted with the chef and he was so nice and gave me some information about Lobster Lab. If you haven't eaten here, it's a must try! read more

Father and I shared the XL lobster roll, and it did not disappoint. There was so much large lobster meat inside, the XL was worth it and they did not skimp on the lobster. The bisque paired really nicely with the roll, especially to dip it in! Total was a bit pricey but worth it for the extra fresh meat! read more

Hadn't been to the Windmill Food Hall before and happy to have found it and Lobster Lab! Used to go to Wicked Maine Lobster but it closed down and needed to satisfy my lobster roll craving when visiting Carlsbad. Lobster Lab exceeded expectations! The sandwich was much bigger than expected and was Normal not XL. The garlic butter was a nice "dressing" on the sandwich. They load the roll with lobster, and don't add much more to it - a hint of greens. So you're getting mostly lobster and big chunks of it! Also tried their grilled cheese, which was loaded with melty, gooey cheese. Will have to try the crab or lobster in the grilled cheese next time. The server was super friendly. The outdoor picnic table seating was the perfect setting to enjoy the lobster rolls. Went a little after lunch on a Thursday so was quiet. Will definitely go back for more lobster rolls next time I visit Carlsbad, as much as I'll want to try some of the other restaurants at the food hall. TLDR - lots of lobster in a large fluffy, toasted piece of bread. read more

Yummy lobster rolls and lobster grill cheese!! I had the lobster grill cheese first and it was superb! The lobster roll is also excellent! It's hard to choose between the 2. The bread on the lobster roll is so good and so soft! I get mine warm with butter but there is a cold option with mayo. I guess I'll give that a try next time, but I do believe the warm one is better even though I haven't tried the cold option. Customer service is good and they are pretty fast. The ambience is a fun food court spot with arcade games. read more

The windmill food hall has a bunch of food and drink options to choose from, and Lobster Lab definitely caught my eye immediately! - PARKING - Huge dedicated lot for the food hall, as well as event spaces - people have weddings here! - SERVICE/ENVIRONMENT - Huge dining hall, with various seating arrangements from long tables for big groups, to barrels and bar seating for smaller groups. The staff members at Lobster Lab were very welcoming, and had a great attitude! They were excited about each of our choices, which always makes my decision making feel better. After we ordered, it only took around 10 minutes for the food to come out. - FOOD - Lobster Roll (normal - $22.00): We didn't get the XL and this still seemed like a huge portion! The lobster was sticking out from both ends, and smelled so good! We got the butter on the side, but honestly everything was amazing as is! The brioche bun was so soft but toasted perfectly! Lobster Bisque (cup - $8.00): This comes with small pieces of toast to dip, but I wish they gave more! The ratio of soup to bread could have been better, but the bisque was still quite yummy! Caviar (4pc - $20.00): These looked so pretty, I didn't want to eat them! When we did, I immediately wanted to scarf down the second one because it was so good! Definitely a treat to have as they're small for the price, but was delicious while they lasted! - OVERALL - I'd definitely order the Lobster Roll again, and if I feel like treating myself, maybe order another Caviar! read more

Mannnnn !! get the Lobster Grill cheese sandwich! Amazing on a different level. Love the location of this place, in a food hall and there is so much seating. I tired the crab roll, shrimp roll, lobster, lobster bisque, and the caviar. Everything was amazing, my favorite roll was the shrimp roll because of the ingredients were on point and you can tell they were fresh. The lady at the cashier was very nice in helping us. Lobster Lab was AMAZING!!! It was my first time visiting The Windmill Food Hall and since it's near the beach, I was craving seafood. I'm a sucker for lobster rolls and clam chowder, and this place had both of those items and even more. I was almost tempted to buy the caviar but held back. The lobster roll and clam chowder I ordered instantly satisfied my craving and exceeded my expectations. Both were delicious, but the lobster roll especially made me very happy since I was disappointed with the last lobster roll I got at another place. After eating here, I felt like my soul was healed! The clam chowder was perfectly soupy, not watery at all, not bland, with enough flavor and chunks of clam. The crispy bread they provided also were perfectly paired with the soup. Now for the main item, the lobster roll, I like how there were two sizes offered and they even ask how you'd like it prepared/what style you want. I got the Normal size (half a pound of lobster I think) instead of the XL size (one whole pound of lobster). I was kind of worried there might not be enough lobster meat but once my food came out, I knew I made the right choice. It was plenty enough to have mouth full bites of lobster!!! The lobster was juicy and flavorful, the bread was soft and fluffy, and the melted butter added an incredible touch on top. It doesn't even come with sides, but was absolutely worth what I paid for. Not to mention, there was live entertainment so great vibes overall. I hope to come back to Carlsbad soon to eat here again (and to try the caviar). Until then, Lobster Lab's lobster roll will live in my dreams!!! read more

This is a hard review for this establishment. My wife and I both ordered lobster bisque (cup & bowl). I also ordered a regular crab roll. Service was great & with a smile. The lobster bisque was hot & great tasting. They provided toasted bread slices which is a nice touch. However my crab roll is the issue as it was huge and stuffed with crab salad. The crab salad was very bland & I had some concern about its freshness. Later that night I had stomach cramps that finally subsided in the morning. Not sure but pretty sure the crab salad was only marginally fresh. Next time if it happens will stay with lobster. The third star is for the service & the lobster bisque. read more

Saw clips of this place on Instagram and decided to try it out since we were in the area. It's in a busy, fun food court where live music was playing. Waited just a few minutes after ordering a regular-sized lobster roll (3oz of lobster-the XL is 6oz). Was impressed with the appearance and the taste didn't disappoint! The bread was perfectly toasted with a hint of sweetness and complemented the lobster without taking away from it. We ordered ours hot with melted butter, but you can also order it cold with a sauce. I had the caviar, lobster roll, tuna melts, lobster grilled cheese, and clam chowder. Dessert menu was great and I forgot what it was called but the one I ordered was fantastic. I will say, dining here is worth the price. You get such great foods, great service, and the view is just gorgeous. Will definitely be coming back. My girlfriend got the teriyaki chicken bowl and she said it was just OK, so I'd recommend sticking with the more American options. Also got garlic fries which I liked a lot but my girlfriend said were too heavy. Only recommendation would be to make a reservation if you can. We came here in the low season in march and it still took 35 minutes for a table for two. Have to imagine it's 1-2 hour wait in summer.

it's saturday night. we don't have a reservation. they tell us the wait is over an hour. what do we…read moredo? we wait. and thank jebus we did, because this ended up being one of the best meals i've had in a while. we started with the prawn. we each got one, and given that they're $10 a skewer, our bill started off STRONG. the prawns were perfectly roasted with hints of mezcal and prickly pear. the candied habanero or whatever garnish of death was on there totally kicked my ass in terms of spice. in true Asian fashion, we ripped the heads off and sucked all the goodness out of them too. no shame. you don't waste the good stuff. then the cornbread showed up. the group collectively agreed we'd pass on this one next time. for me, the goat cheese threw me off, but that's entirely on me because i hate goat cheese and still knowingly ordered something with goat cheese. i played myself. there was absolutely nothing wrong with the dish, but compared to everything else we ate, there wasn't anything particularly standout about it either. but then. the fucking broccoli showed up. it is literally charred broccoli with chermoula, lime, and peanut. that's it. BROCCOLI. and after taking one bite, i learned that broccoli could, in fact, be life changing. suddenly i was a new woman. a woman who wanted nothing more than to sit there and stuff her face with massive amounts of broccoli. unfortunately, i couldn't because we still had dishes to taste. and so i moved on to the pork belly. when people describe something as "melting in your mouth," they are specifically referring to Campfire's pork belly. because that's exactly what it did. just melted all up in my mouth and lit my taste buds on fire. normally, i find pork belly prepared this way a little heavy and can only stomach a few bites, but i could have eaten the entire dish. but of course i didn't, because i'm a lady. and the octopus was about to show up. and show up it DID. i don't like celery, and this dish had plenty of it, but because it was shaved super thin, it was actually super palatable. the octopus was incredibly tender, and there were little bits of chorizo throughout that gave it the perfect balance. also, love me a good chimichurri sauce. and finally, last but truly not least, the chicken. a whole ass half bird, charred to perfection with roasted red pepper, kumquat, and fennel. apparently i like fennel now??? i didn't even know i liked fennel like that, but here we are. if i hadn't already been stuffed to the absolute brim, i could have destroyed this entire dish. the chicken was juicy and tender, and paired with the fennel, you're almost like just having a healthy dish??? LOL. although we went in with every intention of ending the night with s'mores, our bodies simply said no. there was no more room at the inn. see what i did there :P so instead, we left and went on a very long walk to digest all the delicious goodness that was Campfire. i cannot wait to go back. mostly for the broccoli, which is a sentence i never thought i'd write in my life. and this time, i will absolutely be making a reservation.

She served us in the bar area and she's super friendly and efficient. So glad we had her again. However, there were other nice & kind helpers that brought other food & dessert out and cleared our table. These employees really add to the wonderful dining experience. The vibe in this place is warm but lively, makes you just want to hang out. We missed the salsa class that was going to start in 45 minutes which they have every Saturday night. They cleared out some of the tables in the bar area to accommodate it. So cool they have these events. We'll be back!

The Birria Chimichanga bites were delicious! If you come for happy hour try that. The service was great! We were seating outdoors. It was ok until the sun hit our seating area. I'm sure it would be great to dine outside when it's cooler in the evening. Now, if it's too hot outside, you can choose to dine in inside the restaurant. Parking in this area gets full quickly.
