I originally visited PieconicNY for a yelp event and enjoyed that experience. The staff members…read morethere were wonderful, friendly and helpful. So, I decided to send a couple of pies to my stepmom for her birthday and ordered them from the website. Unfortunately, the pies did not arrive in time for her birthday - so I had to call and find out what happened. Long story short, they only ship pies on certain days of the week. It wasn't clear that I had somehow missed a deadline...so I'll blame myself for not reading (or, perhaps understanding) the fine print and also say that there's some room for improvement on the website re: shipping expectations/communications. If a customer is paying almost as much as a pie costs for expedited shipping, it's assumed that the order will go out within a day or two of the initial order. The owner actually called me to talk me through it - which was very nice - and he even offered to drive the pies to me (not realizing that I was shipping to another state). Anyway - the pies did eventually get there and they reported back: -shipping/packaging was great -arrived frozen as advertised -they kept frozen until Easter -the crown maple pecan pie was the favorite - hands down winner -the Empire State bourbon chocolate - very rich but (their opinion) - the bourbon flavor was a little too heavy handed. Overall the products here are good quality and I'd check in again at some point.

I've read the other reviews and I'm beginning to believe that people's preferences for pies is…read moresimilar to people's preferences for pizza. Everyone has their own idea of what makes the perfect pie/pizza. I agree with those who praise the service they received. We found Lena to be very helpful and informative. As is pointed out on their website, you can't be certain that they will have the pie flavor you crave if you are a walk-in. Yes, you can order a pie ahead of time, but plan on giving them 48 to 78 hours, and all flavors may not be available to you. Their most popular pies are the Bourbon Chocolate Walnut, the Backyard Apple, and the Chocolate Ecstasy. We tried three "different" pies. I emphasize "different" because not only was each flavor different, but each pie was also different from any similar flavored pie we've ever had. One common difference was the crust. None of the pies had a flaky crust. Instead, the end crusts had a heavy, dense texture that was difficult to cut. It was a good-flavored crust, however. The Chocolate Ecstasy was nicely rich, flavorful, and not overly dense. The Bourbon Chocolate Walnut had a filling that approached the look of a quiche with pieces of walnut and chocolate chips. There was a hint of bourbon flavor, and it was my wife's favorite. The Double Blueberry Crumble may have been my favorite, but my wife tasted an herb flavor that turned her off. This may be why I thought it surprisingly had a savoriness flavor. No herbs were listed on the ingredients. We also purchased a Lemon Cookie. Nice strong lemon flavor, soft and chewy, but once again it was not like any cookie I'd had before because it was as thick as a single layer cake. The coffee we tried was average and lacked the boldness I prefer. There were obviously many things that we did not try. If we are back in the area I'd consider stopping in to try something like a quiche, muffin or cheesecake.

I regret not taking better photos, but at least I got a quick shot of the delightful cake. It was all absurdly good. I can't get over how fluffy the frosting is and how perfect the cookie textures are. The woman working was also really nice and, despite it being the end of the day, I didn't feel at all rushed or like she just wanted to close up. Here's how much we loved it: My husband and I went there yesterday while on a weekend trip. Today, we had to get back home fast to beat the snowstorm, and we seriously considered just risking it and driving out of our way to go back here. We didn't (safety first, etc) but we've decided to order our wedding cake from this place *and* our wedding favors. Seriously, everyone should go to this place. Everyone deserves this magic in their lives!

An absolute hidden gem in New Lebanon!…read more OMG, what an adorable little cafe! We were in New Lebanon and looking for somewhere to eat around 7:30 PM. Being a small town, there weren't many options still open, so we called to see if they were still serving dinner. The sweetest lady answered and told us their kitchen closed at 8:00 PM, but they would still be happy to take us. We're SO glad we called! The moment we walked in, we loved the place. It was beautifully decorated, with fresh wildflowers they had picked themselves, the tables were set so nicely, and everything had such a warm, cozy, welcoming feel. We were seated immediately and had ice water at the table right away. The service from beginning to end was seriously top-notch. Then the wonderful lady helping us, and I'm so sorry we didn't get her name, brought out freshly baked mini blueberry muffins. OH. MY. GOODNESS. They were DELICIOUS. That was the moment we looked at each other and knew dinner was going to be good. And it absolutely was! Our daughter ordered an omelette, my wife had the steak frites, and I ordered the chicken piccata. Every single dish was delicious. My wife also ordered a blueberry cosmo, which she loved! At this point we were completely stuffed, but there was no way we were leaving without trying dessert. We ordered the red velvet cake AND the chocolate croissant bread pudding with vanilla ice cream. Did we need both? Absolutely not. Did we finish them anyway? Pretty much! The food was just THAT good. We kept telling ourselves we were full and somehow kept taking another bite. What really made this place special, though, was the hospitality. We came in close to closing time, and instead of ever making us feel rushed or like an inconvenience, they welcomed us with kindness and gave us a wonderful dinner experience. That says a lot about a place. 5 stars all the way. If you're anywhere near New Lebanon, do yourself a favor and stop here. Places like this deserve all the support and business they can get. Great food, beautiful atmosphere, and genuinely wonderful people. We will DEFINITELY be back, and next time we're coming for breakfast!

I picked up a matcha latte here, and my friend catered a delicious brunch from this spot!…read more I appreciated that the matcha didn't come pre-sweetened. It could've been whisked/blended a bit better (separated a bit), but I was happy with it overall. Regarding the catering, I was a big fan of the avocado toast (super fresh and creamy and nice flavor) and tasty muffins (I enjoyed the blueberry muffin.) It takes a bit to make drinks / food, so be sure to allocate some time--this isn't one of the factory-like cafes that churn out drinks / whip out ready-made food. The interior is cute and has assorted offerings of general foods/supplies that were fun to peruse.

The bread will go home with us. The pizza is for dinner. Each pizza would probably serve one adult man and are absolutely delicious. Cooking instructions are on the wrap - put them right on the rack. Crispy crust has plenty of air pockets to keep it light with a good chew. The BBQ onion is sweet. The roasted garlic had a bunch of garlic scattered all over. Lots of cheese on both. The last pizza, roasted red pepper, will be for another day. They had about five pre-made frozen pizza options when we visited. If you prefer, call ahead and they will build one fresh to your liking for you to pick up and bake at home. The interior shopping area is small. By the register is a pastry display case with the most enormous stuffed croissants, scones, cookies and other sweet treats. Behind that is a display of fresh breads. On a rack by the door are bagged bread goods. Freezer and refrigerator cases are along the wall. If I lived around here I would without a doubt be a regular customer and try all their offerings. As for the Housatonic location we ordered some fabulous Almond Croissants and Baguette and San Francisco Bread loaf. Whoa delicious. The woman serving us was outstanding and her very professional attitude was a relief compared to their Pittsfield experience we had. Thank you!

How much did you pay the last time you had a one scoop ice cream cone? I bet the odds are pretty…read moregood you may have paid triple what I paid yesterday. Because yesterday, I paid (brace yourself) a buck and a half for a one-scoop cone of pistachio gelato. Yup, I really did. Scoop 518 is the quintessential small town ice cream shop. You'll find it located on the picture perfect Main Street of Chatham, NY. It has a very cool eclectic interior with pink trim, black and white mosaic floor tiles, giant circus posters, and I kid you not... a giraffe neck and head sticking out of the upper cabinets behind the counter. They offered 16 flavors, a lot of the first generation basics (chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, coffee, black raspberry, butter pecan, maple walnut, mint chocolate chip), some of the second generation of flavors (cookie dough, cookies and cream, salted caramel, peanut butter fudge), plus a sherbert, 2 sorbets and a gelato for those looking to save some calories. Actually, I paid 2 bucks for my cone because I added chocolate sprinkles for fifty cents. I'm used to having cones rolled around in a bowl of sprinkles for the maximum density of sprinkle application. But that wasn't the case here. She put the sprinkles into a plastic quarter cup container and carefully sprinkled the sprinkles onto and around the ice cream. It didn't work very well and when was the last time you felt ripped off for paying an extra fifty cents? Anyway, 2 bucks for a cone with a smattering of sprinkles is still a fantastic bargain. By the way, the pistachio gelato was delicious.
