Another disappointing experience here. This will be the last time I come back. Stopped in on a Wednesday night for a quick dinner. There was a large group of kids there that looked like they had just come from a sporting event, so I figured it was gonna be a little bit busy. However, no one even stopped by our table for a good 10 minutes after being there. I had to go up to the bar to get my own menus. Our server only stopped by out table twice, once to take our order, and once to bring our food and drinks over. The quality of their food has definitely declined. I had the Barbacoa and blackened fish tacos; both of them were not very good. The fish was not at all seasoned, and the Barbacoa was way too spicy. Additionally, I got both tacos Weezy style, and the cheese they use for that is basically the same cheese you get for stadium nachos. I will say, the drinks were good, and the restaurant itself has tons of seating. Overall, this is my last time coming here. The previous time I came here I also felt like the food quality had sharply declined, and unfortunately, this visit confirmed my prior bad experience. read more

Honestly, as a whole, this place sucked. Went for taco Tuesday with a new friend that I raved to about this place (the one on High St has never disappointed me before). We decided on this location due to proximity to her but that was a terrible idea. No greeting when we came in or left. Half the place was empty at 5pm on taco Tuesday which should have been my cue this location sucks. The service was okay. The server got pen mark on my card from the way she put the pen upright on the receipt, which whatever who cares but my card is light colored so this annoyed me. It didn't wipe off. The very little meat in my tacos was cold and the onions on top were ICE cold. Both salsas from the chip bar were literally watered down to the point it was disgusting. Whats the point of free chips if they're overly salted & the salsa is inedible? Both bathrooms were dirty, smelled, and looked like they had not been cleaned in days. They played weird pop music I'm not used to hearing in Mexican restaurants. The parking lot, albeit not their fault, is awful and people do not pay much attention. Skip this location. read more

Local Cantina's menu is fresh and creative. I love that the chips and salsa bar is self serve. This location is tucked away off the main drive in a small shopping plaza. It was not very busy when we arrived for lunch on a Saturday. I had the Nashville Hot Chicken taco - which was not very hot - and the Hong Kong Phooey - which was quite hot, sweet and delicious. I've been coming here for years, and the service and food has always been pretty good. I've actually really enjoyed the food while coming here. While in college, I regularly hit up the two dollar taco day. A couple weeks ago I called in on the phone for a pick up order to get those tacos. No one told me on the phone about how they don't honor the deal over takeout, but when I got there my order was almost double what it should've been. We asked if we could eat the food in store to receive our discount and the bartender told us she "wanted to go home." She went to the back to re ring it in. And then someone else came up to us and told us we had to take it to go with no discount. This would've been fine if they would've told us that on phone, or didn't treat us like we were dumb for not knowing that. Won't come again. Disappointed because the food is actually good. read more

Came here on a Tuesday around 6pm! Parking can be a little challenging here because spots can fill up fast and some areas you need to pay. My friends got there earlier and had to wait ~15 minutes for a table. The chips and salsa are unlimited and self serve which is nice. They have a great deal on tacos on Tuesday! Each regular taco is $2.22! Such a steal! I got 3 tacos and that was filling. The tacos were so average but a great deal. The tacos were very filling! I love some queso and local cantina does it well. I saw they had a special strange times menu out and wanted to give it a try. The strange times menu has fries, burger, wings, chicken sandwich, etc. I got the queso burger and side of queso fries. The burger was a pretty good size. I got all the toppings but the jalapeños didn't do anything for me so I took those off. The bun wasn't my favorite, but the rest was pretty standard cheese burger. Not sure I would order again. The queso fries were just a small side of shoe string fries that were a tad greasy but good, and the usual queso on the side. It was about half the amount of queso you get for a normal chips and queso. I thought it was a really tasty combo! I also got the free chips and salsa and was able to use the chips for the queso I had leftover. They have set up special area for takeout at the bar since the pandemic and that has been great usually. However this time around it seemed like the takeout area had shrunk and was like about 2 feet wide? And people sit on either side separate by plexi glass. Thankfully it wasn't busy so I didn't have to wait long or stand in that small area because I was helped right away. read more

I spent the entire day next door at Grandview Grind working away and after several hours, I decided it was time to get my grub on. With Local Cantina being right next door, it was a quick and easy choice for my coworker and I to make. Better yet, it was happy hour (from 3-6PM). We grabbed a table outside on the patio, let the bartender know we would be out there, and then went straight for the salsa bar. Free endless chips and salsa, this will always win me over. The chips were warm and sturdy, and the salsa was mild and super refreshing. It was a great way to quiet the grumbling going on in my tummy. After looking over the menu I decided on getting three tacos; the Veggie ($3), the Farmers Market ($4.5), and the Tempura Shrimp ($4). I really enjoyed the veggie taco. It had guac, roasted corn salsa, cabbage, pico, and a delicious chipotle agave sauce drizzled on top. That sauce was amazing, and I'd gladly take a bottle to-go. The Farmers Market taco was my next favorite. Packed full of peppers and onions, beans, salsas, and more of that yummy sauce. It was a winner too! The only one I did not like was the Tempura Shrimp. The sweet chili sauce they put on it was terrible. Way too sweet. I got two bites in and tossed it aside. It reminded me of the sweet and sour sauce you dip your eggrolls in. Not good on a taco. I know this location has been around longer than the one close to my home, and I believe this is why my experience here was much better. The server we had was prompt and took good care of us and despite the icky shrimp taco, everything else was enjoyable. Next time I think I'll branch out from their taco menu and try something new. This is a fun place, it's also what I imagine safe American suburbia thinks Mexico looks like. It's a bar with fun Mexican - American style food. A wide variety of different types of tacos, fajitas, and more. The tacos are smallish but look tasty. The service started out a little bit slow but once they figured out we were here, they came around the table more. It is dog friendly, if you want to bring a dog, so that's a plus definitely. Some outdoor seating at high top tables. Plenty of bar seating and low top tables as well as a few high top tables inside. About a half dozen big screen TVs all of which are tuned to various sports channels, so if you want to go watch a sporting event and have some drinks this is the place to be. I ordered the beef brisket taco and the fish taco - both were fantastic. You do need to be prepared for loud dance music - It also adds to the atmosphere of creating fun for the patrons. Here's a tip, as told by one of the service staff: you'll see two types of margaritas on the menu, one type tastes more like juice, the other type tastes more like alcohol. But they both pretty much have the same amount of alcohol in it, according to one of the servers. she said people order the ones that taste more like alcohol sometimes maybe because it's more "manly." I've been to a different location in Clintonville but had no idea there was one in Grandview. My friend suggested this one although she normally frequents the one in the Brewery District. I came on a Friday around 5:30 and there were tons of tables open. There had been a downpour just earlier which may have deterred some from coming. More people started coming in around 7 though. Anyway, they have a parking lot! I didn't even know, so I parked a block away. Anyway, the waitress was really nice! When I mentioned that there weren't any chips left, she came and brought us some. I love that they give chips and salsa for free here! Unfortunately, they tasted like they were not fresh. Regardless, she did a good job checking up on us a lot! We both ordered tacos. I got the migas, which is a vegetarian taco with pickled onions, refried beans, guacamole, and sour cream. It was very flavorful! I also got tempura shrimp, which was shrimp with queso fresco, lettuce, and a sweet chili sauce. Yum! My friend got the Baja shrimp, which had shrimp, cabbage, cilantro, Baja sauce, and queso fresco. She also got the farmers market taco. It has both a hard and soft shell taco, refried beans, guacamole, peppers, onion, pico, cabbage, corn, and a chipotle agave sauce. She loved them!! I've never had a bad taco here. I enjoy Local Cantina a lot. My only complaint is that it gets so loud that you can even hear yourself speak. This place really surprised me. The tacos are excellent and you can get two for 950. Marguerite is a pretty good too. They have soft serve chips and salsa and once you order the food comes out pretty quick. It came out in less than five minutes when we were there on a Saturday afternoon. During the Covid quarantine I have ordered takeout from Local Cantina on 2 separate occasions and have had a great experience both times! They are offering their full menu for ordering and have worked their website for online ordering and payment. The process is quick and easy. Both of our orders included the free chips and salsa that you get for dining in, and our food has been ready for pickup in 15 minutes. Our orders have been accurate and service friendly! My first time at Local Cantina was for Cinco de Mayo! I have wanted to check this place out for a long time and finally got around to it. I loved all the cute little lights throughout the bar and the Polaroids serving as decor. The tables and chairs seemed older and a bit janky. This place doesn't try hard to be very nice. I got a mustache ride margarita and it was decent. It was pretty strong which I definitely appreciated but there was nothing special about it. My friends vodka pineapple was ok, again nothing too special. They also have a decent selection of drafts as well and margaritas. Overall it was a fine experience. The bartender was great and the music was a bit of '00 hip hop which was an interesting throw back. I would come back to check out the tacos and the food selection but judging by everything else it will be fine but nothing to write home about read more

We went here on a Friday night expecting it to be busy-- they were but we didn't have to wait long. Our server was great, and made sure to check if we wanted an extra beer rang in before happy hour ended. The self serve chips and salsa is great. We also ordered the dips trio and the queso had just enough jalapeño in it. Guac was fresh and bean dip was smooth! Tacos came quickly & were very flavorful! My husband had the special of the evening in his mix of tacos and loved the Italian one. He was raving about it the next day even. I had the wheezy one and the fish one. Both were delicious. I've been going to local cantina for awhile now and I've tried their cantina fish (pictures on the left), shrimp tempura (pictured on the right), crunchweezy, Baja shrimp and the Nashville hot chicken taco. Honestly, the only ones that I actually LOVE to have are the shrimp tempura and crunchweezy tacos. The other ones I have found to be bland or the flavors just don't work well together. I've also had each of their dips (guacamole pictured). The guacamole is NOT good. It has an extremely bitter lime taste and doesn't have any chunks of avocado in it. The queso is really good and the salsa is subpar but at least it's free! I definitely recommend giving this place a try though if you haven't had it. Chi Chi's emerged in the 1970s, and spread throughout suburbia, then, in the 80s, it was Don Pablo's, the 1990s brought us Rio Bravo. Chipotle exploded in the 2000s, but faced some backlash as people discovered taco trucks, but, right on schedule, here we are with Local Cantina, and a bunch of mediocre food that conforms to white perception of what mexican food should be. Remember when Sandra Bullock told Sly Stallone that all restaurants were taco bell in the future? She was talking about this crap. There's nothing special here. What a great meal!! I couldn't fnd a thing to say bad about this place. It was easy to find; right in the middle of Grandviews litlte shopping center. And there was plenty of parking, all for free. As for the food, everything was just great, from the chips to the drinks. I started with the chips. They were thin and crispy and the taco sauce was very good. I then ordered three tacos: one carnitas, a tempura shrimp, and a brisket. And they were all just great! I also ordered a regular margarita, heavy on the salt. It was delicious.
