Booze, medicine and toiletries kept behind the counter.
    Jacqueline B.

I really regret that my first time visiting this store was in a time when stores were more hectic than usual(March 2020, amid Covid 19 quarantine, no disinfecting supplies or hand sanitizer, plenty of toilet paper but it was going quickly). I really miss the Dominick's in this area and I'm glad something is there. Not just groceries but a hot and cold bar too(apparently they were written up for health inspections, according to Yelp, but apparently they got past that). The store was nicely organized but still needed longer gaps between aisles and cashiers. I didn't like but understood how small toiletries and alcohol was kept BEHIND a separate counter. Those items, even in non-crisis times, are vulnerable to shoplifting but it gives off a 'we don't trust you' vibe to the consumer. Checkout was ok, we got a lot of great deals, and we got a few items from the hot bar (breaded jalapeno and chicken wings, both very good). The Bus Trackers at the front of the store were a HUGE help, but we got an Uber home.

Last month I purchased a Fiji water from the cooler by the self check out. When I opened it, it tasted old. It had a musty taste. Then my husband bought some pork chops earlier this month and they were rancid. Today my husband purchased some 80/20 ground beef today 1/24/2026 for some patty melts. I noticed upon opening the package that some of the meat looked fresh and other parts looked dark a bit. I smelled it and it smelled fine so I proceeded to make patty melts. My whole family ate. Their patty melts with no problem. My husband was the last one to eat his and he found a long piece of hair in his burger. Like a long strand. My hair is short like Halle Berry's 90's short. This wasn't my hair. This hair was embedded into the patty. This came from the store. We were disgusted! While things like this can happen, management needs to enforce that all employees in meat, bakery etc are wearing hairnets. Also do a better with your overall quality control!!!

I bought them because I was in a rush and didn't have time to go elsewhere due to needing to get my toddler home for a nap. I opened my pack of organic beef jerky today (I bought it yesterday and it expired last year!). I only checked the expiration date because I actually ate it and it was so stale and tasted weird. This is VERY bad. Not to mention the cashier rushed me and blamed me for the line getting long because she didn't feel I was packing the food onto the conveyor belt quick enough (minding you I was shopping with my toddler. I told her I was sorry then felt annoyed that I was apologizing for HER rude customer service. Apparently someone was ready to clock out and go home because "rushing a customer will certainly make things go quicker". Never again will I shop here because I can't rely on them to ensure no expired food remains on that shelf, nor can I trust if I will be rushed at the cashier. I'm floored.

Items will not be put in racks as neatly as in fancier supermarkets, but you'll find what you need AND this contributes to the price bring so so low. You have to try some things out and see if you like them: not everything at Aldi is as good as 'brandless' items from other supermarkets. They will not have 'everything ', for instance, they don't sell the full range of spices you would find at Trader Joe's or whole foods. There is no fresh bread, only the prepackaged kind. Variety of fruit and veggies is limited (see below for quality). I fully recommend everything organic, and there is quite a lot. Vegetarian "meats" and soy milk too! The aisle to the back, opposite the freezers, has seasonal items, such as Halloween things or German/Italian etc. try it out but don't get hooked, it will be gone in a few weeks. Likewise, non-food items such as cookware, clothing, garden items often change within a month or so, but this is my favorite aisle to score deals! Similar quality to Target, but lower prices. Why am I taking a star off, despite wonderful prices on daily needs (milk, eggs, flour, pasta, toilet paper etc) , good non-food deals and good service? The veggie and fruit section is a hit or miss: sometimes they have great fruit for low prices. Oftentimes, fruits/vegetables are sold out OR there is mold on the veggies and fruit, especially zucchini, green beans and berries. This really needs to change. This part of South Side Chicago is enough of a food desert the way it is. Stores that DO sell fresh fruits and vegetables really need to restock in time and make sure their produce is still edible.

Subject: Formal Complaint Regarding Service, Product Quality, and Manager Conduct…read more I am submitting this complaint to document a deeply disappointing and frustrating experience at your store that warrants immediate review by leadership. I have been a loyal Whole Foods customer for years, regularly purchasing flowers and groceries, which makes this situation especially upsetting. I recently purchased flowers for my mother, only to have them wither the very next day. My mother was upset, and I contacted the store to resolve the issue. When I spoke with a manager named Mia (possibly spelled Mya), I was told to "bring pictures of the flowers." I found this request insulting and unnecessary -- particularly because she was the one who rang up my purchase and because I have built a consistent, professional rapport with her as a regular customer. Being asked to "prove" the issue felt dismissive and accusatory, as if my integrity were in question. When I returned to the store for a replacement, I was told that I had not been charged for the flowers in the first place -- an error made by the store. Manager Josh then stated that "associates make mistakes all the time." While I understand that mistakes happen, what concerned me was the lack of accountability and the complete absence of any meaningful customer consideration. Despite the inconvenience, the poor product quality, and the disrespectful interaction I experienced, I was not offered a discount, an even exchange, or any gesture of goodwill. To make matters worse, during this visit I purchased additional flowers and an orchid at full price. Even then, no one made any effort to acknowledge the situation beyond repeated apologies. Apologies without action do not resolve the issue, nor do they demonstrate that my loyalty or business is valued. A customer who has been inconvenienced, insulted, and sold a defective product deserves more than empty apologies. Respect is shown through action -- whether that is a discount, a replacement without interrogation, or a simple gesture that acknowledges the customer's experience. As the saying goes, "People don't care unless they know you care." At this point, I did not feel cared for, valued, or respected. In the movie Jerry Maguire, the famous line "Show me the money" became iconic because it represented proof, not promises. I am asking Whole Foods to show me -- through action, not words -- that my business matters. If this is not something your store can demonstrate, then I will take my loyalty elsewhere and make my concerns known. I am requesting a formal review of this incident, including the conduct of the managers involved, and an appropriate resolution that reflects the seriousness of this experience.

State Street, On Monday…read moreEvening May 6, 2024, A Little Before 7pm, To Do A Little Shopping (Spending A Total Of $529.50. $316.57 In EBT And $312.93 In Debit. Along With A $100 Cash Back Request. My Receipt Ticket Transaction Number Is #049486 At 8:01pm). While Wrapping Up Our Shopping, Before Heading To The Check Out Line, My Youngest Daughter And I, Went To Head Over To The Ladies Room, While My Oldest And My Youngest Son, Headed To The Checkout Line. As We Were Heading To The Washroom, I Not Only Noticed That There Was Shopping Cart(Not A Maintenance Cart), Blocking Off The Ladies Room, I Also Heard Someone Say, 'You Can't Go In There!'. At First I Wasn't Paying Attention To 'Who' Said It Because I Had To Use The Restroom And Was Just Focusing On Getting There. So, I As We Got Closer To The Restroom/Washroom, I Detoured Towards The Cashier ('Akilah', Is The Name On My Receipt), If We Would Be Able To Utilize The Facilities (Use The Bathroom), And We Were To No. At First, I Thought That Maybe Someone May Have Been In There 'Cleaning' The Bathroom, Like Maybe Mopping It Or Something, As If To Say That The Floors Were Wet Or Something. And If Someone Was In There Cleaning It? Especially, If It Was A Male, I Was Just Going To Ask If He Could Step Out For A Brief Moment, And Allow Us To Use The Ladies Room. No Problem Right?? Wrong!!! What I Was Told, Instead When I Asked 'WHY' We Couldn't Use The Ladies Room, Was 'You Don't Wanna Go In There, There's A 'Crazy Person' In There!'. So, At First, I Kinda Shrugged It Off And Was Like, 'I Don't Mind That, I Just Have To Use The Washroom', And Then The Other Cashier (Who Said That Her 'Title' Was The Store Manager, Although I Did Not Get Her Name. I Was So Distraught That Totally Forgot To Even Ask Her For Her Name), Turned Around And Shouted, 'No! You Can't Go In There!. And I Asked, 'Are You Serious??' And She Replied, With An Attitude, 'Yes!', And Proceeded To Tell Me That She Was The Manager, As If To Let Me Know The She's The One Who Gives All Of The Final Answers, So There Was No Need For Me To Ask Anything Further About It, Because She Said So. What Had Me Confused, The Most, Was The Fact That There Was An Active Security Officer, On Site And Also, Standing In The Front Of The Store. So, I Couldn't Understand 'Why', They Would Not Let Him Do His Job, As Security, And Handle/Rectify That Bathroom Situation. I Use To Work As A Security Officer Myself, For A Public Building Before(Chicago Public Libraries, To Be Exact, For 'Digbys, Detective Security Agency'), So, I Know That An Incident Report Should Have Been Written Up And Filed, With All Of The Details, Along With Calling The Police, To Help Escort, Said 'Crazy Person', Not Only Out Of The Bathroom, Also, To Be Escorted, Off Of The Premises. For The Safety Of Not Only The Staff, Also, For The Safety Of The Patrons/Paying Customers/Shoppers, Both Men, Women AND Children. That Is What Security Is There For In The First Place. And Yet, He Seemed Helpless, To That Situation, Because It Seemed As If The Manager, Was Calling The Shots On That As Well. Anyway, Although, I Will Be Be Visiting That Particular Location Again, Because I Do Enjoy Shopping In Peace, I Did Just Want To Bring This, Disappointing Experience, To A Higher Up's Attention. Because That Locations Staff And Management Needs To Do Better!!! Let Me Reiterate By Being Clear, About Not Blaming The Security Officer, That Was On Duty, That Evening. It Didn't Seem As If He Had ANY Say So, In The Matter. I'm Just HONESTLY Saying. Thank You Very Much, In Advance, For Taking Review Into Consideration, In Regards To The Safety Of The Public, AND Your Loyal Costumers. Tristan Evans

We dared to go on Opening Day and we were glad we did ... it was cold and there was a line, but it was worth the wait. If you like Pete's stores, you are going to like this one. Even though it was opening day, the staffing and number of employees working every part of the business was really amazing. There was an employee in every single aisle to answer questions or head you off in the right direction. Every cash register was being used, and each checkout line had a bagger to speed things along. Besides staff helping all through the store, management was all around to keep everything in top form. The store layout is great ... when you come in the first thing you'll be greeted by (along the south wall) is the huge section devoted to all the fresh fruit and vegetables (FFV); this seems to be a hallmark of the Pete's Fresh stores. All the meat and dairy products line the back wall (west wall) and part of one side on the north wall, leading to all the freshly prepared foods ... rows and rows of serve yourself items where you can put together lunch and/or dinner to go. In between the FFV at the entrance and the food to go on the north wall are numerous aisles with all the standard stuff. The aisles are wide enough so carts can pass each other; all the shelves are blocked and fronted with product. Our favorite thing seems to be a standard for Pete's Fresh stores ... they always tailor their product offerings to the neighborhood they are in. Thus in Bridgeview you have a large section of Halal and Middle Eastern meats and products, and a slightly smaller section on Polish and Eastern European foods. Here in Orland they have a large section of international products ... we counted four or five aisles devoted to international foods. Once again ... if you like the Pete's Fresh concept, you are going to love the new Pete's Market in Orland Park. Recommended.
