Since I was heading back to Orlando on a Tuesday morning after a weekend visiting with family, my brother decided to take the family out for dinner on Monday evening. He selected Local On North, since he and my sister-in-law have been making frequent visits here. Or as he calls it, their go to place. With my sister riding shotgun and providing directions to the restaurant, we met them for dinner shortly before 7:00pm. And we were able to get a parking place right near the entrance. Being a Monday, Local On North was not as busy as on a weekend. So the dining room was more relaxed and quiet, making for an enjoyable evening for food and conversation. We started off with the P.E.I. Mussels appetizer. These are a must! Served in a sauce made up of garlic, heavy cream, and white wine accompanied with a grilled Baguette for dipping into that delicious sauce. For dinner, I ordered the Ahi Tuna Burger. This is amazing! Ground Ahi Tuna seared rare with a soy sesame ginger sauce topped with crispy onions, marinated cucumbers, wasabi mayo, and served on a Brioche bun and French fries. My sister-in-law recommended the RKO Burger. Angus Beef topped with American cheese, tomato jam, crispy onions, and served on a Brioche bun with French fries on the side. I was really curious on trying the Ahi Tuna Burger, but I will try the RKO Burger on a future visit. Other fare our party ordered was the Shrimp Tacos, the Pan-Seared Ahi Tuna, and the Roast Duck with Garlic Mashed Potatoes. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The wood interior and low lighting in the old brick building makes for a comfortable dining experience. I love these old brick buildings! If these walls could talk, I would love to hear their stories. The host who seated us and all of the other patrons was friendly and helpful, as well as our server, who went over the evening specials and any questions we had on the menu with great knowledge. And provided great service with a sense of humor. I wish I had gotten his name. If you have never been here, get directions before coming since several of the streets are one way. GPS is helpful. So is my sister. She had great directions, so driving here was not a problem. Parking is also available in lots nearby. Whenever I visit, me and my sister make a point to have lunch and visit any local antique shops on a Monday afternoon. And since Local On North has lunch hours as well, I think I know where we will go for lunch on my next visit. O read more

Overdue review, but wanted to be sure I left it. me and my wife are new to the area and stopped in for lunch and were so glad we did!! Great place to sit on the patio or inside. It happened to be one of the few spots open on the square on a Sunday so we gave it a try. Very glad we did. We tried this place for lunch before going to the Mill at Etowah to shop. I ordered the German Burger. There was nothing German about the burger but I ordered it because I saw the burger on the plate of another customer and it looked delicious. It was! Two patties of beef with an egg, other toppings, and their special tomato jam. Yummy! My wife had the Brunch special omelet with mushrooms and Gruyere cheese. The omelet was supposedly made with five eggs. It didn't seem that large, more like a standard 3-egg omelet but she was satisfied and had leftovers. The service was friendly and attentive. read more

We had a rather great experience at Local on North. Started out with some tasty local adult beverages. Moved on to bang bang shrimp as an appetizer. (Not the best bang bang we've had but nonetheless delicious). Had the pork tenderloin which was delicious and the appearance on the plate was flawless. Wife had chicken which she said was delicious. Only downfall was it was our date night and we were in and out in under 30 mins. While we were enjoying a canton visit, we opted to dine for a late lunch at this joint. Trendy, seems to fit the bill. Sat at the bar in hopes of a quicker service. But received good but slower service. Server seemed a bit harried since he was covering the most tables in the front of the restaurant. But still offered his services with a smile. Wondering why the person seemingly in charge seems to be wandering around, clearly no sense of urgency for direction from this guy... ordered a house style old fashioned, interesting flavor but still a bit too sweet for my taste. My wife and I started the lunch with a great tasting goat cheese appetizer she moved onto a crab cake sandwich, tasty bind, real lump crab. Savory sauce and a great flavorful bun. I enjoyed the ahi tuna burger, cooked on the rarer side and really enjoyed the ginger dressing that came with a topping of field greens on a soft bun. Fries were fresh cut and twice fried to a crispy finish. That was great. We enjoyed being there but can see it could be a pretty pricey experience. Food was good, I'll be back and next time I will definitely take pix! I had the chicken rolls, and although it was listed as an appetizer, it definitely served as my lunch. Great portion, flavored just right, not too greasy and not too dry. I will definitely order some time again. My daughter had the fish tacos, as soon as she said there might be something she didn't like in it, I went to grab the last taco and my hand still hurts from the smack I got :). My wife had the pancakes, the portion was big enough that I ate what she didn't finish. :). That's why I didn't get to try the cheesecake empenadas. Wowwww!!! My husband & I had been to Local on North previously but coming here for my birthday with my husband & parents was the best decision! Our waiter John did a fantastic job accommodating us. We had the goat cheese croquette, wings, veal meatballs, onion soup, Mediterranean chicken pasta, steak tacos, salmon & the brunch scramble with smoked duck, crème brûlée & bread pudding. My wife and I have eaten many times at LON over the years with no issues but our experience on Christmas Eve was horrible. I hate to write negative reviews but....... We had a 5:45 reservation for our family of 5. Sitting in the dark dungeon of the basement and waiting 55 minutes for our dinner after we ordered was just icing on the cake,. My son and I ordered the rib eye steak special with Mac n cheese, my wife ordered a salad with salmon , my daughter and youngest son burgers.. When the food was brought out my plate and my sons plate were cold to the touch. The steaks, Mac n cheese and asparagus on both plates were all cold. Not luke warm , not even a little warm but literally cold. No exaggeration! My wife's salad with salmon was good and the burgers were good. When the waitress came by I notified her of the issue and she just looked at me and shrugged. I asked to speak with a manager and off she went. 20 minutes later no one came by the table. We needed to be somewhere at 8 pm so I flagged the waitress down and asked for the check and I walked out $330 poorer but wiser as I will never give these folks my money again! This Could have been a fluke / bad night but when a manager will not come by the table to talk about the issue or when no one offers a resolution to a fairly expensive problem then it seems they don't need my business. read more

Went in for Sunday brunch with a friend and I'll start with parking... There is no parking out front so you'll probably pass up the location and have to circle around a few times before you realize that there is parking in the back. There desperately needs to be some kind of signage IMO. Also it's free to park for the businesses that aren't the court house per our server. Upon finally parking and walking around the building to the entrance we were greeted by a hostess asking if we had a reservation and we did so we were seated immediately. Lots of older couples and friends seemly frequent this place. Our server came right over and greeted us and offered us waters and asked if we knew anything else we would want to drink and of course we said MIMOSAS and he offered the bottomless option (about $20) and we agreed. I will say we went during covid and it felt weird that he would take away our glasses and bring out a new one (slowly may I note although there wasn't very much champagne in the glasses). We had about 6 total each and blahhhh. Now to the food... everything we had was bland like seriously bland. I originally planned to order the steak and eggs but there was a menu item that was listed on the wall that caught my eye and instead I ordered the country fried steak with gravy (it was like a drop of gravy spread evenly over the meat and def not the usual way the item is) served with scrambled eggs, and fries for $15. FYI's - the seating didn't feel 6ft apart but they may have been (we are still in a pandemic at the time of this review). The servers and employees all wore masks thankfully although some of the customers did not upon entry. The restrooms were also very clean and stocked appropriately although only 2 unisex restrooms for the entire space. read more

My friend and I went there on a quiet Monday night. Annaliese was our server. She was spot on with descriptions and recommendations. We ordered the bahn mi egg rolls which were so good. Honestly, we could've plowed through 3 or 4 platefuls of those things! We both got shrimp tacos which were equally wonderful, although that chipotle sauce definitely has some heat on it. A fun place in downtown Canton. The food is amazing as is the service. Sitting in the restaurant is pleasant. I's not loud so you can have a conversation. I know they have live music but I've never been there when someone was playing. I was frequently at their Roswell restaurant, The Fix and that's where I got to know the owners just a little bit. I didn't know they were in Canton until I ran into them when eating lunch (try the onion soup and thank me later). Glad we have them in Canton now. And check out their two restaurants at the Mill, Magnolia and Nava. They are great as well but it's the owners that make it. Trickle down works in more than just economics. read more

The food is very good but my friends and I quit going there a couple of years ago because the wine pour was the worst in downtown Canton. The last time I was there, I sat at the bar. When I was ready to leave, I got a to go order. I asked the server if she could put the croutons separately so they wouldn't get soggy in the salad. She seemed very irritated by my request and proceeded to tell me the croutons would be just fine on top of the salad and I didnt need a seperate container for them. I tip very well and have a great relationship with my servers in Canton and Woodstock. I never went back to this restaurant. read more

The environment is very mellow, laid back and never out of anyone's dinning needs. The menu is full of know comfort foods that will keep your taste buds wanting more. Remember to invite friends to dine with you as you will want them to also share the same food experience and interaction. The menu while diluted down a bit ( because of COVID-19) it still offers excellent choices to select from. You cannot pick a wrong item, they are all delicious. On Fridays through Sunday their is live music that just might motivate you to dance the night away after dinning. Do your selves a favor join the staff at Local on North you won't be sorry. This place gets the ever elusive 5 stars. Hubs definitely hit the ball out of the park with this selection. When he said we were headed to Canton, I can't lie, I was a little nervous. I started racking my brain trying to think of what's up there. Now I know: Local on North. It's a super cute place with ample bar space and intimate tables. Rick ensured we were seated quickly, even though we were a little late. We had reservations and were glad we did. The place filled up quickly. Zach was our waiter and took excellent care of us. I started with a blood orange old fashioned that was a little sweet for my taste, but I drank it anyway, cause bourbon. We started with the bang bang shrimp and it was great. For dinner, I ordered the crab cakes and hubs ordered the pork. We both cleaned our plates! I am hard on crab cakes, and I give these 2 thumbs up. They were seasoned well and had very little filler - the only thing that would have taken them to the next level was lump meat. Now onto the pork. I asked for a little taste and went back for more twice. It melted in my mouth and the sauce was wonderful. I never order pork at a restaurant but will next time we go. The dessert selections were to die for but we were literally bursting at the seams. Maybe next time. We had quite a few things and enjoyed everything, but our favorites we're definitely the Fried Goat Cheese Croquette, the Made Right Onion Soup and the Fried Chocolate Cake! We generally love the food, service and atmosphere however there are a few menu items that could use some tweaking. The portioning of the goat cheese appetizer is barely enough to appreciate the flavor, and the onion soup was a little bland and may fair better with a more traditional presentation. read more

Although the food and servers are wonderful, the owner(s) and management fall very short. They appear to be more concerned with overcharging customers, yet fail to realize they are actually losing money. I was dining with a friend and we wanted a smaller meal and decided to share an entree which cost $26 on the menu. When we received the bill, we were charged a sharing fee, which was supposedly on the menu, but also charged a non disclosed double "up charge" for two offered subbed side items making the entree $39.50 On a different occasion, I ordered a cup of soup and a side of risotto. The waiter informed me that they would not serve me a side item and would only charge me for an entrée of the side item for $18. Who in their right mind pays $18 for a side of risotto? Not me! I politely declined and ate my cup of soup resulting in a bill of around six dollars. The restaurant lost out on a larger sale all because they wanted to charge me more money and did not appreciate the business I was bringing to their establishment. It's a restaurant with great food who loses money over the stupidity of management. read more

Our first visit: The fries, according to my family were the best they've ever had. That alone is worth 2 stars. The 3rd star was earned by the best margarita, says my picky mother in law. The 4th star was due to the dessert: we had the fried chocolate cake, cheese cake empanada, and banana bread pudding. All of which were delicious. I stopped at 4 stars because our server knew nothing about the menu. She wasn't new, she just had never eaten the food. It didn't matter if we were asking about drinks, desserts, or entrees the answer was the same: "i don't know" she later admitted that "I've never had it" and people "often tell her" that she needs to try the food. Apparently she never listens to her customers. How a person has worked at a restaurant for longer than 1 month and never tried the food is surprising. read more

Beautiful restaurant build out; beautifully full bar; private back patio; and beautiful live music on Friday & Saturday nights starting at 7:30 PM. Excellent mussels with garlic bread & hearty pizza ($18) were great! Excellent service. Tip: Back door remains unlocked for anyone parked in the big lot in the back. We've eaten here several times and have tried several different things on the menu, all of which I would say are decent. The fries are always fresh and hot, in fact almost everything we've had has been hot, but I find the food in general sounds more unique than it is. The food also comes out so fast that I have to suspect that much of it is premade and only heated up when ordered, You cannot cook and plate a burger with fries and garnishes in less than 5 minutes unless some tricks are used. Service has been decent and attentive, but the prices charged, especially for the size of the servings is a bit much. We tend to go more often at lunch, just to avoid the crowd in the evenings. We made reservations for six adults and two children on a Saturday evening; when we got to the restaurant, we had to wait at least 20 minutes before being seated and then they said they were seating us on the lower level. I was upset because it felt like the kids weren't really welcome. In the end, this was actually a blessing; the restaurant has live music on weekends, and that particular day they had a drummer. The restaurant has high ceilings and noice just reverberates around the dining room, but downstairs the music was muffled so conversation was possible. the I like supporting small business and I enjoy being able to support Cantons efforts to revitalize their downtown area with unique dining and shopping experiences. Local on North is fine and a departure from the ordinary, but not spectacular. read more

Waiting to order as I write this. Wasn't greeted at the door, had to ask for a menu at the bar since I figured I'd seat myself since the host couldn't be bothered. I'm hungry and irritated that I haven't been able to order food yet even though there seems to be 2 guys behind the bar and only 6 people sitting at the bar. I went for the first time today. We waited at the bar for our friends for dinner. The bartender was not friendly. Not even a half smile. We sat at the table after actively looking for someone to take us there. Two waters had a hair and the other with a particle floating in it. This has easily become my favorite restaurant. The food is heavenly especially the soups and the dinner specials. The atmosphere is very relaxing clean and has a great vibe from a restored rustic building. The service is top notch and very attentive. Especially one waiter, Jovahn. We ask for him when we come in. Once we were dining and were unaware that he was working and he made an effort to come by our table to say hello. He remembered that we are Green bay packer fans.
