Guess I am hard to please.... Went for dinner at 5 pm. It was dead ordered two orders Of shrimp tacos for dinner a couple waters and an order of the fried calamari's off the happy hour menu as an "appetizer" A few minutes later the tacos came out, told the runner to have the "appetizer" taken off the check. Thanks for saving me the money! Honestly the tacos were tasty but not special... was the best part of the experience. We also ordered a side salad, come to find out that there is an up charge of $2.00 per side salad. It would really be great if the server would have said "Just so you know..." We are and asked for the bill... bill comes and discover the up charge, sc tax, Horry county tax and facility fee. What is that you may ask. It is a fee they tack on after 4pm to cover the band and the facility. I still tipped 20% on the bill minus the taxes and facility fee and when I put the tip in the remote POS it showed my tip was 13%. Meaning they expect tips on taxable amount and the facility fee What the ambiance brings the service, the up charge and facility fee takes away. What they lost was the intent for us to stay and drinks and listen to the entertainment. We went to Murphy's for drinks. I won't be back. read more

We decided to check this place out because some friends recommended it and there was a good band playing that night. I really enjoyed the vibe of this place: the views out to the water and the huge outdoor seating area were amazing. We started our dining with a couple of appetizers: we got the bang bang shrimp, and the crab dip. Both were very good. For my entrée, I had the shrimp scampi. I would like to start by saying the location of the restaurant is amazing and the interior was very appealing. I liked that it had lovely options for seating both inside and outside. The menu had great options, however, I would have liked to see a couple of gluten free options. We had calamari, seafood pizza and brisket nachos for appetizers. The calamari was terrible and tasted like it was a mixture of fishes and possibly frozen. The other two were very good. We had burgers for our dinner and they were over cooked and had little taste-again maybe frozen. I would have to give the service a less than favorable review. The hostess (could have been the manager) let us stand for at least 5 minutes while giving directions to staff members; very unprofessional as the restaurant was not busy at all. The waitstaff was also not very attentive, although the bartender at the outside bar was great. All and all, I would not recommend as there are so many other great options in the area. read more

Brisket tacos 10/10 Brisket is super tender, it just melts apart in your mouth. Was worried about the sriracha being too spicy but you can barely taste it. Plenty of guac and a little sour cream too. Homemade chips Good chips!! Cod sandwich 10/10 Nice and light sandwich. Cooked well. Flaky and moist and a good thin breading. Coleslaw 10/10 Good flavor, very fresh. Caught a concert at Local On The Water a few weeks back - great outside venue for a (smallish) show. Get there early for the good seats / tables. Good music with room for people to dance. The food was Ok. The server(s) were nice enough, but they needed a *lot* more of them; they were overwhelmed. LotW needs to increase staffing on busy nights. read more

Things started out rough. We waited 30 minutes before being greeted at our table. And this was only because we called the waitress to the table. She went to every table (4 other tables in a circle around us). The manager was called and she was amazing. Sat and listened to our complaint. Then moved us to another section. This is a dog friendly restaurant, so we also had our fur baby with us. When we moved and received proper service, the experience was much better. The food was good and the live band really made the experience worth it. What started out as a poor review turned into a stellar experience. Giving this a 2. My wife and I went to Local on the Water and were seated quickly on a busy night. It took around 10 minutes for anybody to recognize us at the table - but the waitress had been there the whole time. She legit put her head down and walked past us several times before acknowledging us. Also - the facility charge that was added, while cheap, is a complete scam, and quite honestly should be illegal. The real bummer is that my dinner was really good. With food that good and a such a great atmosphere I would have given this a four - but the service has to step up and that fee is ridiculous. read more

Everything was terrific!! Cara took great care of us. Brisket nachos came out quick, garlic parm wings and Margarita flatbread was so good! She suggested extra balsamic on the side and I'm so glad, that little extra was awesome. The Local Classic burger was delish and the Cole slaw was *chefs kiss*. Can't recommend this place enough. Be advised - this place charges a three percent "facilities fee," to your bill. It is not a credit card fee it is a facilities fee. The server could not explain what the fee was for, except for the "luxury" of eating at this place. Things like this turn me away. The Local is by far NOT the only restaurant with a water view or music In Myrtle Beach. Food is nothing special. I'll go elsewhere. read more

Local on the Water is a great restaurant with great water views! We went on a busy Friday night (of Labor Day weekend) and had to wait a little less than an hour for a table, but were able to grab drinks from the bar and enjoy the water views. We were seated inside but the restaurant is open air so it still felt like we were outside. There was live music which is great but makes for a very loud environment, so maybe not the place if you want to have conversation with your meal. We split the brisket nachos as an appetizer and they were delicious, the brisket tender and flavorful and the queso so good. That was probably enough for the three of us, but we each also got something else! I got the hot honey chicken sandwich which was delicious. Others in my party got the bang bang shrimp and chicken avocado bacon sandwich, both with great reviews. Food was delicious, would return! read more

The wait staff is so nice and the location is great. Got two beers and ice tea! No music. Had to pay a 3percent facility fee. Not a credit card fee. You have to pay 3 percent for the view, atmosphere and amenities. Lots of waterfront restaurants do not charge. Market better just increase prices rather than pay a ridiculous fee! read more

Blamed it on the "kitchen bartender" being swamped. The bartender at the bar we were seated adjacent to would only serve those that seated at his bar. Once we found our table, we sat down, and our server greeted us right away. Her name was Jessica and she was very pleasant. We started with 3 waters, and my Mom and I had a titos with sprite. Bonded with her over getting carded because we look young, but am of age. Took a while to look over the menu, and they have mostly bar food, which is fine. They have lots of choices of sandwiches. Before long, we knew what we wanted: I ordered the Chicken avacado Bacon sandwich, Grilled, and with french fries. Both my mom and aunt decided on the brisket tacos with a salad. my mom ordered the pico on the side. The food came out and everything was correct. Jessica made sure to check on us constantly to make sure we were okay, and we were. i enjoyed my chicken sandwich- which was a little sloppy, but delicious! We all ate our food. We started off waiting a little while for our server but Tina showed up and our expierence was off and running. Tina seemed a little busy but she was super friendly and apologized for the wait (maybe 5 minutes) I have waited longer. We ordered some of their signature cocktails and they were good. The Orange Crush had the wrong ice but still well-made. My wife's Blueberry Pineapple Tequila Sour was great! Our appetizer reached our table in record time! Holy smokes, the crab dip with tortilla chips was hot and tasted amazing. Shortly after our entrees arrived and again, they were great. My wife had the Mahi Shrimp Luau was great. I never had butternut squash with grilled veggies but it was nice. I had the Mahi-Mahi tacos and boy were they perfect. I am not sure why this place only has 3 stars but it must be due to the outdoor seating in the summer. Our visit was low 80's and the sun was going down which made it even better.
