Pasta dishes and the salmon were excellent and the flower zucchini stuffed with cheese was superb. I think overall our $250 dinner for four was very enjoyable, the bar service was not so good. We ordered a tangueray and tonic with a lime and it came with a lemon. When I re-asked for a lime they said they did not have one. When I said I did not want the drink, the drink was removed and then the manger quickly came over to our table for four enjoying our appetizer and bottle of wine, and said loudly "what was the problem". I tried to quietly and politely explain the situation and he said he would take off 50% for the returned drink... not wanting to make more of a problem than the manger had already created, I said what ever you think is fair. Not the situation we were desiring at a top end restaurant in Pleasanton or expecting from this restuarnt. I was trying to be polite and the manger wanted something different. We have been going to Locanda Ravello in Danville for years and have loved it! We were SO excited that they were opening a new location on Main Street in Pleasanton (unfortunately right as we were in lockdown) but they've handled the pandemic like champs never sacrificing quality, customer service or Covid safety. Sat on patio tonight and had the best meal we've had in Pleasanton in YEARS- delicious, authentic and with a fantastic restaurant buzz while still feeling Covid safe. Food was outstanding and because it was so overdone for so long we generally don't order tiramisu- our waiter convinced us that it was genuinely homemade by Italian cooks - it was legit and tasted like Italy. They do a fast takeout business and have pickups by Uber Eats and Door Dashers which we've done since they opened but if you're feeling safe definitely stop by and enjoy an outstanding meal with table service! read more

We got lucky by finding this place! Coincedentally walking by and took a chance without reservations. Fortunately they were able to accomodate me and my family and we were seated quickly. Strike 1: We decided to order a bottle of wine and picked our selection. The waiter attempted to up-sell us to a more expensive bottle, which we did not appreciate. We chose not to order a bottle and instead ordered individual drinks. Strike 2: The pour in my wine glass was only slightly more volume that I would've gotten at a wine tasting. Incredibly stingy. I was angry. Strike 3: I ordered the ravioli di aragosta (Maine lobster & asparagus filled ravioli topped with tiger prawns in house pink sauce). Sauce was delicious, but the prawns were mushy. Food was amazing. But I did not like the service. We had our food and then at the time of payment, we paid for food but we do not pay tip unless i get extra ordinary service at any business. So i paid no tip and the shift lead came to our table and asked how was service. I said it was good. He asked us then why we did not pay tip. I told them we don't pay tips unless service is too too good. He started arguing and then bullied me in front of my family and friends and other customers. There was this one more guy who was also server who had nothing to do with the service and nothing to do with us, he was arguing with us as well. I would not go here again unfortunately. Even though the food was amazing but i did not like the way shift lead made me feel. Had lunch here recently with a friend. We shared an order of the Fritto Misto and we both had the Strozzapreti - they were ok, but there was no "wow" factor in either dish. We did experience some food envy when we saw some pizzas go by as well as an order of the pasta bolognese - both of which looked better than what we had ordered. The staff is friendly and our waitress, who is from Modena, Italy was pleasant, attentive and knew the menu and helped us with our entree choices. For the appetizer we ordered the squash blossom, which was a special. The batter was way too thick. Couldn't taste the blossom. Just the melted mozzarella, which wasn't seasoned properly. I chose this spot for our early Valentines dinner based on the menu, which had several items that sounded delicious. We made a reservation ahead of time, which I'd recommend due to the small sized restaurant inside. (They do have outside dining). We were greeted and seated right away. They had Valentines decorations throughout the restaurant, which was a nice touch. Although the restaurant doesn't have the most comfortable chairs and they do have tables pretty close together, the ambience was still nice for Valentine's Day and there was nice music and soft lighting so it wasn't bright lights throughout. Our waiter was attentive and recommended dinner plates that were popular, and when I couldn't decide on my entrée, he suggested the one that was a favorite among diners, and it did not disappoint. There was too many items to decide on that sounded so good for appetizers. I chose the polenta trio with the different sauces, and though it was good, I wasn't overly enthusiastic about the sauces that were paired with It. My husband ordered the Caesar salad and he enjoyed that. For our dinner entrées, he had the squid ink linguine with clams and I ordered the homemade gnocchi with truffle sauce, which was amazing - so fresh and yummy. For dessert, I had heard that the lemoncillo was delicious and I confirmed that with our waiter. Even though I don't typically order lemon desserts, it was very good. My husband had the chocolate cake with vanilla gelato, and though it was very rich, he ate every delectable bite. At the end of our meal, our waiter gave us complementary dessert shots. I cannot say all that was in them, but it tasted a little like caramel, so it wasn't bad and a nice way to end the meal. We will definitely be back. I really wanted to like this place after seeing all the good reviews. We had a reservation for 7:45pm on a Friday evening. They were clearly very busy and behind schedule but we weren't seated until 8:30pm. The hostess was super kind and was working hard but still a long wait for a reservation. We sat down and it took about 5 minutes to be greeted. He told us the specials and took our drink orders. Then we didn't see him for another 30 minutes. Yes, busy night and a ton of tables but 30 minutes from sitting to placing an order. 30 minutes later our food comes out. The food was good -- my husband got the pizza and I did the pasta carbonara. Both were yummy. However at this point is is 10-1030pm and after closing the tab, we left at 11pm. From a 7:45pm reservation. Flash forward another 30 minutes, I'm home- in the bathroom- with awful food poisoning. All in all, disappointing. We had a seasonal salad, Caesar salad, filet mignon and Italian Riviera squid ink pasta. The salads were good but a little over-dressed and some of my leaves were wilted. Steak was also good and the pasta was tasty. There was a lot of shell in the clams and the shrimp was a bit over cooked. All in all a good experience though. read more

I don't get it. We have a great meal then a not even good meal. Just not consistent. The Caesar was decent, but way smaller than usual. The beet salad was fine, but small. The grilled octopus was slimy, smelly and there was no chimichurri. Tossed it. Papperdelle w Bolognese was ok, but cold. Fritto misto was ok, but the prawns were very overcooked and fishy. Have ordered takeout from here on numerous occasions during Covid lockdown and the pizza and salad is always fresh and ready right when I arrive. Now that Covid restrictions have relaxed a bit I decided to enjoy lunch outside this weekend. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly. My boyfriend ordered the margarita pizza and I ordered the beat salad with burrata cheese on it. First off their pizza is always delicious with lots of flavor and the salad had a nice light lemon vinaigrette on it which wonderfully balances out the creamy cheese and beats. My cocktail was gorgeous and refreshing! Everything you would want in a cocktail. I had the A-malfi cocktail which has blood orange in it. Will definitely be returning! read more

Today we ate at Locanda Amalfi, downtown Pleasanton for the first time..very disappointed in food and service. Our server did not seem to care that our food was wrong and not up to par. I just discovered my new favorite pizza place. So far I have tried their Margherita, pepperoni, meat lovers, and L'oro Di Napoli (deep fried stuffed) pizza. They were all excellent but my favorites are Margherita and Napoli. What makes their pizza so special is the doe/crust. Probably one of the most chewy/gluttonous crust I have had since last time I visited small Italian place in Spain. Amalfi's other dishes are also good not like their pizza. Review based on our first visit, a weekend lunch. Pros: - Overall the food was pretty good. We each had a Caesar salad, then an order of meatballs for me and a special of battered fried zucchini blossoms stuffed with cheese for the wife. The salads were pretty tasty overall (but see Cons below), the meatballs were good (but my wife makes better) and the wife liked her fried zucchini blossoms. The complementary bread seemed house-made and was very tasty with the oil and balsamic dip. - Service was fairly attentive, but food took a while to come out and I had to ask about the delay. Cons: - The Caesar salads, while flavorful, were over-dressed. They also would have benefited from some anchovy fillets. - They re-purpose their bread for both the croutons in the salad, as well as the crostini with the meatballs... and it did not work. The bread is good on it's own eaten fresh, but it is a dense bread and it made for tough, chewy croutons, and nearly inedible crostini. Or maybe they were just really stale, I'm not sure. But crostini should be crunchy and light; these were hockey puck slices and detracted from the otherwise decent meatballs. - Poor value. Wife ordered a Diet Coke and we were charged $4.50 for an tiny 8-ounce bottle, with no refills! Insane. We ended up spending nearly $80 after tip for a small, simple lunch; not worth the high price. Verdict: - On the fence if we'll return. The food was OK (the pizzas we saw others eating did look good), but a few food issues combined with poor value may keep us away in the future. Really a tremendous restaurant. I spoke with the owner several times and he was so kind and gracious towards me. His staff was excellent, especially the waitress from Italy, what an amazing woman. I went two days in a row to get some authentic cannolis but they were out both days. The food was very good, though I personally would have prefered a little bit more on the plate. The first time I ordered the Raviolis Caprese and the second time Pappardelle Bolognese. Both were very good, though I thought the marina sauce on the raviolis was exceptional. The highlight of my visit, besides the waitress, was the Amalfi Spritzer. What an incredible cocktail! Easily my favorite drink of any restaurant I've ever been to. It's a very interesting combination of flavors and boy did it make me tipsy. I hope this restaurant has many years of success in their future. read more

My family had dinner there last Friday evening. We put our name in for a 30 minute wait and ended up waiting 1 hour and 10 min. We were starving by the time we sat down but really looking forward to a wonderful dinner. The food was amazing but the "Server" was horrible and rude. This guy was so rude and abrupt while he was taking our order. He never said good evening, sorry for the wait, how are you doing tonight ... nothing! He had no manners and ... never checked on us after our food was delivered by another person. The owners need to train their staff better or make sure each waiter is welcoming their guests properly.
