Huge move from San Jose, CA to Daytona Beach, Fl. Coast to coast…read more I feel I dodged a bullet with many moving brokers trying to secure a contract through a hard sell and promise of *literally* unbelievable rate quotes. Doing further research I found there's a common and growing scam to quote low, then hold your stuff hostage until you pay surprise extra and extreme charges. Anyway, I went with U-Pack after researching the various container drop-off and load options. Contract terms were straightforward and no surprises on drop off. Both the start and end, U-Pack and their shipment team were super easy going with the schedule. Just call a day before drop-off/pick-up and they were able to make it happen. I had 3 cubes and two went to destination and the 3rd was stored by U-pack for a bit while I secured a longer term storage unit, and they dropped it off there. Make no mistake, packing and loading the cubes is a huge freakin' task. Do it in layers with large flat items working as "walls" to help hold stuff in. And ratchet strap each layer. A special call out to JW, the forklift operator in San Jose! He was one with that machine and able to maneuver with extreme skill and precision, including a very narrow and long driveway with tight gate and cypress tree. He's a magic man and was able to place the cubes perfectly between sidewalk and street and back yard driveway - saving me $ and headache dealing with the San Jose tax assessor regarding a permit if cubes block street parking and/or sidewalk. Other thanks to Skee (Ski?) at the drop in Florida. Also skilled w/ the lift and super accommodating on placing the cubes where I wanted. Finally, Gerry (Jerry?) and Lorenzo at dispatch. You'll be given a pretty huge window (like the whole day) for drop-off/pickup, but I'd give a call and they'd be able to narrow that window to a couple hours.

Pros: cheap. Cons:…read moreyou get what you pay for. Confessions: I'm not paying the bill personally, but by virtue of being associated with a local group that stores stuff here [in a crazy small 4x4 space, anyway], I find myself there more than I'd care to share. That said... note the gate hours of 7am-7pm; I realize a lot of places have 'em, so can't ding them for it, just a drag... after commuting to the office and back, odds of hitting a 7pm is slim on weekdays. But merely noted to note it. Back to the story... __________ Trip 1. On our first trip there, we got a prize of an extra lock. (We're in a "sub" unit, so one master for the outer space, the other for the individual inner door). Went to leave, and the key wouldn't come out of the lock. Really, like... really? I ate my Wheaties today, and couldn't get the dang thing out. Hit it with WD-40 and liquid wrench (since I'm a boy who has this stuff sitting around the car); no luck, but the key did turn better. Being the concerned tenant, we went to the office. No one home. Called the posted number, went to voicemail. Called the emergency number -- though I wouldn't consider an unlocked outer door an emergency by any stretch -- and also voicemail. Left messages. No callback. Slept well knowing we did what we could to notify someone. __________ Trip 2. Went by the office the next day to speak to someone in the office. No one home, just a troubling "We'll be back at..." sign in the window. Um, okay -- but rest assured, our day isn't going to be rescheduled around the office staff's errands. __________ Trip 3. This after the office woman called the account contact with all sorts of claims of lock theft and such rubbish, but did call back to apologize (apparently she realized she was being a bit harsh). Make a 2pm appointment to come by with the lock (note appointment is during business hours... she had grocery shopping to do). Stopped into the office, she looked at the lock and said it wasn't their key -- which are round -- and if we had to have keys made, we should have used the local locksmith (Security Locksmith, nice folks by the by). Apparently the stamped lettering in the key "Sec... Locksmith" wasn't a clue for the non-FBI types to identify. We left with the lock, still stuck with a key in it, as we were told it was our problem to deal with, since our choice of keys ruined the lock. __________ Trip to Security Locksmith. Nice guys (as noted), yup, that's our key, and they removed it. Oh, and the problem? One of the pins went out in the lock, so factory key or their professionally duplicated key would have gotten stuck equally well. The lock has since been returned to the office -- once we found a moment it was convenient for them to be in the office -- to deal with their defective lock. __________ Would I go there to store stuff? Nope. Any marginal cost savings are negated by the hassle if/when things go sideways. __________ Customer service review. See "Cons", "Trip 1," "Trip 2," and "Trip 3"

Kristin helped me get my life back…read more I have a nice house, but it was such a disorganized mess that it was making me miserable. I had tried to get organized, but all the organizing "stuff" I bought, as well all my other stuff, only added to the clutter. I'm good at a lot of things, but organizing a home is not one of them, and I literally did not know what to do. So I turned to the Internet. I looked here on Yelp. Kristin has great reviews, so I called her. She came over on a Saturday and spend the day restoring order to my home. I was so discouraged with my house that I just hid in my bedroom while Kristin did her magic. When I came out, it was like a weight been lifted off my shoulders, the sunshine through the clouds. LOL. Kristin took away all the Amazon boxes that had been piling up. She set up systems so that I could do things efficiently and logically--a place to put incoming mail, a place to put groceries, everything for making tea and coffee put together in the same location, etc. I have a lot of hobbies, and little bits and pieces of them were scattered all over the house. Kristin managed to gather, sort and organize all of them. Amazing. I was a little hesitant to hire an organizer because I was afraid I wouldn't be able to find my things if somebody moved them. That ended up not being an issue at all, just the opposite. Now, if I want to find something and I don't know where it is, all I have to do is say, "Well, where is the logical place for it?" And there it is. Much better than my old method of trying to remember, searching the house, and then going out and buying a duplicate because I couldn't find what I needed. The best thing is now that my place is organized, I feel much more motivated and capable of keeping it this way on my own. I feel more serene now, and, my life is just, well, better. LOL. Highly recommended.
