Great seafood market I've heard about for years just never found them until Thursday. Picked up some cod, which I couldn't find at Publix or at sprouts and then made a decision to buy some grouper cheeks. Everything was great grouper cheeks spectacular. Update. I recently (July 2025) bought a dozen mixed med and large blue crabs and each one was filled with sweet succulent crab meat. Buy them before the weekend or they'll probably be all sold out. read more

This shop used to be called Holiday Seafood, and while the name has changed, the quality is as good as before. This is always our first choice whenever we want fresh seafood, for they sell their daily fresh catches. Which means that supply is limited and, unlike a supermarket, you can't go in excepting all varieties to be available. In fact, you need to go early for the best selection, because once it's out, it's out. You can go next door to Rusty Bellies, which has a bigger selection, but we aren't the only folks who prefer this as our first choice, and there's a reason for it. We usually get the shrimp and grouper from this place. If you haven't tried grouper cheeks, get some and pan fry them in some garlic butter. It's half the price of grouper fillet but equally delicious, with a firmer texture. And oh, don't forget to pick up some smoked fish spread while you're there!! read more

I've been going to Lockhart's Seafood for the past 5 years-you cannot get any fresher fish-literally right off the boat in their backyard. They are super friendly, will cut any size fish you want, never rush you and are extremely helpful in getting exactly want you want. I've never had any issue with any purchase, and if you are a stone crab fanatic, this is the place to go. They are slightly past Rusty Bellies and have ample parking. Do yourself a huge favor next time you want fresh fish-go to Lockhart's-be aware of their hours, for example, they close on Tuesday at 2:00. read more

Lockhart's has owned this seafood market for a little over two years, but a seafood market had stood in this spot for approximately 22 years. It definitely has a following! This is not a large market (see interior pic), but it has a variety of fresh seafood offerings, standard pricing, & it offers excellent service. (Brent was really good.) Currently, due to Covid fears, only one customer may enter the market @ a time. There's a helpful marquee beside the front door; it lists all the latest fresh catches. Family-owned & operated Lockhart's has its own dock and boats, w/ most of the seafood self-supplied. (Salmon & one or two other seafood selections are shipped in from outside areas, but whenever quality local seafood is available, it's what you'll find here.) The only fish that was previously frozen is Cod. Along w/ different fishes, there was shrimp, clams, stone crab, & a fish spread available today. (The sushi-grade tuna looked divine!) I didn't see lobsters, snow crab, blue crab, conch, crayfish, octopus & oysters, but I know they are sold here whenever possible. There's also a wall freezer that is filled w/ seafood items such as chowders, etc (see pic) & shelves w/ a small offering of sauces & seasonings, etc. Brent answered questions thoroughly, explained the business, offered to let me buy just half of the Little Neck clams, & asked if I wanted ice to keep my fish & clams cold on the trip home. The Grouper Cheeks @ $11.99 lb were so fresh-- just excellent pieces. (If you've never eaten cheeks, you're missing out!) I paid $15.99 for 50 Littlenecks, which were delicious, & the sweet Red Grouper @ $20.99 lb was a great catch. (No pun intended:) Lockhart's ships its seafood. Wholesale options are available. Now that City Girl Seafood in Hudson is closed, this will most likely be my GO TO place whenever I'm craving fresh seafood or am having company. I read the reviews on Google and Yelp and I wanted to give this place a try. After spending $$$$ at Wards in Clearwater and having poor quality I was in need of a quality fish market. I wasn't disappointed. I got live blue crabs and extra large shrimp. When I cooked and tasted the crabs it was the freshest, sweetest I've tasted in a very long time. Looking forward to tasting the shrimp. This is my new go to. The Owner was Uber nice. I recommend highly. Understand they have what they catch for the day and what's in season. We went in just for fresh Tuna but ended up leaving with so much more because everything looked AMAZING!! Not only did the Tuna look fantastic, but we also went with Lobster tail, sword fish, shrimp, and Mr. Bills amazing Gumbo!!!! Will 100% be back before the weekend is over!! I agree that there aren't many activities going on in North Pinellas County compare to other areas of Tampa Bay. However Its less commercial environment allows small businesses to thrive. That is something I really like about our North Pinellas County. There are no short of characters. Holiday Seafood and its owner Bill is one among many ones. Bill frequently gives discount on fresh shrimps during weekends. I went there yesterday and bought two pound of fresh shrimp (heads-on) for 7.99 a pound. I am a personal chef in the area and the folks at holiday seafood do not know this. I have recently started to use them as I have found them to be the freshest around. I have tried many places all around the Tampa Bay Area and none compare to the freshness I have found here. They are very friendly and knowledgeable about their product and carry a variety of fish which my clients have remarked about how good the fish tasted compared to what they bought before I started cooking for them. I used to go to the other fresh fish markets on the sponge docks and all though they are all good - Holiday Seafood is as fresh as it can get other than catching and filleting it yourself. They cut the filet's fresh off the whole fish, grouper, red snapper, whole salmon filet's and the fresh Ahi Tuna cut right off the whole loin...
