We've been a couple of times. Never great, but it had potential so we went back. Unfortunately each time was disappointing than the last. This last visit, there were 4 of us. We ordered 2 fried shrimp dishes and 2 crab cake sandwiches. The 2 sandwiches came out about 10 minutes before the shrimp dishes (the restaurant was not busy at this time). On one of the shrimp dishes we substituted spinach for the cole slaw. The shrimp came out without spinach and without the fries. The fries and spinach eventually came out, separately, about 5 minutes apart. The crab cake sandwiches were not worth the $14 price. The crab cake was so thin and small it didn't even form a patty. The bun was oversized so it made the crab cake look even more ridiculous. Aside from the size, the crab cake was rather bland. We basically ate a lettuce sandwich - for $14. Overall, based on several experiences, we will not return. read more

This is actually my third time here, and I'm not sure if there's a new owner or what changed but it got a million times better than a few years ago. I will start by saying that I am a server myself, and the service here is bad (can you give 0 stars?) I have been here twice and both times the bartenders have been rude (besides there is one bartender who is blonde I don't know her name but she is very nice). As for drinks goes, they have some good crushes but the wait time for food and drinks is not usually worth it, and we came before on a day at a time where they weren't even busy. As for the busy hours, they are not attentive and expect everyone to leave right at closing times. Overall it's a cool atmosphere with games to play outside by the water, but not worth it for the overpriced food/drinks and poor customer service. read more

We read all the reviews, so we were apprehensive about going. We did have a Groupon so we went. Everything was very good. We had the sesame crusted tuna and the Mahi both with Parmesan risotto and asparagus. We started w/ a side salad. The salad was cold and very good. We especially enjoyed the pickled cucumbers and onions. They were also on the tuna. The server, Kaya was attentive and very friendly. We even talked about our dogs and Halloween dog costumes. The only things needed were more seasoning for the Mahi, cracked pepper for the salad and entrees and for the server to introduce herself when she first came to the table. Lockside bar and grill is an all around awesome restaurant. Let me start with the brunch. I have brunch there every Sunday and sometimes Saturday morning. The owner Dustin Hughes is there to greet us with a smile and offer the best bloody Mary's around for just $2.00! My favorite breakfast dish is the stuffed French toast with strawberry sauce and bananas! Lockside offers a great lunch and dinner menu with daily specials as well. The shrimp tempura with the orange horseradish sauce just melts in your mouth. The waitresses there are very friendly and welcoming. Lockside also offers a variety of entertainment like music from local bands and singers as well as comedy nights. The bartender Kelly is always mixing up new drink specials to try. From breakfast to late night. You can't go wrong with Lockside bar and grill! read more

I went with my husband to eat dinner on a Monday night. We were told they were on a 30 wait which they weren't but whatever we waited at the outdoor back in the back. They were a little understaffed so not at complete capacity but capacity for the staff they currently have. They have now hiring posts everywhere around the restaurant. At the patio bar they had a couple of TVs and we got some drinks. He got a Mai Tai and I got a coke he told me he liked the Mai Tai. The bartender was very sweet but was definitely dealing with the lack of staff and she kept running out of clean glasses, menus and other things. The patio itself looks great they have many outdoor games and it's facing the Chesapeake which is nice. They have high top tables and some booths that looks like little swings super cute! We got sat to our table pretty quickly once we started drinking at the bar maybe a 15 mins wait instead of 30. Once we sat our server was very nice but a little busy. We ordered and our food took forever to come out maybe over 20 mins and once it did we go our entree before our appetizers. We got oysters rocks for apps and crab cake and jambalaya for entrees. My husband got the jambalaya which was super watery and lacked flavor. He had to season it a bit to make it tastier. The crab cakes were good I substituted the broccoli for a Caesar salads and it was tasty but definitely had store brought croutons and dressing. The Rockefeller's were just okay my husband thought they tasted weird. The oysters were stuck onto the shell so it was a little difficult getting them out and there was more spinach than oyster. I thought they were just okay. Our server got them taken off our bill because they came after our entree which was nice of her. She stated the manager took them off but we never got a word from said manager. My husband also got a margarita which was really water down and not great. We closed out after eating and had leftovers. The patio was a little humid after a while and they do not have TVs in the dining areas just in the bar area. Overall it was a decent dining experience we will go back especially now learning that they allow dogs. read more

Bloody Mary here is perfection. You also can't beat their breakfast special for quality or price. Sandwiches and salads are very good, and service is friendly and personable. We prefer breakfast and lunch to dinner here but had perfectly fine meals at Lockside for dinner the one time we came in later in the day. Neat atmosphere neat location and absolutely zero organization whatsoever in this establishment. You can order one thing one time and the next time you come in they may or may not make it for you just depends on the "chefs" mood. Sadly this has been the theme more than once thought that there is no way that this is possible however after the second time of this trend I now see it is true. I would recommend this place to anyone willing to have a meal that is chef choice ONLY without ANY variation then this is truly your spot. Just moved to the area & decided to try since it was conveniently located. Went for Sunday brunch the first time. I got the strawberry banana stuffed waffles which was unbelievably great! Tried the special$ mimosa & it was yummy! Two others had the shrimp PO boy & they could not stop raving that it was the best fried shrimp they ever had. Love the deck & staff is nice. Best place in Great Bridge! Brunch on Sundays every Sunday. They make the best bloody Mary's in town. Servings are large, prices are fair, food is fabulous. Hubby always gets the American. Will not return. I had to ask the hostess to send a waitress after waiting for 10-15 minutes. My risotto came out crunchy and about half of the mussels I was served were unopened. The waitress that came and the afternoon view were nice, and that is the only reason it is more than 1 star. read more

Food is extremely delightful... I had the roasted chicken and the only complaint was the portion, I could of gotten a little more food for the price. Everything else was good. My husband had the French Quarter pasta which he said was very good but a small portion. I had one of the specials of shrimp stuffed with lump crab meat. It was deep fried with very bland tempura. Presentation was pretty with broccoli over mashed potatoes in the middle. The broccoli was over cooked and had a sweet taste to it from the glaze on the shrimp. Mashed potatoes were a big blob with terrible consistency and too much garlic. Wouldn't recommend the dish. Ordered the Orange Crush to drink which had very little alcohol. My new favorite local spot. Good food, good service, friendly and welcoming staff. I got the salmon with sautéed spinach and Parmesan Rissoto. Husband had the Ahi Tuna Special (with polenta mash, feta cheese, YUM!!!) it all was amazing!!! The dessert was just as amazing!! Key lime pie and strawberry short cake: WOW!!!!!! The only downside is the decor, maybe hang more "nautical" items and somehow take away from the kitchen being the "focal point". Maybe dim the lights a little and possibly paint the ceiling black... We just left and headed to another restaurant! When an elderly guest arrives and asks to sit in a booth, the hostess needs to do a better job of accommodating their seating preferences. When you have an open booth, yet inform the customer there is no booth available, there is a problem. read more

Upon entering the restaurant we were quite surprised at how nice it looked. We remember what the previous restaurant looked like and had expected more of a bar atmosphere. It was nice and quiet so we could have a good conversation with friends we were meeting there. My wife had the jambalaya and, since it was made to order, they did not add the shrimp at her request. I had the special, lasagna, and it was quite good. The portions were a nice size. I had the least expensive wine on the menu and it was good enough for a second glass. The server would walk by and check out our needs but not interrupt the conversation or be intrusive. On the way home we ask for typical restaurant question, "go back"? The answer is yes. read more

Lockside is one of my favorite places to go for brunch! The hometown atmosphere makes you feel like a local even if you're new to the area. Warm and welcoming decor and atmosphere. Great menu selections with daily specials. I met a friend for lunch and had the Mediterranean flatbread, which was perfectly sized and a great combination of ingredients. My friend had the crab and corn chowder, which was excellent - loaded with crab! Service was on point - friendly, attentive, and quick without making us feel rushed. We had no problem with the wait staff but the food leaves a LOT to be desired especially at these prices. We had Shrimp Scampi with NO garlic or butter and Stuffed Flounder with no stuffing and a watery crab cake on the side! We made no special request so this is how it naturally comes. We are always looking for new restaurants to try in Chesapeake. Tonight as we drove down Battlefield and saw the bridge was up, we decided that now would be the time to try Lockside. It wasn't very crowded as we pulled up at around 7pm on a Friday night, so I wasn't sure what to expect. It has a very warm atmosphere and a friendly staff. The food that was coming out of the kitchen looked delicious. The waitress recommended the French Quarter, and it was very good. Then we tried the bread pudding, which was the best I have ever had... very filling, too. The food is a tad expensive, BUT it is DELICIOUS, and the service is great. The owner came over and asked us how our meal was, which was very nice. We definitely will be back. Give it a shot... you won't be disappointed. read more
