Decided to have my daughter's 30th birthday celebration in the party room at Lockside. It was easy to book and I even called the morning of to make sure all was still a go. I asked if I should order the appetizers in advance and was told no. I specifically said I was ordering about 5 plates of nachos to have scattered on tables and they said it was fine. We get there, the large doors were up and it was about 85-90 degrees outside. There were no fans or anything. The cake began melting and I had to have them put it in their refrigerator. Come to find out when I ordered, they had NO nachos. How does that happen? It was the first Sunday of football season too. They were not crowded at all so it wasn't like they were short on food. I ordered other appetizers to place around. The flies started literally swarming the food and it became so gross. We asked as well as other patrons if the doors could be closed and the AC on..Nope. Also the mens bathroom door was broken and could not be used. It was so disappointing. I emailed the management directly hoping to prevent something like this from happening to someone else. They didn't even have the decency to respond. Please find another establishment for any larger party get together. read more

A bit overpriced for what it is. $100 for a dinner salad, mediocre shrimp tacos and a Cuban sandwich. The dining room and atmosphere was nice, clean and comfortable. My best friend enjoyed her chicken Caesar salad. The shrimp tacos were bland and boring. As for the chips and salsa served with the tacos, the salad was clearly house made but very garlicky. The chips were overdone, browned and tough. Our other guest said the Cuban sandwich was just OK, nothing special. In summary, a very expensive late-lunch with little effect. read more

We were excited to go to our first real sit-down restaurant meal after sheltering in place for over two months. The outdoor seating on the water was lovely so they get A+ for atmosphere. We decided to splurge on "real" entrees instead of burgers or sandwiches (scallops for me and steak & shrimp for hubby). The food was OK but overpriced. For those prices, a basket of bread or rolls or a small side salad would have been nice. Our bill for two so-so entrees, two ice teas, and tip was $75.00. Best kept secret in Great Bridge. It is never crowded and the menu is amazing. The crab stuffed fried avocado salad keeps me coming back and the happy hour specials are great, even though they end early. The cooks were eating in the window within our view and the waitress was touching food to make sure it was still warm after sitting in the window for awhile despite there only being 8 patrons in the whole place. Came here with the family. My food was good. Blackened avocado tacos. Someone with us got the ribeye and had to return it because it was way overdone and the red potatoes were still raw. The waitress was great about it. New steak came out and it smelled like the steak was rancid. Really bad taste and smell to where we couldn't even eat it. Waitress we had was amazing though. I would not recommend a steak from here. So bad to where I'm giving this 2 stars, even though my food was good. read more

My favorite place to stop when in town for a nice brunch, apps and a glass of wine. Very reasonably priced and staff is above average. I enjoy sitting in the bar area and swapping stories with the locals. I have attended several of the Lockside comedy nights and live music on the weekend is a nice touch. Don't stop here. Great location, waterfront views, every reason to be successful except, owner must be resting on their history. Dark interior zero wait staff. Front of the can't even tell you if seating is available when the place is obviously empty. Ask for outside seating and after much back and forth with another employee hostess walked up part 20 tables of covered seating to place us in the only uncovered table with sun shining directly in our face. We waited more than 10 minutes and no one ever came to our table. We decided to leave and upon exiting asked what had happened. We were told the waitress was new and unsure of what tables were her responsibility and that the hostess is not allowed to leave her post to let the waitress know there is someone in their section. Poor plan! When we asked how to reach the manager the staff knew her name but not the phone number to the restaurant. It's a holiday weekend, it should have been all hands on deck but obviously the Owner/Manager has a different view of work life balance. Went to watch a band on New Years Eve. We walked in at 7 and asked for a party of 2. The hostess was extremely snotty asking if we had reservations. I said " no" and she explained they were full, meanwhile only 3 out of 10 tables were taken. She told us to go outside, where their was no one and no servers even present. My family came in tonight as a party of 15. For the most part I was happy with the service, as our server was nice and the other servers that were helping out did a good job of keeping our drinks filled. My dad had the steamed oysters, which he said were overcooked, but otherwise average. He absolutely raved about the homemade cocktail sauce though! He also said that his shrimp risotto was very good. I had the nachos with pulled pork which somehow was the last dish to arrive, much after the majority of my family had received their meals. It was a huge portion. I suppose due to personal preference, I was disappointed to see that the cheddar jack cheese was liquid, like "cheese whiz" as opposed to melted shredded cheese. I felt as though that kind of cheese is the kind you get on cheap stadium nachos, but to each their own I guess. The pulled pork that was on it had a great flavor, I wished I could have had that by itself at this point. This was my second visit to Lockside, and most likely my last. The first visit was about a month ago. I was looking forward to another great meal, and unfortunately left very disappointed. When we entered, the restaurant appeared to be empty, but upon further inspection all the patrons were seated along the wall leaving a sea of empty tables and chairs between you and the only server in the restaurant. A bartender, who was too busy making shots for her bar guests and fluffing her hair and scarf to notice the other diners in the restaurant. When she made her way to the table, she was pleasant, and quick to take our drink order(two waters) Our server returned with our drinks and we placed our order. My boyfriend and I decided on a few appetizers, rather than two large entrees. . . . The Nachos, we added chicken for an additional charge of $4. Meatballs-Two to an order and about the size of baseballs. Crab dip Spinach Salad with Bleu Cheese dressing. Let me start with the crab dip. The dip had a very strange taste, it was mixed with spinach and topped with melted cheese(YOU DONT MIX SEAFOOD AND CHEESE!) The crab wasn't fresh, it had a heavy fishy taste and left much to be desired. The crispy pita points were good, but I wish I had something better to dip them in. It hurts me to say a pile of chips was my favorite part of dinner. They were good, but it's kinda hard to mess up nachos(but for $15, it's was a pile of chips, very little chicken, a nice cheese sauce, some sliced olives, jalapeños, and pico de gallo) The meatballs and marinara were topped with melted cheese and neither much flavor, and being they were huge, tells me they were not cooked fresh. (Our food arrived in less than 10 minutes) they were obviously precooked and reheated to order, or left in a pot of sauce to keep warm(not hot, just warm). I ordered the Spinach Salad with Bleu cheese and I was really looking forward to a great salad! It was topped with sliced red onions, marinated Mushrooms, roasted tomatoes, bacon, almonds and a Bleu cheese dressing. The salad was good, but I was disappointed when I didn't find a single piece of blue cheese on my salad or in the dressing. I expected some fresh Bleu cheese, especially on a $10 salad. After we finished our very lack luster dinner, I had to navigate my way thru the sea of EMPTY tables to the bar to ask for our bill!! The server obviously didn't sea our stack of plates at the end of the table. After the poor experience, I'd rather spend $50 elsewhere. read more

My wife and I stopped in yesterday afternoon for a drink and an appetizer. She had a Miller Lite bottle and I had two El Guapo drafts. We shared the Cuban eggroll appetizer. It was very good, we've never had anything like that! We sat out on the deck looking over the water, it was a very nice venue. Our waitress "Emmy" was on the ball and very friendly. Wife and I returned on the Fourth of July, here's a break down of my rating: Ambiance: 5 sat outside on deck beautiful. Server: 5 lucky to again have Emme as our server just awesome! Food: 1 wife ordered Lockside eggs benedicts poached eggs were as hard as our table top. I ordered regular eggs benedicts my poached eggs were just as hard as my wife's and my hash browns were extra extra crispy. Must have been a bad day in the kitchen. Wife and I stopped in for breakfast this morning. It was a nice morning and we asked to be seated on the deck. Great choice! Nice relaxing view of the water. Our waitress "Emme" short for Emerson was fantastic! Not only was she very attractive she had a great personality. Didn't hurt that she was also beautiful! We ordered a regular mimosa and a large and the wife ordered the Cali Benedicts and I ordered just regular Egg Benedicts. Both were great, the eggs were perfectly poached. Tried out a new place based on family recommendation and we like to support local businesses. We were seated very quickly and our waitress arrived soon after. The service was great - refilled our drinks, appetizers arrived quickly, we didn't feel rushed or interrupted - great combination of attentiveness and timeliness. We had fish tacos and a mahi special. Both entrees were good, but nothing spectacular. The fish tacos came medium - asked to send them back to have them cooked well done. And This is why they get 2 stars.....the kitchen is semi-open, so we could hear the remarks coming from the cook staff. There was some foul language, but in particular there were remarks about having our food sent back. This made things kinda uncomfortable. We didn't complain - it was quite obvious to our waitress and to the bartender these remarks were making others uncomfortable, so if they chose to ignore it, so be it. Staff and restaurant are nice. Food was not bad. We had the steak and mahi. Entrees could have had more flavor as we thought it was a bit bland. The rice served with the entrees were really disappointing. It was somewhat soggy and tasted nothing different than from the rice you would boil at home. However, the appetizer- Thai shrimp, I think it was, was very good. The presentation was very nice also. The servers were nice, but could've been more enthusiastic. They didn't seem very happy to be working there. The prices for the food were a little pricey as well. We've been a couple of times. Never great, but it had potential so we went back. Unfortunately each time was disappointing than the last. This last visit, there were 4 of us. We ordered 2 fried shrimp dishes and 2 crab cake sandwiches. The 2 sandwiches came out about 10 minutes before the shrimp dishes (the restaurant was not busy at this time). On one of the shrimp dishes we substituted spinach for the cole slaw. The shrimp came out without spinach and without the fries. The fries and spinach eventually came out, separately, about 5 minutes apart. The crab cake sandwiches were not worth the $14 price. The crab cake was so thin and small it didn't even form a patty. The bun was oversized so it made the crab cake look even more ridiculous. Aside from the size, the crab cake was rather bland. We basically ate a lettuce sandwich - for $14. Overall, based on several experiences, we will not return. read more

Me, my wife and 5 friends stopped in for dinner after an afternoon at Big Ugly Brewery. The atmosphere was very elegant without that uptight stuffy feel. The menu was quite surprising, with burgers, small plates, and sandwiches vice high priced food items that you would expect to match the elegant decor. On the special menu was black tip shark, over risotto and it was very good(my first time eating shark). The staff was very pleasant and the prices were reasonable. read more

I will start by saying that I am a server myself, and the service here is bad (can you give 0 stars?) I have been here twice and both times the bartenders have been rude (besides there is one bartender who is blonde I don't know her name but she is very nice). As for drinks goes, they have some good crushes but the wait time for food and drinks is not usually worth it, and we came before on a day at a time where they weren't even busy. As for the busy hours, they are not attentive and expect everyone to leave right at closing times. Overall it's a cool atmosphere with games to play outside by the water, but not worth it for the overpriced food/drinks and poor customer service. read more

I brought a group of 6 here last night, which included 2 kids (age 9 and 7). We sat at the common table by the bar, so our server was the bartender. The service was fantastic. I didn't catch her name, but she was fast, attentive, and very nice. Two of us had the tuna tacos (VERY good), one had a burger (good...it didn't blow my mind but wasn't bad), and the crabcakes looked excellent. The kids had the fish of of the kids menu...an enormous (and delicious) battered fish with fries. The food was pretty good, the service really good, and I'd absolutely recommend. read more

I went with my husband to eat dinner on a Monday night. We were told they were on a 30 wait which they weren't but whatever we waited at the outdoor back in the back. They were a little understaffed so not at complete capacity but capacity for the staff they currently have. They have now hiring posts everywhere around the restaurant. At the patio bar they had a couple of TVs and we got some drinks. He got a Mai Tai and I got a coke he told me he liked the Mai Tai. The bartender was very sweet but was definitely dealing with the lack of staff and she kept running out of clean glasses, menus and other things. The patio itself looks great they have many outdoor games and it's facing the Chesapeake which is nice. They have high top tables and some booths that looks like little swings super cute! We got sat to our table pretty quickly once we started drinking at the bar maybe a 15 mins wait instead of 30. Once we sat our server was very nice but a little busy. We ordered and our food took forever to come out maybe over 20 mins and once it did we go our entree before our appetizers. We got oysters rocks for apps and crab cake and jambalaya for entrees. My husband got the jambalaya which was super watery and lacked flavor. He had to season it a bit to make it tastier. The crab cakes were good I substituted the broccoli for a Caesar salads and it was tasty but definitely had store brought croutons and dressing. The Rockefeller's were just okay my husband thought they tasted weird. The oysters were stuck onto the shell so it was a little difficult getting them out and there was more spinach than oyster. I thought they were just okay. Our server got them taken off our bill because they came after our entree which was nice of her. She stated the manager took them off but we never got a word from said manager. My husband also got a margarita which was really water down and not great. We closed out after eating and had leftovers. The patio was a little humid after a while and they do not have TVs in the dining areas just in the bar area. Neat atmosphere neat location and absolutely zero organization whatsoever in this establishment. You can order one thing one time and the next time you come in they may or may not make it for you just depends on the "chefs" mood. Sadly this has been the theme more than once thought that there is no way that this is possible however after the second time of this trend I now see it is true. I would recommend this place to anyone willing to have a meal that is chef choice ONLY without ANY variation then this is truly your spot. The wife and i came here a few times now and with one exception we were pleased with the the food, atmosphere, and staff. We love the fact that they have local beers on tap too. Just moved to the area & decided to try since it was conveniently located. Went for Sunday brunch the first time. I got the strawberry banana stuffed waffles which was unbelievably great! Tried the special$ mimosa & it was yummy! Two others had the shrimp PO boy & they could not stop raving that it was the best fried shrimp they ever had. Love the deck & staff is nice. This was my first time trying Lockside and I won't be going back anytime soon. It's right on the water but none of the tables face the water. What's the point of being on the water if you aren't going to offer a view? The menu was small but the choices looked and sounded good. The appetizers were genuinely good. After munching on them I was excited to try my main dish. It ended up being only okay. I've had much better seafood and I've also had much worse. My party and I ordered a couple different desserts to share once we had finished out meal. They said that all desserts were made in house so we figured they had to be pretty good. Yeah, not so much. They were all not what we had expected and only had a couple bites each. The waitress seemed confused and in disbelief that we didn't enjoy them. Overall, the food offered is not worth the price you pay. The restaurant was clean and appealing. However, from the outside you think you will walk on and done having a view of the water; which doesn't happen. The wait staff was nice but not too on top of things. read more

My wife and I came a few days ago for dinner entice by goupon. The live music provided the perfect background for a very romantic atmosphere. My wife had fried flounder which was huge and I had the fried shrimp. Both were very good though the shrimp was not as large as I expected. Overall we very pleased. Food, service, and overall ambience was first rate. That experience prompted to go their for breakfast. I was greeted and sat immediately. Jaime was my server and provided OUTSTANDING service. I ordered their early bird special of 2eggs fried medium well, 2 very LARGE sausage patties, 2 slices of the bread all cooked to perfection for the incredible price of $2.99!!
