I wish to leave this excellent review for Samantha aka: Sara and, another employee named Samantha...she has dark hair and for my Cairn Terrier's dog named Scruffy"s Vet whose Vet's name is Dr., Sandeep Chahal DVM who all really and I mean really...helped me, "especially today on 7/14@ with me being able to go into the Lodi Animal Hospital with no appt, in-kinda a crisis self mode due to my 12.5 yr old dog named Scruffy, passing away on 7/5/26 and, me missing my furbaby with severe sadness, hear breaking bot being able to sleep much as I have to focus on other things and therefore, not be in master bedroom where he slept etc. I mean I had to purchase several stuffed animals and place them in different parts of our house to feel like he still here. Anyway, today 7/14/26 an employee named Samantha aka Sara who is so sweet and was always there for Scruffy and me on all his past visits and today 7/14/26 3 employees really helped me during this time of grief. A dark haired Samantha helped me today by saying Scruffy, knows how you feel right now, he knows...and, I totally believed that as well and, as I arrived home a song was playing and I heard, "I know, I know and how ironic I heard that just as I was getting out of my CRV. It was most definitely a sign from Scruffy in Heaven to me today 7/14/2026 with the help of God. Praise God and this rating is a 10! They are Top Gun...The Best Of The Best! I have always received kind, caring and compassionate care and help and service from Animal Hospital Ham Lane in Lodi Ca. for me and, my beloved dog named Scruffy. PS I had to search for the song and again ironically the name of the song is I Know by Tom Jones :) I was also ultimately able today without an appt in a heartfelt, pretty much grief stricken, no sleep crisis mode was able to see my kind, caring and compassionate Vet Dr Sandeep Chahal He is the best Vet for my doggie I could ever have wanted. Dr.Chahal, was so kind and gentle with my 5 lb teacup Yorkie Lola. She is having teeth issues and Dr. Chahal took the time to explain to me different types of ways to protect my dogs teeth. We had an appointment on Thursday 7/3/25 at 4:30 pm. We arrived early to check in but were told to come in at the appointment time. We came in at 4:30 pm and were told we would not be seen for at least another 45 minutes, despite the fact we had an appointment. Parking is terrible and we had to park at Walgreens. We only needed a simple Rabies vaccination. We could not wait another 45 minutes ( at least) so we rescheduled the appointment. On Tuesday 7/8/25 , we had another appointment set for 5 pm for a simple rabies vaccine. We arrived before 5 pm, checked in and were told once again it would be another 45 minutes despite the fact that we had an appointment. Their excuse for two weeks in a row was "emergencies". Something is wrong with their appointment system and needs to be analyzed and fixed. We could not wait another 45 minutes and neither could others who said they had been waiting a long time and could wait no longer. We had to walk out because we nor others could not wait any longer. Unfortunately we will be changing Vets to someone who can manage their appointments better. read more

Just want to be clear -- we love Dr. Chahal and we go here specifically for him and he's always very kind and informative. But the receptionist staff is pretty rude and lacks any customer service mannerisms. Especially the older lady who's been there for years. Everytime I've gone in, I've patiently waited for others before me to be helped first. She always sees me walk in and never acknowledges me or says hi or even a "Be with you in one moment." Which can be confusing because then you don't know if they're working to finish something on the computer first or they really didn't see you walk in. They usually just ignore you until they have a minute to help you. I literally hate having to wait to check in my dog because of them but I like Dr. Chahal. read more

All staff are calm and gentle with my cat,Boo. All questions are answered if I have to see the vet for a health issue. I am cared for because my cat is well cared for. The office is clean ,but doesn't smell of cleaners. I would and do recommend this practice for vet care for a loved pet. read more

I have been searching for months for a place to have my dogs teeth cleaned. We had a dental appointment with our regular vet but he was unable to preform the cleaning and then unfortunately soon after that he left the practice. So, I decided to try a few other places, including Lodi Animal Hospital, find a good fit and a reasonable price for us. I called because there is a yelp review and photo from an owner who was happy with her cleaning and I was optimistic. I explained I had not been seen here before and asked about the process and just like the other offices I contacted I was told they would need to do an "office visit" and then they could give me a quote for the cleaning. The office visit here is $65. I scheduled the appointment and then the receptionist advised me they have a $25 missed appointment fee "in case you don't show up". I thought that was a very odd thing to say. We arrived early the day of our appointment and there were a few dogs already outside and one inside. My dog is usually fine at the vet but while in the waiting room here, she kept trying to go outside. They have an outswing door to the lobby that doesn't close completely so my dog was able to push it open a few times. This was not a problem as she was leashed but I finally had to put her on my lap. The lobby is small but clean and they had some small treats for the dogs. The exam room was a standard one and they had some cute art displayed. The doctor was lovely. He took a quick look at my dog and answered my questions. My dog is older and he also suggested and unrelated medication for the control of pain associated with osteoarthritis in dogs, which I thought was proactive and helpful and I really appreciated that. When he was finished, I went back out to pay for my appointment. I gave the receptionist my card a was told they charge a 2% credit card surcharge fee, so the $65 appointment will cost you $66.30. That's not really an issue, but I just thought it might be helpful to mention especially because, had I gone through with the cleaning at this location, the surcharge fee on the estimate they gave me would have been between $26 - $52 extra. Overall, I liked Dr. Chahal and thought he was helpful, professional and informative. However, the estimate they gave me was by far the highest of all the estimates I received for cleanings and the "nickle and diming" feel of credit card charges and missed appointment fees also made me reluctant to chose them as my new vet. That being said, if you are local and they are convenient and you are understanding of those types of policies, feel free to give them a try as the doctor seems to be caring and competent. read more

We love our pets, and want the best care, but nobody wants to overspend at the vet. I almost never go to the vet unless I am starting to imagine dread diseases or catastrophe. Dr.Chahal, despite being young, has amazing physical exam skills and a great bedside manner. This is rare and special among any medical provider and it means that he can often diagnose and allay one's fears without suggesting expensive labs and testing. He has a super calm demeanor which means my tiny yappy dogs do not flinch or bark. Finally, he does not talk down to, pressure or alarm you. I don't normally trust many providers, but he's given spot on advice for my dogs without any upselling, and has earned my confidence. read more

My family has been bringing our animals here for 40 years when it was originally Dr. Boles. Through all the changes in doctors and staff this place has always been the best. This place sometimes has ridiculous wait times even when you have an appointment. I don't know if they are overbooking or what, but prepare for a good long wait just in case. The veterinarian seems to want to give prescriptions for every ailment without first discussing other treatment options. You have to ask a lot of questions to discover that it may not be necessary to give your pet prescription medicine or food. read more

My sweet dog unfortunately had pretty advanced Periodontal Disease. Nothing we did at home was stopping it's progress. The dental care my dog received was incredible. They checked her heart and did blood work before surgery to make sure she was okay to go. I was told in detail what would happen, received a quote with no pressure to move forward, and had all my questions answered the first appointment. The day of surgery, I was called promptly with an update on how she did and was given a pickup time. Her teeth came out looking like porcelain caps. I can't believe the difference. She did have to lose a few teeth sadly, but meds and after care instructions were provided. Everyone here was so nice and welcoming too. I knew my furbabe was in good hands. read more

Or did I become "difficult" when I told Lynn that she didn't even ask me who I was, so how could she know anything about my history and her response was "I know who you are", apparently from her infallible caller i.d. The person she assumed I was, is most definitely not who I am. "Difficult"? Whoa, you have no idea. P.S. Dr. Sandeep Chahal, be careful with your attempts at doxing your patients, there are specific laws in California and I would assume certain ethical standards the veterinarian's licensing board maintains and enforces. read more

I wish I could give no stars. This vet completely lacks compassion. My family had an appointment to put our family dog to sleep and they had us waiting for 45 minutes. You can imagine how tough this already is for our family. My father wanted to voice that he was upset with this wait. In return we were refused service and sent home. How traumatic!!! I give this Vet 2 stars. It is very challenging to be seen by Vets right now and they were able to quickly schedule appointments for two of my cats. My bengal cat received great care last week and the Vet I saw that night was great. I'd give this vet 5 stars. He made a quick recovery after being seen and received full blood tests and diagnosis. Sadly this was not the case for an emergency foster cat we accepted from the streets we brought in this weekend. The cat was skin and bones and while the vet (a different one) dewormed him and ran basic bloodwork tests, no futher blood work was recommended until a follow up visit. The cat passed away this morning. The vet did not give the cat any fluids or nutrition. We did not even get advice on how to feed this cat or what to do at all. I'm completely devastated this morning. I would feel better if I felt we had done all we could for this cat, but I do not feel that is the case. My fat and healthy cat got more care and attention than this starving cat who it turned out sadly was near death. I brought the cat here because Emergency Services are advertised on their website but I feel we got little more help than a standard check up appointment. I would definitely work with the first vet again (who again was great) but not the second. I will schedule around the good doctor's schedule in the future. read more

I've found my new vet!! With COVID, it's nearly impossible to get an appointment, but I called this morning and they were able to get me in for 2:45. Everywhere in Stockton were booked solid until June. Once we arrived, a staff member brought out paperwork to fill out, came back a few minutes later to collect them. And before I knew it, a tech was out to get my baby girl for her appt. The doctor came out to explain everything before anything was done. Absolutely love the veterinarians and entire staff. I told them that our puppy was scratching... And we were hoping to bring him in... (it was 4:40pm, and they said to bring him in) total dedication... We got there at 4:45, and they had another 2 furry angels waiting to be seen... What I saw today was a total act of compassion to a very sad family that was getting prepared to put their baby to sleep... The mom was fighting the tears, and the son was holding the elderly doggy... And Dr. Gave them the time they needed to say goodbye to their furry 4-legged angel. Dr. was apologetic for making us wait, and we told her that when it is our babies' time, that we would appreciate the same compassion that she gave to that family... We've taken our pet there for the last, almost 11 years and have been pretty satisfied.

A few days after Christmas our elderly dog broke her leg. We knew she wouldn't recover. We called 3 other vets closer to our home before we called the Animal Hospital in the morning. They told us to come in an hour later. Through the exam and treatment (we had to put her down), the staff was both kind and empathetic while being efficient and taking care of business. They were clear and explained what would happen and laid out our options. I appreciated their ability to care for our dog (and us!) In a time when we were very emotional. read more

Hahahhaha apparently they read this review and tied it back to my account because I showed up to get my dogs flu shot so he could go to daycare over the weekend and they refused to provide any services. Just another example of how great this vet is. Instead of speaking to me about my issue they just refuse to see me. Actually a good thing because it forced me to finally switch my dog to where we take our cat. Glad to put this horrible business in the rear view. The customer service here is horrible. The women who run the front desk are almost always rude and so are the veterinarians. They call the veterinarians doctors which really bothers me because you know they don't have a doctorate in anything so it's pretty disrespectful to those who actually have advanced degrees and spent the time to earn the title. I do not recommend this place if you'd love or care for your pet I made an appointment to take my pet which was in my family for 16 years and made the appointment in order to say our final goodbyes. My family was with me even though we made an appointment when we arrived, no one had time to give us their attention we are several times when we would be seen and several times they asked us what we were. Therefore, we waited approximately 30 minutes with my pet in my arms the whole time when we finally got into the waiting room we still had to wait for the doctor, when he came in, I explain to him what had happened and that I was very unhappy because this was such an emotional and traumatic appointment that was hard to make. He put out his hand and told me to stop disrespecting him. I was in shock at that time, and said you have disrespected me and my family by treating us so poorly, he then accuse me of yelling at him, which I do not ever yell, nor have I ever yelled at my children my family, coworkers employees. He proceeded to tell me I am disrespecting him, spoke to me with such arrogant and belittled me as I was a child, I am 67 years old, he told me then that he would not see me nor would he see my dog I said he is dying he needs to be put to rest. He again admonished me and said you have disrespected me. I will not see you and I will not see your dog and walked away, leaving us in the room upon walking out, the nurse said you cannot disrespect our doctor. I wish I replied disrespect is a to a street we were the ones that have been disrespected my family and I walked out. Fortunately we called VCA in Woodbridge explained our unfortunate experience they immediately took us in, what a difference everyone there was loving, caring and paid such attention to detail. This is regarding Animal hospital in Lodi, on ham lane. My dog had a 10 am appointment for her nails to be trimmed. The rude lady at the front desk told my husband to take my dog outside in the back and she would call him in shortly. Because my dog doesn't get along to well with other animals. After waiting for 22 minutes with nobody checking on them, my husband decided to leave. I called the office and a nice person said she was unaware of any dog or person in the back. So I asked my husband to go back. I then called the office to let them know. A very rude person answered and said to me, "we are not going to stop everything and change rooms just for your dog" excuse me?!? Nobody asked her to do that. Then she became very argumentive with me, she would not let me get a wording, she was talking over me. This place is horrible!! I will never bring my dog back here again. Needed a new vet for our 110 lb Lab fur baby, as his previous vet retired. Was referred to the Animal Hospital on Ham lane in Lodi by a family member. Well, I could not be more pleased or impressed!!! Although they prefer appts., the graciously see you pet ASAP if needed. Our first visit, basically a "meet and greet" was very nice - great staff, esp Dr Chahal, who took the time to meet us and Gunnar, understood our deep love and concern. He shared his very competent vet experiences (I am a nurse), so we understood the range of his experience. Told us about his own fur bay, the staff, their dedication. PS - there was even a sign and candle on front desk to make other attends aware that another family was helping their baby cross the rainbow bridge, not at that time, TALK ABOUT COMPASSION AND CONSIDERATION! I was truly touched. 2nd visit seemed like a silly nose injury, instead of using expensive intervention first, Dr Chahal explained possible issues. After simpler interventions helped but some issues remained - we decided on a direct visualization, rhinoscopy, with possible xrays with necc. Sedation. Before, they provided a clear plan of care estimate, including services that could help with payment. Result? No permanent damage, no further surgeries, just cultures to define future care, as well as a "no charge" Rx for some preventive care. After all this, WE COULD NOT BE MORE PLEASED, while we await results, we got the priceless reassurance of no anatomical damage. We even got a refund for X-ray interpretation, as Dr. Chahal read them himself, and showed and explained them to me!!! LONG STORY SHORT - while outside may be deceiving, the staff within truly love animals and are dedicated to them and their human families. We will be patients forever. As a new pet owner choosing a vet can be difficult. After searching for local vets and reading reviews I choose Animal Hospital. I'm so glad I did. Every vet tech is kind, welcoming, knowledgable, and interactive with your pet. The Veterinarians are kind, answer all questions, informative, and provide excellent care. I've had a really good experience taking my new puppy there and I love how careful they are with him. I've never had a problem making an appointment. They always have a way to work with my schedule. This clinic switched hands and is no longer a place I will take my dogs. First there is no longer walk in visits unless its an emergency, unless your willing to pay an additional $60. Second prices have dramatically increased. I needed a simple brucellosis test for my female dog. They proceeded to do a full check up and I ended up paying almsot $200 for this test. The previous owners charged me half that less than a year ago. It seemed like the new owner was more interested in trying to sell me unneeded services than he was in performing the test I asked. Needless to say I will not be going back again. read more

I have been taking my dogs to Animal Hospital for over the last 20 years and it has been a pleasant experience. Since they have changed ownership I feel it has been a bad transition. When I read other comments by other clients I wasn't surprised when they mentioned that RUDE individual at the front counter. When they mentioned the name Lynn I knew exactly who they were speaking of. She does not fit in to the organization. She should not be in this business at all based on her attitude and compassion towards animals. As for new policies no credit cards? No checks? DEBIT cards ONLY! Now we have to make an appointment, as the last owners didn't accept appointments. Now without an appointment they charge an extra $10.00 dollar fee. How would anyone every know that? I am so upset. I made an appointment last Wednesday to euthanize my pet who has been a companion for ten plus years. He had an aggressive tumor and had been showing signs of pain. This was all diagnosed and predicted from the vet at the Lodi Animal Hospital. So I made an appointment on a Wednesday for the next Friday to euthanize him to ensure his tumor would not burst and further his pain. I had my neighbor drive me and little man, as I knew we would be upset and distressed. We arrived 05 minutes early but advised them that we were there and where we were parked. The person who answered the phone said someone would be out. They didn't say if I could go in with my boy. We waited about 10 minutes and no one came out. So we called again to ask. Mind you, my boy was stressed, I was a mess crying, distraught with fact that my boy was going to be put to sleep. They said ' you are considered a "walk in" and we will fit you in between appointments'. I said ' no I have had this appointment since Wednesday. I am not a walk in.' I just said - 'cancel this appointment ' as I was to distraught to sit and wait. I am sorry- but when it comes to an appointment like this, vet offices should make every effort to accommodate. It is already an emotional rollercoaster- from the day you decide this has to done to the day it is completed. For a business to dismiss this kind of appointment is completely unacceptable. . I do not advise using this business for compassionate care. read more
