Yooo their açaí bowl is really good. I wasn't expecting to like it at all because I'm super picky with açaí. But their açaí reminds me of a fancier version of SD blenders by SDSU (which btw has good açaí) but this place is def better than SD blenders. I like how they add hemp hearts, cacao nibs, and pumpkin seeds to their açaí! And how they easily omit the peanut butter. Sometimes I'll ask places for no PB and they still put it *insert angry emoji here* but this place respected my peanutbutterless açaí bowl wishes The Aztec mocha is HELLA spicy LOL. Like I can handle spice and was told it was spicy by the cashier but was taken aback by how spicy it was. Like ppl usually say something is spicy, and it doesn't end up being spicy. The Aztec mocha is like if you went to a hot chicken sandwich place and ordered a medium spice sandwich LOL. But still really delicious. they have parking which is always a plusss I just remember trying the downtown location once and I wasn't a fan, but maybe that's bcuz I ordered an iced tea lol. Matcha donut - this was really really sweet. The matcha doesn't come through very well. It was very moist though. The rose pieces were a little odd. Scone - much bigger than I thought, a tad bit dry. Okay overall. PSL - this was overpowered by the spice on top that kept getting caught in the back of my throat. I didn't like the overall flavor on this one. Solid option for coffee in the area! I got the lofty style Nola which is basically a vanilla cold brew and thought it was pretty good. It was a little watered down but that might have just been an off drink. I liked how the chicory flavor wasn't too strong but you can still tell it is there. I went on a Saturday late morning and there was a bit of a wait not only to order but also to get the drink. Lofty curious.~ This coffee shop is super cute in Solana! I have had this on my radar for so long and finally came by here to check it out. I was rather disappointed on my first experience here recently. They have ample seating, but get very crowded here. You order up front and find yourself a seat! I suggest grabbing your seat and having one person get in their long line to place the order. My coffee which was the New Orleans was nothing special, not sure if we I just came on an off day. I ordered their poached eggs which looked like a big hit, but were rather not. I love poached eggs, but these were rubbery whites and firm yolks- definitely overcooked!! I was looking forward to it being gooey-but-still-runny yolk to drizzle on my bread, but that was not the case. Luckily my friend shared her Avocado Turkey Croissant so I got to nibble on some and enjoy that one more than my own order, yikes! read more

I went back to the cashier area and asked what happened to my croissant - one of the workers apologized and gave me the croissant in a bag. 30 minute wait for açaí bowl and yogurt parfait. Coffee is all medium roast. Want to love it. Wanted to support small business. Ordered a milk and it was half full? No idea why. Coffee lid did not quite fit on my cup (yes I know how to put a lid on a cup of coffee) and so when I took a drink, it dripped out the side and left my white shorts spotted. We spent a total of 45 very long minutes between ordering and leaving. So plan your time accordingly. I will say, their chocolate chip cookie is amazing. Cute little find in the center of town. With a large patio that is eye catching when driving by, it's hard to miss this spot. I love the openness of the store as it flows to the patio. Very welcoming. Organic is a major plus. Then in talking to an employee I found out they make some items in house. I choose the mocha latte for that reason. It was amazing. Presentation was also fantastic with a little "art" on top. My friends ordered the almond croissant and that was probably the best pastry i've had in the US. So moist, so fresh and tasty....just unique and delicious. We shared it between the 3 of us, but I could have easily devoured my own, it was that good. I ordered a Chai Latte for my husband. It was a to-go order and I really should have tried it before I left. Sadly, it was so watered down we could barely even taste the Chai. :( Luckily overall this place was great! read more

I really want to love Lofty. Everything I order is just short of being really amazing. They make their own oat milk but really... should they? It's so hard-core. It's really punishment to drink. They need to stop this. The only thing truly outstanding is their cinnamon roll which isn't even available during the week for some reason. My friend wrote a review based on our experience Sept. 28 2024 at the Solana Beach location and I see the owner (?) accused her of lashing out and lied about the manager "trying to make it right". We were in yesterday morning but when I found a hair in my avo-hummus toast, I brought it up to the front counter. The woman who literally only replied, "oh do you want us to re make it?" I said "no" (ick), she took my plate and walked away. Then I walked back to our seat. They had a line of several people otherwise I would have gone back and asked for a refund. I called just now and the helpful person agreed to refund my card. Meanwhile, I hope the owner who responded to my friend on here takes a cue from how to treat customers (especially women) and not use language like "lashing out" when all we are doing to expressing what happened. We won't return to Lofty, SD County has myriad better options! read more

Lofty is a locally established brand which I appreciate very much but it is not the best. The coffee drinks are very sweet, and the regular coffee is bitter a little bit like the brews from Starbucks. They make their own pastries which is no easy task but my croissant was a little dry and the filling wasn't very flavorful. They make their own syrups and if you get a flavored drink they're a little bit better than the regular drip coffee I'm bummed because they're everywhere and these coffee shops are super cute and super popular but I wouldn't say they are the best in San Diego. read more

So my first experience ever at lofty coffee : This place was pretty packed. It's open and outdoors with a hipster vibe. Lots of seating but it fills up very quick. Not a whole lot of parking though. The lady at the register was very nice, I've been a barista for years so I'm kinda picky and was taking a little time to really look through the menu. I got the Mocha and the American Panini. Everyone there was super nice but the price was kind of insane. $5 for a coffee fine but the food is like $11+ and they don't give you a massive amount of food.. the panini comes with a salad on the side which honestly did not taste good at all. NO SALAD FOR ME there.. but the panini.. WOW! I was very impressed!! As well with the mocha. They only have dark chocolate but if you need to sweeten it they have sugar. It was very frothy and delicious! The pastries looked very enticing as well! That will be for next time for sure! read more

This location is perfectly located near my workout studio so getting a refreshing coffee after is a ritual for me. This Lofty is located in the arts district so if you do not want to stay seated in their (usually busy cafe), have a leisurely walk to see home decor and other art. The Lofty is all open air. And therefore, very dog friendly. My pup loves to visit because he is given a treat by the employees each time I get my coffee treat. Yes, sometimes the cue to order a coffee is long. And sometimes your handcrafted coffee can take long because this place is very popular. I find their prices reasonable because all their alternative milks are organic and made in-house. The pastries are made by Lofty as well. My favorite is the gluten free organic vegan chocolate chip cookie. For savory, I like their egg dishes and cauliflower bowl. read more

It's a quaint coffee spot in downtown Solana Beach and has very great design element with such a great feel. Their coffee smells and tastes amazing. I will definitely be purchasing some of their coffee beans to try at home in my espresso machine. Our first time there, we tried their pumpkin cold brew which is pictured and it was amazing! It's topped with crumbled graham cracker and compliments the drink well. We also tried their iced salted caramel latte which was good but I liked the pumpkin cold brew much more. This is my first time trying Lofty and I was so excited after reading all the reviews and seeing the nice ambience. I ordered a salted caramel latte and a cloudy with a chance. The drinks looked great when I got them. However, I tried the salted caramel latte and I did not taste any flavor as it was really watered down. No salted caramel notes and the coffee wasn't as strong as many of the other cafes I've tried. The foam for cloudy with a chance was good but as I got down to the cold brew itself, it had such an acidic and rancid flavor. I love getting cold foam cold brews at coffeeshops but this one disappointed me the most. I don't know if this is an off-day for the cafe or if I just tried the wrong drinks, but I probably won't come back again. read more

I started skimming through 1 star reviews before writing my own - goal of providing objective feedback on a restaurant. I've been to the Lofty locations in Carlsbad, Encinitas, and Solana Beach. Most frequented being the SB location since it is a short drive from our vacation condo. How good is this place? Been here 3 times already this week, and will go one or two more times before we leave. Space - each location has very industrial build-out with lots of polished concrete. SB location is on the smaller side I think, but still has a good amount of seating (all shaded, outside). Service - theme of most of the 1 star reviews was around service. I've had ZERO issues with the service. In fact I've found the service to be a higher standard that most coffee joints. Same guy worked the register all 3 visits and after the second one already recognized us and remembered our previous order. By the third visit, he noted "we are becoming regulars". That is attention to customer service. Food - you really can't go wrong with anything here. The bakery items are all very good. If you like Acai bowls, you MUST order that here. Another great option is the hummus & avocado toast - its a filling and very healthy meal. Will we return? Yes - every time we are in the area. read more

Lofty is still my favorite coffee shop in the San Diego area and the Solana Beach location is a cute shop. They have a dedicated parking lot as well as street parking. Service is impeccable (not a surprise) and the coffee is exceptional. This trip consisted of an Iced New Orleans topped with a mint sprig. The drink was strong, a hint of sweetness and creamy. I live in the city but come up to north county frequently. I've been to Lofty before so I decided to work here for a bit because I'm in Solana today. The place is great, it's all outdoor but there's also a lot of shade which is awesome for working. The coffee is also really good. It's a bit expensive, but it makes sense considering the location. I feel obligated to buy something when I work at a coffee shop (as all remote workers should) so I got a cortado. I then set up my spot and started working. When my laptop battery started getting low I went to plug in my charger and noticed a lock on the outlet. I went to ask the girl working what the code was and she mentioned she did not know it and she did not know why they were locked. I guess the owners don't want people staying for extended periods of time. I find this a bit strange and rude, considering people go to coffee shops to work and/or charge their phones when they're out and about, it's a part of modern coffee shop culture culture, especially for a place that is priced like this. For how expensive the drinks and good are, this convenience should be available to customers. It was my bad for not checking the outlet situation first but I've now just wasted $6 on a cortado I would not have bought had I realized they were permanently locked. It's good coffee, but don't come if you plan on working or charging anything. read more
