Great spot for coffee in Solana beach. Their seating areas are really nice with a nice ambiance. Their iced americano was really good. I also ordered their avocado toast which was very plain, just bread and avocado no frills. My girl ordered some tea and they brought it in a tea pot and an empty cup. The cup was very dirty and looked pretty gross. I took it to the counter for a new one and they gave me another dirty cup that I didn't notice until I got back to my table. I used to be a huge fan of Lofty. However, since they were acquired by coffee conglomerate a while back the magic has been lost. The employees are not as engaged and turnover all the time. Table numbers are now plastic (seriously?!). The gluten free toast is now mediocre. The cool, creative menus are now...TV screens. The ceramic cups that actually kept cot coffee....hot...were immediately changed to cheap cups that instantly chill the coffee. No cool music, vibe, etc. Are you guys trying to be Starbucks?! It wouldn't take a great deal of TOC . Replace your accountants with coffee people! read more

We had breakfast here while vacationing in Solana Beach, and the French toast and "Flower Child" toast (artisan French bread, almond butter, banana slices, coconut, chia seeds, sunflower seeds, honey) were delectable, with generous portions. We also shared a great scone that looked like blueberry but is savory egg, sausage, and spinach. Coffee was wonderful and rich, and my latte had thick, lasting foam even with nonfat milk--plus a beautiful design that I hated to stir in. There is also a small lot by the shop and easy street parking. My Matcha was delicious and flavorful, and the chocolate chip cookie was one of the best I've ever had! The staff were so kind and friendly, and were able to help us pick something off the menu since my group was so overwhelmed by the options. Been wanting to come here for so many years...but i'm not so great at getting out of the house early on a weekend. this past weekend my daughter had to be on Cedros at 8 am so I had about 30 min to wait. Instead of waiting in my car (I do that way too much) I decided to wait at Lofty Coffee. This was perfect since we already had planned to have breakfast afterwards. I ordered my coffee...thought about waiting to order food until she arrived but I didn't want to wait in that line again. By the time my daughter arrived, I had just gotten my coffee and food arrived soon after. She stood in line and ordered her food. Both arrived in a timely manner and we enjoyed our breakfast and conversation in a serene setting. There is something truly magical about being out in the crisp morning air and we were lucky enough to find a warm patch of sunshine where we were sitting. I stopped by after a walk with a friend and was overall happy with our experience. This Lofty coffee is located on the main strip of downtown Solana beach. It's all outdoor seating, which works well during the pandemic. Although there were a lot of tables in the front and back, it was pretty packed even on a weekday late morning. There was a line the whole time we were there. So I can imagine it's even busier on the weekends. My matcha latte (requested cold) was good with their homemade almond milk but I wish there was more matcha flavor in it. My friend liked her vanilla latte with almond milk. She also enjoyed the organic avocado toast with their gluten free bread option. The one downside is parking can be tricky given how busy this street gets. I got the London Fog latte which was very light in taste and not sweet at all. Kind of tasted like watered down milk with a hint of tea flavor. We all wanted to go to a cafe after lunch, so we walked over to Lofty Coffee. There are several locations in San Diego, but this was my first time coming to any of them. Besides fresh coffee and tea, they also offer organic pastries, and breakfast items. It was funny that most of us ordered the chai latte. Only one person got a matcha latte and his had latte art in the shape of a heart, so us girls were all jealous LOL. As for the drink itself, I was expecting a stronger flavor, but it was still good. I usually buy 1 pound bag and today I learned that not only the price has gone from $16 a couple of years ago to $19 which is ok but they have reduced the bag size from 16 ounce to 12 ounce.
