The smell as I walked in The Log Cabin Bar reminded me of the putrid smell of my old fraternity floors in college after a night of beer spilling parties. I hesitantly ordered the Walleye plate, thinking it being Friday night, it might be fresh. As the old grease smell approached my table, it became apparent that I should have never entered this establishment. Normally Walleye is lightly coated and pan fried. This was heavily battered and dripping with grease. The accompanying french fries had the same old grease smell as the fish. I told the server I would pay for the meal, but couldn't eat it. She said she would get me something else, so i opted for the cheesesteak, which I thought would be safe. It was the worst one I had ever had, with old meat and that same greasy smell of the fish. Needless to say I couldn't take more than a couple bites. They sell beer, so they stay busy, but the food is a big miss for me. read more

It's always a good time. Food is priced right and I've never had a bad meal. Servers can be a little uptight but I think they think it's funny. Not! Also, I really wish they'd remodel a little. Very disappointed, been coming here off and on for years. Previously you would never go with an empty glass or dirty plate in front of you. Stopped in today for dinner: could not sit outside because they would not put the umbrellas up because they said it was to windy. Got our food order from waitress, another waitress brought out our food, told both we had a to go order to place, neither of them came back to see if we needed anything else to drink or to take the to go order. Once we finished our food, I had to go to the bar to place the to go order, our first waitress was sitting at the bar drinking. Once to go order was placed still had no one come to our table for at least 15 min to see if we needed anything. Never have we ever seen the service here so bad. I have come here quite a few times through the last couple of years. The food is always between really good and wonderful! I have never been unhappy with the food and the portions for the price! It is a very small bar but it's such a great old fashioned, old-timed bar, with cold beer and fantastic staff. Sometimes it's busy, and I have been in that industry so I understand being busy, but the staff is so friendly and you can't go wrong with the food!!!! I want to love the Log Cabin. I've been here 3 times and once it was great. I raved about the burger and took my wife here for a "quick" dinner after work. After ordering, we waited an hour for a sloppy mess slightly resembling a burger. Our waitress did have the courtesy to stop over once about 40 minutes into the wait to say our food was "almost ready." I would have walked out if not for my wife, ha! If you're going for food, make it lunch or go somewhere else. read more

Last week we visited the Log Cabin and had their Hot Roast Beef Dinner w/mashed potatoes. It was VERY good, and large serving & filling. Really enjoyed our meal. Dive bar with good food and prices. I go here from time to time because it is close to my work and I have always been pretty impressed with their food selection and taste. Unfortunately I have never been here to have drinks because I am always on the clock but their waitstaff is all great and the food is also good. I highly recommend ANY of their soups, I've yet to have a bad one and I also really liked their wings and SHB (shit hole bar) burger. Actually pretty good. This place is a hick bar and one shouldn't expect much. However, we found that the food was actually worth eating and coming back for. The staff isn't all that friendly to out of town traffic, which is bad because there is an airport here and there isn't a good restaurant in Freeland to go to. read more

Just went to the Log Cabin for lunch. The veggie wrap was good (as always). I ordered the stuffed pepper soup and it was horrible. It came out lukewarm, way too much meat, little rice and no flavor. All of the grease was on the top. I told our waitress it was not very good. She took the soup away and still charged me $3.95. She was too busy filling containers and prepping other things to give good customer service. I work at the airport and will not refer any more people to the Log Cabin for lunch read more
