It's been 4 years since we purchased a plot. It was the only one nearest to us. The office was professional and overall considerate of the situation. The mortuary not so much we ended up going with a different mortuary. The cemetery itself has been a decent experience. They have a lot of rules about decorating and flowers. It's a little heartless if not followed. Overall the grounds are kept decent and clean. There are a few wild animals that come by often like ducks and coyotes. Unfortunately, this recent experience has shown me that they have not. These people treat the belongings of our loved ones as if they were trash. Why not leave a note? This memorial park is beautiful! My adopted grandpa's final resting place is here and when he had the burial, it was really nice. Though I remember it took forever to get his headstone in place but Grandpa picked a really nice central spot where all the vets are so the location is perfect. This park is one of the older ones so there are definitely really old headstones and I do see some being flooded or are fighting with nature... It's always so peaceful and calming here. DO NOT PUT PEOPLE YOU CARE ABOUT IN THIS CEMETERY. This review was never going to be nice based on the experiences working with the staff here (Justin), but it was going to be nicer had the funeral "director" not been an absolutely disrespectful amateurish imbecile, completely lacking any sort of empathy or respect for the deceased. He was the only one out of anyone present to TREAD ON THE HEADSTONES in the outdoor mausoleum including but not limited to my own grandparent's headstone in front of everyone... WE WERE THERE TO REUNITE MY GRANDMOTHER WITH MY GRANDFATHER... What kind of person does that? Literally everyone else there understood the basic decency of not stepping on grave markers, BUT THE FUNERAL DIRECTOR? NO! Not only that but his manner and curt tone were extremely telling that this abysmal excuse for a man is jaded and has absolutely no business in this industry with this irreverent behavior. This... However seems to be a common trait shared by these yahoos that call themselves professionals at Loma Vista Memorial. It is a frequent sight to see the ground crew actively DRIVING OVER THE HEADSTONES IN THEIR TRUCKS, which Justin very rudely informed me was unavoidable?! This was not the beginning of the issues I have with the staff here. Justin, whom I mentioned above is also an abhorrent excuse for a decent human; "helped" us in making arrangements for the service which we held in their indoor chapel... It started off a month before with a visit to the chapel led by Justin whom informed us of the $600 fee for a Saturday service. Okay, that's fine. A few days before the service WE CALLED to confirm, Justin told us he had "forgotten" a rental contract for $1000 on top of the $600 fee he mentioned prior. It's not like we can reschedule or shop other sites for the service because all the family had already flown in from around the country. We go in for the final meeting with him to solidify the arrangements the day before the service and Justin had such an air of condescension and the tone he took with my mother was unacceptable when we tried to dispute the surprise costs among other issues including an error on their part for the headstone which they informed us would be an extra $2000 to fix... There are more small issues I have with this place but this review is already too long. I have always heard the funeral industry is predatory, now I'm a believer. If however you have a recently deceased problematic family member that have been terrible, boy do I have a good recommendation. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. However, I'll extend one -- and one only -- in recognition of the serene and well-maintained grounds. It's a shame that such a beautiful resting place is operated by individuals so profoundly lacking in compassion, professionalism, and basic human decency. I had hoped to recommend this funeral and mortuary establishment, but unfortunately, the leadership personnel have made that impossible. They speak to potential clients as if we are beneath them -- as if experiencing the recent loss of a loved one isn't already an emotionally exhausting ordeal. Their tone and demeanor suggest they believe empathy is optional. It is not. Strike One: I arrived an hour before closing time to explore cremation niches and burial options following the passing of my mother. I approached a man (Mr. Casey Medart) on staff, explained my circumstances, and received no expression of sympathy -- not even a cursory "I'm sorry for your loss." Instead, he promptly reminded me they would be closing soon and that I would need to make an appointment if I expected to view the grounds with a representative. I then asked if I could explore on my own and requested a map. He begrudgingly highlighted two sections and dismissed me without so much as a kind word. Later, when I became slightly turned around on the property and approached him again for guidance, he responded with exasperation, as though I were inconveniencing him -- despite the fact that I was simply navigating an emotionally difficult visit. He eventually pointed me, sarcastically, in the right direction, albeit hesitantly and without warmth. Strike Two: A cemetery broker had informed me that Loma Vista had available companion plots, which might suit my needs for both my mother and, in the future, my aunt. I returned to the property to continue my search and called the office, where I spoke with Mrs. Allison Adams. Her family members may have founded this business, but I imagine they would be dismayed by her unprofessionalism, condescending behavior, and lack of empathy. I explained that I was trying to locate a specific area -- the West Lawn -- and asked if she could assist me. I mumbled through my poorly written notes and apologized that I wasn't better informed. Her demeanor was immediately cold, condescending, and dismissive. She took it upon herself to make me feel small, ignorant, and unworthy of her time. I clarified that I had lost my mother, was actively evaluating options, and simply needed some guidance. She offered no condolences, no reassurance, and certainly no kindness. Her frustration with my unfamiliarity with the grounds was painfully obvious -- communicated through sarcastic remarks and an unmistakably disdainful tone. I eventually located the plot, and, despite everything, still thanked her for her time. Strike Three: After discovering a lovely set of granite cremation niches tucked behind a pergola, I called Allison again the next day to inquire about pricing. It felt as though she remembered me from the day before because again, she acted as though she had absolutely no idea what I was referencing -- even though the area is distinct and unlike anything else on the property. Her tone this time was even more dismissive, even more annoyed, as though answering basic questions was beneath her. I calmly described the space in detail, and rather than simply assisting me, she doubled down on her condescending tone. At that point, I felt compelled to ask her not to speak to me in such a manner and let her know that she owed me an apology. Rather than apologize, she tried to justify her lack of decorum and bad behavior. What followed was an escalation that made it clear she had entirely forgotten her role -- and her place -- as a representative of a family in mourning. She became openly hostile. I've now visited five memorial parks. Loma Vista, while visually nice, is completely off the list and I will communicate this to anyone that should ask about it. It ranks dead last in terms of service and respect. According to their website, "It is the purpose of Loma Vista to provide each family with the utmost care and personal attention." I never experienced anything even remotely resembling that mission. Not from Allison Adams, and not from Casey Medart. Thankfully, I have both the financial means and the discernment to place my mother's remains somewhere she will be treated with the dignity she deserves -- something this establishment clearly struggles to provide. One can only hope that when Allison faces a loss of her own, she is met with more grace than she has shown others. read more

Loma Vista Mortuary was cold and seemed to have no regard for what difficult decisions one must make after the death of a loved one. I never knew how horrible and difficult finalizing these types of arrangements were going to be. I think sitting there at their little round table and having to see my mother answer the required questions for her husband of 61 years final paperwork was heart breaking and gut wrenching. Very upset with this place. Very insensitive and non compassionate. They just wanted to talk about business (money) at the toughest time in a persons life. Planning for a loved ones death. We had our dear father cremated by them and no one called to tell us it had been done. Waited and waited for a call. Finally called to follow up and they stated he had already been cremated and you can pick him up. We were waiting and the whole time it had been done and no one contacted us. My dear father's remains had been sitting in a box for days and NO one reached out to us. When asked why no one informed us they said, "Casey (the insensitive man that took our information) was not working on the day it was done and never contacted us after. This was very difficult for all of us knowing that they did not care or respect our father. Wish I had read the reviews before we used this place. If you are looking for a nice place to support you and have compassion for your loss, this is NOT the place! They made our difficult time worse by showing such little regard for our loved one. Immediately after my father-in-law's passing, I began to arrange for cremation and a small service. After a few calls to various mortuaries, I learned that cremations had a COVID-impacted wait of at least a few weeks--we had hoped to do the cremation and service much sooner. Upon my initial call to Loma Vista (and Travis), everything changed. With an on-site crematory, I was given a one-week estimate for cremation. But, there was also a daunting process: finalizing the death certificate, coroner sign-off, hospital paperwork, planning the service, etc. All of this went as smoothly as we could have hoped. Exactly one week after my father-in-law's passing, we were able to have a small, but beautiful service at Loma Vista with his ashes present. Thank you to Loma Vista, but this review is really all about Travis. Behind the scenes and in-person, he was communicative, meticulous, and on top of everything while facilitating both the multi-faceted process and day-of logistics. From my initial phone call with Travis to the end of the service after the last guest had departed, I could not have asked for anything more. Thank you so very much, Travis. If you are looking for a place to come visit and leave flowers, gifts, etc., then this is not the place to go to. They have rules that they enforce and follow whenever they please. I am scared to take flowers or anything sentimental for my loved ones because they always throw everything away with no hesitation. It's not easy to lose someone and all I would want is some compassion and more lenient rules when it comes to remembering your loved ones the way you want too. It hurts to buy flowers for loved ones and for them to randomly be thrown away whenever they feel like it. I also want to add that there are cans of beers there that are never thrown away, yet they throw away the flowers almost instantly, it's absurd. As of now I wouldn't recommend anyone to bury loved ones here, however if things change I will update. I have a friend who is going through grief of two lost ones and they are both buried there. Every single time we go leave flowers and come back the next day or two days, they are gone. The people here have no compassion and have no idea what it's like to lose a loved one. Well I'm here to tell those who consider choosing this place to read reviews and maybe ask the people that come here what loma vista is truly like. My family and I go daily to visit our passed loved one and we know that cleaning day is Thursdays which means you have to remove everything left there by Wednesday. After cleaning day you're free to put everything back which is what we always do. But this time when we put everything back after cleaning day we noticed the next day that everything we had put back was thrown out regardless. My family and I aren't really ones that speak out and complain but this time we feel our voice needs to be heard. I also forgot to mention the service provided in this place. I have to cut the grass around my loved one and clean around it because they don't seem to do it often which is something else to take into consideration. All in all the message that should be put forward here is before you choose this place do some research on this place and see for yourself if this is a place you'd like to come to and see your passed loved ones at. read more

If I could give a negative review I would. I used to recommend this cemetery because they were very compassionate but I believe they have new people in charge and they are rude. They do not want you to celebrate any anniversaries or birthdays of your loved ones. It feels like they would like you to bury your loved one and go away and never come back. They are simply the worst, very insensitive to other people's feelings, and on top of that, they argue something they post in the open ( please see pics below). They will throw, dispose of, get rid of, and not respect anything you place on the grave before date on post. I was there yesterday ( wednesday) and everything was disposed of. If you read sign it states " everything will be dispose of thursday morning" this is untrue. They will do this Without Notice! I called today and spoke to a lady (Grace) who could not explain the meaning of decorations on their post. The post states" fresh flowers and decorations only". What is the meaning of decorations to them? She doesn't know! Really? And to my understanding, she manages this place! Lol. I also need to clean my mother's grave every week, and believe it or not I also clean other people's graves next to my mother's because the cemetery staff doesn't. So my advice to you, please look elsewhere don't waste your time, money and energy at this place. Avoid the headaches in the long run. You will regret it as i do! I have also spoken with other people who strongly feel they also made a big mistake placing their love ones to rest here. There was many other customers looking through all the broken stuff looking for their special belongings. People are grieving the lost of their loved ones and then have to deal with inconsiderate staff that maliciously destroy belongings of their loved ones. My Mother and Father have been at Loma Vista for the last 6 years. When my 18 son died, my husband and i wanted him to be near my parents. We made the initial call, which was so difficult, but we were immediately made more at ease by the compassionate person who answered the phone. We feel very lucky that we got to work with Justin Britt. He was always kind and understanding and was a very good guide for us through the whole process. I felt like I could trust him; that he would take good care of our sweet boy as we were preparing for his burial. Justin was there the morning of the graveside service to make sure everything went smoothly. He Helped make a very difficult time easier and we will be forever grateful to him. Don't put your loved ones to rest here. They cannot even keep track of where they are after the fact- no markings related to area/row/ grave site. Area l visited was not well keep at all and after visiting twice 125 mile round trips still could not locate gravesite. They even gave me the lot/grave no#. i walked around for over an hour. Many headstones covered with mud -etc. No one working the cemetery on Sunday. This review is long overdue. My association with this cemetery began in 1999 when my 45 year-old husband passed away from cancer. After his memorial service at church, Loma Vista offered to store his cremains until I was ready for a graveside service. A few months later I called to arrange the burial and was told he had already been buried! Due to my reaction to this news, they offered me a new plot for him anywhere in the cemetery - which I agreed to. 19 years have passed, and I stopped by their office today to inquire about a new grave marker since the current one had not stood up well to weather, etc. I stood in the lobby on the other side of the glass window waiting for one of the two employees to help me. One was on the phone while browsing his Facebook page, the other was also on her computer and did not look up while I stood right in front of her. At this point, the owner (I remember him from my last encounter) passed by and said, "Somebody will be with you in a minute." After a while, Facebook Man got up and passed by us, went into another office, and shut the door. Finally, the owner came back out of his office and asked the woman, Grace Perez, if she could "please" help us. I don' know who was supposed to help us, but certainly nobody wanted to. I recently purchased a flower holder for my mother's crypt at Loma Vista. I went to visit and leave flowers for my mother, father , and late husband. I had purchased three nice bouquets. Imagine my surprise to find that all of the holders for flowers for crypts and graves had been removed. Even if you could leave your own water receptacle, the water has been shut off, so you cannot get water for any type of container. The grass has not been mowed in a long time, and the grounds appeared unkept. I have been visiting the cemetery for 23 years, and it was previously well taken care of, but this time the place just seemed abandoned. There were no visitors there, and it was a weekend! This place frequently leaves my dad and grandfathers graves looking like shit (overgrown weeds and grass) while the ones near and around are meticulous. My dad has a tree near his grave and there has previously been a wind chime there for months. It's been gone for about a year so I decided to buy one a put it there....removed within 5 days. When I asked an office employee she told me it's impossible that there was another wind chime there that wasn't removed and invalidated what i told her. She condescendingly told me I should never put anything of value in a public place, which makes NO sense considering this is private property which is stated on the signs she pointed out. No signs say ANYTHING about wind chimes, only ground decorations, yet mine was removed before i could even see it in action. I'm so disappointed in the lack of compassion and care this woman showed. I dropped flowers off for my dad's birthday (which happened to fall on a Wednesday), however, Loma Vista has adopted a policy in which flowers are trashed EVERY Thursday regardless of their condition. I inquired about the policy in the front office and was provided a generic response. Here's a suggestion: Why not have your groundskeepers throw away the DEAD flowers each Thursday? It's not difficult to tell the difference between the two. I just cannot grasp the reasoning for this policy, but apparently if you want to leave flowers for your loved ones go on a Friday so you can get your weeks worth. What a joke!! Additionally, this is not the first issue we have had with this facility so my review reflects many, many instances of failure on the part of Loma Vista. I only had a good experience with Loma Vista . My mother was cremated and because of the corona virus their store was closed to buy a urn. I bought 3 one large and 2 small from someone else. Loma Vista filled them and we just picked them up. They also gave me a nice blue bag to keep them in until Lompoc opens up again and my mother can be buried with my father. After dropping off a friend's car at the nearest Best Buy, we passed by a cemetery on Bastanchury and decided to stop and visit some dead peeps. It's definitely one of the smaller cemeteries in Orange County. The front of it contains the recently deceased, while waaaaaaaay in the back right corner has the older and cooler looking tombstones. While walking around and reading over the dead's names, we realized a lot of the older graves had the FREEMASON emblem on them. A LOT OF THEM!! It was kinda eerie. I dunno, I've seen cooler cemeteries and this aint it. Plus, I found a restroom that was LITERALLY AN INCH FROM A GRAVE! I was offended. read more

Horrible staff! Not very sympathetic at all. They started throwing /cleaning up policy a few years ago and their idea of cleaning is driving over the headstones. So very disrespectful and upsetting for the families that put in loving care to keep the headstones nice and clean. Our family have someone come out every week to put fresh flowers and decorations for on our father's grave site. With their newly policy of cleaning we have to make sure we come out on Wednesday so that they don't throw away our decorations but they will sometime do their cleaning on Wednesday morning instead of Thursday as their signs stated. And sometimes they will go for a couple weeks without cleaning/mowing the lawn at all. Many times the headstone are filled with grass clippings from them driving over the headstones. Some holidays like Tet is a big holiday for the Asians and in the Asian area the families will spend a lot of money to bring nice flowers arrangements and decorations to decorate their love ones grave site but only to have the staff "bulldozer" down the flowers. It is considered a big holiday and they should considered letting the family leave the decorations up for more than 1 week. We have asked them multiple times to consider letting the asian area to have the decoration up for 2 weeks like they do at Christmas but our plea fell on deaf ears. As stated before, the staff were not very sympathetic or understanding to the needs of the families. Horrible! read more

So, the headstone was wrong ... and then this place told us it was our problem. My mom visits dad's grave everyday. Decorates it for every holiday. She came one day late to pick-up the Christmas decorations, including a 5-6' tree with special family decorations, and they were gone but other graves had not been cleared. Very peaceful resting place for my mom and my aunt. The birds are always singing and you can hear the distant laughter of children from the adjacent school. The squirrels run along the ground and up into the trees. Serenity abounds. The groundskeepers are friendly and always say hello and wave. Unfortunately, the serenity is disturbed in the evening by a woman who bothers me when I go there to visit my deceased loved ones. She also rearranges and throws out the brand new flowers I have purchased as well as other decorations that are allowed at certain times throughout the year. I have complained on many occasions and have been told that MANY others complain about her too and that she should not be bothering us during our visits nor touching anything on my loved ones' grave site and disposing of it. Signs were posted to no avail. Something needs to be done to get this woman to stop. read more

I have found Loma Vista Cemetery to be one of the best cemeteries that I have visited. I have a number of ancestors buried there. the staff have always been helpful and considerate when I asked for the locations of my relative's graves.They have finally obtained computers which should make things easier for the staff and the public. This is a great cemetary. My nephew and brother are buried here and they did a great job. They have an awesome sunrise service every Easter Sunday that just takes your breath away. If you are looking for a small resting place for a loved one this is the place to go to. read more
