Very upset when going on Memorial Day it looked like it was never mowed and the gravestones were covered up by weeds. I would think you would present it much better especially for Memorial Day when most people are going on that weekend. read more

We are grateful for the kind staff at Brea Memory Garden Memorial Park and Mortuary. We do wish the facility would've been a little better cared for and the operations just a little more professional. Leslie was so sweet and soft spoken I actually wished for a little more brusque professionalism. However, I overheard someone else's similar intake conversation with a different associate and was glad for Leslie's competence. She answered most of our questions easily and was able to find the answers she didn't immediately know. When we walked the grounds on our own to see if and where we might want to bury our daughter, we were stopped by one of the groundskeepers to ask if we needed help finding or tending a grave. He was so kind and we were amazed by his care and attention. When we decided to use their cremation services instead, we were quoted certain pricing over the phone (by Linda) that they were, ultimately and unfortunately, not willing to honor. I didn't have the heart to quibble over $75 when I was mourning the loss of my daughter, so we let it slide. During the intake conversation it seemed Leslie was obligated to show us their showroom even though we told her we would be making the urn. She wasn't rude. Just made us aware that we would be seeing the showroom before we left (even though we didn't need it). Still, she didn't hound us to purchase anything or choose any particular options. Also during the intake conversation, there was a service in session in the connected chapel. There was chanting and incense and it carried strongly into the connected funeral home and offices. It gave us both headaches from the strength of the noise and scent. So we wish the offices were kept a little more separate to avoid the discomfort. The funeral home itself is so charming, but in definite disrepair. It's a colonial establishment and theme and we both loved it. However, the carpet is rippled, the walls and baseboards have gouges and dings, and the bathrooms are old and dirty. I absolutely loved the atrium space with the fountain and flowers. I spent most of my time looking out the windows at the atrium while we waited for the paperwork to be copied and verified. The small but beautiful atrium soothed my soul. We chose to attend the cremation. Leslie walked us back and the crematory manager, Eric, met us and explained the process. It was 96 degrees outside and the room didn't have air conditioning so everyone was uncomfortable. But Eric still wore his suit coat and didn't rush us. Told us to take as much time as we needed. He handed me tissues when I was overwhelmed and the told stories to try to raise my spirits. I understood the kindness and empathy and generosity of spirit behind his actions. We ultimately waited in the lobby for the duration of the cremation. This is where we found out that a lot of business is conducted out in the lobby for anyone to witness. That was the unprofessional part. I even hate to mention it because the staff was always so compassionate toward us. But the business should've been handled elsewhere. We got to hear everyone's personal business. The manager came and spent some time with us again while we waited and told more stories and really showed such kindness and compassion. When we picked up her ashes, the manager met us again and brought her ashes out himself and spent more time chatting and making sure we were happy with the way things turned out that were within our control. Overall, I would recommend Brea Memory Garden Memorial Park and Mortuary. I wouldn't hesitate to say that it's not the most professional establishment, but the employees are good and compassionate people. Eric is so kind. I'd also mention the funeral home is in a bit of disrepair. However, the grounds are peaceful and pleasant and have been in great repair each time we've visited. read more

Chloe an employee of this establishment lied and started a non court sanctioned agreement with a non relative of a deceased. Once the court ordered a release of the body to the true family, this business now wants to charge $900 to the grieving family who did not sign any documents with this company and is now threatening to withhold the remains of the deceased. The landscaping. It is so horrible! My brother and I go every last Sunday of the month to visit our mother and other loved ones. Every month that we go to put flowers in the vases they are covered with grass & weeds and we can barely see their headstones as well because they are also covered by the grass. They need to get the landscapers to do their jobs! read more

This place is not cheap and the maintenance is really poor. Everytime i go to visit the grass is really tall looks like it has not been trimmed for weeks. Yesterday I showed up and I saw 3 persons with weed whackers and edge trimmers to do the job that they are supposed to do . What can you do take your loved ones to else where no you can't. It breaks my heart that my parents are buried here and the care of this facility has diminished. According to the mortuary, their well pump broke so they have let all the grass die. It is despicable and sad. I go to the cemetery to find peace and visit my mom and dad and other relatives. The bronze on my mom and dad's head stone is chipping and I just don't think that should happen. If I could move them I would! Horrible!! No water for flowers either. read more

Mom got VIP service today. I took flowers up to mom and this little old man name Alejandro stopped his tractor and came over and said who is this? I told him it's my moms 80 Bday. He said okay we are going to make mommas day very special. He asked me to remove the flowers he then went and got his hedge trimmer and trimmed up all around her gravesight and headstone, got his blower put gas in it and blew off all the trimmings. Then he said again wait wait we make momma very happy and he came over polished up the head stone and said okay go get the flowers he got fresh water and then said, now Happy momma! I shook his hand and thanked him very much. He was like an angel sent from heaven to make mom's day very special such a blessing to see a stranger go above and beyond to make a day so special. My parents are buried in the veterans field at Memory Gardens. We visit their grave regularly and several months ago discovered that my mom's Registered Nurse medallion on the headstone was missing. We can't tell if it was stolen, but it was definitely scraped off. We made our initial call to the Memory Gardens office ALMOST 3 MONTHS ago to have the nurse's cross medallion replaced. As of this writing, it has still not been replaced, even though we call weekly, provided pictures of the headstone before and after, have emailed the information, and have gone to the cemetery office in person. (I suppose I could leave out the part where they did actually install a replacement a few weeks ago... of an UPSIDE DOWN nurse's cap. But, that's probably an important detail. It gives you an idea of the kind of issues you may run into here.) Besides being completely unprofessional - in that we were promised this would be handled, but have never received the requested follow up, let alone a resolution - it's also a disgrace that, of ALL people, they would allow the defacing of a headstone and not correct it immediately. read more

My grandparents and aunt are buried here. When my mother passed away this past December 2021 I knew she would want to be buried by her parents. When I called to speak with someone they said they had nothing available. Then the priest at our church called they said they only had a double occupancy available and I was not financially in a position to be able to afford two spots nor was I ready to pick my own. But I truly wanted to do right by my mom so after waiting days to be contacted back and trying to plan a burial around Christmas I finally decided to get a loan to be able to afford the cost quoted for two spots . One person on the phone told me we would have to wait a week and half to bury my mom which her not being embalmed by religious reasons was also not resonating with me costing more to keep her at a mortuary . After many calls and messages left . I finally got an appt with Crystal and drove to memory gardens to pay and Crystal said she suddenly had to single spots for me to choose from. Very odd since first told me none and then told me double. Now there was two singles ? I was happy I was able to pay for my moms solo spot but frustrated I had to jump thru hoops to get a loan for the double. I don't see how this back and forth and changes could occur in just a day, as if no one there really knew what was going on with their own property. They were also suddenly able to burry her in two days! Not the week and half they told my mortuary , now I had to rush the service . While grieving I have to say this was a horrible experience and one huge guessing game. If you choose to bury a loved one here DO NOT go thru their company picking out the hedge stone. I went with a flyer they gave me and sent them a photo and details of what I want on her stone and I asked for final drafts of three stone choices. They would send me one at a time and I'd have to wait one to two months for each one . Here we are now in June 2022 and I still don't have one final sent to me on the black stone. I email Crystal and Veena weekly to try to get an answer and no one responds . It should not take 6 months to get a stone finished. The process is leaving me sad and frustrated as I want my mom to have a proper burial and if family or friends visit they have nothing to leave flowers behind . I want this finished and I'm tired of being given the run around. I feel like they are not professional and what is already a very difficult thing to do burying a loved one! This process should be easier considering how expensive it truly is. I'm not happy . I don't think I will choose to be buried there with my family given the circumstance ! Between the four family members that are there we have paid over $100k we deserve to be treated better . read more

My family can't say enough good things about our experience with Yessenia. She worked with us and coordinated my grandpa's services. She communicated with us the whole way through and we were always on the same page. She went so far as to be at my grandpas cremation because it was too hard for the rest of us to be there. Vitoria the funeral director was great. thank you. my dad died about 2 weeks ago and we were pending his body on investigation but finally got him at this mortuary where his dad and grandma were. we opted cremation, but on a whim my sister asked if we could see him one last time. Victoria said she would see if he was presentable before the cremation and said yes, give them some time to get him ready. My sister and I waited nervously and then she led us to a big chapel all to ourselves with only our father at the front. they didn't have to let us view him but they did. he was so peaceful, and he was covered so eloquently he looked like he had just gone to sleep even after two weeks. he was wrapped in a blanket with warm lighting with the fountain in the background. they told us to take our time. even though we had paid for cremation only they didn't have to let me and my sister have a private viewing and they did and I will never forget that. thank you. read more

I've been absent from writing reviews for a bit...a lot has happened in my life that has led to this. This past September, my husband and I said goodbye to our first son. He was stillborn at 39 weeks. He was every bit a real baby...he was just missing a heartbeat. When you're slipped into tragedy like this, you're paralyzed. The world is confusing. You can't make sense of anything. But suddenly, we were sitting in a hospital, and were handed a packet of options...of places we could take our son. And Memory Garden was on this list. I can't say there was anything specific on the list from St. Jude Hospital that made us choose Memory Garden. It's not even that I thought of Yelping any of those potential mortuaries. It was the closest mortuary to our house. We'd already decided cremation was the best option for us, so location was only part of it. I don't know why we were so lucky in just picking them off the list... But just thinking back to how wonderful the staff at Memory Garden was to us--makes me tear up all over again. Denise. You were a Godsend in what was hopefully the darkest moment of my life. Things could have been so much more difficult (as I've recently experienced with my mother-in-law's death). Denise had compassion beyond words. We showed up at the mortuary the day after our son was stillborn with both of our entire families in tow. I'm sure this isn't the norm for them, but Denise made everyone feel welcome. She was warm and caring. She did everything to make every terrible decision we had to make a little bit less hard. She arranged for us to get in contact with a pastor at a local church to do our service...and he was perfect. We were so not prepared to do any of this. We were broken. But Denise...made it as painless as she could. She did everything in her power to take care of us. We arranged for a private viewing...and the memorial service in their chapel. And then we brought our sweet boy home in a tiny urn within a teddy bear when all was said and done. I've recently had the displeasure of doing business with a VERY terrible mortuary, and no one needs that when they're dealing with death and their own grief about the loss of a loved one. You can't go wrong with Memory Garden. Their pricing was fair. There was no hidden costs. They are wonderful people who understand grief and loss and the pain that families deal with. And at the end of the day, that's all you can ask for in a mortuary. That they take care of the living while dealing with death. read more

This is a hard review to write as its regarding my Mothers passing but I know in this day and age people are looking to these reviews to help them especially in hard times like these. We had contacted Memory Gardens a few days before my Moms passing knowing that her death was coming sooner than later. My Mom was on hospice care after a long battle with multiple cancers. Once on hospice we hoped she would be with us awhile however she passed within just 5 days. Our appointment we had set was for a Sunday and my Mom ended up passing Saturday night. We provided the information to hospice of where my Mother would go and they contacted the transport company to come and transport my Mother. Sunday Morning before they even opened I l received a call from Denise to let us know that they had my Mom and to contact them to get everything started. The last names were different (my sister and my moms) so she did not realize we already had an appointment. We arrived for our appointment and then she apologized for calling. There was defiantly no need to apologize as that call gave me some comfort knowing my Mom had arrived safely and was being cared for after her passing. When I say we, it was probably about 10 of us, (brothers sisters spouses and grandchildren). Denise did not mind at all and was so nice to all of us. We were all very upset as my Mom had just passed the night before and she showed so much compassion. At the times she could see we were upset or overwhelmed she waited or moved to a different subject. When picking out the casket for my Mom She gave us true honest options to choose from low to high and listened to our concerns. In the end she helped us pick the best option. She showed us both places, for burial, the newer lawns and the older ones. The older ones were a little less expensive and were sold by private parties. We bought on the older lawn not really because of the price but because we liked that the trees were already built up so it offered a good amount of shade. From that day forward Denise made sure we were well informed of what was happening, what we needed to get them (information for death certificate, clothing, make up, etc) On the day of my Moms visitation she brought out an extra table so we could set up her pictures and did not rush us out. We were there at least a half hour after our time and they didn't mind at all. The next day was my Moms service and Denise greeted us at the door and helped us set up the music, the table was already set up, and she even offered to help out the flowers on the men that were the pal bearers. It was wonderful that they explained to us their tradition of following behind the hurst to the gravesite. On our way to my Moms final resting place my family made note that the gardening that was going on stopped- they showed true respect and paused while my Mother passed them and did not begin again until after our graveside service. At the end of the service a few of us stayed to watch my Mom be lowered. We were then offered to place the first of the soil into the ground. They were so patient with us. I have been to the cemetery many times since that day and every time I am treated with absolute respect. I was called within a few weeks to let me know her death certificate had arrived. We are waiting on my Moms marker to come in so in the interim they have been very nice to leave whatever we place there longer than a week. I see the men working there every time I go and I can see how hard they work but also how much they truly respect their line of work. I look forward to many more years with the staff at memory gardens. Thank you all for all of your compassion. read more

I am extremely disappointed with the service here. We arrived for a burial at a given time and they were unprepared. We had to wait while the crew dug the grave. The staff on hand had to scramble to set up chairs and did not place them anywhere near where the grave side service would be, so when the service finally started the guests had to pick up their chairs and move them themselves. The staff rolled over a canopy and again, left it nowhere near the site of the service. In essence it was rolled out for no reason. It appeared that the staff was untrained and unprofessional. Very disrespectful for the family of the deceased. read more

Our beloved Dad passed away unexpectedly and we were shocked and mortified. Caleb at Memory Garden was so wonderful during this difficult time. He went the extra mile to make sure our father was properly picked up from the hospital and taken to the mortuary in a very respectful and kind way. We needed his death certificate to take care of a legal matter right away and Caleb took the time to get the doctor's signature for us. Caleb did everything for us and made sure we had extra Kleenex boxes too! He was very sensitive to our family's needs. Death in the family is like losing part of your heart and soul. It's nice to know that people like Caleb really care and help you through the grieving process by taking care of us and our Dad's funeral needs. It was a beautiful funeral. Well no one wants to come here, but at some point in our lives we all have to make arrangements for the death of a loved one & this place made it as best as it could be. My husbands grandmother passed away and we had the viewing and funeral here where she was then laid to rest. It was nice that once the body was here it did not have to be moved as we found with other places. They did an amazing job at making her look beautiful & peaceful and gave us adequate space for the viewing. My husband made a slide show we were able to put on the table near to door for people to view. My mother in law brought coffee and chocolates for the guests which they placed in the inner courtyard. The courtyard had pretty flowers and a nice fountain a provided a peaceful environment for the guests who were not in the viewing room. The funeral home also helped us out by arranging for the flower shop they to pick up the flowers after the viewing to keep them fresh for the graveside funeral a few days later. This not only saved us money from having to buy additional flowers and was very thoughtful!! This was just one of the ways they went above and beyond. The graveside funeral service was also very beautiful, quiet, and peaceful. The guests were able to park alongside the graves so they did not have far to walk and it was very convenient. The only thing I am able to complain about is that they only had one women's restroom stall. It was not a problem while we were there, but I could see it being a hassle for larger groups. We look forward to coming back here to visit and feel blessed to have such positive memories of this experience! read more

My parents paid for full funeral services in 2012. My mom died in 3/31/15 and when we went there they couldn't find the paperwork. Then after a search it was found only hand written notes. We finally got things together and did the burial. Mom's head stone was to be place 3 months after the burial. Alas I went by 12/28/15 and the marker hadn't even been ordered much less placed. After paying up front it seems like fraud to not have taken better care of the details. Everything was set up when we got there and it was easy to make an appointment. They handled my father's death with dignity and class. There was no pressure to buy anything more expensive than we wanted. Even when I mistakingly picked "the paper" casket because it was cheap before I realized it was just cardboard the person who helped us did not blink an eye. Of course we went up a few notches and bought a nicer casket. They also arranged everything with Riverside Memorial, 21 gun salute and all. I highly recommend this mortuary. I came for a funeral here and within the 2 hours I was here my car was broken into, they broke my window and stole my purse. Yes I know I shouldn't be leaving my purse in my car but when you're mourning that is the least of your concerns. the worst part was that I was told by a staff member that it had happened before, you'd think they would up their security so people could mourn in peace and be able to come visit their loved ones without having to worry about getting their car broken into. read more

My family and I lost our dear Mother, it happened suddenly and my Mom's wishes was not to make a big deal. My Mom did not want a burial service, which is totally different, my mom wanted to be cremated. My Sister lives in Brea and suggested we visit Memory Garden. I did not know what to expect and did not even think about customer service at a Mortuary, well I was blown away! from the first time we met Crystal, she was so courteous, patient understanding, especially because my brother had so many questions. Crystal was always so professional and made us all feel so calm, she listened to what we had to say and never once interrupted. The video that was put together was the best, it really made us so happy, it portrayed who my Mom was. I suddenly lost my father and we contacted them to do his memorial services. Crystal was the one who "helped" us. I had such a hard time with this chick. She screwed up our service time and told everyone that called regarding my father's service the WRONG time. I specifically told her 10am in the morning but she told everyone 12pm. Then she had the nerve to tell me that that's the time I reserved. My father hated going to church late so I would have never asked for that time slot. After I had to fix that back to the original time I told everyone she then tells me the next day that my dad's death was still under investigation. And that the viewing and service may not happen. She tells me this TWO days before the viewing was going to happen. I was in contact with her for three days before that and she never mentioned it to me. I had to frantically contact my doctor and the coroners office. Things that I was paying the mortuary to do. I had to get it all fixed so that services can still continue. Then last but not least. Crystal showed my a gold plated box to put my fathers ashes in. When I received my fathers ashes and my mom opened up the box he was in a cheap plastic black box. It may seem like a small thing but it upset my mom so much. She was expecting a gold plated box. We went back to the mortuary and we talked to some guy who treated my mom so unprofessionally and was extremely rude. The whole time he tried to tell us how we were wrong and we got what we asked for. But crystal NEVER showed me a black box once she showed me the gold one I said yes that's the one I want so I don't understand why she would write down for a black plastic box. So we bought a different box and it took the guy 25 minutes to transfer my dad's ashes from one to another. I wouldn't have thought anything of it but the walls are paper thin an all you can hear was laughing in the back. They are so unprofessional they made this whole experience even for stressful than it should have been. I regret doing business with them. I hope I stop at least one family from choosing this horrific place for their loved one. I also want to mention that I was told by 2 associates that I'd have my father's death certificates 2 weeks after we initiated the services. Now I'm being told that I'm going to have them a month later. No one called to tell me this, I have to either drive over there or call to get any information. My sister and I recently used Memory Garden for my mother's services and cremation. Our point of contact during this time was Brian. He was a very compassionate person during this difficult time. My family was able to have a private viewing of my mom before she was cremated and we were all little worried as to what she might look like. When we saw her she looked so peaceful. The mortuary cut her hair and applied a little make up so she could look nice for us. Doing this meant a lot to my family. I would highly recommend celebrating a family members final farewell here. read more
