Today is a year since my son in law passed away and we used Community Funeral Services .I am giving…read morethem a 2 star because we chose them , they sold it well. To start the elder lady we dealt with made it sound like she would take care of everything .. but honestly she forgot everything , I had to call her to get updates on what was going on and she never knew she always had to call us back , we talked many times and every time we talked she act like she didn't know us and she had to look for his file and would get back to us! I had to do the foot work , I had to finally find the place to have his services . It was during covid so it was hard to find a place that was big enough to have so many people . So I found a place that would have it outside but that's what I paid them to do ! This is just part of it . Than she tells us we have to pay extra for them to fix him up , it's like playing dress up with your dolls were her exact words , because they might have to do extra to fix him up if it's bad .. we paid extra and we just got a basic report from coroners NOT a full autopsy and they NEVER refunded us for that LIKE THEY SAID !! So prior to the day of the funeral , I told the lady I if there would be a tv I can play a video on and table for flowers and pedestal for his big picture . we get there it's under a tent in the parking lot which she told me it would be outside under a tent because of covid but not in a parking lot !The funeral director guy is there that I never met before and he act like it was his first day on the job ! There was no tv for our video there was no music, there was no pedestal . I was livid , and my daughter is a wreck ! We had the services at white memorial in uptown Whittier but they have nothing to do with it , we went through this unprofessional company that rents out these places so it's up to this Community funerals to make sure everything is done !Has nothing to do with the place which if I would have known better I would have went through white memorial myself and not used a 3rd party ! Ok so he brought out a pedestal and than I ask him where are the flowers , 3 people from the funeral came to me and said there flowers weren't there so he disappeared again looking for the flowers and they were delivered with the funeral that was before ours !! Unheard of ! So they delivered them after the funeral to us at my brothers house where we had the reception ! So because the funeral guy is running around nobody directed the funeral l! The pastor came out to talk and sang, he was great , thank God for him ! But nobody said when it was time for people to come up and view , I had to find the guy to tell people to come up and view him . It was sooo unprofessional and so embarrassing! Now back to the prayer cards I paid for ! Well the funeral service guy forgot them !So by the time they got there the funeral was over and people had already left . ThanknGod we had made prayer cards from another company also with his picture on it . I have never ever ever heard of this happening , this day should have been without stress of the arrangements considering g we were already going through hell , my daughter lost her husband , her best friend , my grand daughter lost her dad , an amazing man that stepped up to be her dad and he deserved sooo much more than this !! We never even got an apology until I emailed the owner man which I never even met through the whole process ! But I did email him after a couple of months because after the funeral it was hectic I moved my daughter and grand daughter back in with me . My only regret besides using this place was not writing a review so others can know what we went through , I know things happen and I am first to let things go but not this many mistakes and not on such an important day . I made sure my daughter didn't have to worry about all this but I didn't even get to grieve my son In law in this day because I was too busy chasing around the funeral director guy . Today is a year he passed and I won't let another day go by without writing my review.

I felt so comfortable knowing Harold would be there with us every step of the way . The time of passing came I called Harold and he said when you are ready to release her from our home call me back and we will come . They came two young men in suits . As they entered my room they asked by her name, if they should cover her face as they took her out of my room, or just cover her like she was sleeping ! I was so amazed at the thoughtfulness of their question. She was gently and quietly removed from my room . She was placed in the van . Peacefully, our hearts watched her leave our hill as tradition goes we wave till you are out of view - the attendants honored our sister by slowing as they made the turn from view ,in life it's the simple things, that meant so much ! Harold and his staff were compassionate, They made this transition lovingly easy for me ! They took great care of my precious loved one ! It took me 7 years too write this...

The communication was always flawless, they returned every single call right away whenever we had a question. We felt that we were taken care of with a lot of dignity and considering the huge cost of dying now a days ,the pricing was fair. Youd think at a time like this that wouldnt be an issue and you'd be more understanding. Since death waits for noone, things had to be rushed along because the next customer who wants going anywhere had to come in. Anyway the funeral was beautiful. An overflowed house. It sucks to see anyone younger than you go. Nice place. The grounds are well kept. If i was planning on being buried id consider this place.
