Went here for a Saturday afternoon lunch. It was our first and possibly last visit. We sat on the outdoor patio with a lovely view of the bay which was the only "lovely " experience we had. The service was beyond slow. Fifty minutes for two luncheon entrees and a bottle of sparkling water and the patio was not busy. Catering a private party perhaps? The chicken rollatini was dry and tasteless. the mozzarella cheese was on top (!!). instead of inside and the Marcella mushroom sauce was watery and tasted like it was out of a can. The mushrooms were tasty which was all that was worth eating. Needless to say don't order the chicken rollatini. I had chicken pilliard which the arugula salad was decent though again the chicken was dry and tasteless. We told the waiter who kindly offered to replace the rollatini but after waiting nearly an hour my dining partner who was hungry declined his kind invitation. We paid full price for the lunch. ($70) Disappointing all the way around. We are NYC diners having recently moved to the area, but come on, guys! Lombardi's: Don't bother giving your generic response. This review is for their thanksgiving dinner only. We went to Lombardis last year for thanksgiving and enjoyed it. We had decided to do take out this year so we ordered dinners to go. I was very disappointed with my meal this year. The salad that comes with the dinner had no dressing. I understand putting the dressing on the side so it doesn't get soggy but I wasn't given any dressing on the side. There was no cranberry sauce included with the dinners as was advertised with the meal. None at all. Also, there was barely any gravy . At $50.00 a plate it's ridiculous that we didn't receive everything as advertised. We won't be coming back next year. read more

This review is for the weekly Sunday Brunch Buffet. Made reservations for our party of 7 & were seated immediately, the room was clean & bright with a wonderful view of the water. We were served Coffee, Tea, mimosas and sodas & made multiple trips to the buffet. Everything was cooked to perfection, you name it, they had it, raw bar, cheese bar, chocolate fountain, omelets, waffles, French toast to chicken & eggplant, every imaginable dessert too. Didn't even go in. I wanted to bring my pregnant wife here for dinner and the parking lot was full. The parking attendant was rude and "couldn't tell" me anywhere else to park and there was no street parking available for a mile-plus. I was not going to make my pregnant wife make that walk. Completely unacceptable. Not sure how they expect people to eat there with no parking (but a reservation). Wouldnt give my money to a restaurant that doesn't care about their customers. read more

I treated 13 family members to Christmas Eve buffet . Last year I did the same and enjoyed it. However this year was just not the same.first I will explain why I am commenting on yelp. I wrote on the Lombardi website and explained how embarrassed I was after bragging what a great time and ample great food we were to expect. The food was not what I was used to from Lombardi's and every time one of my guests went up for food, the trays were empty or close to it. The selection of food was also scant . The response was,"more is on its way". I don't spend seven hundred dollars to have to come back and forth for my meal. That comment I wrote was the same night Dec 24, it is now Dec 31 and I have been ignored. Another comment was written and was handled the same way. I have gone to Lombardis on the bay for many years and it has always been consistently good. My last experience was awful. The food was okay but the service was beyond abominable from beginning to end, though no fault of the server, Cindy, who did her very best to cover for horrendous management. (It was her fifth day). Our drink order was a disaster as my husband waited 45 minutes for his beer. The flow of the service was bad. My out of town guest did not get her food with the other guests. The banging music from the wedding was annoying. The table did not have a tablecloth and did not have sufficient forks, plates, etc. I was embarrassed because I wanted to take my guests to a nice, upscale restaurant. They did send over a dessert on the house. But it was an overall unpleasant experience. read more

I knew going in that the food would be good. I've eaten at Mama Lombardi and Villa Lombardi many times, and had a sandwich or two at the Market. We went for dinner tonight, hoping to sit outside, but there was a 45 minute wait so we sat in the middle area, between the main restaurant and the patio, the room with the huge, square bar in the middle of the room. Our waiter was an older Italian gentleman, and was a real gentleman. We both liked him a lot. We shared the baked shrimp appetizer and it was delicious. 4 butterflied shrimp, basically scampi. Tons of garlic and butter - awesome. My wife had the swordfish and I had the Chilean sea bass. I've never had a piece (2 small pieces, actually) of fish like this before. It was so tasty and so delicate! It literally melted in my mouth. The swordfish was smothered in veggies, tomatoes, olives, sun-dried tomatoes and was cooked perfectly. This place ain't cheap. One beer each, one shared appetizer and dinner was $120. The quality and the experience made it worth it, but not a place we would frequent due to the price. We will likely check out the place on the sound next and maybe will come back here for brunch sooner than later. It was a great meal with a great waiter. read more

Four of us went tonight. It took two hours for food to appear. Stuffed flounder arrived barely warm and tasteless. Waiter asked if I wanted a green salad or cesaer. There was an upcharge for cesaer which he failed to mention. The clams and liguini arrived undercooked. We were compted dessert and coffee but it hardly made up for the time and mediocre food. We usually go to Mamma Lombardi's in Holbrook, but decided to go here instead. It was a Beautiful Tuesday evening. The staff was welcoming and attentive, the food was delicious. I had a very nice cocktail, dinner, and they served me a wonderful tiramisu for my birthday. Of course the serving sizes could feed a small family, which we happily took home. It is a more relaxed atmosphere. I will definitely come back! read more

Food here was pretty good. Came here with a group of six. The food is pretty expensive but the portions the give justify most of the prices. The service is what's okay. Waiters were not to attentive and seemed very forgetful of our orders as they kept coming back to double check. The seafood was fresh it just took a while to come out. Took us about 60-70 minutes for our whole party to get our food. The food is average which isn't bad. But it's not amazing. Was very disappointed took some there for there birthday and service and food was poor Simple things like asked for ketchup and tartar sauce by the time we got it food was cold. Fried shrimp was dry and fish sandwhich was all bread and when it came out it looked it was thrown on the plate. Eggplant parmesan was good but not hot neither was the pasta that it came with. Since the covit it is less customers so why would service be so bad. And also the waiter where to busy talking rather then coming to see if we needed anything like more coffee or water. Go here if you want to wait an extremely long time for your food. My boyfriend was hoping to take me on a lovely dinner date and we decided to try out the new Lombardi's location. We both love Mamma Lombardi's, so we thought it was going to be great. We got to the restaurant at 4pm, very early for dinner on a weekend. We wanted to sit outdoors and see the bay view, but their limited seating outside caused us to wait for half an hour. We didn't mind at all. We went outside to the outdoor bar they had and had a drink while we waited. About half an hour later, we were sat. That was at 4:30pm. We examined the menu and quickly decided what we wanted, so we placed our menus down on our laps (the outdoor tables are extremely small so there wasn't really room for them on the table) and chatted for a while. A long while. About 20 minutes later my boyfriend was about to tap the back of a waiter waiting on the neighboring table when he came over himself to ask if we were being served. We said no with a smile, and he apologized and said he'd be back for us. Shortly after that he came over, apologized again, and took our order. We ordered 2 drinks, an appetizer, a pasta dish and a 12oz steak, medium rare. In about 10 minutes we received our drinks. Then we sat, staring around. There was a cover band playing rather loudly, so it was difficult to have a conversation but we rocked out a little to the band and watched people a few feet from us at the bar. It was about 5:15 or so when we finally received our appetizer-- we'd been seated for about 45 minutes by then. The sympathetic waiter offered some balsamic for the appetizer we were about to eat, and walked away to go get it. He never came back with it. He took our finished appetizer away and we waited for our main course. 6:15, AN HOUR after our appetizer came, the waiter came to us and told us for about the fifth time that our food was going to be out in just a matter of minutes. At 6:35, as we were about to leave and go to the little crab shack next door in frustration, our food was served. My pasta was fine, but my boyfriend complained his steak was cold. It was probably sitting out for the 2 hours after we ordered. Mind you, this whole time we were cheerful and as polite as we could be. The waiter volunteered to get the manager to perhaps take something off the bill, but it never happened even after we agreed it was a good idea. By that time we had been there for far too long, the cover band was now far too annoying and I was freezing my ass off too much to bother to fight it. On our way out, the valet parkers parked a BMW in the MIDDLE of the exit so no one could get in or out and walked right past us without even acknowledging our presence. Once that car was passed we had to wait another five minutes as another incompetent valet tried to park a car in an impossibly small spot. They all made a joke out of it and again did not acknowledge us for having to wait. It was by far the worst dining experience I've ever had, which saddens me because I really have enjoyed other Lombardi's locations. Oh well. read more

We recently had an extremely disappointing family brunch that I feel compelled to share. My family and I have eaten here in the past and typically have a decent experience, so we thought it would be a solid option for an early Mother's Day celebration. However, this last visit was truly unforgivable. Overall, the food was basic quality, salty but a good variety of choices. The seating was hectic and very tight (which I understand, since it's a busy place) but it was also the worst service I have experienced in years. I've had better service at Chipotle. Piles of dirty plates that were neglected to be cleared from our table, untrained waitstaff who were unaccommodating, unknowledgeable and even spilled on me when refilling our beverages without apology. After about an hour of being seated, our server hastily brought the check while we were still eating our food. Confused and feeling unnecessarily rushed, we asked for coffee before paying the check. After being denied by our server, we were essentially yelled at by another waiter to leave, saying "our time was up". Seriously? What kind of establishment treats their customers like that? I immediately spoke with the manager who kindly brought us coffee and gave the normal "I'm so sorry, this is inexcusable behavior" speech, but come on...Mind you, my family is proper, respectful and collected, and there was nothing we did to warrant such rude treatment. We were all shocked and truly disappointed and just wanted to treat Mom to a nice afternoon together. It's a shame that Lombardi's does not value their customers. I don't know why this Long Island staple has gone so downhill, but it's truly a shame because we will no longer consider this venue for our future fundraisers, weddings, or family events - and will be sure to share this feedback with our friends on the island. read more

Very disappointed in tonight's experience. Food was ok, we sat in the bar area to be near the water, the music was very loud, it was extremely cold inside. Our food came out and a lot of things were missing from our orders. My friends steak which was 44.00 was grizzelie and tuff to chew, not to mention served with no sides, just the steak on the plate. When she brought this to the managers attention, he was very accusatory toward my friend . We asked for additional drinks, they never came. Brian and I usually agree on our reviews but Lombardi's has us a bit stumped. We've been there twice and have not been able to reconcile our opinions so we're agreeing to disagree. The facts: Lombardi's has a following on the North Shore of the island (Lombardi's on the Sound). Their foray to the South Shore and the Great South Bay follows the departure of Louis XVI, whose beautiful waterfront location they took over. Louis was sophisticated, elegant and romantic. It was a gastronomical feast and a financial indulgence. Louis was...frequently empty. In contrast, Lombardi's is one big, happy, noisy party and the crowds and long lines prove that the business is out there for the right price. Where Louis reserved the magnificent outdoor space overlooking the bay for weddings and private receptions, Lombardi's opened it for regular dining when there are no functions and even installed an outdoor bar. We both loved Louis above most restaurants but we always felt they were wrong on this point and Lombardi's is right. Portions at Lombardi's are HUGE and, for the most part, tasty. We've tried the Beet Salad with walnuts and goat cheese (huge and tasty), the Classic Caesar Salad (huge and tasty) and the Loaded Iceberg Wedge salad with smoked bacon and crumbled blue cheese (huge, a bit old-fashioned and a potential heart attack on a plate but tasty). Another huge salad, a "special" of Mediterranean vegetables and grilled shrimp unfortunately missed the mark with overly large chunks of veggies and weak dressing but an entree of Chilean Sea Bass was expertly prepared (and, yes it was huge) and the Rigatoni with Mamma's Meatballs was cooked exactly right...and huge :) Desserts...well...we love desserts and we're sure they have some but there was just no way to attempt it and still keep breathing. Lombardi's does not accept reservations and they fill up early and fast on warm evenings. But if you don't mind the wait, either the indoor or outdoor bars make for delightful people watching while you're sipping a cocktail, eating bar nuts and waiting for your table. Brian's opinion: He didn't appreciate the all-you-can eat mentality and the diners that welcome that sort of experience. He was extremely put off by the crowded, noisy wait for a table and the restaurant's perceived mentality of quantity over a more complex palate. My opinion: Although I, too, disliked the lack of reservations, crowds and wait time none bothered me to the same extent as my partner in life, love and food. And, although I am way too small to ever finish any dish at Lombardi's, I don't mind taking half of it home with me. I miss Louis very much but I love having the greater access to the water that Lombardi's provides and I think it's a lovely place to spend a summer's evening. Had dinner here last night with very good friends. Arrived at 6pm for a 6pm reservation. The valet was VERY helpful in assisting us with one in our party as he was limited to an assistive device only. The hostess was very friendly and we were able to get to our seating promptly even though we were JUST on time. Our servers were very nice and mostly attentive to our needs. When we first arrived, it was somewhat busy, but the restaurant seemed to be working pretty efficiently. However, as time went on, and the busier it became, it was obvious to see some of the frustrations on the wait staff, hostesses, and management. I would say the worst part of the experience here was watching open discussion/disagreement between the workers. Personally, it made me feel uncomfortable. And it always seemed to happen right in front of our table. So, I ordered one of the specials, the Cod Fra Diavalo. It took a long time for our meals to come to the table, and mine was the last to come out about 5 minutes after everyone else's meals arrived. The Cod was extremely well prepared, and melted in my mouth. I couldn't have asked for a better piece of fish. However, the Fra diavalo part; not so much. I understand that lots of diners do not like a spicy dish, but there was no spicy heat to this whatsoever. The size of the meal was more than ample and I could not finish it all. Everyone at our table had their meals wrapped up. Unfortunately, I was so full from the meal that I could not order a dessert. Such a shame because the table next to us had some wonderful looking chocolate desserts. I settled for a Bailey's Coffee and was very happy with that. I think I'd like to try this restaurant again during the week when perhaps it's not so busy. read more

Came here with my lady on a beautiful July evening. We parked our car in the parking area juxtaposed to the street and moseyed our way over to the restaurant . We were greeted by a hostess. I hate to be judgemental considering I only saw her for a brief time, but she appeared to be a little snooty, not asking for our preference on indoor or outdoor seating and looked irritated when we requested outside. Anyway, that did not sully my mood or damper my excitement to try this fine establishment. We were seated outside and enjoyed a decent view of the bay. It was peaceful and calm... until the door next to the restaurant opened up. Apparently they do weddings and special events here in addition to casual dining. Our luck, it was a sweet 16... so we enjoyed dance music and lil jon songs all night long. Could be worse.... maybe Conway Twitty songs? We were soon met by our server Bryan who was a real gent. He started us off with beverages while we reviewed the menus. He warned us about the portions being large but I don't think we fully realized how much food was going to come our way. We ordered the seafood sampler for an appetizer, steaks for our entrees (which came with salads) and sides of mac and cheese and mashed taters. The seafood sampler came with a mountain of mussels, a decent helping of calamari and just a couple of clams. It was tasty assortment of mixed seafood. It was a good start, just a lot of food. Then the steaks came and were just as dauntingly massive. The steaks were really good though so it was hard to put the fork down. I had the seasoned rib eye and it was magnificent. My lady had the fillet Mignon and she was equally satisfied. Needless to say we left with leftovers and huge bellys. No room for dessert. Overall the food was very good, prices were reasonable, and the atmosphere was nice (aside from the sweet 16). I recommend. BTW- No reservations - just for brunch. read more

Went here last night with the family for Easter dinner and was overall pleased with the experience. The service was very attentive, the food was good, and the noise level wasn't bad at all. On top of all that, we were seated right by the window and had an excellent view of the bay. It's a pretty classy establishment and one should make an effort to dress up and look somewhat presentable. When we were seated for dinner, we sat in the main dining area adjacent to the large and loud bar. Meals were very good and the staff was friendly and professional. We will be back! read more

I went here a few weeks back, but I still remember my experience because it was that great. The restaurant wasn't packed so we were able to sit by the window that over looked the bay. It was a fantastic view especially when the sun was coming down. Super romantic!!! They also offered outside seating, but we stayed inside. Our server was very attentive. Not only was he attentive, he was very informative- answered all our questions about the menu including the specials. The place is large, beautiful, and has multiple flat screens so it's a little modern as well. Food was delicious with large portions. The menu is very pricey. Everything is a la carte so don't expect a potato with your steak. Whatever it says on the menu is exactly what you get even though other restaurants offer a potato and a vegetable de jour with their meals. It's hard to find parking in that area. We were lucky that it wasn't busy or we wouldn't have found parking or had to park a block away. However, I heard that they do have valet parking during the weekends. I had a great experience at this restaurant. It is a more refined place to eat so looking presentable is a must. I definitely look forward to returning and having another great experience. read more

The service was terrible. We sat down, we're given bread and then realized we had no utensils and no one to ask for some. We ordered our food but we're never informed of the specials, we only knew there was specials after we ordered and other tables were told them. I ordered the beet salad with no walnuts (allergy) and dressing on the side. My salad came with dressing on and walnuts, the waiter was very professional and took it away right away and my utensils that touched the walnuts so that did impress me. But, I did order it without them... Our waters we're never refilled so I went my whole meal with no drink and no one to ask for a refill, no one even looked our way. It took a long time to flag down our waiter to get the check. The food was delicious but the service needs help. Also their floors are extremely slippery. They had carpet runner on parts of the floor but random spots not covered, almost slipped a few times even with walking very carefully. read more

I'm actually surprised that Lombardis on the Bay only has 3 stars! I've been here several times and each time the food has been delicious! Ribeye and "Lombardis potatoes" were outstanding. Veal chop with crispy sautéed veggies was delicious. This was after the super fresh mozzarella with tomato and salad that was not your typical bland house salad. We were extremely happy with our meal. One star off for service. I'm not a fan of the younger workers that seem entitled (as opposed to the clearly hard working ones) and overheard the hostesses telling a customer why they did not love working for Lombardis (the customer asked if they liked working here). No goodbye or acknowledgement from the same hostesses as we walked out after dinner too. Our waitress however was fantastic (Hayley) but we did wait a bit to order food. She was sweet and attentive and offered to bring our coffee/dessert to us on the patio when we decided to move our table outside. Even though we lounged for 30 minutes she did not rush us at all. Pros: food, wine selection, view, outdoor patio Cons: it gets crowded, even on weekdays. The dining room can get cramped too. read more

I must first say that I almost never give places 5 stars however, Lombardis on the bay has got to be on of the best overall experiences we've had as of late. From the massive "bone-in" 28oz steak with 5 cheese Mac-n-cheese which was unbelievable, to the Chilean sea bass that my girl had...this place was top notch. The food, heck even the bread they give you was excellent. Decently priced, we were able to get lucky and get seated literally right over the water with a full moon right above us. So, great tasting food, wonderful ambiance, attentive and pleasant staff, we plan on going back there very soon. read more

This is probably my 8th time here and it's been downhill recently. Used to love this place. The atmosphere is great and elegant. The past 2 times coming here have been bad experiences. The service is terrible. Forgetting drinks and food taking a long time to come out. Not only that but the fried calamari was very over cooked. The salad was drenched with balsalmic dressing to the point where I had to dump out all the excess onto another plate. Sadly, I think this is my last time coming here. read more

I'm only giving this one star for the view. The wait to be seated was unbearable, they don't take reservations. The service was friendly but inconsistent. We had to wait for the main course so long we asked for more bread three times before they brought some apologizing that they ran out of bread. They brought us dinner rolls that literally tasted like bagged hamburger rolls. Wtf... What restaurant runs out if bread!! It went downhill from there. The food was ehhh, lobster is not even split, had to ask for butter, which never came. The prices are high for mediocre food, poor service, long wait, but a beautiful bay view. Will not be going back... EVER!!! read more

For our 10 year anniversary My wife and I took the family to Lombardi's On the bay and we unfortunately had the single worst dining experience we have ever had in our lives. It began with the waitress not coming to our table for 15 minutes, but this was put behind us and forgotten by the time the very good appetizers of broiled oysters and tomato and mozzarella were finished. We ordered porterhouse for two, medium rare, and when it came it was closer to medium well. My wife called the waiter over and pointed out the over cooked meat, apologies were given by the waitress and we were waiting for a redo of the steak. The manager came over, told me it would take 20 minutes to redo and were we willing to wait, we said yes, although not thrilled at the situation these things happen. If the story ended there I would not bother with a review but unfortunately it did not. The manager then tells me he is an award winning chef and the steak that was delivered was medium rare and we were wrong to send it back. After an unbelievably long and unnecessary disagreement about the over cooked porterhouse another one was served. This time the steak came out rare (cold to the touch - see picture I have included). I showed him the error, he told me it was border line medium rare, I told him to pack it to go, paid the full bill and left. I finished cooking at home and it was good. I have never been more insulted at any restaurant and would not go back under any circumstance. The manger was rude, condescending and arrogant. There are many fine dinning restaurants in the area, do yourself a favor and skip this one. read more

I was very surprised not see chicken parm on the menu. I was really in the mood for this dish so when I asked the waiter about it he said they couldn't make anything else besides what was on the menu. OK, I can deal. My wife had the stuffed Lobster. Stuffing was delicious, however, the lobster was supposed to be 1.5 pounds and was way smaller than that and the lobster was a cull and only had one claw. When we asked the waiter about the size of the lobster he said maybe the 1.5 pounds was after being stuffed. This was after waiting about 90 minutes for our dinners, no apps, just a salad and dinner. Our waiter seemed as if he were a sleazy used car salesperson. He referred to the owners as nasty, horrible and sucks to work for. View was beautiful as we sat outside on the waterfront deck. Waves splashing up watching the sun go down was great. Good luck finding parking. There was one small lot with enough spaces to fit 30 cars or so. Everyone was complaining to the hostess that they couldn't find a spot and didn't know where to go. Overall: Beautiful view, waited almost 90 minutes for food, no parking, food was so-so. read more
