This is a unique little place that, surprisingly, doesn't serve any lobster. I really enjoyed the bee hive appetizer- the goat cheese had hints of garlic, and the apple and honey complemented very well. The bread was toasted well, not too crunchy or dry. I got the shrimp po boy with no tomatoes, and was very happy with it!The shrimp was meaty and well spiced. The whole sandwich had lots of flavor and actually was spicier than the usual po boy. My one complaint is that rather than the usual sub-type bread, they used ciabatta, which made it a bit messier to eat and also seemed a bit thicker and drier than the ideal. We also got a big fat slice of chocolate almond cake, which was not too sweet! I also wish they had more dessert options, but their one option was well executed. All in all, it was a delicious meal for a wonderful price, and the service was very friendly. If I'm ever back in town, I would definitely come again! read more

This place was really good! We went there today for a late lunch/early dinner. The happy hour prices meant half-price mussels and $2 off already reasonably priced draughts. It wasn't terribly busy since it was an odd time, and our server was fast, pleasant and attentive. As mentioned, we got the mussels in dijon cream broth, and also the beet carpaccio and a white pizza. Everything was really delicious. The dijon broth on the mussels was really good and not overpowering. The pizza was hot and the crust was perfect. The salad was very fresh. Lompoc is the type of restaurant that puts thought and creativity into their recipes. The drinks are bold and refreshing. We loved every bite and sip. Food: I had the best fish sandwich I've ever eaten (quality haddock filet, cooked right and served with a sweet slaw). The dijon sriracha mussels were incredible. The Bishop (pizza with garlic harassi, bacon and ricotta) was incredibly flavorful. Drinks: Dilly bean martini. This was a generously sized drink with top shelf vodka, picked dilly beans (green beans) that had a flavor profile similar to a dirty martini with a kick. I would have snacked on the pickled dilly beans! Beet street band. Ever had a beet shrub? This is a light and refreshing variant with more citrus. The beet gives it an earthy, complex flavor which is balanced by a kick of lemon juice and yet another generous pour of top shelf vodka. Service: We loved Zoe, our server. She was knowledgeable and personable. We asked questions about the menu, the history of the restaurant, and little about her story. As is so often the case, the people make the memory and Zoe helped make our experience unforgettable. read more

The wife (meaghan s.) and I hit Lompoc just about every time we're in Bar Harbor. By that, I don't mean we go once on every trip to the Acadia NP area; I mean we go to Lompoc Cafe just about every day we are in or around downtown Bar Harbor. Spicy dijon mussels, every time. Special Old Bitter (my favorite of the Atlantic Brewing Company offerings), every time. Often it is not crowded, which confuses me. The outdoor seating (mostly covered, some open-air) is great, and I consistently enjoy defacing the bathroom with the provided chalk. All good things! read more

Eat. Here. We stumbled across Lompoc randomly with low expectations... Based on the mediocre dinners at "the best" places in Bar Harbor. This is the best food/ambiance/staff we experienced downtown during our week in town. We placed our order solely based on recommendations from Zoe (our server) and she nailed it. We started with the ricotta fritters, which were tasty and unique. The fish chowder was the first in town that was from scratch (weird... Considering that we are in seafood heaven). We were looking for a place in Bar Harbor that was a little bit different (not a steakhouse, not pub food, etc.) and we decided to take a chance on the Lompoc Cafe and it was one of the best meals we've had in Bar Harbor. We had the Spinach and Artichoke dip as an appetizer - it was probably the best Spinach and Artichoke dip I've ever had. They used local yogurt and fresh artichokes. Absolutely delicious. For an entree I had the Shrimp and Grits. I took a chance on it and it was amazing. Grits with cheddar cheese, Maine Shrimp, bacon and fresh cherry tomatoes. It also came with some crispy baked kale that was a great compliment to the rich and creamy grits. The place is also really cool, we sat on the patio and watched some folks play bocce on their court. Very intimate place. Next time we're in Bar Harbor we're definitely going back! read more

Lompoc Cafe is a great spot for good food, good beer, and a nice mix of tourists and locals. We were there twice during our July 4th trip: once for beer, and once for dinner on the 4th. It was raining outside, and our server happily let us pass two and a half hours in the restaurant while we waited for fireworks. During our trip, we tried Lompoc, McKays (also excellent), Side Street Cafe, and Cafe This Way. If I were to visit only one again, it would be Lompoc. The mussels, as everyone says, are delicious. We also tried the Beehive (I'm pretty sure that was the name; the online menu doesn't seem to include everything), which was excellent. For entrees, my friend had the Shrimp and Grits, and he cleaned the plate. My boyfriend had the burger (nothing too special, but scratches a carnivore itch), a side salad, and an order of grits, which were a real highlight. I had the Bang Bang, which was great: all white meat and not too much breading. The slaw on top is vinegar, not mayonaise, based, so the sandwich isn't too heavy. read more

I love this place & have been going here for so long, I couldn't tell you how many years. Well over 12 or more! The reason I love this particular place, is to be able to sit outside, the arrangement of trees, flowers, tables in a setting that's quiet, off the beaten path with simple foods, that are healthy (!) & really good. They don't have a large menu, but what they do serve is very good & the atmosphere's just entirely peaceful:-) Dress is casual, you can walk in wearing anything & you feel you've left the chaos behind because it's so nicely sheltered in off Cottage Street, which is very busy. read more

I had the best meal of my life here. My boyfriend and I both ordered the lobster club, which was delicious. But the appetizers had me in seventh heaven. We ordered the pickle snack, cup of chowder, mussels in Dijon sauce, and the beehive. The pickle snack was a little bowl of cilantro pickles and dilly beans (dill pickled green beans). I am a big fan of pickles and both were great. The chowder was not super thick, which I liked. It was an overall good cup of soup. The mussels were fantastic. They were cooked well and the Dijon cream sauce was rich and flavorful. They give you bread to dip into the sauce and needless to say we devoured it all. The real star for me was the beehive. It's goat cheese with chunks of roasted garlic folded in and drizzled with honey. It is served with a delicious bread. The flavors together blew me away. I couldn't get enough of it. It is a relatively simple dish but it tastes like heaven. The prices were more than fair ($20 for the lobster, $9 for the bigger appetizers). The outdoor seating area was beautiful. It did start to rain so we had to move inside toward the end of the meal. Service was a little slow, but well worth the wait. read more

We lucked out when we ended up at the Lumpoc because another restaurant's wait time was over an hour. We were seated right away and enjoyed a quiet spacious atmosphere on the patio. My husband said the pulled pork was terrific, and the Southern dinner salad I had was likewise delicious. Very fresh and full of candied nuts (I seem to recall they were pecans) and spicy fried chicken thighs. Entertainment was provided by a group of twenty-somethings playing bocce. I loved that there was a lovely Samoyed resting quietly nearby while her owner dined. read more

We both had good meals, attractively presented by an attentive waitress. The Greek pizza had a nice thin crust and a tasty set of toppings, flavorful feta mozzerella cheeses to finish. The fried fish was perfect, it is so easy to over-cook fish but this was light and flakey. Generous pour of wine in a nice stemless wine glass, liked it. Good draft beer too. On the down side, they need to wash their windows! They could be serving the greatest food in town but the dingy window drag the atmosphere down, especially now, late spring, early summer when the sun does not set until late. We used to love the Lompoc but every year it seems like it goes a little more downhill. I do still like the sandwiches (especially the bang bang fried chicken and the lobster club) but just about everything else was lackluster this past time around. My biggest complaint was the Indian lobster cake appetizer...it arrived with a couple of barely detectable specks of lobster. My cocktail was also a disappointment--tasted like some pretty bad liquor was used. Although the prices are reasonable, when in gets right down to it we had much better meals during the rest of our stay in Bar Harbor for just a tad more money. Really the worst thing this time around though was the service. Our waitress would disappear inside for long periods of time, even though the restaurant wasn't very busy. We were also seated near the hostess stand outside--the young hostess apparently felt bored mid-evening and also disappeared. We watched at least 4 parties arrive and then decide to leave since no one was there to greet them...it was ridiculous! Next year I'll be trying somewhere new in my Bar Harbor dinner rotation. read more

This place...oh my goodness where to even begin...it was so delicious! Not only was all of the food homemade (if not there then across the street at a local bakery), the ambiance was delightful and oh did I mention the food was amazing??? Going out in Bar Harbor can be tough because a lot of the restaurants cater to tourists, are over priced and underwhelming. The food here was well priced with large portions and was interestingly unique. We started with the mussels in a Dijon cream sauce which came with grilled ciabatta bread. I could have drank the sauce like a soup. I then had the shrimp po' boy with a side salad. There is nothing worse in this world than an iceberg lettuce run of the mill side salad with Ken's dressing. But here they had a large pile of fresh spring greens with a homemade shallot vinaigrette which was a perfect accouterments to the large and insanely delicious sandwich. My companions had the lobster salad which, for the price of $16, had a ton of lobster salad on it and was lightly dressed so the lobster really stood out, and the lamb shwarma which was so flavor my taste buds did a little dance. The rose wine option was also quite delish. While we were enjoying this fine meal a guitar player played in the Christmas light lit courtyard a soft tune straight out of a Parisian cafe. Yet even with this music playing this was one of the quieter restaurants I've been to which is hard to find in a world where open concepts with noisy kitchens is all the rage. It felt like we were eating in a little tree house, handmade beautiful cloth napkins included! If it hadn't just rained we would have even enjoyed ourselves a little friendly competition on the bocce court outside, alas it was a bit too muddy. All in all great spot, I can not wait to come back here! If you have eaten at Silly's in Portland, I would say this place is equal in comparison with a more refined atmosphere and menu. read more

We really enjoyed our dinner at Lompoc. We sat on the patio and enjoyed being off the Main Street. We shared the veggies and pita with peanut sauce as a starter. The pita was very tasty, definitely home made, and the peanut sauce was wonderful. Then we had a Caesar salad, which was good and not overdressed, but a pretty standard Caesar. Then we shared the pizza with goat cheese, garlic, artichokes and red peppers. We loved it. It was a nice change from the seafood we had been eating the last four days. We love this place. We discovered it the last time when we were in Bar Harbor 2 years ago. Everything on the menu sounds appealing so it is hard to order! We started with appetizers of peanut sauce/veggies and goat cheese. Delicious! I had the falafel burger with gluten free bread. Although it was smaller than the one i had 2 years ago, it was still amazing. Bun was soft (i almost wonder if it was gluten free!). we also had bahn-mi with tofu and pork. the tofu was seasoned well and we actually preferred that over the pork. Our waitress was super friendly and attentive. Seating in the outside is very pleasant and highly recommended. My only complaint was that the hostess was a little abrupt and not friendly - perhaps it was because it was a busy night so i will give her the benefit of the doubt. :-) read more

The outdoor area of this pub has it's own bocce ball area which was very cool and a rarity at a bar! Half of the place is open to the outdoors and designed with wood giving it a log cabin type feel. Very different and a great atmosphere. I had a great time drinking here. read more

Came here on a nice Sunday night, the outdoor area is really nice, I like the large tree rather than having umbrellas at each table. The place certainly has a hipster vibe. When I walked in there wasn't really anyone to guide me what do and I kind of walked around confused for a minute before I just sat at a table and was taken care of, but I figure Sunday nights are their busiest. I got a drink (the Svekda, iced tea, and lemonade), it was pretty good, fairly strong, and sufficiently large for $7. I also got the Bam Bam Chicken Sandwich which was okay, nothing fantastic, the chicken was good, but the slaw on the sandwich was just purple cabbage with some mayonnaise, it was a lazy attempt at slaw. Fries were better than average. All in all, its a good place to go but I don't think I'd visit twice. read more

Providing one of my favorite meals in Bar Harbor, Lompoc Cafe was a great yelp recommendation. It's not tecnically a microbrewery, but they push the Atlantic Brewing Company brews and it has that eclectic cuisine feel of a microbrewery. I tell you, after driving five hours in the rain to get to Bar Harbor from Boston, those beers were tasty. Especially the blueberry and the bitter. As for food, good mussels, a fun funky brie pizza, delicious beef stew--no complaints, and great service to boot. The next time I'm up in Bar Harbor, I'm coming back. read more
