Ok i've never had a torta and i've never had potato tacos...At first i was like hmmm potato tacos what's so special about that?? I quickly found out Ummm they're freaking delicious!! This place is like a torta truck. It has different options for tortas. I got the combo 1/2 asada torta that came with 2 potato tacos. It was delicious, but messy. My boyfriend got the 1/2 carnitas torta and 2 potato tacos with medium spice, and he's usually the one who can handle spice, but it was SPICY! He also doesn't like potatoes but he likes the potato tacos, so that says something... the flan was also delicious after eating the spicy food. It's location is in the chevron parking lot, so parking can be limited. There's a tent where you can sit. You have to buy drinks at the gas station. **Updated Review** I rarely update initial reviews unless something changed that I feel like I should address, in this particular case for Loncheria Otro Rollo I am really disappointed because it's a food truck I always recommend to anyone. My initial review rated them at 5 Stars, but with my recent experience it drops them to a 3 unfortunately. My wife and I came for lunch yesterday as we were running errands around town, we haven't had some potato tacos in a long time so we were excited, and we are seldom on this side of White Lane. We pull up and I notice their canopy that is attached to the food truck is not up but I can only assume since the weather has been cold, shade is not a customer's friend. I also noticed that only one of their tables are set up, the other is still folded, tied up and bound to their truck, I found that odd since they are always ready to go to serve the customer. We approach the window and start placing our order, first thing we notice is the owner who is usually there is not the one taking the order, matter of fact she is not there at all, no biggie though just surprised. If you've been here you know the routine is order, get your food and pay then eat or take home. We ordered two orders of potato tacos that are 3 each, of course drenched in their chile sauce and with carnitas, maybe the change of staff, but it took longer than I am accustomed to but hey, these potato tacos are damn good so the wait was no bother. Our food is ready and they start handing the plates to us and my wife tries to hand her card but they say, no eat then pay. We are not comfortable with that process, we always either pay first or pay when we get our food but they were pushy. They took our payment only because I stated, there is not a place to sit, we have to eat in our car and I don't want to pay after. They didn't seem to like it but had no choice. Now other than being pushy about payment this is the other differences in service, every single time we have come, they service sliced potatoes whether you ate at the tables or took it home, I look forward to it each time but that is very minor. The fact that they knew their one table was full and the other was still tied up but didn't offer to set it up was disappointing. No one else was in line, maybe a phone order? But why wouldn't you accommodate your customers? It wouldn't take long to unfold the table, toss the cloth on top and open up the chairs, it would have made the world of a difference to me and here is the reason why. Their chile sauce is usually thick, not sour cream thick but almost like ketchup consistency, today it was watery. It was concerning to eat in the car to know it would easily drip when biting into the tacos. Have you heard of Rick Bayless? He is an American chef who specializes in traditional Mexican cuisine, and he has a few popular restaurants in Chicago. I've had his Ahogada Torta, and his is no where as good as the one made at Loncheria Otro Rollo!! Finally had the opportunity to drop by Loncheria Otro Rollo. Had them bookmarked for months now. You can find this little trailer serving delicious food parked in between a Chevron station and Shake N Buns. Do not expect to be dining at a 5 star restaurant. There are only 2 tables that seat about 5 people each. They are located outside the trailer underneath a tent. Very friendly service here. The woman (maybe the owner) was very helpful and explained the various options on their menu. After looking over the options, I chose a combo meal. It included half an Ahogada Torta with 2 Potato Tacos. She gave me delicious complimentary (possibly homemade) potato chips with ketchup while waiting. Didn't have to wait long before my meal was ready. The Potato Tacos were very good. It was filled with potatoes, lettuce, tomato sauce, some pork meat, and parmesan cheese on top. Went well with the salsa that came with the Torta Ahogada. The Torta Ahogada was messy to eat, but it was worth all the mess that I made. The bolillo roll was packed with carnitas and beans. The salsa that it was dipped in provided quite a kick! Yummy and midly spicy! You might want to get a drink next door because no drinks are sold here. I tried their Jericallas Flan Guadalajara. That flan was also delicious and cooled down my taste buds. Anyways if you want to try a very good Torta Ahogada, then Loncheria Otro Rollo is the spot to try for yourself. I've been to Loncheria Otro Rollo a few times now and every time I like it more and more. The Lonche Gemma is so simple and so good. And they are so consistent. And the service is fantastic. The truck is small but the food they sell provides a big punch. Their spicy salsa is truly spicy and delicious. Their regular sauce is good as well. You really can't go wrong with anything. My favorites are the Gemma Torta and the potato tacos. The shrimp tacos are also very good. The seasoning on the shrimp is perfect. They have two tables available for you to eat there or you can phone in your order for pick up and enjoy your food at home. Either way, the food is delicious and you should try something. read more

Fyi, I'm not a pro. I'm just a normal guy who loves to eat. I started yelping so I could help others find delicious places to eat. I first came here a few years ago when this little truck first opened. I remember I got a carne asada burrito and didn't think much about it. After a few years, many great Yelp reviews, and somewhat of a makeover I still think this place is just good. It doesn't blow my socks off and I wouldn't make it a regular spot, but the food is good. This time around I got a carne asada torta and two bacon wrapped hot dogs with baked chips. The carne asada torta was pretty good. The sour cream was deliciously spread across the lightly toasted bolillo roll and the flavor of the sour cream and the roll were probably the most delicious flavored parts of the torta. The meat was pretty flavorful as well; however it felt a bit cold. I know the torta was freshly made, but I expected the meat to be hotter. It wasn't cold but just didn't feel hot enough for being just cooked, which I assume it was just cooked. The bacon wrapped hot dogs were also delicious. However, I feel the dogs were too small. The one thing I did love about the hot dogs was that they were presented beautifully. You wouldn't expect that from a food truck, but the meal had presentation! You can tell the cook was proud with her work, and I commend her on that. I loved it. The tomatoes and onions mixed well with the mayo and ketchup. The dogs definitely were very flavorful. A real treat were the home made baked potato chips. They looked all natural. Again, the problem I had was that they felt too cold. I don't think they were just fried. They probably make a batch every hour or so, and that makes it lose its flavor/quality. In conclusion, the food does have flavor. However, it could be better. The hot dog and potatoes combo was $3.25. I added a second dog and I have a feeling I was charged for a second hot dog meal, because my total was $11.90. If that's the case, the torta would've been around $4.50-$5. I don't mind the price, but I would've appreciated a second serving of potatoes if I was going to be charged for them. The pricing was still decent for the food. Last thing.... I hate comparing restaurants, but that's how I know which places to choose to eat at over other locations. If you are looking for a bacon wrapped hot dog, I would hit up El Cacheton on Niles. Totally worth it! I looked for bacon wrapped dogs in Bakersfield for years, and that place is my spot. There's really not much more I can add here that others haven't already said. The food here is legit Jalisco style Tortas Ahogadas. Literally, a drowned sandwich. Drowned in what? Well, a spicy blend of peppers made into liquid love! Just be careful with the extra spicy sauce in the small container. I can handle most of my spicy dishes, but this one was a little more than I could handle. If you're a real fan of traditional Tortas Ahogadas, this is a must stop! Just makes sure they're open. Average taco joint. Review is based on one visit. Carne asada tacos were very salty, but palatable. Also had a fish taco which wasn't bad. Driving through Bakersfield from the Kern River and trying to find some authentic Mexican food (given the area has a lot of Mexicanos), but not blown away. I'm still dumbfounded that a taco joint can't get a carne asada taco done right. Such a simple thing. I originally found out about this food truck from my fellow Yelpers. Specifically, they directed me here because I had requested help finding SPICY food in town. Not food that is marketed as spicy, but actual spicy food. I don't know about others, but if something is marketed as "inferno" or "devil hot," I want it to come with a side of ointment for the burn marks it's going to leave in my mouth. Sadly, that's not usually they case. It definitely could be here. My husband and I ordered a late lunch one summer afternoon. When asked for our level of preferred spice, we specified spicy. First assurance we had the real deal: they asked us two extra times if we were sure of our decision. Upon receiving our food, we could definitely see why. This was the first time I'd ever had to bow out of more than a few bites and the only food I've seen make my husband really sweat. While spicy, it still retained a ton of flavor. In short, we've found our spicy unicorn. Service was superb - the owner was incredibly friendly and very welcoming. While the sitting area is just some tables and chairs in a parking lot under a shade cover, they still made us feel like we'd dropped by to eat in a friend's kitchen. We finished our lunch with some flan, normally something I don't care for, but this had an almost rice pudding like texture and lots of spice thrown in with the caramel.
