Cindy and Michael have been running London nails for a very long time. It is next-door to do you Baron's marketplace, a small grocery store. This is the only place I like to get my nails done. They do have those wonderful relaxing massage chairs for a pedicure, but the best part about going to a place like London nails is visiting with people like Cindy and Michael. They are my absolute favorite, they are interesting. They tell me great stories. They really care about their customers. I really can't say enough good things about Michael and Cindy their services. I hadn't had a professional pedicure in 20 years...so many times I walk by nail salons and I can smell the strong odors or see the nail techs chatting among each other and I thought that would be such an unpleasant experience. London Nail Spa was very different. Michael and Cindy are the owners and I don't think they have other employees. They are thoughtful and pleasant, and focus on doing a great job and it's cute how they help each other out. I had a 'soft French' pedicure and it looks great--quite natural. Let me tell you, the worst manicure I have ever had. I only leave reviews if the place has outstanding or horrible service. And unfortunately this salon was the worst. I just moved to the area, and I was very exited to have a walking distance nail salon, I read so many reviews, some were bad some were good, so I decided to give it a chance and try it myself. I called them Sunday morning around 10, scheduled an appointment for 11:30 for a gel manicure. Once there Cindy was very nice and the salon was simple bright and very nice Jazz music playing. I asked about a color I find everywhere and use since I was 16. They didn't have it. I picked an alternative and Cindy started the manicure... what can I say it was just not good. My cuticles were half removed half showing, the nail polish was old and sticky and was hard to put it on. Nail polish all over on my cuticles. This review is to let you all know, the best husband and wife team from Vietnam are now ready to treat your tender tootsies to the greatest of care. Since we are in pandemic times, and San Diego is now off the state watch list you can feel very safe to return to their booth operating outside the front patio of their store. They have divider panels to give you privacy, space, and lots of fresh air. When my friend and I arrived, they had large bags wrapped around their tubs to put your feet in. There was plexi-glass between myself and the customer next to me, which was my friend. They wore gloves and masks and there was sanitizer in various spots so you can wipe up after using your credit card for example. All the tools they used from white crisp towels to files to buffers were new and in tip top order. I think the best part of knowing they are back in business, is knowing they have survived this so far. I absolutely adore this Naily Nailerton Dream team, they are kind and caring, in fact, my own mother thinks Cindy may as well be a "foot doctor" because of how she fixed up a problem my mom was having. Yelp led me astray here so need to give a perspective to help others looking to try this salon. Chose London due to high star rating, closeness to a grocery stop I needed to make and not wanting to make a special trek to my usual Hillcrest spot. I am not the pickiest nail salon patron at all, but had a bad experience here when I went for a simple gel nail shellac removal. The one lady in the place was very nice and an older gentleman took care of me right away. However I immediately noticed that the nail station was dirty (hair, a rubber band, other debris built up). I had to ask the gentleman to clean it, which he did, but I shouldn't have to ask. While he filed off the initial layer, there was no cover atop the station so shellac debris went everywhere. He then wrapped four of my fingers in the same piece of tin foil (usually done nail by nail but I let him do his thing) with the solution on. Without going into more boring detail, by the end not all of the shellac was removed, there was no protective oil applied to my stripped nails and no effort to even file them a bit to keep them smooth (they ended up jagged). Also the lack of cleanliness continued when the tech asked me to go to the bathroom to wash my hands after he finished (!). Thought I could go to a random salon for a simple procedure but now I know to never stray from Tippy Toes again! read more

I could tell from just being there the short time I was that they both have so many regulars that care about them and their work. I really don't see this place doing the new 3D nails, stiletto nails, or the newest wackiest nail trends... That could be a downside for some people that would like to take their kids/tweens. They wear new gloves with each client. They limit the number of people they have in the building. Inside the store they have wall barriers set up to distance you when getting your nails done, toes done, and checking out at the register. I'm very picky about getting my nails done because I get a lot of ingrown toenails but ever since a couple years back I stumbled across this place and it is my go to! Cindy and Michael are such sweet people and always make time to fit me in. The massage chairs are so comfy, they have a large selection of nail polish and gel polish colors to pick from! I have recently needed to get my toes done rather than do them myself, as twisting into a pretzel to reach my toe nails doesn't work at my age anymore. I have had a few not so great experiences. I was desperate to return to see Cindy and Michael after the nail salon ban was lifted. Their environment was very clean with lots of social distancing and barriers. Cindy is particularly good at taking care of problem nails, like ingrown toenails, after many years of trying to find someone that could give me relief. Really wanted to like this place because of the location, and the staff was friendly, but unfortunately I cannot recommend and will not return. First, the woman who I assume is the owner started on my manicure, shaping, filing, etc. Her tools came out of a pencil box and did not appear to be sanitized although they were labeled "clean implements" after she is done she put the dirty tools back in the clean box and put them away. This did not seem sanitary in the least bit and was very concerning. She also did not use any cuticle oil, and seemed to be rushing. She then leaves and her husband I believe takes over to begIn the gel nails. The final product was streaky and began to chip the next day. First visit here, 10am on a Thursday: They were opening up and only one other customer so sat right down in a spa chair for pedicure. Got an experienced woman who took her time but seemed to know the standard drill. She told me when I sat down that the credit card machine wasn't working & would need cash payment, not a problem as I had cash. The place was larger than it looked from outside, clean appearance and 2 things caught my eye as different than usual: First, she rubbed a lime on my toenails at one point when cleaning them. The lime was at least a day old - didn't bother me but wasn't sure of the purpose. Second, after regular calf/foot massage she went and got 2 hot stones which she used to massage my calves & that felt really good! Bonus points! I usually go for acrylic nails/fill and an eyebrow wax, which is always perfect. The pedicures are amazing while sitting in the massage chair! The prices are very reasonable and they are open 7 days a week. It is cash only, but Barons is next door, where you can get cash back easily....and buy some treats while in there. A laundromat is nearby. I usually do laundry while getting my nails done, which is great for people who like to multi-task. There are many, many colors to choose from. If they don't have a color you want, they will order it. I will not go anywhere else, as I know when I go there, I get quality. The owners are very, very nice people and they always make going there a pleasant experience. I highly recommend this place. This place was okay. The chairs were comfortable and it seemed more or less clean. I called on a Monday, and they said they could get me in 10 minutes for a pedicure. I really wish that she would have told me to come at a time when she wasn't expecting other appointments, I could have waited. The service provider was friendly, and she did an okay job. The three stars was because I felt like she was rushing through my whole appointment. It took less than 25 minutes for her to do my pedicure, and I was really looking forward to a relaxing experience. My toes looked good, however, I had to pumice my own feet later that day, she did a VERY quick job on my cuticles, and there was nothing "spa" about the pedicure, which was disappointing. read more

I have lived in Pt. Loma for 7 years & it took me a good 5 to 6 years to find a nail salon near me that was reasonably priced, CLEAN, and had plesant staff. The first time I went in I did not have an appointment, I was told to wait about 15 minutes & that the business is Cash Only. No Problem, I had time and money. Cindy & her Husband are the only 2 staff that work in this salon. It is always best to make an appointment or call her in the morning to see if she has availability. Cindy always greets you by name & remebers a lot about you (What you do for work, spouse, kids...) I like the fact that they wrap the "foot bath tub bins" with a plactic bag before filling it in order to keep you from putting your feet on the same base others put thier feet into. Or maybe that is her way of cleaning it less? Wither way, I like it. They both work pretty fast & I am usually out of there within an hour. Michael (the husband) does not talk much, but now that I have been goint there monthly fo rhte past year or so, he seems to make more of an effort to chit chat. Only draw back is remebering to get cash before going & sometimes they are not available after work. I just make sure to call ahead for a weekend morning appointment & they do not mind getting to the salon early as long as they know an appointment will be there. read more

Update: I just removed the acrylics the put on they put my acrylics on so improperly that there was mold growing under my nails from water getting underneath the acrylic and I have a fungal infection. Cindy did a great job on my nails. Originally I had wanted a very specific sparkly red shellac that I wasn't even sure existed... And it didn't. But Cindy helped me achieve the look I was going for by doing one coat each of 2 polishes to get the perfect cool red shade with red sparkles on top. I just had a polish change so it wasn't that long of an appt. I messed up one nail being over-eager to get my phone out of my purse and usually I feel like I get attitude or a scolding but Cindy was really nice about it. Whipped out the little painters brush with polish remover to smooth it out and give it a fresh paint. I am really happy with my nails!! And it's right next to where my Grandma gets her hair done so I'll definitely come back next time I'm in San Diego! read more

On my search for a good nail salon I decided to try one very close to my house and at the same mall where Baron's supermarket is (love Baron's by the way...) As I walked in Cindy greeted me with a smile (very unusual at nail spas) and informed me that she would only be available in about one hour, since I live close by I agreed to come back. And I'm very glad I did, when I was back she greeted me by my name showed me the spa chair a told me that her husband was going to be doing my pedicure... I was a little afraid that he wouldn't do a good job, but by another great surprise he was awesome!!! He did a great job, my feet were smooth, clean and with a great color polish. They mostly have OPI polishes and all the other products they use seem to be good quality and not cheap.... I've already been back for manicure and have to schedule my next pedicure... Here is my theory on getting your nails done: you should explain to the nail tech how you want your nails to look, and you should be able to close your eyes and have a beautiful Mani or Pedi when you open your eyes back up.. I know, this may sound ridiculous but here is why: I came to this place because of the reviews, the couple who own it are the only 2 people that work there. That didn't bother me. They seem nice and tried to speak English which is great! As the lady did my manicure, i felt that i had to correct her every step of the way. 3 of my nails were filed crooked, which is ridiculous. She totally cut me with the file and every time she put anything on the finger it burned really bad. I do understand these things happen so i just let it go. When she painted my nails she did not do a very good job. I feel that she was being careful but my nails still came out just OK. I don't think i should have to babysit my nail tech to make sure they are doing a decent job.. Unfortunately, I don't think i would go back here.. :/ read more

Tried really hard to like this place. I really want to support a mom-and-pop operation. Brought my friend who is visiting from London to London nail salon. First the nail polish selection is so limited. As one reviewer said, don't come here for the latest nail trends. Spot on. My Spa Pedicure lasted 20 minutes. The massage consisted of rubbing some lotion on my legs. Just not a good job. There was no one there getting work, we are potentially new clients so why the rush?
