We were two hours into our great Texas road trip when we blew out all our transmission fluid on Hwy 71. We pulled into the median as the truck just quit. Vehicles were whizzing by us at an insane pace. To say we were terrified is an understatement. I called Lonestar Towing & Recovery, and it was like a literal angel came to save us! Fifteen minutes later, here comes Ron with flashing lights to tow us to safety. He recommended an honest mechanic (Brian @ The Auto Shop) where we dropped off our truck, then he drove us to Lost Pines Toyota Rental where we rented a vehicle and continued our vacation with only a few hours delay! We spent the rest of our trip thanking God that we broke down in what was the best possible scenario. We called who is obviously the best wrecker driver in the state (see ALL the previous reviews) and, possibly, the entire country! Thank you Ron!!! Can't even begging to explain how horrible this company is. They towed me in a spot that was NOT marked within ten minutes of me parking. I called to please at least being back my baby's car seat because I was a single mom and had no way to safely get home or even to the car with my daughter. The last on the phone said I don't care it's not my fault you parked in a tow spot. Then preceded to charge me over $300 after only being towed for an hour. I had to have a pregnant stranger drive me while I left my child with my mother who could barely drive to get to me. They were unwilling to even tow my car back to me just so I could take this seat out. I said I would pay even more and they did not care at all. My tow operated Bob ensured me they only use flat beds and my car would be cared for, the quality of the employees and the speed of their labor is through the roof! They are crooks!!!! Please see attached photo. When asked why we were being charged 3 days, we were told by Amy (front desk) "Because the vehicle was brought in at 11:58 pm and that counts as a full day. When I told her how suspicious that sounded, she rudely replied- I don't care that's what time it came in. A Man by the name of Bobby (back office) also rudely chimed in and said- if that's what the paperwork says, that's what it is. A back and forth occurred between myself, Amy, and Bobby with things such as Amy saying, "Who cares, it's not you vehicle anyway", and Bobby saying, "You are running your mouth (with a hand motion) a lot and you need to stop". I paid the bill and asked to make sure the times were on my receipt. I have already made 3 calls to places such as the BBB and 2 to local law enforcement and will not stop until I have received my money back. I will write a letter to the Mayor by 10/20/2023. I will never tolerate liers and thieves and this business is full of disrespectful lying thieves!!!!!!!! Please note the time requested, the time towed, and the time impounded. Shane, the long haul driver, arrived ahead of the estimated arrival time and was gracious enough to answer all of my numerous questions. Bait and Switch. Quoted me $2307 for my Mazda 2 repair. After they said something about the paint color being wrong on the quote, it jumped to $3400 AFTER the repair and BEFORE telling me. It turns out Tomas called MY geico agent at Caliber Collision to find out what HIS quote for my car was. When he found out theirs was more, he went with it. My mistake for letting them know it was an insurance claim upfront- gives them a license to jack up the costs, cheating everyone but themselves. Used USAA Roadside assistance, Lonestar came out and tried to jump the vehicle. The vehicle did not jump so we needed to tow it. The driver stated that a new claim would need to be made and he isn't going to stick around much longer. While on the phone with USAA he just drives off and doesn't say anything! Was very rude and not helpful! Freedom towing was sent the second time and was very professional. Don't know how these guys are still in business! read more

Had to get a tow last night while it was raining slightly. Had a great experience. The driver was quick on sigjt. Effeciently loaded and unloaded the car once at our destination. We know how they make money not associated with repairs. When your car has been towed and is "staying" for multiple nights, they don't return your call for 3-6 days, hence more money for them. To get an extra night, they don't return the call until late in the day, when nothing can be done or setup! Ca-ching for them, not for their customer..... What makes this worse is that when vehicles are towed from a collision, the victim/driver is in a very vulnerable position. It's very disappointing when you realize that a company is taking advantage of you and your situation. read more

I am very impressed with the quality of their work. This last time, the owner found another dent and fixed it at no additional charge. My car was towed by Lonestar Collision and Repair in Bastrop, Texas. The charges should have been $229, but they demanded $329 to release my vehicle. The extra $100 was for an "inclement weather" fee, which was listed on their displayed board of charges. I understand a need for a weather fee, but I was there that night, and there was no inclement weather of any sort. I have looked up weather reports from the two surrounding weather stations, both of which state that there was no precipitation, ice, or fog. I called the company, and they said if there was any fog, then the fee applies. I find this a deplorable business practice. They were my only towing option, and I had no way to anticipate that charge when they were hired. To the best of my knowledge, and going by the weather history, there was absolutely no "inclement weather" that night. Considering my treatment, I would not trust these people to touch my car again, either for towing, repair, or maintenance. read more
