Winter Vegan Pizza: roasted broccoli, garlic, beets, kalamata olives, sprouted peas & pumpkin sunflower cream- party in my mouth!
    Lynn O.

When a biochemist and a classically trained French pastry chef couple opened shop, we got Long Beach Beer Lab. Together they combine science, fermentation, and local quality ingredients to create some awesome craft beers and baked goods. The brewery specializes in sours but they also make IPAs, lagers, and stouts. I'm not much of a beer drinker so I appreciate that they have a sparkling Moscow mule cocktail, a house Chardonnay and a house Cabernet Sauvignon. LB Beer Lab is on my top 5 list of pizzas in this city and it's all because of my love for the Mushrooms Wild pizza. All of their pizzas are made with a beer malt sourdough crust and I recommend dipping the crust in their very garlicky marinara sauce! The Mushrooms Wild pizza has a creamy ricotta base, Local Long Beach mushrooms, caramelized onions, confit garlic, mozzarella, and topped with spring greens, fresh cherry tomatoes, and a lemony, parsley dressing. Yes, it's like a salad pizza and I love the zesty dressing! Their Margherita is quite popular with its star shaped crust and the Spicy Summer with Worthington Meatless pepperoni is good too. In fact, all of their items are vegetarian here. The garlic knots and beignets are bite-sized with a mochi-doughnut-like chewy texture. Both are great for sharing. Order at the register and they'll pour your drink and serve your food when it's ready. Food comes out pretty quickly. Plenty of indoor seating and family friendly with board games and lots of pin ball machines! Free parking lot in the back too! Check their schedule as they have different hours of operation and are closed on Thursdays. Happy to see they have expanded and opened a couple of other locations in Long Beach too!

Today we celebrated my Ninos birthday. It was our first time here & I must say, we had a very good time with our kiddos, family & friends. They had an isle of pinball machines & a separate little table with other games. They also had a guitarist playing live music. The staff were very nice! Even though the food was vegan, it was tasty. The Margarita pizza was amazing! We also ordered a grilled cheese & a side of fries for the kids. Now for the drinks.... I ordered a spike berry lemonade slush. That was right up my alley, delicious! My husband ordered the Sublime Beer & the Dad Beer. We would definitely come back!

My entire family loves this place! The pizza is good, the selection of beers is great, the ambiance is very chill and the staff is always friendly. You can enjoy sports on the tvs, pinball/arcade games and board games in the main room, and cozier and more intimate vibes upstairs.

If you're ever around the area you need to stop by!! The pizzas here are so good, you won't be disappointed! The service is exceptional and they let you try beers before purchasing them which is amazing. They are super attentive and they allow for you to bring your dogs and of course I took my puppy with me! We went on a Friday night and the music was perfect, the crowd was super cool and everyone seemed like they were enjoying their time!! The pinball machines are super fun and the place is filled with lots of locals!

Highly recommend the Rib Crusher 50000, a triple hazy IPA collab with ambitious ales. 12oz is $9 and 6oz is $6. Super smooth, not too hoppy for a triple, and has a slightly fruity sweetness to it. Nice brew while enjoying the NBA game on TV.

    Seasonal pizza

This brewery is pretty awesome. They make their own bread and therefore their own pizza and other sides. We got the seasonal pizza, garlic knots and fries. All were excellent, especially the pizza. The beer is also great. It looks to be seasonal as their tap seems to rotate with many different beers ranging from lagers to stouts to sours and ipas. The space has opened up to a new larger area where there's also pinball machines and games. Overall this vibe and upstairs is also very cool.

The excellent May The Schwartz Be With You Schwarzbier from Long Beach Beer Lab!
    Alden C.

Steve and I recently had some beer frombLong Beach Beer Lab and I have to say we were both highly impressed with what we had. It was a beer type we don't often get but usually enjoy, a Schwarzbier, a kind of dark lager called May The Schwartz Be With You which is a reference to Spaceballs movie. We really liked this beer a lot! We enjoyed the flavors of maltiness, smokiness and hoppiness. The beer is nice and dark in appearance and in body it goes down nice and smooth. An excellent Schwarzbier, that much is for certain!

A solid OK. Fun building, cool to see inside of the beer lab. They have trivia and things. Would not come here specifically for dining. Very limited menu. Ordered the margarita pizza which was said to be the best, it wasn't bad. Lots of crust. I order a side of basil oil, so much crust you need 2 sauces. Service was Eh- just sufficient. You have to order at the counter, you have to go back to the counter to get your items, there are signs to bus your table and they still have a tip prompt when paying.

Most ridiculous French fry portion for $9
    Marini V.

This was the portion for fries and it was NINE DOLLARS LOL. Wondered why this place was alway empty, and now I know. Such a bummer as I literally live walking distance but will never come back because they're so overpriced.

Oh I am SUPER bummed that LB Beer Lab has decided not to bake bread or desserts anymore except perhaps at seasonal times! I loved to pop in and get a pizza, beer, and a loaf of olive bread to take home and slather with butter. So sad. But we broke traditional from ordering a full size Margherita Pizza getting a personal size one along with a personal size Mushroom Pizza. I have to say that while I think it's a great idea to have personal size pizza, they never seem to have the same gusto as a full size one. Perhaps it's just too much of the edge taking over the pie and thus less dough and toppings. While the Margherita was up to par we were woefully disappointed with the Mushroom Pizza which the staff said was an improvement over previous versions. While the super thin slices of potato didn't disrupt the pie nor do the ricotta (I love white pizzas), my question is: WHERE WERE THE MUSHROOMS! Were they chopped up? Bummed. While I loved this place, the change of dropping bread and a shortened menu list, make me wonder if it's just turning into a complete brewhouse. Bummer.

My wife and I were trying a Thai spot when we saw great looking pizzas being brought to people at outside tables so we had to go and give it a try. So glad we did. The place is pretty cool and bigger than expected. They have indoor and outdoor seating as well as some common tables in front of the entrance. Service was good. It's an order at the front counter and take a number to your table and they bring the food to you. We went with three family members and got two different pizzas and both were so good. One was a loaded pepperoni with a hot honey sauce and the other had ricotta cheese with pepperoni and pickled jalapeños (the red ones). Absolutely delicious We also ordered fried onion rings (which I did not try as I don't do onions) and fried zucchini sticks. The sticks were very good but I was thrilled with the dip as it had dill and I should have just asked for ranch. I'm told the onion rings were very good. They came with a honey mustard sauce dipper which went great with the zucchini sticks by the way. We saw some very good looking chicken wings being served to other tables and plan to try those next time. Parking in this area can be tough at times however it's worth the effort believe me.

We'd be happy to come down again in traffic, because it's absolutely worth the drive here. Some find the pizza sizes small or the prices high in comparison to your average pizza joint - but your average, everyday pizza place in California is just...ew. Their crust is very thin, Neapolitan style in a brick oven, beautiful and a little chewy, slightly-charred from the brick oven. Amazing texture. Traditionalists, so we just got the Margherita and Bianco, adding some mushrooms and a drizzle of truffle. SOO good. We also tried the fried zucchini blossoms, which were very light and not oily at all. Caesar salad was very delicious and fresh, also had the octopus, which was perfectly grilled and like eating steak. To finish, we had some amazing coffee with tiramisu. Wow. Not usually a fan, but their tiramisu was super light, not overly sweet, and super good. Thanks to our wonderful server, Diana ! Super friendly and everything came out quickly. Deep Dish pizza is one of my fave things to eat, but I don't find places that serve it or at least do it well. I grew up eating deep dish pizza out here on the west coast, so I'm more used to and like the west coast style, as opposed to the true Chicago style where they cut their thin crust pizzas in little squares. It's a pie, cut it in triangles like a pie! They use too much cornmeal in the crust too, but that's just me. I first had deep dish stuffed pizza at Zachary's in Berkeley, so I kinda compare everything else to that. It was another long day of work and the crew just wanted to stay at the hotel and have me go out and get them some of this deep dish pizza. Ok, I'll keep the crew happy. I go in and order and it's very nice inside. Kinda a little upscale over some pizza parlor joint. I get 2 medium Chicago Classic, I think that was what it was called. Mostly it was sausage, green pepper, onions and mushrooms and lots of cheese. They had an option of half baked, so I got that cause I wanted the pizza hot and crispy and we had a full kitchen back in my room, plus all the plates and stuff. Simple food goes a long way. There were a couple of us so we grabbed a few things to share. Started off with the pretzel balls with cheese dip and honey mustard and the chips with queso cheese dip. The guy that rang us up came over and said, "sorry something happened to your pizza it'll be another 20min or so". At this point we had already been waiting about 15 min for the pizza. So we said ok because we were starving. One of the employees asked us if we drank wine we said no we didn't and that's why we were drinking cokes. He said, "ohh, okayyyy..." and gave us a very judgmental look. Like sir, you don't know why we aren't drinking. We also kind of figured he wanted to give us a few beverage for the mix up. But that was the end of it. We heard someone say our name and we asked if ours was ready and one girl acted like we were being impatient while waiting. Like we didn't just wait over a half hour for food. Finally our pizza was done after a total of 40 min and there was very minimal apology for the delay. We took it back to our hotel and we were so excited it smelled so amazing and it looked so good. I cannot tell you how disappointed we were when we took our first few bites. It was not that great. We had ordered pepperoni and the veggie pizza. We ate half of it because we were starving and very quickly regretted it. It made both of us super sick on top of everything else Needless to say we won't be back here and won't be recommending this place either

Loaded with cheese and full of flavor, it definitely hit the spot. The tomato sauce wasn't my favorite as it was a bit on the watery side, but honestly the stromboli had more than enough flavor to make up for it. The location itself is pretty small, but it seems like a solid spot for a quick and easy pickup.

Overall, it was solid--sauce had good flavor, cheese was decent, and the dough was nice. Nothing mind-blowing, but definitely a respectable slice. My only issue was the balance--there was a bit too much cheese for the crust, so even folding it New York-style, it didn't hold up well and kind of fell apart. A little more crisp on the bottom would've made a big difference. I also tried their Sicilian grandma-style focaccia pizza, and honestly, that was a huge letdown. It had this dusty, raw flour taste right away, was dry and spongy, and way overpowered with Parmesan. It just didn't come together at all--pretty disappointing, especially for the price. I've had frozen pizza that tasted better. Ended up just picking at the cheese to salvage something. On the plus side, the service was friendly and the space itself is chill--nice casual vibe with a few tables inside and outside to hang out. All in all, the regular slice was decent, but the focaccia pizza really missed the mark for me. Probably not a spot I'd go back to.
