I used this company to move from Seattle to Washington, DC cross country. Everyone I dealt with has been exceptionally nice, but nice doesn't matter to me when after waiting a full month for my stuff to arrive, nearly all of the large items are damaged beyond repair. The company insisted I pay hundreds extra to crate sensitive items, like a marble top TV console, only to use the marble top as a packing surface and scratch it all up on the packing day AND THEN it arrives and I find out they did not even crate the piece properly, but instead ripped the marble which had been screwed in and glued on to the base off the top and now it can't be put back in place properly. I had to throw out large irreplaceable items that i paid hundreds to ship and will pay thousands to replace like my bar cabinet because it was so poorly wrapped in transit that the base got bent and whole piece is now unstable. The face of the cabinets had actual holes punched into it. This kind of damage takes significant effort to make! The movers unpacking me were incredibly surprised by the state in which things arrived and kept directly saying how negligent the packers and transport must have been. The claims process for damages unfortunately only accounts for items by their weight at 60 cents per pound, so the amount I am being offered by Long Distance Movers to replace several large furniture items and LOTs of other items is laughable and won't even cover half of the replacement for one single piece of furniture they ruined. They won't refund the shipping of items they ruined beyond repair. This goes beyond normal wear and tear that occurs during a move -- these damages are so extensive they show a complete lack of care for my items while they were in transit and total improper packing. This was my first cross country move and it was done during a very stressful time in my life. I've learned my lessons about scrutinizing the damage policy and micromanaging the package process and insisting items be actually taken apart as was supposed to be part of my contract. However, I would never trust this company to move anything for me again. They clearly are not professionals or their own movers would not have been so disparaging of their work while helping me unpack the disarray that arrived. read more

I used this company to move my son from Los Angeles to Chicago. We did both vehicle and apartment. They were great with getting quote info to me and any information I requested to make the decision to go with them. Once the agreement was signed, had a hard time getting a hold of my contact Matthew by phone or text. Vehicle move went ok, some issues with pick up date based on what our agreement had scheduled. The issue was the apartment move. When the movers showed up to pack up furniture I tried to get a hold of Matthew stating that they were just wrapping a moving blanket around all the furniture. I was instructed by LDM that they would shrink wrap anything that had drawers which was most of the furniture and that did not happen. I could not get a hold of Matthew my direct contact, very disappointed in this. Received the delivery in Chicago about 3 weeks after pick up. All of the furniture had some sort of damage to it. We had 15 heavy duty boxes packed and all but one box was broken somehow, like they were just thrown around. Day of delivery some of the furniture was already unpacked from the moving blankets, that was not expected. I never got an update on insurance information prior to our move on 10/30/24 until I received an email today 12/11/24 with all the information for insurance. Had I had this information ahead of time, I probably would have chose a different option to protect our belongings. Long Distance Movers are great! I recently had a close friend of mine move out of state :( so I looked up the reviews and came across this place. I handled the movers for her since she was pregnant and I did not want her to stress. They were prompt in their response and punctual in their arrival! Although I felt sad my friend was leaving, I'm glad that she was able to trust the company I found via yelp reviews. I was also there for the moving process as well and from what I saw, they were professional and kept their masks and gloves on. DO NOT USE THESE MOVERS. This is a very bad,unprofessional moving company. We moved from San Francisco to Oregon and so many things went wrong. For one, they lost a number of our items. But more importantly-- when I first spoke to Joseph on the phone, I gave him a very detailed list of items we were going to move. He was very nice and professional in this initial call. He quoted me around $3500. The total ended up being $6000 for a small apartment with some boxes, a sofa, a tv and two beds. When the movers arrived, I noticed the list of stuff did not include everything I mentioned to Joseph when getting the quote. So on the day of the move, I had to sign something saying it would cost several thousand dollars more. What was I supposed to do-- cancel the move? Then they said that they would deliver our stuff at some point within a 10 day window-- this of course makes it very hard to plan. Then they gave us less than 24 hrs notice to tell us our stuff was arriving. The movers did not all wear masks. They also did not clean up the big mess they made. They were fine enough though and we tipped them around $300. This is NOT worth the 6000 bucks (more like 7,000 with tips). I'd recommend getting movers to load a uhual and then movers at your destination to unload. OR pay more for a better, more legit moving company. read more

I moved from Boston to San Francisco and had a horrible experience with Long Distance Movers. The movers arriving in Boston were careless, not wearing masks, and exceptionally slow to pack. We waited over 9 hours for them to pack a 1 bedroom apartment. They left a mess upon leaving and we had to pick up tape, used materials, empty water bottles, and miscellaneous screws and nails after they left. During the move, the movers left a large hole in the wall after running the couch into it, which required additional follow-up and multiple emails and calls to get fixed. I requested a specific date to move in over 3 months in advance and was told that would be the move-in date. When the time came, I was told that they only had one slot available that was not our move-in date. Upon arrival, the movers were not wearing masks and left a mess in the bathrooms of our new house. We found that multiple pieces of artwork were destroyed, nearly every piece of wooden furniture had been chipped or damaged, TV remotes were lost, and other items were missing. The packing was done carelessly, with a dirty plunger packed among shoes and contact lenses. I submitted a request to reimburse the damaged items (totaling over $1,000 in damage) and am still awaiting a response over 1 month later. I have contacted them multiple times and have not received any response. Would never recommend this company, it is not worth the stress and damage that they cause. read more

Best moving company ever! They truly care, and every employee I dealt with shows great pride in their work. We had one long, complicated move or four separate moves depending on how you think about it. We moved part of our belongings to storage and part to a temporary home in April 2016. We just finally bought a permanent home and had both sets of belongings moved there 2.5 years later. Over the 2.5 years I worked with the same two people for any questions and for ongoing storage payment for our belongings they took to their storage facility. It's remarkable to me that a moving company retained these two employees and that they knew exactly who I was every time I called in. I'd like to give a shout out to Mark and Frank for taking such great care of me. We had great guys for each of our pickups and dropoffs, but there are a few extra special I want to note. Lazaro and Jorge picked up our items from our temporary location and were amazing. My sister-in-law was working from home, and they were so quiet she hardly knew they were there. Srdjan and Bobby delivered our items from storage to our new home. Since we hadn't seen the items in 2.5 years, we didn't remember everything or where it should go. They were extremely patient with me and were wonderful about moving a few of the items to the garage and to the outbuilding in the back yard. All the guys were also so careful with our belongings and while moving that I had no concerns about breakage or damage to the walls. UPDATE: John from QA has been extremely helpful. I ended up deciding to go a different route I'm sure is not often taken, and john called every day to follow up and help me through the process. I was annoyed but he kept a positive attitude the entire time. He is the only reason I'm updating from 1 star to 4. Every company needs someone like John working with them! And I will admit, the car shipping service was amazing, I got my car in two days. ___ So far I'm not receiving the same good service as the rest of the reviewers here. I went with this company because I was sick of getting scammed by other. My last company fell through because they tried to underwrite me heavy, then lock me into a contract. Then over quoted me a week before time to move. So I cancelled and finally came across long distance movers. Dana was super nice on the phone and after my bad experience I made sure to clearly and concisely tell her every piece of furniture I had. Moving day comes and he says the couch isn't on the inventory. So he snitches and Dana calls to say moving the couch would be an extra 700 dollars. I'd budgeted a certain amount and they were trying to gouge me for more. I was honestly shocked and hurt that she would pull such a shady move when she seemed so nice. So I had to leave my couch. Which at the end the movers asked if they could have it. SO professional right? They could keep it for themselves for free but couldn't have moved it for me. Then I arrive to my destination a week later get the keys to my apartment, then another week and it's radio silence. No news of when my stuff will arrive. I have an empty apartment unused and I'm going crazy sleeping on my parents couch because they refuse to move my things. So my livelihood is just sitting at some unknown area for two weeks now, and I have no idea what's going on with it. I've had military moves for much faster than this, and that's SAYING something. My Greatest fear about moving from Tacoma Washington to Phoenix Arizona was finding a reputable moving company. My fears were quickly put to rest after the people from Long Distance Movers arived at my home to pick up my belongings. In a word they were great! The way they wrapped my furniture put me at ease. Amazing company!! I never thought I would say that about a moving company. We made the biggest move of our lives, cross country with a small child. My husband and I moved with my son and moved our car from California to Maryland cross country. we got everything in one piece in two weeks as they had promised . the car was moved beautifully as well. no damage or loss of goods. and I really really enjoyed their hands on customer service always being able to answer my questions and still continuing to make sure I'm OK three months down the road. After being cancelled on by MAP Moving and storage literally the day before they were scheduled to move me, Long Distance Movers saved my life! US DOT # 2842396. I called them the day MAP cancelled fully aware they were unlikely to have anything (I had to be out of my apartment for a cross-country move by 7/31/2018). Luke was the sales rep and he did a great job and explained everything well and helped me through the inventory list. And they had an opening for the day after I was originally supposed to be picked up! Yes, Long Distance movers are a bit pricy compared to some others. But they are on par with a moving company like Belkin. And their fee is set so unlike MAP it's not an estimate, it is a binding agreement so they don't charge you for boxes or tape or anything like that (I was charged for a crate for my glass top table but that extra was because it was custom made and was communicated up front and was no surprise). And with the price comes great service. Alex, Viktor, and Viktor (possibly Victor) loaded me up in Seattle and they very thoroughly wrapped everything safely and securely (2 bed 2 bath in ~5 hours). I had packed the items, they took care of the furniture and such. Then they took my stuff to storage until they had a truck coming my way. I was able to check daily on my status (though I didn't need to), they said they would and they did send me a text when my stuff left Seattle and every day after. It came 8 days before the final day in the window (that's one other thing is it's a longer window, 21 business days, but I still say totally worth it). The two drop off deliverers did as good as Alex and the Viktors and they unload and unwrap your stuff and put it where you want it placed in your new home. They also reassemble any furniture they had to take apart. My stuff all arrived, and there was minimal minimal minimal damage. A smaill dent in my wine refrigerator and a small piece off my cheap(ish) ikea bookshelf that I had insured anyway so I am in the (so far) smooth process of claiming that. I truly think Long Distance Movers is worth the slightly higher price tag! read more

All you need to do is look them up on the National Department of Transportation site. Their NDOT number is 2552260. They go by several names and their license has been revoked numerous times in the last few years. I wish I had done this research before hiring them to move us across the country. Despite their guarantee of sending a "professional moving crew" (the exact phrase in their contract), what showed up at our house on moving day was a rag-tag bunch of randos who clearly had not worked together before, didn't know each others' names. Most of them reeked of weed, including the head of the crew. When we unpacked at the other end, the damage was extensive. Yes, when you put an un-blanketed table saw on top of a vintage Telefunken reel to reel tape deck, also un-blanketed, the tape deck is going to get smashed to pieces. And who would have thought Hermes ties could be scrunched up and used as packing material? The language these guys used while in our home was rough beyond anything I've ever heard. The whole experience left us shaken, particularly since we paid about $11,000 for the pleasure of this abuse. Numerous emails to the company asking who these guys were and how they came to be sent to pack us were never answered. Learn from our mistake: do your research with NDOT before hiring any mover, but avoid this one at any cost. read more

They asked for 2-3 days when we wish our cars to be picked up. They called a few days in advance before picked up to arrange that it was going to get picked up on a Friday morning. We had to drive the cars to a nearest bigger parking lot as our street wasn't big enough for the truck. We got our cars in 1 week. Got a call a day in advance that cars were on the way, got a few hours time range. Then the truck came into nearest residential street where they can turn. We walked there to pick up our cars. I can't begin to say enough good things about this company. It's a testament to any company to earn repeat business, let alone a shipping co. I've moved two vehicles through them from Houston tx to San Francisco Ca over the summer and one vehicle from Ohio to California this past winter (during a storm no less). What they offer is fast and SAFE service for your vehicle. Each of my cars that were brought over were handled with the utmost care. The reps I spoke to both went out of their way to ensure that my vehicles arrived in perfect order and left no stone unturned. I'll be honest with you all, they were not the cheapest company. Their quote was always $100-$200 more than the next guy... however I found that small premium paid off huge. I got full access to the reps that outlined my deals. They made themselves available even when they were on their days off. It's nerve wracking moving cross country and having to trust an expensive asset such as a vehicle to people you do not know. However in the hands of this company I had the peace of mind knowing that they were treating my cars as if they were their own. After reviewing and comparing estimates, Long Distance Movers stood out and impressed me the most, their structure was well formatted and the way they presented me with recent references I could refer to created that comfort I needed. You should never be too comfortable without looking into company. I have many valuable and delicate things I had them handle and they were able to honor their agreement and ensure everything would be delivered the way it came. To sum up my wonderful experience I want to say with no doubt I would recommend and continue using this company. They were professional, efficient and friendly! They arrived promptly on time, which is very professional. They had my belongings put in the box really organized and clean. Especially, with my painting collection they were really careful with them regardless the size of it. I could see that they really took care of my collection which is very respectful of them. They were communicating with me, asking me questions about how I want a certain thing to be wrapped. Overall very friendly service and would definitely call this place again if I move. Also, they were very careful putting my belongings in their vehicle. The movers made sure that they stayed in place especially, my collection. I definitely recommend this place to whoever needs a great moving services. The highlight of the whole move was when they began to take out the television sets and stand, they knew exactly what they were doing with the wiring. They had this contraption that made sure none of the wiring got tangled or out of place from how it already was, and the day all of our things arrived at the new house the movers even helped us plug everything into the walls. I have a fear of electricity and have never been good with wall sockets so I super happy that the guys were kind enough to do that. However, that car shipper disappeared and no one arrived to pick up my car on the planned pick up date. Luckily I found Long Distance Movers after a frantic Yelp search for a car shipping company to pick up my car at the last minute. We spoke to a representative named Tom who was very courteous, took down my information quickly and within a couple of hours had paired me with driver headed to California. We've had to move around the US a few times in the last five years, and I could never find luck with moving companies. Whether the guys don't show up on time, things get "lost" along the way, the delivery doesn't happen on schedule, or the worst case scenario, they charge you extra during the drop off because of whatever they feel like charging you for, it had always been a nightmare to find a solid moving company. So with heavy skepticism, we tried this new company, and we finally got lucky. -Estimate came back immediately -Pick up was smooth and well executed -Delivery was a little delayed due to weather but within reason -Delivery execution was also very clean and well planned (Lots of confirmation phone calls about delivery time and location) -Price was exactly the same as the estimate I know it seems very "duh" , and maybe we've just been unlucky in the past, but IF we have to move again, we will be using these guys without a doubt. They said to deliver to me in 10 business days and the last day of delivery, they said they can't make it because they have delays. Quite possibly the worst moving company we have ever dealt with. Broke several items with zero response after letting them know. Save your time and avoid a horrible hassle- choose ANY other company and you will be happier than this. Horrible. read more
