I showed the girl 3-4 pictures with medium length (past shoulders) with wispy bangs and butterfly layers. I left here practically crying looking like Kevin Sorbo from Hercules. She took off 2 more inches than I asked for (and my hair was long/halfway down my back so there was enough for her to a healthy cut and match the style I asked for). She seemed very inexperienced and clearly she was, which is extra annoying since when I booked I asked for a higher level stylist. After she finished I was clearly unhappy and the other stylist came over and tried to tell me it's just the way she blow dryed it and the cut matches exactly what I asked for (even though every picture had hair past the shoulders and mine ends above mine). She then tried to "fix" the style but it looked basically the same after. At this point I just wanted to get out of here before I burst into tears. I was so flustered to get out I ended up tipping her anyway and I'm so mad at myself since there is not one thing I like about this cut. Cried the whole way home 0/10 do not recommend.

The prices for the services that are provided are NOT posted so the only way you know how much they are is to ask. I asked how much a single process color service was and I was quoted a price for 70 dollars. When I went to pay they told me my price went up to 155 dollars for my color treatment. They said because they had to use 2 bowls of dye(one bowl would have sufficed, especially between the little gray coverage needed and the amount of product that needed to be removed from my forehead and robe) The 155 dollar price was also after cutting my hair from my mid back to just below my chin PRIOR to the color treatment. I have had my hair colored at another salon in the area when I had much longer hair and the price was always the same regardless of how much product the stylist used. I paid the full price for the services because that is the right thing to do but I will never go back and neither should you.

Kay always washes my hair well and then walks me over to the chair. She cuts my bangs perfectly and trims my hair so that it's not too long but she gets rid of all the dead ends. I've recommended her to at least 4 of my male friends who also only see her to get their hair cut! I was afraid to let anyone touch my hair again, but the roots looked too overgrown and after what felt like extensive searching, I was like okay it looks like Salvatore at La Moda might know what he's doing. He knows what he's doing. Anyone who's Dominican knows that we are born and we are on a salon chair the week after with heat on our baby hairs - the damage that comes with that constant activity is almost inherent in our genes. It is likely that we have someone close to us that does hair, or a few people. Many of us have ethnic hair and many of us will be exceptionally selective about who puts their hands on our head. I was careful about who had done my highlights and they made a terrible mistake a year prior, and here I am with Salvatore, a deeply traditional Italian man who has been doing hair for many, many years, and he made me feel safe. I had been terrified, and the experience was spiritual. He sat down with me eye-to-eye before we even started and we had the most serious conversation about my hair and its condition before even inspecting it. To me, these things matter. Then he went to work with his assistant and covered the highlights section by section, working diligently and quickly rinsing out the parts where hair was breaking. I don't need to get into more detail, but Salvatore is a top professional with a guaranteed space in stylist heaven, and I am eternally grateful for him saving my hair.
