Less than 1 STAR. This was only my second time coming here and it will be my last. Had the worst hair/cut style here yesterday. I showed the girl 3-4 pictures with medium length (past shoulders) with wispy bangs and butterfly layers. I left here practically crying looking like Kevin Sorbo from Hercules. She took off 2 more inches than I asked for (and my hair was long/halfway down my back so there was enough for her to a healthy cut and match the style I asked for). She seemed very inexperienced and clearly she was, which is extra annoying since when I booked I asked for a higher level stylist. After she finished I was clearly unhappy and the other stylist came over and tried to tell me it's just the way she blow dryed it and the cut matches exactly what I asked for (even though every picture had hair past the shoulders and mine ends above mine). She then tried to "fix" the style but it looked basically the same after. At this point I just wanted to get out of here before I burst into tears. I was so flustered to get out I ended up tipping her anyway and I'm so mad at myself since there is not one thing I like about this cut. Cried the whole way home 0/10 do not recommend. read more

I was pleasantly surprised of the cleanliness of the salon, Ashley was friendly, knowledgeable and professional. I ***really hate*** my haircut!!! I don't even like it a little. I detest it. I wish I had not let him cut it after coloring. He over-cut when he was layering. I hate it so much! It is way too short and he took off an extra 4-6 inches that he should have left on. I don't understand why he cut off so much! I hate it. My slightly wavy hair naturally curls up on the ends. When it's long, it looks nice. When it's short, it looks like Carol Brady's style. It's ugly and awful. I did not ask for, nor did I want barely shoulder length hair. I keep coming back and adding to this review because I really hate this cut. I can't express enough how much I hate it. I was trying to do something good for charity but no good deed goes unpunished. I will never get my haircut at a salon again. Once he cut off what I asked him to cut off, he should have respected the length that I was happy with and not pretend to be layering but instead chop off four to six more inches in length. And, BTW, I told him before I left. His response was call me and I can recut it. Uh, no you can't! You already cut off too much! Save your money & time. Don't go. Original review below. --------------------------------------------------- I was really torn on whether to give this a one star or two star review because the color is nice and people were friendly. Given that I absolutely ***hate*** the cut after spending about $400 at this salon, I went with one star Services I had done: Cut off 10" for hair donation, coloring and then layered cut/style. Why I am posting review: The salon has excellent reviews; however, if you are particular about the length of your hair you need to be careful about going here. Plus, I am extremely upset with my now short hair. I want to make it clear, it took years to grow my hair extremely long for hair donation and it was long enough to where it would go to just below shoulder blades / bra strap area after donation cut. That's the length I would have been happy with & the length it was after the 10" was removed. It's barely shoulder length after it was supposedly layered & why I hate it. I also hate that this was super expensive and I feel like I wasted money on a cut. (Just under) $400 is a lot of money! ($244 for color/cut, $93 for products, $50 tip-which I feel is required.) I am not wealthy, this was a once in a decade treat bc I started a new job & I regret the cut, immensely. I should have just done the donation and color. I feel the portion of money that I spent on cut/style was a complete waste. It's so short that it's constantly in my face as I am moving about. I hate it. Going to have to buy barrettes to keep it off my face. The good: Very friendly, nice and professional. The staff is excellent. The color is really nice. Did a good job cutting of the 10" for donation. Next: After cutting off 10 inches, I went through the process of getting my hair colored which took a while (that's fine) and then it was time to get my hair cut and styled. The bad: He cut off another four-six inches. I hate it. I expected him to cut some for layers and leave length but he took it a step further and cut length. As he was doing it, I said that looks short and he said no this is just for the layers -- wrong. I will not be getting used to it, I'm going to hate it until it is down to the upper middle of my back (which is where it was before he cut off the four-six inches). The style is fine but he did not need to cut off more length after I cut off 10 inches, he just needed to give it some layers but he cut off length. It is now barely touching my shoulders and I hate it. For my work, I am required to wear my hair up in a ponytail. I told him that during the cut. Guess whose hair looks stupid in a ponytail now because it's too short to actually go in one properly? Mine. I spent a small fortune on something that I'm going to hate for at least two years. read more

I feel I found the right place on my first attempt, having recently moved to a new town. Melissa was so friendly and personable. She was attentive and understood my color and cut requests. I am completely satisfied. I left feeling so comfortable and confident in my new look. Richard and the entire staff were very welcoming, the atmosphere was fresh and the music playing was enjoyably different and not like a noisy factory, even though it was busy. The girl who did my hair (can't remember her name) did a great job, she dyed the top of my hair a dark brown, that has held up fine, but unfortunately after just 4 washes the tips of my hair look just about as they did before I came into the salon, after not having my hair dyed for over a year. I came in with silver/ white hair just needing my roots retouched and came out with bright yellow hair. The first attempt landed me with dark yellow roots, drastic enough that the stylist herself said that she had to do it over. She rebleached my hair once more and unfortunately I still left with extremely yellow hair, nothing even remotely close to what I walked in with or asked for. I was at the salon for a total of 4 hours and still don't understand how this happened. I don't typically write reviews but this was the worst hair dying experience I've ever encountered. read more

Zero stars for men's cuts. I went in a for a haircut for my 16 year old son. They cut full 5 inches off the back after saying they take some off and taper it but leave some length. Kid hates it, pissed at me for telling him they are award winning and they'll do a good job. Next time maybe don't lop off a years worth of growth without showing them as you go along and asking for their comfort level, $50 price added insult to injury, go elsewhere read more

Good for haircuts, not color. I've gone to Richard Salon on and off for a few years. After an experience this past fall, I probably won't return. The original girl who did my hair left, and I wound up with a different girl. She did a great job cutting my hair and was very friendly -- I usually keep it pretty simple, one length and great. I had asked to consult about whether the shade of rose gold I wanted on my hair was possible. I felt pushed into doing it that day even though I didn't plan to. While I wound up with very well done blond highlights, you couldn't tell there was any rose gold in my hair. I should have known when she checked the gloss about 3-4 times while it was setting and conferred with other stylists twice. I highlight my hair once or twice a year, and that's the only processing it gets. None the less, they upcharged for the second part of the color process that left my hair no different from simple blonde hairlights. When I stood in the mirror examining it, the owner kept complimenting how pretty it looked and "subtle." So "subtle" it wasn't visible. I eventually ordered product and did it myself at home for $30 with much better results. read more

My experience at Richard Salon was very positive from the moment I walked in until the end of my 3 hour appointment. Kelcie, an accomplished stylist and long-time employee of Richard Salon, was tasked with color and cut of my long and (very) thick mane of hair. I showed her pictures and she was right on the task! I myself will NOT be returning to Richard Salon. In the past year my haircuts went from $68 in 2020 and in 2021 raised to $73 and the other day I had my haircut and without any notification was raised to $88- My hair is very short and every year I get a "Wave" for $300 + haircut now at $88 + tip will almost cost $500 this is ridiculous. Sophia is a good stylist but I refuse to pay and they have lost a customer. I have a few friends that also were going there and will never return because of him the owner raising the prices to ridiculous prices and no warning that is bad for business. I'm sorry but this is not acceptable and I hope he the owner knows he's lost ALOT of business because of this. I believe I didn't even have an inch taken off my hair for $88 I will not recommend them to anyone!. read more

I went in for a root touch up and a haircut. My stylist was young and seemed a little bit nervous. However, she did a fantastic job! She did exactly what I asked her to do, very pleased with the results. The visit took longer than I expected, and I think that was due to the stylist being a little on the inexperienced side, but, she was just taking her time and making sure she did everything correctly. Sad to say I really didn't have a good experience. After scoping out their salon and individual stylists Instagram and seeing some great work (as well as one of their stylists advertising a first timers discount) I had high hopes. I booked an appointment for a partial highlight and haircut/blow out. I came prepared with inspiration pictures and clearly stated I was minimal ash blonde on my natural brown hair. The stylist was very nice, constantly made conversation, however did not clearly state what she intended to do with my hair after the "so what are we doing today" chat. After I began to feel like there were a lot of foils for a "partial highlight," I asked her and she said she decided to do hair painting which is more expensive too. I kinda just went with it because what could I do at that point. Then, after the toner sat on my hair and was washed out, I asked if my hair just looked super golden because it was wet. She offered to blow out a piece of my hair so I could see and I was horrified. There was a little bit of my natural brown root followed by what looked like a straight up gold ombré. I politely said can we fix this and she said yes. When I went over to the sink to get a new toner put on, that's when she presented me with the color book to see what color I was looking for. That should have been done way before. Second time was not the charm either and on the THIRD try, she brought someone else over to help. At this point I just told them you can put it back to all brown. They didn't, just did a deeper blonde so there was literally no difference in my hair from when I walked in, just more brassy reddish gold which is exactly opposite of what I like/wanted. After that, I told her to forget the haircut because for one, I did not trust her with scissors at this point and two, I had been at the salon for 4 hours now and just wanted to leave. I have a shoulder length bob, I don't have that much hair, should not have taken that long. I think the stylist was relieved I didn't want a haircut anymore, I think we both just wanted the appointment to be over. No discount was offered for all of the inconvenience and I asked about the first timers discount just to get some money off from this train wreck of a salon experience. At first they didn't seem like they wanted to, but then they checked with the manager (who should have come over and talked to me after that whole mess) and gave me a $25 discount off of a $252 bill (when I looked it said they charged me $16 for a blow out and on their website it says no charge ever.) I wouldn't mind paying that kind of money if I got wonderful service and what I said I wanted, but this was not even close. I still gave her a fair tip, about 20% of the discounted bill (normally I do pre discount), however I regret going there. I will not be back, all I can say is you live and you learn and I had to eat that money. Waste of a whole Saturday and a lot of money (and now I have to spend more to get it fixed elsewhere, in the meantime I've been using a L'Oréal Le Colour Gloss to keep the brass at bay). I'm sure others have had great experiences, unfortunately mine was far from it. read more

Kind of at a loss and surprised. Have been a client for 2 years. Called to make an appointment with Rich to get my hair straightened was told, we are not providing that service anymore. Now let me say the I was at the salon in November and spent $670.00 to have my hair colored, highlighted and straightened, then back again in January to have it colored and spent $150.00 and again in April for coloring and highlights for another $472.00. So when I called to get my hair straightened by Rich to be told we don't do that anymore, we haven't done that for months. I asked why not? Was told she didn't know why, never asked me if I wanted to speak to Rich. So I said, I guess I have to find a new salon? Got no response. They just let me walk away. I have gone to this salon for years and the one time I canceled last minute for a good reason (mother in a car accident) they said I would have to put a deposit down with a credit card!! No way. This is the Worst salon!!!! First of all the girl who did my hair- Joanna is 19 and has zero experience. She didnt listen to anything I specifically asked her to do. Because of her and lack of experience she ruined my hair. My hair is so damaged and broken i will have to cut most of it off. Lets not forget i wanted highlights and she turned my hair into an ash color by using a toner which I told her I don't use. The owner is a piece of work as well -very full of himself and with all my complaints he wasn't going to give me a refund until I called several times and asked. Let me first start by saying, SOFIA IS THE BEST! She is beyond helpful, will always guide you in the right direction, and never will let you leave with frumpy hair. She is the best hairdresser I have ever had, and I have very difficult hair because it is so thick. Coming to this salon is always an experience, and although many will say it is pricey, you get what you pay for! The quality here is through the roof!! You have a client for life! read more
