This is a great restaurant - the service is amazing. The fish is uniformly excellent. I go there regularly and will be back!

This is the first time I have been to Long John's Silver's in over 10 years. Closest one is about 45 minutes away in Woodbridge. I am currently in Woodbridge 2 times a week for a short period of time and been looking forward to trying LJS again. I ordered the 6 piece shrimp with hush puppies and waffles fries. The item that I thought would be great and excited to try was the hush puppies. The item that I had the least confidence in was the waffle fries because they are battered. I normally do not like battered fries, the ingredient most places use give the fries an off taste. They may taste ok... edible... when hot but when cold, they usually are inedible. The first thing I tried was the fries and I was pleasantly surprised. The batter was very crispy and good flavor and great texture. When cold they still taste great and the coating is addicting. The shrimp, I was excited for. I love shrimp. I took a bite of a shrimp and the batter was so crispy and the shrimp was on the larger side comparing to other fast food restaurants. The shrimp was great. I bit into it and the shrimp had good flavor and cooked great. When you bite into the shrimp, it's easy to bite through, not tough from overcooking. The batter was impressive. The item I had the highest hopes for, was the worse... The hush puppies. They were not terrible. Nice side, the texture was ok but the flavor was a bit eh. The one thing to make all these items shine was the cooking oil. It was FRESH. Nice clean flavorful bites with everything, tasting the food you're eating without the nasty burnt oil taste you get with most places. I don't know if they are better than most with keeping the oil fresh, or if I just came on the right day that they had just changed the oil. There was one other thing I was highly disappointed in. The cocktail sauce. The ingredient show it has a lot of horseradish but the taste is muted. Overall I was impressed with LJS and plan on going again soon and trying other things. read more

First time ever eating Long John Silver's after passing by it for 20 straight years.. I ordered at the drive thru and the staff was as friendly as a 5-second conversation allows. For a fast food place, I love the presentation of the food and the box they serve it in made the "first time" feeling, THAT much more memorable. Craving, LJS....please don't judge me, lol, when the craving hits, it has to be answered. Saturday evening drive was busy on 95 but SO drove, so not complaining. Decided to go in and order take-away, I wanted freshly fried fish and hush puppies. Stepped to the counter to order, greeted by a friendly employee who answered all my questions, including can they drop fresh fish and hush puppies, which they did. Took a seat and noted the fresh paint and clean interior. There were two older couples dining-in. Waited about 10-15 minutes before I was called for my freshly fried fish and hush puppies. When LJS does it right, it is so-good. Crunchy, salty meaty fish and garlicky, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside hush puppies, yum. Couldn't wait to venture home, back through traffic to my bottle of malt vinegar and honey butter. :) read more

Long John Silver's must be protected at all costs. I have been a customer since my mom would bring me here as a kid when they still had a treasure chest of prizes. It's a favorite place and I will travel a hour to get here. I'm sad there are not more in this area. The chicken planks are sooo good. IYKYK!!! Hush puppies are pretty good too. I use the drive through only nowadays. But I'm hopeful the remodel restored the inside to its former glory. read more

I have passed by this Long John Silvers I don't know how many times but never stopped. I decided to try them for lunch about a week or so ago. I ordered the Fish Sandwich Combo and a slice of cheesecake. FYI.. it's from Cheesecake Factory. Service was positive. The fish sandwich was actually pretty good, on fresh bread with pickle and a little tartar sauce- but was expecting it to be a little bigger. The fries were meh and the cheesecake wasn't bad for the price. I still prefer Captain D's , but this was a descent second choice. read more

After hearing all the rumors about Long John Silvers, our family decided to actually try them. We got the $6 chicken and fish meal, with hush puppies and waffle fries. We also got a small clam strips for $3.50. Was it earth shatteringly awesome? No. Was it hot and fresh and well seasoned? Yes. We finished it all. The dining area was clean. Staff was nice. Food was ready in under 10 minutes and it came out very hot. So, I think the rumors are either outdated or exaggerated or location based. read more

Wow their prices have gone up. Then again all other restaurants have too. Met up with a friend here last night, as we both were craving some fried seafood. Lobster bites are actually decent. This isn't going to win health awards, but the fish was tasty. Fries are so so. It was fun to have hush puppies again. Very friendly employees. Thank you for your efficiency. There are a few tables inside, and they worked for us 6 foot plus guys. Lots of laughter and a great time. This restaurant is impeccably clean. That was a surprise, as some of their locations over the years have not been. It was fun for a change of pace. read more

I'm big fan of Long John Silver, occasionally visited. They had a unique better & sea food taste. Last week me and my family went to Dale City, Woodbridge location. The fish and shrimp were delicious, fresh, tasty and hot. I can't understand why they don't have in Fairfax, VA. I shoot multiple emails to CEO of long John silver with the same question but no response. Every time we have to go all the way to Woodbridge to taste that fish. read more

Every time I try to eat here there is a sign on the door that says Lobby is closed due to lack of staff. However, there are no "Now Hiring" signs. Pretty sad that the owner invested so much to remodel and can afford to turn away business. read more

LJS food is always hot and perfectly prepared. They cook your food to order and the service is always fast and friendly! I've never had a bad meal there. I think people just like to criticize it without giving it a chance. read more

This place is very clean and the staff was polite, professional and helpful. I was going to order a two piece fish and add a piece of fish and the woman behind the cash register suggested I just get a three piece fish combo because it was cheaper I hadn't seen it on the menu. She saved me money. I highly recommend this place, the fish was excellent read more

Came by at around 10:40am on a Saturday morning (9/14/19). All hours of operation posted on Google and at the restaurant said they opened at 10:30am. I pulled around to the drive-thru, nobody came over the intercom. I waited a few moments before pulling around to the window. A lady finally came to unlock the window and says "I'm not open yet". I ask her what time do they open. She points to the hours of operation on the window and says "usually 10:30 but i dont have a cook or a cashier, and im the only one here so try back later". I asked her if she had an estimated time, she said she want sure, maybe around 11 or a little after. Waaay too nonchalant for me. Sooooo that would mean your employees are late?? Not great customer service and not a good look for business. I came from a little distance, headed back home. So i decided to wait. I actually waited until I saw another car pull up to the drive thru. The time is now 11:15am. I heard them ordering so I thought that was a good sign. Wrong!! When i pulled up the lady over the intercom said "we just opened, so it'll be about a 10-15min wait for food, is that ok". If i wasnt waiting on a client to call back and wasnt so hungry....but what's another 10-15 minutes since I've already waited 35min since I first pulled up. Currently sitting in drive thru behind another car waiting for food, both of our cars have turned off (pictured). Plenty of time to write a review...Terrible!!! 11:29- food received. Had been wanting to go go there since they open at first only drive thru was open every time I go by there on bus they always see a lot cars going driving thru there for food. The Dining area now open. Finally went yesterday didn't dine in but got two chicken fish boxes to go. Very nice clean dining area counter top from what I saw of kitchen except for some boxes here. Chicken fish included choice green beans, cole slaw to name few of the choices I chose green beans they were good as well as Hush puppies. I'm not big fan of the breading coating on the chicken fish but that's just me. read more

Pull into the drive thru (the only car) order two meals and a order of clam strips our sides were all fries... waited on the food for 27 minutes.. finally get food no sides included I ordered fish and six shrimp I got 2 shrimp oh and it was fairly expensive 33 plus tax the drive thru attendee was rude and not personable at all absolutely the worst experience I've had at a restaurant in a while. Bring back the run down building and the old Employees at least they were friendly and got your order correct. read more

It's been years since I've eaten at Long Johns and I had a taste for battered shrimp and fish. So I ordered through UBER. PROS: Portion sizes were great and ALL special instructions right down to the extra sauces were followed. CONS: The OIL that was used to fry everything....it was just TOO MUCH. The food was saturated in it. Yes with fried food some oil is expected, but there was so much that it just oozed out of the fish after barely touching / applying any pressure to it. We specifically chose this place because we received TWO sheets of coupons in our mailbox. We go to pay and this location (Dale City) does not participate in any coupons at all. Then WHY would marketing send them to my house?! The next closest LJS is 28 miles away! Haven't even tasted the food yet and already irritated. Today I went through the drive thru for the first time since they remodeled the place. I waited like 10 minutes, which I didn't mind because it meant that they were preparing my order. I have ordered the #10 which it was 2 fish, 6 shrimp, a couple of hush puppies, fries and corn, this was for my husband and he said that it was really good. I was surprised that I could even find one. I was even more surprised how updated and clean the premises were. As for the food, it was exactly how I remembered it crunchy, with crumbles; and although it was a bit greasy because it was fried, there were no lingering taste of oil. throughly enjoyed my meal. The 2021 glow up is real!!! Last time I came to this location, I waited in line for 45 minutes and didn't get served. THIS TIME! Not only did I get my food within five minutes of placing my order. My food was fresh as hell! LJS may not be "fancy seafood" for a lot of people but I love me some of their fish tacos! The sauce? *chefs kiss* The crunchies? *chefs kiss* The price? *chefs kiss* This time I opted for the 2 piece cod meal with green beans and coleslaw. The green beans were trash but the coleslaw was on point. The fish was fresh and pipping hot. I have not been here in a while and was happy to see the remodel. Place was bright and new. Staff was VERY friendly!! The food was fresh, so of course it tasted great. This is one of the only LJS left in the DC metro area. Place was clean and seems new management! Is trying to make it up for the years in decline. My complaint is perhaps petty. The details make the place seem sloppy. Boxes of supplies in the main dining room. The floor was mildly slippery (however I do realize it's a fried food place). I went through the drive through as I thought it would be quick and I cannot stand on my feet for a long time. There was one truck in front of me and one car behind me--no one else. The person inside said she could not understand what I said--yet I understood her just fine. I went to the window to place my order as she instructed. My order was totally messed up. I did not get my fries and I did get cole slaw which I do not like. The piece of fish I got was up to standard and an employee brought it out to the car. They asked me to pull up away from the window to wait for the order. I will not be going through this drive through any time soon. Food was good--service was lousy. read more

We were very pleased with our order especially since it was a delivery which was still hot and fresh over an hour after we received the food. We got the family pack with 8 pieces of fish, 12 shrimp, fries and hush puppies everything was perfectly seasoned! First visit at this location was very disappointing. We should have left when we saw the taped lever on the entrance door. Ordered 2 fish and shrimp platters and before we could order drinks they told us they were out of ice. So we asked for our food to go. After paying, we heard them tell other customers that they're out of hush puppies and ice. Had we known that they were out of hush puppies too, we would have cancelled our order altogether. While we were shorted hushpuppies, we were charged full price. As we waited for our food, we took in the dilapidated condition of the facility. The place is rotting and needs to be demolished. This establishment is not at all indicative of what we've known LJS to be, even when we've visited older facilities. Won't be going back to this LJS, ever! read more

Prepare your mouth to be a"salt"ted. Have a gallon of water nearby to prevent the sodium from introducing you to the grim reaper. Seriously, if you have salt sensitivity, skip this blood pressure raising experience. But even if you don't as I do not, it's just too salty for a human palette. Do not use your debit or credit cards at this establishment. Yesterday, I utilize the drive thru the cashier heavy set African American female took pictures of my card. She was acting as through she was taking a call however the idiots must can't see because my card was displayed on her phone. I immediately while sitting in the drive thru-called my bank and cancelled my card. Another person delivers my meal and my card, I told him what she did and he dismissed my questioning. They just re-opened about 3 weeks ago remodeled new look and everything. The food is hot and taste like its suppose too. If you love Long john silvers food stop by there. Let me start by saying I didn't eat here. I walked inside. Got in line. And then almost vomited in my mouth. The restaurant was not clean (but hey, sometimes things get busy). There were kids running around, and adults in street clothes hanging out in the back area. But one peak at the kitchen and cue the vomiting. It looked like it hadn't been cleaned since 1984. Mold. Filth. Crap everywhere. Maybe even real crap. The health department needs to visit ASAP. I can only imagine it's not safe for the employees or the customers. I used to avoid LJS because it's so oily. I didn't find the food at this location dripping with oil. Sure it's fried food, but it didn't make my stomach upset like other locations have. I've only visited here once and will never go back. Ordered the fried platter, took a couple bites and discarded everything but the corn. Can't even explain the taste of the seafood except for that the shrimp was super salty. It was all just plain bad. Maybe the fryer oil was stale or something? The hush puppies were trash. After trying the food I can't understand why the drive-thru line is always so long, especially since it took forever to get to the intercom to order. Maybe the steamed platters are better.
