I've been to this location's drive-thru 2 times in the past couple months. The food looked and tasted fresh on both occasions.! The 2nd time I went with my husband. We wanted a very large order of hush puppies for a family gathering. The young man at the window was truly so helpful and friendly. He gave us options on how we could order with prices. He went above and beyond what we expected from a fast food drive-thru. The reviews here are scary! I'm glad I didn't read them before going-cause I wouldn't have. I think that the management may have improved since these older reviews. I've never been inside this establishment so I cannot say it's clean but I really hope they have made some major changes since. The food is tasty and we didn't die from it, but the restaurant itself is gross. It is not being maintained, and the place is falling apart. There's a faint smell that reminds of the seafood department in a poorly run international market. The bathroom was not only dirty and clogged, but the door either closed nor locked. The front door glass was shattered, and at least 2 tables had handwritten signs on them that warned not to sit there. The bottle of cocktail sauce that was left out on the counter had a date sticker from 6 days ago (hard pass on that). This is my first (and families) time eating at a Long John Silver's. I was super excited, and ready to chow down! So when we came, I was expecting a bigger restaurant. At first glance it didn't look like that it was a place you could eat at. But inside it's a nice size, 10 booths and 3 tables which I am guessing it's best for staff to use especially on a slow day like today. The Customer service: the cashier who was taking our order, clearly did NOT wish to be there. No I wasn't expecting a bubbly personality because customer service rose in the food industry can suck, but blatantly showing the desire to not be there can be and should be hidden! We weren't going to get drinks however my spouse decided he was going to get drinks. The frustration that the cashier had on is face and irritability was there along with his barely contained slap on the register. When we wanted information on how much of an item was on a side, there was a woman who was very friendly who answered the question for us. I mentioned I wanted extra hush puppies to go as one of the sides, he stated it already comes with hush puppies as if 1) I couldn't read and 2) I didn't say I wanted an extra side of hush puppies. So thank you for telling me information I didn't ask for and clearly how I worded things already knew. So he made that process not worth coming back to this location The food; the food came fast, there was a small slip on the order it was corrected promptly! The food was pretty decent. Fish was nice and salty, not extra oily for me however to my husband it was a bit too greasy. The hush puppies were delectable I'd like to have nothing but that when I order if I order and decide to go back just not this location. The fries were pretty enh. I didn't order a drink because I honestly wanted to just hurry up and order due to the cashier at this point. Everyone else did and had no complaints. Over all... Grilled salmon bowl would have been good had the worker not recently had a cigarette. All I could taste while eating it was cigarette smoke. Chicken nuggets were over-breaded, watery and processed. Fries were good. Machine ran out of ice but line was so long I chose not to ask at counter for them to fill cup with ice. Regretted that decision since the sweet tea was so warm. read more

Upon entering the restaurant, I noticed that it looks like every other Long John Silver's I've visited (dated decor, nothing too flashy); however, I was given a wonderful greeting by 2 gentlemen behind the register. They informed me of some promotional deals & even took time to ask what my interests were. I waited no more than just a few minutes for my food and everything was hot and fresh! I remember coming here as a kid. Today I am in and left without ordering anything. It appear nothing has changed since I was a kid. Well one thing has, the place is run down! It just looks dirty. I haven't been in a Long John Silvers restaurant for years but today I came across this one and thought "why not?" I was hungry, didn't want to spend a lot of money or time and I remembered enjoying their fare in the past. Well, now I have an answer to my question. I ordered a new special ($5 combo - 3 fish tenders, chips and a small soft drink) which seemed to be a fair deal. The fish was small but that could be expected, the chips which are cooked in house were reasonably plentiful for the price. The quality is where I had difficulty, the fish was thin and a bit greasy. The chips (about half of them) were limp and soggy. I finished the part of my meal that I could and decided to tell the manager of my dissatisfaction at the quality of the chips. She told me that that was how they were supposed to be! I asked how that was possible and she informed me that it was a company policy to keep the chips under the heat lamp for as much as 12 hours before tossing them and making a fresh batch. She made no apologies and simply shrugged when I said that this policy would keep me away. I agree with the other reviewers that the facility was dingy and run down, but I saw that before I ordered, I could have left if I wanted. The people were friendly enough, even when I had an issue, but they made no offers to even replace the bad chips with better and they seemed unconcerned that a customer was put off on coming back, that for me is an invitation to closure for any restaurant. I know that LJS is off my list of quick lunch places for the foreseeable future, I think others would be wise to scratch it off their list before they have a repeat of my experience. The newly reopened restaurant is a good place to get a quick order of fish and chips. The food is good and the staff polite and focused. My food (2 piece fish platter) was hot and crispy and brought to the table a couple of minutes after I sat down (maybe it helped that it wasn't a busy time for them just before noon). I like to dine in because it's a change of pace from the pandemic, I don't like to eat in the car and the food doesn't get cold trying to get home. I stopped by here recently when I went to the gun show at the VFW hall. I had not seen a Long John Silver's in years and didn't know they were still around. I had shrimp, fish, and hush puppies (I don't remember the name of the platter) and green beans. The fish was really good with horse radish. The prices are inexpensive. Ok, definitely should have checked the star rating for this place. I'm currently sitting in the Drive-Thru I placed my order literally 20 minutes ago and I'm still the second car in line from the pay window, which gives me ample time to actually look at the building itself. It is super old and not very well maintained the door on the back little shed area is literally hanging off by one hinge the barrel buckets that were probably wants for decoration are completely torn apart. I'm actually fairly concerned about the quality of food that I'm going to put in my mouth I'm definitely going to give it the second look over before I actually eat it. This place is horribly ghetto. I've lived in the area for 25 years, this place has been there longer then I have, and it's age shows.The handle to the front door is missing. Last visit I heard the staff (the ones on break and on the clock) say choice words not fit for ears of anyone under the age of 17, atleast once every 5 minutes. The music they had playing on their phones in the back (fully audible in the lobby) was worse. Not a single person had gloves on, and one person was eating right out of the fry bin. I am very disappointed with this location. Although they have lasted through some pretty rocky corporate times it looks like they have truly given up and let themselves go. The whole building looks like it is abandoned. The landscape is overgrown and the building is "decaying". I have never gone inside, but when using the drive through, the interior looks out dated and worn down. I don't order the fish here, but I do order the cole slaw and can say that it the best in Dale City. The drive through is as you expect and also run down. The only thing that I can say is not run down and has not abandoned this place is the owner. He is a nice guy and I think the only guy running this place. On one of my last visits he seemed depressed, but still had a smile on his face.
