Loooove Long Leash on Life!!! I have been passing this place for a while now and always say that I want to go in and never do. Finally this Christmas I decided to go in and see what they have to offer because I wanted to find some unique toys and treats for my fur babies. This place blew my mind! I foudn so many yummy treats for my babies that are super healthy for them and I even found new dog food for them. They got cool new toys and some food mixins. I loved the staff as well. They are all so friendly and knew all their customers names by heart. It seems like such a warm and welcoming place. I went back twice already and I can't wait to go back! These folks are simply the smartest, nicest, most helpful people in the pet business in town. I just called in and Brian picked up the phone. I had a goofy question about the washability of a crazy orange monkey toy my dog, Mona, just loves. Most stores would say 'sorry we don't carry that any more...'. Hang up. Brian puts me on hold and talks to his colleagues who find the manufacturer's name. I google it and have my answer in 3 minutes. Not a big deal. But it is a big since it illustrates how they approach their business. Spending time, extra energy to help people. I have been coming to LLoL since they opened. I love the huge selection of different dog and cat foods. We used to live right near the store, now I live across town, but I still will swing by to pick up animal food. Both Norm and Ken are great. Norm knows so much about diet and is always happy to help figure out what might work for different dogs. I also love Marilyn! Also, as with most smaller shops, they remember you and your pets from visit to visit. I am glad they are here in ABQ. read more

What a great store if you want organic/healthy/special diet food for your pet. The owners specialize in knowing about pet diets. We came here while we were waiting to get our dog from the breeder. We have a toy poodle. They gave us free samples of a bunch of food and went into so much detail how to feed our dog when we first take her home to transition her from baby to puppy to adult life. They truly do care and have a love for their job. It is to me like the whole foods or natural grocers store for dogs lol. We got our dog some like goatsmilk to mix with this veggie powder stuff then some food called Orijen which is like crazy healthy .. We only mix half of it with her blue buffalo because it is more for really active dogs, this would be a great place to start if you find out your dog had any allergies, etc.. And they have a bunch of really healthy treats. There is also a small section for leashes, collars, bowls. Etc.. read more

everytime i visit i am always greeted by such a great staff and that means alot as a customer! they are always so willing to help or discuss with you the product youre looking at. was looking at some nail clippers for my dog and the gentleman was very nice at helping me pick the right pair. another time i was looking at harnesses and didnt have my pup with me at the time - he said to just bring her in they could help me get a good one for her! love to support local businesses and this is one of my favorites to go to! read more

Best pet food store ever! The owners know about nutrition and are willing to take the time to answer questions. We atrribute one of our older kitties longer life living with cancer because of the suggestions they made for her diet. The owners get to know their clientel and greet most of them by name. They have nothingb but the heathiest foods available. They are knowledgeable about suppliments as well and have given us suggestions for our older cats that have put spring back in their steps. Lots of fund stuff for dogs and cats as well. We love this place. read more

Yesterday my wife and I took in two rescue dogs to use Long Leash On Life's self-service dog wash. Being just 2 days out of the rescue kennel, our dogs were nervous, anxious and overall pretty unruly. We were just about to leave when Ken Wormser came out and asked if we needed help. Boy did we, and the help provided was great. Ken allowed us to bring the dogs in through the back door, helped us with the dog wash, and overall made the experience terrific - for both us and our dogs. I was pregnant when I first started going in, and the staff jumped at the opportunity to grab whatever I needed and carry it out to my car, and this has continued whenever I go in with the baby now. I love this store. The staff here do SO MUCH for the rescue organizations in the area. From food donations to organized fundraising events...they do everything and MORE for the local pet rescues. Most of the staff are very knowledgeable about the products they carry and I have been recommended quite a few products that I ended up purchasing and loving. I have not used their self-wash dog wash yet but I hope to soon! read more

Our new groomer ( little lobos) recommended this place for their knowledge of a food that might help with an ongoing issue one of our girls have. We had never thought that the problem might be diet related , but after speaking with these kind folks we are definitely excited to start our girls on their new premium food. I used to go here all the time. They have a bathing service for dogs, where you pay and use their facility to wash your pup. Well, this tall brown haired man (I think he is the owner) threw a HUGE temper tantrum, I'm not kidding he might as well thrown himself to the ground, about how much my dog shed in the tub room. He treated us so horribly, he yelled at me in front of my dog while I was trying to dry him. Later, I could hear him yelling at his employees from the back as well when we were trying to get out of there. My dog is a welsh corgi/cocker spaniel, who had just spent a day at the dog park, plus he is a dog, dogs shed, there was no reason for that behavior. When I told him I would make sure to clean up he scoffed at me and walked away. I would highly recommend going to Clarks Pet Emporium, or Critters Pet Store where they are so nice and know how to not embarrass themselves with childish behavior. But have the same great selection. read more
