We found Brutsky Builds since he was close to us in Lake Sammamish and noticed they had great reviews across the board so decided to give them a call and see what they can do for us. I was impressed off the bat with Erik's transparency and knowledge. We went through the full process of sharing what we were looking for and he guided us through it all. After the initial phone call we scheduled an onsite consultation and Erik went through everything very diligently, asked about all the details, and even 3D scanned the entire space. After that we went on a video call to review the proposal and figure out start dates and scheduling. He assigned a project manager to us and we got the ball rolling on the kitchen remodel. What was nice was that through the whole process we had one point of contact, we were added to a group chat on WhatsApp for all communication. Erik and the PM were always very communicative and responsive. He added us to his software that way we can see all the details and progress of the remodel. They had weekly updates for us throughout the entirety of the project and kept us up to speed on permit submittals, architecture/engineering appointments, and minor issues that were always corrected. What was awesome is that with the pre-con strategy we had transparent pricing with no change orders! Everything went smoothly with the schedule and all the work was done with excellence and with timeliness in mind. The whole process was smooth and they took on the stress for us. We had Dave and crew demolish and pour a new driveway, curb and two steps our landscaper contractor…read morerequested be added to our back yard porch to incorporate the steps to a new landscape design. One of the two steps was defective: shorter in height than the other, anti-slip grooves that were placed to match original steps were not parallel and evenly spaced. This is a common traditional design/functional feature of the tread. The bottom step lacks a full riser height and will result in a gap between that step and the patio. We knew the step was odd looking but when our landscape designer saw it, he advised us it was poorly done and needed to be redone before the landscape work could be completed. We contacted Dave explaining the problem, asking him to redo the step or refund the cost of that portion of the project. He said he would be by to demolish and redo the step. On the day of the scheduled redo, he was a no show with no message from him. My husband text messaged and called him with no response, he attempted to reach Dave several times. This man does not keep his word. This no-show ghosting is nothing new, as another reviewer indicated he had the same experience, missed appointments TNT Concrete makes with its customers. There is a history on their part as being no shows on days they have committed to work. We now are paying another contractor to have the step replaced, an extra expense we should not have if Dave had taken responsibility and replaced the step or refunded the cost. This is no way to treat customers. I do not recommend this business.

Fast forward a few month, we drove past a neighbors house and saw Western's sign, gave them a call and within a day or so Ross was at the house walking through what we wanted, what they would do, how they would do it, and the next day we had an estimate. The steep hillside, and retaining wall weren't the only challenges, the biggest is that there is no access to get equipment to the backyard, so everything would need to be done by hand. Ross and the Western team continued to work through our pricing questions, and we came to a fair price to do the work. When it came time to do the work, the crew did not disappoint. They were moving quickly, and were doing great work. They had some tough logistics and made it seem easy. The final product was an amazing backyard, a structurally sound retaining wall, and awesome new landscape around the house. The whole time, we always had access to Ross, and more so to his team that would email us back same day or within 24 hours. They always let us know what was going on. We would definitely recommend the Western team and will go back to them for future work!

Traci and Hope provided superior customer service. They never failed to deliver in a timely manner on every task requested whether it be collecting product samples for design meetings or having revised drawings ready for discussion on promised dates. Hope has gone as far as securing product samples on her day off in order to be prepared for the following day's client meeting. Tenhulzen employs their own administrative and carpentry staff. Everyone are pleasant to deal with and are very accommodating. Other production functions are subcontracted. Costs are divided into two groups - design and production. The contract agreements are different between the two groups. It appears harder to develop a design budget compared to one for production. This may cause problems for clients wanting to fund their project through a bank loan and need a pretty solid dollar value. Design costs become known as the work gets completed and billed. Not a deal breaker but do pay closer attention. Overall, Tenhulzen is a creative and talented group of people willing to go the extra mile for you.
